A male wearing tan coveralls reportedly refused to leave the Calvary Baptist Church in Le Roy and police responded to the scene. They are out with him now in front of the Urgent Care Center. It is believed he may be intoxicated.

UPDATE 5:19 p.m.: The officer at the scene says he's from Rochester and that he told her he came out this way seeking "help with Thanksgiving dinner."

UPDATE 5:25 p.m.: The man will be taken to the bus station and given fare for the ride home.

The Grand Jury of Genesee County has issued the following indictments:

Kevin C. Johnson is indicted on a count of failure to register change of Internet access. Johnson, a convicted sex offender, is accused of not notifying authorities within 10 calendar days of a change in Internet access accounts.

James D. Ferguson is indicated on counts of DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater and aggravated unlicensed operation. Ferguson is accused of driving drunk May 28 in Pembroke while having a revoked license due to a prior conviction in Buffalo in 2011 of driving while ability impaired.

Xzavier A. Davis is indicted on felony counts of DWI, driving with a BAC of .18 or greater and aggravated unlicensed operation. Davis is accused of driving drunk May 13 in the Town of Darien. Davis has a prior DWI conviction in the Town of Cambria in 2012.

Shawn A. Johnson Jr., is indicted on four counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument, 1st. Johnson is accused of possessing forged $20 bills in the Town of Darien.

Robert L. Hizer is indicted on counts of felony DWI, aggravated felony DWI and robbery, 3rd. Hizer is accused of driving drunk June 23 in the Town of Le Roy while children under age 15 were in the vehicle. He is accused of, on that same date, stealing $138 and a pack of cigarettes from the Wilson Farms store at 13 Lake St., Le Roy.

Laszlo Szabo is indicted on counts of felony DWI and driving with a BAC of .18 or greater. Szabo is accused of driving drunk Sept. 23 in the Town of Le Roy. Szabo has a prior DWI conviction from 2005 in the Town of Greece.

As we all know, the East Coast was recently struck by Hurricane Sandy and has much devastation. Members of our community have decided to start a donation drive at the Pembroke High School (routes 5 and 77 in Corfu) on Friday, Nov. 16, from 3 to 7 p.m. with the help of students of the high school.

The students are really coming together to all participate in making this happen. We have been in direct contact with the location where we are making our drop and the following are their specific needs.

We will be accepting: bottled water, toiletries, non-perishable food items and bulk food items for the location because they are making daily hot meals for those who continue to have no electricity. Also needed are: blankets, gently used coats, hats and gloves, and new or gently used toys and Home Depot gift cards, but please no money.

But money can be given to the American Red Cross <www.redcross.org> and checks made out to the American Red Cross can be accepted during the charity drive at the high school.

After, we will be joining with Alden Presbyterian Church to move the goods to another church in New Jersey. Thank you for your time and generosity!

The drop-off location for the Rotary drive is the American Legion post in Le Roy, 53 W. Main St. Donated goods will be accepted until 6 p.m. today.

A working car fire is reported, with flames showing underneath it, on the westbound 490. Le Roy and Bergen fire crews are responding. It's at mile marker 2.

UPDATE 5:15 p.m.: Foam will be used to douse the fire. Bergen is continuing to the scene. Le Roy is put back in service.

UPDATE 5:16 p.m.: The fire is out.

The Le Roy Main Street Committee will sponsor a presentation by architect Rick Hauser on a proposal to purchase the Wiss Hotel from the village. The plans include several commercial facilities and five residential apartments at the site.

The presentation will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at the Village Hall. The public is invited. The Village Hall is located at 3 W. Main St.

Batavia and Le Roy Rotary Clubs are collecting relief items for the areas of New York and New Jersey devastated by Superstorm Sandy.

The Batavia club is subsidizing transportation of items to the hard-hit areas on Saturday. A team of Le Roy Rotarians led by President Samantha Vagg will take the items to an area established by Rotary clubs in the devastated area.

Donations are being coordinated through the Rotary districts in that region.

In addition, the Batavia club is donating $1,500 for relief efforts. If others wish to donate, they can -- either needed items or money. The check will be given to Samantha to take with her when the relief items are delivered on Saturday, Nov. 17.

