Caller at Walmart reports he was threatened over his Trump bumper sticker
A caller in the Walmart parking lot reports that he was threatened because of his Trump bumper sticker.
He claims it was a threat of physical violence.
A trooper and deputy dispatched.
UPDATE 2:50 p.m.: A trooper interviewed all parties involved. No arrest. A woman with a male made an anti-Trump statement to the man with a Trump bumper sticker on his truck. He said something back. It escalated from there but didn't become physical. Both the trooper and deputy on scene couldn't recall a prior incident in the Trump Era of threats over a bumper sticker, though the trooper recalled a Trump supporter in 2016 getting slushies dumped on his car and an anti-Trump note being left.
C.mon, folks.... voice your opinions if you so desire (whether via bumper sticker or vocally), but fighting, even verbally, gets us nowhere. Don't like who is in office? Vote them out. If that does not work - TRY AGAIN.
Edited for clarity - changed "voice your opinions if you want" to "voice your opinions if you so desire". Thanks, Ed.
■■ Tim. You wrote " C.mon, folks.... voice your opinions if you want.."
If we want WHAT, Tim? I think you may have forgotten a word or more.
As for verbally "fighting", that's the basis of debates.
Threatening, on the other hand, as we've seen in some of the "Law and Order" posts, can, and has, led to charges of second degree harassment.
Personally, I'd hate to be charged with second degree harassment because I didn't like someone's bumper sticker. I have the right to comment on said bumper sticker, per the 1st Amendment, but, it'd be utterly STUPID to escalate it into a criminal charge.
Great Points, both of you.
No, Tim. Thank you, for the clarification.
And, the funny thing is, now that I've reread the way you first wrote it, the meaning is clear.
Sure the man has the right to have any bumper sticker that he wants. And, yes the other guy has the right to comment about it.
We are all missing the important thing. That we should be thanking the guy with the Trump bumper sticker. Now, if you are driving behind him, you know the the driver in front of you is an idiot, that can't think for himself, and if probably a bad driver and pron to road rage.
