James Ryan, 57, of Darien Center, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2019 after a short illness.

Jimmy was born on August 4, 1962 in Batavia, a son of the late Thomas T. Ryan and Esther Seeger Ryan.

He loved race cars and the Buffalo Bills.

Jimmy is survived by his mother, Esther Ryan; his brother and sisters, Thomas Ryan, Dennis (Maureen) Ryan, Bridget (late Roger) Rosenberg, Daniel (Nancy) Ryan, Kevin Ryan and Denise (Dale) Rosenberg; his Aunt Betty (late Gene) Schmidt and many cousins, nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours or services. Arrangements were made by C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc. Corfu, NY.

Betty is survived by children James (Carolyn) Nutting of FL; Pamela Nash of Batavia; Dixie (Karl) Fox of Batavia; Brian (Denise) Nutting of FL, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

There are no prior calling hours and services will be private. Betty, will be laid to rest at Grand View Cemetery, Batavia.

He was a 1972 graduate of Perry Central School. Steve worked almost 40 years as a farmer working for his family farm Parkview Farms , as well as Butler Farms and helped out many other farmers in the area when in need. He worked for Burt’s Lumber in Perry for many years and was currently was working for the Village of Perry working in the Parks Department. He was an active member of the Perry Fire Department for 44 years, serving in many positions throughout the fire department including past fire chief and currently as Vice President. He was a member of the Constellation Lodge # 404of the Free and Accepted Masons in Perry, the Silver Lake Sportsman’s Club, Perry VFW and Perry Vets Club. He was active in organizing the Perry Sea Serpent tournament for many years. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Family was the biggest part of his life he loved going to his children’s and grandchildren’s school and sporting events.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years: Polly J. (McBride) Rice, mother: Florence Rice of Perry, 3 daughters: Rebecca (Gerald Kane, Tracey Rozanski) Kane of Perry, Jennifer (Matthew Polizzi) Rice of Avon, Stephanie (Jay) Ballard of Perry, Son: Benjamin (Karin) Rice of Perry, sister: Linda Shepard of Silver Lake, 2 brothers: Jeffrey (Mary) Rice of Silver Lake, Brian (Lee) Rice of Perry, 4 grandchildren: Beau and Brooke Slocum, Jaelyn Kane and Russell Polizzi, mother-in-law: Jane McBride of Perry, 2 sister-in-laws: Pamela and Patricia McBride both of Perry,2 brother-in-laws: Daniel (Sandra) McBride and Stephen (Sharon) McBride both of Perry, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Along with his father he is preceded in death by siblings: Tommy Rice, Cynthia (Michael) Laraby and Paul Rice, father-in-law: Kenneth McBride, grandmother: Mildred Perkins, and brother-in-law: Robert Shepard.

A Fireman’s Service will be held on Friday October 25, 2019 at 3:00PM followed by a Funeral Service at 3:30PM at  Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main Street Perry, NY 14530, immediately followed by a procession to the Perry Fireman’s building where visitation and a celebration of Steve’s life will be from 5:00-9:00PM. She was born in Buffalo, NY on June 7, 1930.

Dorothy was employed by the former G.T.E. Sylvannia’s and Mancuso Bowling Lanes in Batavia. She bowled on many leagues and won many awards and trophies throughout her career. She also enjoyed playing bingo and traveling to different bingo halls with her friends.

She is predeceased by her husband, Phil Koziej, who she married in 1952 and her brothers, Andrew, Joseph, Stanley and Frank Kwasniak.

Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy M. (Gordon) Williams of Amherst. Grandchildren, Courtney (Jason) Pastore of Mountainside, New Jersey and Zachary Williams of Amherst.  Sisters, Florence (Vincent) Ferrando of Churchville, NY and Helen (Richard) Barnard of Batavia, formerly of Byron, NY. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, and her beloved canine friend: "Buddy-O".

A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.

Batavia - Barbara E. Lord, age 73, of Batavia, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019, at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Barbara was born May 17, 1946 in North Tonawanda, a daughter of the late Craig Eugene Ferringer and  Eleanor J. Buckley Ferringer.