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported at Munson and Wolcott streets in Le Roy. It is blocking traffic. There are two victims. They are going to shut down traffic at Wolcott and Route 19. There was air bag deployment. Le Roy fire and ambulance are responding.

UPDATE 4:41 p.m.: There is entrapment.

UPDATE 4:48 p.m.: Everybody is out. Traffic will be shut down at the village green.

UPDATE 4:55 p.m.: There was one sign-off and one patient to be transported to the hospital via ambulance. Route 19 will remain closed by the accident scene until the two vehicles involved are removed. Le Roy is going back in service.

UPDATE 4:57 p.m.: The patient is being taken to Strong Memorial Hospital.

UPDATE 5:18 p.m.: Route 19 is reopened.

A vehicle was stolen in the Town of Le Roy overnight and there were a series of thefts from several other cars there, too.

The Sheriff's Office is investigating the incidents, which occurred between 11 p.m. Monday and 2 a.m. this morning.

Suspects entered more than 20 vehicles on Linwood Road and along Route 5 in the Linwood Road area. All of the vehicles were apparently unlocked, according to the Sheriff's Office.

While not every entered vehicle had items taken; GPS, Ipods, clothing items and cash were among the items that were taken.

A Mercedes-Benz was stolen from a Route 5 Le Roy residence and was later located in Caledonia with several items missing from it. A KIA minivan was stolen from the Caledonia location where the Mercedes was located. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is investigation the minivan theft along with several thefts from parked vehicles in the Caledonia area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office at 585-343-5000.

A Le Roy truck driver escaped injury Saturday when the brakes on his semi went out and he lost control of the truck and it overturned on Route 19 near Fox Road.

Nathanael Edmund, 22, of Harris Road, was hauling corn at 1:16 p.m. Saturday down a hill on Route 19 and was unable to negotiate a turn after his brakes stopped working.

The load of corn spilled from the truck.

Responding to the scene was the Wyoming Fire Department, Warsaw Fire Department, Wyoming County Sheriff's Office and State Police.

The accident remains under investigation.

Jason Micheal Kone, 31, of Townline Road, Byron, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, violation of probation, aggravated unlicensed operation, 2nd, operating with a suspended registration and operating without insurance. Kone was stopped at 1:51 p.m., Sunday, on Townline Road, Byron, by Deputy Chris Parker. At the time of the stop Kone was allegedly found in possession of a pipe containing marijuana. Kone was also arrested on a warrant out of Monroe County for alleged violation of probation and turned over to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Christina J. Larsen, 37, of 6024 Fisher Road, Oakfield, is charged with felony DWI, felony aggravated DWI, improper left turn, uninspected motor vehicle and unregistered motor vehicle. Larson was stopped at 7:21 p.m. Sunday on West Main Street, Batavia, by Officer Jamie Givens.

Nicholas C. Klippel, 28, of 80 Walden Creek Drive, Batavia, is charged with harassment, 2nd. Klippel is accused of threatening to "murder" another person.

Steven A. Earl, 27, of 8017 Bank Street Road, Batavia, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater and failure to yield right of way. Earl was stopped at 2:02 a.m. Sunday on South Swan Street, Batavia, by Officer Marc Lawrence.

Richard L Coughlin, 59, of 17 Fisher Park, Batavia, is charged with criminal contempt, 1st, and menacing, 3rd. Coughlin is accused of putting another person in fear of physical injury by yelling and screaming while in close proximity to that person and raising clenched fists. Coughlin is accused of violating an order of protection issued by Family Court.

Michael L. Valle, 31, of 146 Bank St., Batavia, is charged with attempted burglary, 2nd, criminal contempt, 2nd, and criminal mischief, 4th. Valle is accused of attempting to break into the residence of a person protected by a court order causing damage to a window screen and exterior light. Valle was jailed on $20,000 bail or $40,000 bond.

Brian D. Stotts, 35, of East Main Road, Le Roy, is charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana and running a red light. Stotts was stopped Saturday in Le Roy by a Le Roy police officer.

Bobbie Jo Hudson, 28, of Banks Road, Churchville, is charged with DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation, driving on a suspected registration, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, failure to keep right, and uninspected motor vehicle. Hudson was stopped at 2:25 a.m. Friday on Route 19, Bergen, by Deputy Eric Seppala.

