Who Can Build the Best Snowman?

By Holland Land Office Museum

The Holland Land Office Museum is proud to announce it’s first ever snowman building contest. The event, sponsored by thebatavian.com, will take place on the east lawn of the Museum on Wednesday, December 31st from 9:00 a.m. until noon.

If there isn’t any snow outside, we’ll build them inside!

Prizes will be awarded. And, we are planning to have a celebrity judge. We can't announce the name yet, because this person isn't confirmed.

Check out www.wonderlandoftrees.com or call the Museum at 343-4727 for more information.

What information are you looking for that wasn't on our web page?

There are a lot of ways to build a snowman inside. Just think outside the box.

Hope to see you there.

lazario, let's play the use your imagination game about building snowmen inside. You're losing. And as for the run around???? I found all the info I needed. I don't see what the problem is.

OR........
Why don't you come to HLOM on December 31, 2008 to see first hand how you make snowmen inside. I heard that there will be prizes and a celebrity judge.

Oh, here's a link that may help you laz-

specifically I was looking for additional information
There isn't any more or additional information on the snowman building contest

Just seems it should say for more information on anything other than the snowman building contest please visit our website or call

As for what part of the east lawn I don't get
Well, I don't get what that was for
But since we're on that now
Where is the east lawn? It must be magnificent with such an official name
Is this the patch of grass to the east?

I'm declaring my grass
Lawns of the East South North and West from now on, also
It will make mowing seem an aristocratic thing to do

I don't know how one builds snowmen inside a warm home without snow outside unless it's trucked in ..to a large freezer
or will the the snow be made of styrofoam balls
Just going to have to tell me cause I'm out of guesses here. Make me look foolish.

If there isn't any snow outside why not just postpone the building of snowmen till there is?
Maybe it's symbolic of winter for the joyous new year or whatever but
if there isn't any snow and you'll make em out of foam why not just make some out of foam in advance and then hold the contest another day so the event doesn't get cheapened?

Is this an event for kids or adults? Kids don't care about seeing snowmen on the day before January 1st
Kids love to play in the snow
Adults the ones participating? I still think snow is the way to go there, too.

Forget it
I'll just make my own event
You're all welcome to participate
Open 24/7
No skills of any real kind needed
Don't have to go outside or fake anything
Post your creations here when done
I'm a celebrity so I'll judge the entries

Winner gets absolutely no prizes from me but I do accept bribes

We debate about the MALL.
We debate left and right on politics.
we debate on the future of batavia
and now the best.we have controversies on snowmen, whether to build the out or in.
At my place it's the front yard or the back yard
If you would like to meet me as i would like to see some of you,I will make it my best effort to get to the east lawn and build a snowman with my boys on the last day of 2008 in the early AM. Hope to see you there. Can someone please bring the coal santa put in your stocking so as i can have some eyes for my frosty

People don't normally hold build the best sand castle competitions in Nebraska

People do not go inside to play pretend swimming when the pond freezes over

When the baseball game is rained out they do not go inside and finish it on Playstation

Why would we in WNY
snow capital of the country -basically-
Build snowmen inside
..whatever they're made of
when you can easily postpone till the next good snowcover

I got snippy cause I got snipped
Don't even know what ON THE EAST LAWN means in regards to my question
Perhaps I went to the site looking for info on how snowmen would be made inside
Is this not a fair question to ask?
I have to play imagination just because that info isn't given?
I could call
But this thread said more info would be found there
None to be found
I point it out
I think it's fair

I'm told to play imagination by the organization holding the event
which then asks me if I have any questions they could answer

Why call at this point?

Maybe I don't want to waste a morning alongside a bunch of 7 year olds and their parents gluing paper together with paste inside a building

Why do we have to plan absolutely everything? Whis is everything scheduled
-I can understand easter hunts and whatever taking place on a single day-
Build the snowman day? No reason for it to have to take place on the 31st ..not even a tradition
1st annual
Man, play in the snow
It should mean something if it's that important
You wait for good things
you're patient when you need to be
Why has fun and holiday/seasonal spirit become such a business
I'm not sure if life itself isn't becoming a business
It's so damn fake and commercial
East Lawn
on the main drag through town opposite a tow truck operator
The museum is a nice place
Why the professional airs

How many lawns does the museum really have?
Hope it's more than 1 or else it's not really a directory

Laz,
Get a life. Why don't you just go to the HLOM and see. You seem to have issues. Just go and see if this idea of a snowman being built inside upsets you so much.

Once again Laz has proven that only some opinions are worth reading. I am grateful that I can scroll through some of the comments without really caring what they say. Funny how that works. The time, energy, and effort spent on half assed opinion could always be directed elsewhere....somewhere useful? Im sure he'll reply with 7 paragraphs... (and i use that term loosely).

Sounds like great fun!

<a href='http://smileyshut.com&#039; title='Smileys'><img src='http://smileyshut.com/smileys/new/MSN-Emoticons/MSN-Emoticon-snowman-06…; alt='Smileys' border='0'></a>

For those with limited imagination, some 'inside snowmen':

<a href="http://www.eslkidstuff.com/Worksheets/snowmancraft.gif">Have scissors, crayons and glue? You can make this too!</a>

<a href="http://z.about.com/d/familycrafts/1/0/G/n/cpsnowmantc.jpg">Awww... he even has earmuffs!</a>

<a href="http://images.etsy.com/all_images/7/727/b9d/il_430xN.14170218.jpg">Litt… bit of clay and Oh, so cute!</a>

<a href="http://www.safesecurestore.com/stores/graphics/00000002/4597.gif">You see, if you take snow inside to make a snowman, it will make everyone sad and very frustrated</a>

If you build a snowman outside with no snow and only mud, you have a <a href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3082/2314085846_69a1191b4f.jpg?v=0">mudm…; and not a snowman. If you try to build a snowman in a blizzard, you will <a href="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2112/2130033697_b11b666c84.jpg">develop frostbite</a> and the snow probably won't pack very well anyway.

And please, if you are more of a <a href="http://www.sileo.com/wp-content/uploads/scrooge.jpg">scrooge</a&gt; or loved ones have referred to you as the <a href="http://www.nycny.com/movies/the_grinch/grinch.jpg">grinch</a&gt;, perhaps you should stay away from the event - you may have too much fun and ruin your reputation!

For the record, the east lawn is the area between the Museum and the Walnut Street foot bridge. It is technically called Paolo Busti Park, but I guess that would have started a whole other discussion.