Her husband, Frank E. Lord, Jr., passed away on October 24, 2009.

Sher is survived by her children; Frank E. Lord, Jr. of Batavia, Paula (Steven) Kingdollar of Batavia and Fred (Tia) Lord of Fort Meyers, Florida; seven grandchildren, Chris (Kirrin) Cook of Lockport, Frank Ryan Lord of Buffalo, Brandon Kingdollar of Batavia, Nicholas (Natasha) Lord of Hamburg, Kayla Kingdollar of Batavia, Brianna Ball of Elba and Jessee Ray Lord of Batavia; her sister, Hazel (late Bobby) Penders of Batavia; a brother-in-law, Paul (Patty) Lord of LeRoy; two sisters-in-law, Mary (Dave) Pedone of Cheektowaga and Janette (Phil, Jr.) Vigneri of Elba; several nieces and nephews including Alicca (Drew) Hudson of Charlotte, North Carolina and Phil (Brttany Emery) Vigneri, III of Batavia.

She is predeceased by her sister, Dorothy (late David) Hopkins of Attica; her brother-in-law, Fred Lord of Perry and her sister-in-law, Joann Myers of Michigan.

Rita Argana Cinquino, age 98, of LeRoy, died October 15, 2019.

     Predeceased by her husband Louis N. Cinquino; survivors include children Michael (Michele) of Lancaster, NY, Anthony (Susan) of Rochester, Mary Elizabeth Cinquino of Jamaica Plain, MA and Louis of Bethlehem, PA; grandchildren Nicholas, Rebecca, Eve, and Lucia Cinquino and Maya Rodale; sister Marie Argana of Stuart, Florida; a great-grandaughter and 34 nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Lena Pella, Charles Argana, Victoria Rosato, and Marie, who died in childhood. 

     She hosted countless family gatherings, cooking her traditional and original recipes, and retelling colorful stories of her Sicilian family, immigrant neighborhood, and running the Eagle Hotel.  She loved LeRoy, saying she never wanted to live anywhere else-- everything she needed was right here.  Her final years at the Village Green were filled with her lively banter, wisecracking smile, and enduring spirit.

     Mrs. Cinquino was a graduate of LeRoy High School and the former School of Commerce in Rochester.  She was employed as Medical Records Administrator of the former Genesee Memorial Hospital, until she retired in 1986. She was a Red Cross Nurse’s Aide during World War II; a faithful member of the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she sang in the choir; member of Mother of Good Counsel Sodality, Ladies of Charity, Bishop’s Committee Discussion Group, Mercedarian Lay Fraternity, Trinity Bible Study Group, Lake Home Bureau Unit, American Legion Auxilary, and LeRoy Historical Society.

     Family and friends may call on Sunday, Oct. 20 from 2 ~ 5 at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Rd., LeRoy.  Her Rite of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Oct. 21 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter's Church, 44 Lake St., LeRoy.  Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery.

He was born July 5, 1916 a son of Anthony and Marie (Kirsch) Casper in the Town of Herman (near Ada), Sheboygan County, Wisconsin.  His family were dairy farmers, and later moved to Meeme (near St. Nazianz), Manitowoc County.  Emery’s mother died when he was young and his father later married Florence (Slade) Casper.  Together there were 13 children.  The family eventually relocated to Oakfield in 1941.

Emery attended the Salvatorian and also the St. Lawrence Capuchin Seminary in Wisconsin until he joined his family in New York in 1940.  In 1941 he enlisted in the Army and joined the 86^th Engineer Heavy Ponton Battalion.  His WWII stories and history of the 86^th Engineers are on file at the Army Heritage Center Foundation in Carlisle, Penn. in a book titled “Bridging to Victory”.  Emery and his battalion received five battle stars for serving in five WWII European Campaigns:  Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge), Rhineland, and Central Europe.  His unit was the first WWII US Army ponton bridging battalion to bridge the Rhine (near Remagen) during the invasion of Germany, after the Army captured the only remaining German bridge on the Rhine on 3/7/1945 (Ludendorff Bridge), which fell 10 days later.