Lucas G. Yauchzee, 23, of West Bergen Road, Bergen, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, 7th, and unlawful possession of marijuana. Yauchzee's arrest stems from the investigation of an alleged domestic incident Oct. 20. He was allegedly found in possession of LSD and marijuana. The case was investigated by Deputy Brian Thompson and Trooper J.J. Pitz.

Richard G. Medwid, 27, of Alexander Road, Alexander, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater and unreasonable speed. Medwid was reportedly involved in a one-vehicle accident on Route 98, Town of Batavia, at 12:55 a.m., Sept. 15.

We're getting requests for information regarding a number of police cars heading through Le Roy with lights and sirens. 

It's for a domestic incident. We generally don't report on domestic incidents off the scanner.

However, we will tell you this involved a gun. A phone may have been shot. It doesn't sound like any injuries.

At this time, it sounds like responding law enforcement units (deputies and troopers) have the situation under control.

If there's an arrest, there will likely be a press release and we'll report on that when released.

Faith Brenda O'Berne, 44, of Mount Read Boulevard, Rochester, is charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of a controlled substance, 7th. O'Berne is accused of stealing a $200 TV from Kmart. During the investigation by Deputy Brian Thompson she was allegedly found in possession of crack cocaine.

David R. Mark, 26, of Dansville, is charged with petit larceny. Mark is accused of shoplifting $89 in merchandise from Kmart.

Thomas Michael Rider, 55, of Lathrop Avenue, Le Roy, is charged with DWI and driving with a BAC of .18 or greater. Rider was stopped by Sgt. Greg Walker at 6:58 p.m., Tuesday, on Buffalo Road in Bergen after allegedly being observed driving and striking a curb in a parking lot.

Trashawn D. Bell, 17, of 46 Walnut St., Batavia, is charged with harassment, 2nd. Bell is accused of punching another person Nov. 2.

Taylor L. Finnin, 19, of 1 Cone St., Batavia, is charged with grand larceny, 4th, and 16 counts of possession of a forged instrument. Finnin turned himself in after learning of an arrest warrant on the listed charges. Finnin was jailed on $10,000 bail.

The last time the Hornell Red Raiders lost a football game, George W. Bush was still president.

Le Roy's Oatkan Knights did their best to bring the streak to an end, but came up short in a 21-7 loss in Rochester.

With 49 straight wins, Hornell ties a Section V record (the state record of 55 wins has stood since 1955).

For Le Roy, the Knights missed out on a chance at its 15th Section V title.

"If we make one catch here or there, who knows," said Head Coach Brian Moran. "We just didn't make the plays today. Sometimes that happens. I thought (Hornell) played extremely well. There's a reason they're 49-0. I thought we played as well as we could."

The Knight's took a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter on a Tom Kelso dive into the end zone and held the advantage into halftime.

In the 3rd quarter, the wheels came off.

The Knights, so stout through the first half, let the Red Raiders march the ball down the field and score on a 15-yard run by game MVP Zack Bacon.

On the first play of the next possession, a pitch from QB Mike McMullen to Kelso hit the turf and Hornell recovered the ball on about the 20-yard line. A few plays later on the shortened field, Luke Morgan's two-yard run put Hornell up 12-7.

"The things that usually cost you football games in games like this are penalties and turnovers," Moran said. "Obviously today, we did have a couple of those and it did cost us."

Le Roy continued to fight the tough fight, stopping one drive 10-yards short of the end zone.

There was still hope when a questionable chop-block penalty pushed Le Roy back, followed by a turnover that appeared to be a muffed foward pass ruled as a fumble.

Stuck on their end of the field, Le Roy couldn't advance the ball and on a 4th down play, McMullen was sacked in the end zone for a safety, making it 14-7.

With a little more than two minutes left in the game, Moran's squad tried an on-side kick on the post-safety free kick. The ball traveled a mere eight yards and Hornell recovered.

That put Bacon within striking distance for a 14-yard run make it 21-7.

"He’s good," Moran said of Bacon. "I’d run him, too. He kind of wears you down. He’s a very physical young man. I give credit to him. I’m sure he spends a lot of time getting ready physically and mentally to play."

The 2012 season was a good run for Le Roy, which is well stocked with young players. Moran said his boys came to Sahlen's Stadium ready to play.

