Louise G. McDuffie, 83, of Batavia, died Sept. 22, 2011 at the New York State Veterans Home, Batavia.

McDuffie was born July 19, 1928 in Tarboro, N.C. to the late William M. Grimmer and the late Mamie L. (Coburn) Grimmer.

McDuffie served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. She retired from Amtrak in Buffalo.

McDuffie is proceeded in death by her bothers Dennis, Cecil, Mack Grimmer; sisters Faye G. Muchow, Mary Catherine, and Lucy.

She is survived by her son Wesley G. McDuffie of Batavia; grandsons Kevin Bowman of FL; Levi McDuffie of Batavia; sister Melba G. Pomante of Tarboro, NC, along with many  nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday October 13, 2011 at the Batavia Assembly of God Church 24 North Spruce St. Batavia, New York 14020.

Burial will be private.

Michael A. Fricano, 85, passed away Sept. 22, 2011 at the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia.

He was born on Aug. 5, 1926 in Batavia, New York, to the late Joseph and Concetta (Boncinello) Fricano.

Mr. Fricano attended Batavia High School and a became journeyman printer working for the Democrat & Chronicle/Times Union newspaper. He was a member of Ascension Parish -- St. Anthony’s Church, the Holy Name Society, Our Lady of Loreto Society and life member of the former St. Nicholas Club.

Mr. Fricano was a World War II veteran and member of the VFW. He loved to golf and recorded a hole-in-one, and he was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish.

He is preceded in death by brothers Anthony, Sam and Joseph Fricano; and sisters Rose Patri and Carrie Germaine.

He is survived by his loving wife Pauline B. (LaRussa) Fricano; sons Michael J. (Joan), of Amherst; Gerald A. (Catherine) of Fairport; Paul V. (Vera) of North Chili; Patrick J. (Theresa) Fricano of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law Katherine Fricano of Lockport; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

Batavia resident Ronald P. “Grazo” Grazioplena, age 62, passed away on Sept. 21, 2011 at Strong Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Batavia on Nov. 14, 1948, son of the late Mario H. and Mary E. (Rossi) Grazioplena.

Mr. Grazioplena was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He had his Captain's License and owned Surfari Charters, guiding fishing trips on Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. 'Grazo'
was a long-time member of the Oakfield Rod and Gun Club, and Ducks Unlimited.

He is survived by: his sister Mary Ann Grazioplena, of Rochester; aunt Elaine Grazioplene, of Chili; close friend Scott Offhaus, of Batavia; along with many cousins.

Janice (Taylor) Morris, 64, of LeRoy died Tuesday (September 20, 2011) at her residence surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Jamestown, NY on April 18, 1947 and was a graduate of LeRoy High School.

Janice is survived by her former husband, LaVerne Morris Sr. Her children, Julie (Pat) Melady, Shannon (Tammy) Cleveland, Dixie (Glen) Myers and LaVerne "Jake" Morris Jr. A stepdaughter, Tabitha (Daniel) Brainard. Sisters, Barbara Farrell, Anita Foster and Cathy Taylor. Sixteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be Thursday (9/22/11) from 4 - 6 PM at the Church of Latter Day Saints, 601 North St., Batavia where services will follow.

Elba - Mrs. Eleanor J. Shuknecht, 79, of Elba, school teacher in the Elba Central School District until her retirement in 1988, died Monday, September 19, 2011 at the Genesee County Nursing Home.

Mrs. Shuknecht was born November 26, 1931 in Oakfield, a daughter of the late Charles and Ruth Lewis Sharp.

She was a member of Elba United Methodist Church and a 1953 graduate of Brockport State College. She was a member of the Genesee County Retired Teacher's Association, New York State Retired Teacher's Association and Western New York Draft Horse Association. She enjoyed bowling, bingo and knitting.

Her husband, LaVerne J. Shuknecht, died in 1988.

She is survived by two sons, Elton G. (Colleen) Shuknecht and Lynn T. (Bonnie) Shuknecht, both of Elba; a step-son, Lee N. (Joan) Shuknecht of Elba; five grandchildren, Christopher Shuknecht,  Katherine Shuknecht, Alex Shuknecht,  Eric Shuknecht, and Adam Shuknecht; four step-grandchildren,  Troy Shuknecht,  Dale Shuknecht,  Marc Shuknecht Wendy Shuknecht; two brothers,  Clayton (Helen) Sharp of Oakfield and Willard (Jean) Sharp of Gerradstown, West Virginia; a sister-in-law, Eva Sharp of Byron; seven step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Edward Sharp, Mary Louise Ives and Elizabeth Shuknecht and sister-in-law of the late Doris Sharp.

Doris M. Nonnengard, 91, of Batavia, died Friday (September 16, 2011) at United Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born in Batavia on April 14, 1920, the daughter of the late John and Laura Long Nonnengard.

Doris was employed as a clerk at the former Coca Cola Bottling Company in Batavia prior to her retirement and was a member of St. James Episcopal Church.