Emery met his wife, Blanche (Walker) Casper in 1943 when he was stationed in Stroud, England.  They were married in Woodchester, England in 1945.  After WWII Emery returned to the United States and studied watchmaking in Memphis, Tenn.  He was a watchmaker at Brenner’s Jewelers in Batavia for 20 yrs.  Blanche joined Emery in the United States in 1946 and they established their home in Batavia where they raised a family of six children.  Later, Emery returned to school to study drafting and was employed as a draftsman with Lightning Mixing Company in Rochester for 15 yrs.  After retiring, Emery and Blanche returned to England many times to visit relatives, and Emery also revisited Normandy in 1999.  Blanche passed away on Oct. 28, 2018.

They were long-time members of St. Joseph’s Church in Batavia and received the 2006 “Lay Award of St. Joseph”.  Emery was an avid gardener and altar server for novenas at St. Joseph’s, and he and Blanche led a daily rosary there for over 20 yrs.  Emery was also a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  Also, Emery thoroughly enjoyed the first Muckdogs ballgame that he ever attended (with the Premier Genesee residents) several months ago on June 18, 2019.

Emery is survived by his children, Monica Casper of Batavia, Valerie (Kenneth) Foxx of Romulus, Maurice Casper of Florida, and Roy Casper of Clifton Park; a brother, Paul Casper of Batavia; sisters, Zita (late Vic) Stornelli of Georgia, Cecelia (Merril) Mabon of Castile, and Joyce (late Reggie) Blackwell of Houston, Texas; a sister-in-law, Marianne Casper of Wisconsin.  7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

He is preceded in death by a son, Jerome (late Barbara) Casper; a daughter, Aileen Casper; brothers, Hyacinth Casper, Rev. B. Robert Casper, Casimir Casper, Anthony Casper, Charles Gibney, and Robert “Bob” Casper; sisters, Helen Ludwig, and Shirley Gibney.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday morning from 11 to 12:30 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 E. Main St., Batavia, where prayers will be recited at 12:30.  Emery’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 303 E. Main St., Batavia.  Burial, with military honors will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Batavia.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Resurrection Parish, 303 E. Main St., Batavia, NY 14020. 

His family is grateful to the ER and ICU medical staff for their excellent care, and also Fr. Matthew, pastor of Our Lady of Mercy, LeRoy for his quick response in administering the last blessings.

He was born June 7, 1950 in Batavia, the son of the late Aloysius and Marietta Bailey Konieczny.

Butch had worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for the Batavia Nursing Home.  He was an avid photographer, astronomer, model train enthusiast, and was a member of the Genesee Society of Model Engineers. Leon also enjoyed camping.

He was predeceased by a brother, George Konieczny.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Deborah A. (Stell) Konieczny of Pavilion, Sisters, Kristen Palmer of York, NY and Lynette Tower of Batavia. Brothers, David Pixley of York, NY, John (Debbie) Konieczny of Batavia and Paul Konieczny of Batavia. Sister in-law, Luann Konieczny of Batavia. Also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.

Batavia ~ Jessie I. Brewster, age 95, passed away early Sunday morning (October 13, 2019) at Premier Genesee Center in Batavia.

     Family meant the most to Jessie.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, who was very energetic and had a great sense of humor.  She loved to meet people and was a Cub Scout den mother for many years.    

     She is survived by her children, John E. Brewster of Batavia, James E. (Debra) Brewster of Ft. Pierce, FL, Jerome (LeAnn) Brewster of Attica and Janine (Paul) Cain of Pavilion, 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

     She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, John M. Brewster, daughter-in-law, Virginia "Ginnie" Brewster and her brothers, Phillip and Ernest Pribison.

Byron- Theodora J. "Teddie" Schramm, age 79, of Byron, passed away Monday, October 14, 2019, at United Memorial Medical Center.