"I thought our guys played as as hard as they could," Moran said. "I was proud of them. That’s all you can ask. In high school sports, if the kids come out and give you everything they’ve got, at the end of the day, you’ve got to be proud of them."

Besides Bacon's MVP trophy, awards for Le Roy included Archie Cappotelli for offensive lineman, Tom Kelso for most valuable offensive back and Chris DeFelice for the sportsmanship award.

At halftime, Elba Byron-Bergen's Andy Underhill was named Class C defensive player of the year (photo in slide show).

A group of concerned Le Royans has made an offer to purchase the Wiss Hotel  from the village. The offer was made after Rick Hauser, of In. Site: Architecture LLP in Perry, who conducted a comprehensive investigation of the building on the group’s behalf.

Mr. Hauser concluded the building could be a viable business entity consisting of five beautiful residential apartments on the second and third floors, and several commercial establishments on the first floor. The cost of the project will be about $1 million. (While tearing down the dilapidated building and replacing it with a structure of equal value is estimated to cost several times that amount.)

The goal is, over the next few months, to form Le Roy, New York LLC, to purchase the building, and to find interested community members to join the LLC and to invest their work and/or money into the project, and to obtain loans from entities such as the GCEDA and from the Village of Le Roy itself.

The offer is to purchase the building for a dollar, and have the village lend the LLC the money it would cost the village to demolish the property. This plan will transform the Wiss from a major liability into a profitable investment for community investors, and an asset all Le Royans can enjoy with pride.

A truck fire is reported on Lake Street, Le Roy.

The truck is empty, but it is a fuel tanker. The tree above the truck has caught on fire.

Route 19 is being closed at Mill Street and West Bergen Road.

A Le Roy woman suffered minor injuries Saturday in an accident in Wyoming County.

Another driver allegedly failed to yield the right of way to Cynthia A. Hart, 51, when she was westbound on Liberty Street Road in Warsaw.

Kirk G. Alexander, 53, of Rochester, reportedly stopped at the northbound intersection of Buck Road and then pulled out into traffic before seeing Hart's car.

The two cars hit and went off the highway before coming to rest.

Hart suffered some chest pain and was transported to Wyoming County Hospital by Warsaw Ambulance.

Alexander was not injured.

State Police out of Warsaw investigated the accident.

Smoke, "a light haze," is reported at Lot 3 of the Caesar's Palace Mobile Home Park. It's located at 8486 W. Bergen Road. Bergen and Le Roy fire departments are responding to the scene. Pavilion Fire Department is asked to stand by in their quarters.

The homeowner told responders he has no idea what may be causing the smoke. The structure has been evacuated.

UPDATE 1:13 p.m.: The smoke has been cleared. We think the source was a clothes dryer. No actual fire was present. The walls were checked with a thermal imaging camera. Pavilion is standing down. The other responders are picking up their equipment and preparing to leave.

Jamie R. Alford, 22, of 219 N. Spruce St., Batavia, is charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Batavia PD responded to a report of a disturbance in the bar at Days Inn at 1:18 a.m., Sunday. Several people were reportedly involved in several fights inside and outside the hotel. Alford was reportedly among people ordered by hotel staff and police officers to leave the property. While patrols were dispersing the crowd, Alford allegedly tried to start another fight in the bar area. When officers attempted to arrest Alford, he allegedly resisted arrest and fought with police. Following arraignment in city court, Alford was jailed on $500 bail.

Alicia M. Stankwick, 21, of 318 E. Main St., Apt. #2, Batavia, is charged with criminal contempt. Stankwick allegedly violated an order of protection by having a third-party communicate with the protected party.

Roger L. Lashure Sr., 45, of 3322 W. Main St. Road, Batavia, is charged with three counts of criminal contempt, 2nd. Lashure is accused of contacting a person he was ordered not to contact on three occasions between Oct. 23 and Oct. 25.

Abigail R. Storman, 17, of 111 State St., Batavia, is charged with menacing, 2nd, harassment, 2nd, criminal mischief, 4th, and harassment, 2nd. Stroman is accused to threatening a person by holding a knife and stating she would "slice up" the person at 9:15 a.m., Thursday. She also allegedly threatened to hit the person while raising her fist. She allegedly punched and broke a window in the residence.

