Weather Service statement:

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED TORNADO WATCH 236 IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS 

IN NEW YORK THIS WATCH INCLUDES 13 COUNTIES 

IN CENTRAL NEW YORK  CAYUGA 

IN WESTERN NEW YORK 

ALLEGANY CATTARAUGUS CHAUTAUQUA ERIE GENESEE LIVINGSTON MONROE NIAGARA ONTARIO ORLEANS WAYNE WYOMING 

THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF...AUBURN...BATAVIA...BUFFALO... CANANDAIGUA...FAIR HAVEN...GENESEO...JAMESTOWN...MEDINA... NEWARK...NIAGARA FALLS...OLEAN...ROCHESTER... WARSAW AND WELLSVILLE.

Was it last year or the year before when one touched down in Corfu? That was crazy! Please stay safe everyone!

When you hear about all of this recently happening down south, you never quite think of it happening here in WNY. Yikes!

The possibility of a tornado in this area isn't unheard of... I recall one that went through around 1980 tore up many trees and there was lots of home damage...
then again in the early to mid 90's near the E. Main St. and Seven Springs Rd. area. (2 men were killed in that one.)