She was born April 17, 1940, in Brooklyn, a daughter of the late Howard F. and Juanita T. Wright Andrews.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald I. Schramm, whom she married February 25, 1955; her sons, Peter (Elizabeth) Schramm of Ernul, North Carolina, Raymond (Edna) Schramm of Batavia and Scott (Lori) Schramm of Middleport; her daughter, Cindy L. Day of Alabama; her daughter-in-law, Mary Schramm of Bergen; her brother, Richard (Sonia) Andrews of South Byron; her sister-in-law, Margaret Andrews of Lakeland, Florida; 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her son, Ronald H. Schramm, Sr. who passed away on June 5, 2015 and her siblings, Kenneth and Russell Andrews and Elizabeth Sprague.

EAST BETHANY - Robert R. Eckenbrecht, 83, of East Bethany, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019, at his home.

Mr. Eckenbrecht was born April 7, 1936, in Closter, NJ, the son of the late Otto and Minna (Buxetude) Eckenbrecht.

His wife, Mary T. (Pelligra) Eckenbrecht, died on August 27, 2003.

He served his country in the US Army and graduated from RIT with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.  He was an electrical engineer for GTE Sylvania and then Eastman Kodak Co., where he retired after over 15 years.  Robert was a true engineer at heart and registered and received at least 17 patents in the electrical engineering field.  Almost single handedly, he dug his basement and then built his own home on that basement in Bethany.  He loved gardening, raised his own vegetables, and enjoyed tormenting his friends and family with bad puns.   A quiet and generous man, he routinely donated to several health, political and animal rescue organizations.

Surviving is his daughter, Margaret (Jeffrey) Zampino, of Henderson NV.

Mrs. Fenello was an active member of the former St. Anthony’s Church where she volunteered at the annual Lawn Fete, taught Religious Ed., active with the Altar & Rosary Society and when the churches merged to form Ascension Parish, she volunteered on the bereavement committee. Sarah attended RIT to study art which allowed her talents in artistry, printing, photography, floral arrangements, seamstress and dress maker flourish. She was avid doll collector and participated in numerous craft shows throughout the area including the annual Letchworth Craft Show. She was involved in many community activities from the St. Joe’s Color Guard, Board of Elections, Batavia Garden Club, Holiday Tour of Homes and organizing her class reunions. Amongst all her activities Sarah worked for many years for Attorney’s Nick & Frank Zinni, Bob Harris Realty and Senior Center Manager in Oakfield, LeRoy and East Bethany. Sarah’s true love was family and friends and will be remembered for her beautiful smile that would brighten the room as she walked in.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Nicholas Fenello, loving sons, Christopher (Kathleen) Fenello of Darien Center and Nicholas J. Fenello of Batavia; cherished granddaughters; Kayla and Gianna; siblings, Anthony (Lisa) Barone of Williamsville, Marilyn (John) Jankowski of Batavia and Theresa Barone of Batavia along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Prayers will be recited 12:15p.m. Wednesday October 16, 2019 at the MICHAEL S. TOMASZEWSKI FUNERAL & CREMATION CHAPEL, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020 followed by a 1p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Ascension Parish (Sacred Heart). Sal Jr. graduated in 1992 from West Irondequoit High School and was a proud Irondequoit Indian.  Sal Jr., was an avid sports fan, and will be remembered as an outstanding hockey and baseball player.  He took great pride in coaching his son Tory in I.A.A for over 10 years.  Sal Jr., enjoyed horse racing, including annual family trips to Saratoga. The New England Patriots, New York Yankees and the Pittsburgh Penguins, where Sal's favorite teams.  Sal Jr., worked for 25 years as a Commercial Electrician, many of them spent at Per-Con Electric, as well as Landmark Electric.

Bernice J. (Logel) George, 79, of North Java, NY passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 in Buffalo, NY. She was born on October 15, 1939 to the late Joseph and the late Clara (Becker) Logel in Buffalo, NY. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald in 2013.

Bernice loved Bingo, going to the Casinos and Bowling. She had a gift of crocheting and knitting. She made hats, gloves, jackets and afghans for her children and grandchildren. She especially loved to ride around in the snow plows with her late husband, Ronald.

Bernice is survived by her children, Douglas (Brenda) George, Daniel (Shirley) George, and David (Karen) George; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held from 9:30 am- 11 pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Holy Family Church, 4316 Route 98, North Java, NY 14113.