Scott Dwayne Kingdon, 46, of Sparks Road, Pavilion, is charged with aggravated harassment, 2nd. Kingdon is accused of constantly contacting a person through Facebook, texting and e-mails after being old not to have contact with the person. An order of protection was issued following Kingdon's arrest.

Garfield George Phillips, 46, of Lincoln Avenue, Rochester, is charged with issuing a bad check. Phillips was taken into custody by Rochester PD on an arrest warrant out of Le Roy Town Court and turned over to the Sherrif's Office. Phillips is accused of writing a bad check July 25 in the amount of $2,400.

Ashlea Marie Harmon, 21, of Edwards Street, Batavia, is charged with petit larceny. Harmon is accused of stealing a Kindle Fire from an apartment where she was babysitting and then pawning the ebook reader.

Le Roy football is back in the sectional finals after a 44-27 win over Bath-Haverling at Sahlen's Stadium in Rochester.

After three consecutive seasons without a winning record, the Oatkan Knights will attempt to win their 15th sectional championship in school history, the 14th under Head Coach Brian Moran.

Bath-Haverling entered Saturday afternoon’s contest at Sahlen’s Stadium looking to avenge a blowout loss earlier this season, and they came out fast. The Rams took the opening kickoff and marched 71 yards on nine plays before quarterback Daniel Leonard punched in the first score of the game from a yard out.

Le Roy responded quickly, as Tom Kelso took the ensuing kickoff back 79 yards for a touchdown. The teams would trade touchdowns, as the Knights’ leading rusher Peter Privitera returned from injury to score on a 29-yard scamper to take the lead, 14-13.

Leonard would score his third rushing touchdown of the game to retake the lead as time expired in the first quarter. At that point, the Knights began to put pressure on the senior and it led to good results. After Leonard recovered a fumble, he threw an ill-advised pass under pressure on the very next play that was intercepted by Kelso.

“[Leonard] has a great arm, he’s a four-year starter,” Moran said. “We had to put ourselves into a situation to make him move his feet, get him a little uncomfortable, and I thought we did that when we came off the corners.”

Le Roy countered Bath’s passing game with their own aerial attack. After attempting only five passes last week against Holley, sophomore quarterback Mike McMullen came out throwing. McMullen went 7-for-10 passing for 151 yards and a dazzling 37-yard strike to Ryan McQuillen that would put the Knights up for good in the second quarter. Perhaps the most impressive statistic was the fact that he did not throw an interception.

“When they put 10 guys in the box, you have to take advantage of it,” Moran said. “(McMullen’s) a sophomore, but he’s played all year and he needed to step up for us. He played very well today.”

Leonard finshed 9-for-21, with 165 yards passing and three interceptions. He also ran for 109 yards and three touchdowns for Bath (6-4).

Privitera also had a big game for Le Roy, rushing for 126 yards on 14 carries with two touchdowns, including a 57-yard run on the first play of the second half. However, he was forced to leave the game in the third quarter with an apparent knee injury and did not return. The coaching staff is still optimistic that he will be able to play next week.

If Le Roy (8-1) wants to win another championship, they will have a daunting task in front of them as they will face top-seed Hornell. The Red Raiders are a three-time defending state champion and are riding a 48-game winning streak.

The Class C Championship game will take place Friday, Nov. 2, at Sahlen’s Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.

A Pavilion mother who was arrested for driving drunk with her child in her car will get a chance to get herself straightened out as part of a plea deal approved by Judge Robert C. Noonan.

Angela R. Kruse, 40, will go through substance-abuse rehabilitation for a year. If she succeeds in the program, she need serve only another four years on probation.

If she fails she will be sent to prison for four years.

Kruse was arrested in June after a tipster in Wyoming County told local law enforcement that she was driving drunk with a child in her car. She was arrested in the parking lot of Tops Market in Le Roy.

Her BAC at the time was reportedly .14 and her 4-year-old child was in the vehicle.

Today, Kruse admitted to driving drunk with a child in her car.

Currently, Kruse is being held in the Wyoming County Jail on $15,000 bail following her arrest in September for allegedly driving drunk. In that case, Kruse was reportedly involved in a single-vehicle accident in Covington.

Charges in that case are still pending and will be considered separately -- since it's another jurisdiction -- from the Genesee County case.