She is survived by her cousins, William “Bill” and Betty Long of TX, Donald Hoyt of Seneca Falls, Alan Hoyt of LeRoy, NY, Barbara and Mats Bruce, Eric, Nicole and Kevin Bruce, Beth and Gregory Craig, Ryan and Austin Craig all of TX.  Friends, Margery Bridge, Dan and Eileen Wiatrowski all of Batavia.

Batavia - Mrs. Mary Kathryn O'Geen, 46, of Batavia, died Thursday(September 15, 2011) at the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo.

Mrs. O'Geen was born May 13, 1965 in Batavia, a daughter of James Heveron of East Pembroke and the late Mary Ann (Tehan) Heveron.

Mrs. O’Geen, a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Genesee Community College, was a member of Resurrection Parish and a registered nurse at United Memorial Medical Center. She was an extremely kind and giving person who found fulfillment in helping and caring for others.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, especially for the children in the family.

Survivors include her loving husband, Fran O’Geen of Batavia; a son, Nicholas O’Geen of Batavia; three sisters, Eileen (Thomas) Boncore of Hamburg, Beth (Michael) Reimer of Batavia and Maureen (Thomas) Notaro of Lancaster; nieces and nephews, Julianna Boncore, Dominic Boncore, Morgan Reimer, Lauren Reimer, Aiden Reimer, Camden Reimer and Adriana Notaro; uncles and aunts, Bruce and Jeanette Tehan of Batavia, Bradley and Sheila Rogers of Batavia and Brian and Ann Heveron of Massachusetts; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Francis and Chip O’Geen of LeRoy.  Mrs. O’Geen is also survived by her many loving cousins.

She is predeceased by her grandparents, Frank and Kathryn Tehan and James and Mary Heveron; her brother, James and her sister Sheila.

JOSEPH S. GALLINE ~ Age 83, of Oakfield, died peacefully Wednesday morning September 14, 2011 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born July 28, 1928 in Rush Run, Ohio, son of the late Frank & Josephine (Barilla) Galline, also preceded in death by two sisters Mary Benedetti and Jennie Nesbit.

Mr. Galline is a longtime member of St. Padre Pio Parish and was retired from Comstock Foods. He loved his trips to the casino, having gone for the last time just two weeks ago. He most enjoyed family gatherings and time spent with his grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 63 years Minnie (Versaggi) Galline of Oakfield; son Frank Galline of Buffalo and daughter Sandy (Sean) Downing of Oakfield; sisters Teresa Velletta, Frances Cupler, Margaret Balduf all of Batavia, Josephine (Donald) Palone of Oakfield and Julia (Melvin) Drake of Appleton, NY; 2 grandchildren Christopher (Johnnie Lynn) Puccio of FL & Lori (Donald) Wray of Oakfield; 5 great-grandchildren Brittny, Ryan, Livia, Emma & Neile along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews & cousins.

PAUL A. MONACHINO ~ Age 88, of Elba, died peacefully Saturday evening September 10, 2011 at United Memorial Medical Center. He was born Nov. 9, 1922 in Elba, son of the late Sam & Clara (Palermo) Monachino, also preceded in death by his brothers Sam Jr. and James Monachino, sisters Philippa Monachino, Rose Tambe & Pauline Rizzardi.

Mr. Monachino was a retired onion farmer on the muck lands of Elba and a partner in Monachino Bros., Inc. A member of St. Padre Pio Parish in Elba, he and his wife loved to travel, especially trips to Las Vegas & Florida. Paul spent most of his life in and around the muck, but in later years his love for his grandchildren and their accomplishments brought him the most joy. Surviving is his beloved wife of almost 66 years Rose (Peca) Monachino of Elba; son Paul (Angela) Monachino of Oakfield; daughters Carol (Rich) Duganier of Elba & Joan (Michael) Brown of Rochester; brothers Norm (Cathy) Monachino of Batavia & Joseph (Lanor Markle) Monachino of Elba; 6 grandchildren Joseph, Michael, Christa, Cara, Nicole & Danny Monachino; sisters-in-law Ida Monachino of Batavia and Jine Monachino of Kansas along with many nieces, nephews & cousins.

AMBER LYN DOBIESZ, 64, of Batavia, passed suddenly Thursday Sept. 1, 2011 at her home.

She was born May 2, 1947 to the late Edward & Amy (Butters) Dobiesz, also preceded in death by her brothers Robert and William. Amber was previously employed by Kodak and the US Postal Service.

A 1965 graduate of Attica High School, Amber left this world with no regret, a global traveler, soulful friend and selfless visionist. Her passing has fulfilled her efforts to emblazon the diversity of our existence on all she touched. Pioneering an understanding that we all are worthy investments, she stood as a pillar for the misunderstood. Amber is survived by her children, loving family and loving friends.

Mary Ann Medley, 71, of Le Roy died Thursday (September 8, 2011). Prior to moving to Le Roy in 2003, Mrs. Medley was a longtime resident of Batavia. She was born June 23, 1940, in Oneida, NY, to the late Clifford D. and Gladys B. Sawner. After graduating third in her class from VVS Central High School, in Verona, NY, Mary Ann went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from SUNY at Oswego, graduating with honors, and began her teaching career as a first-grade teacher in Vernon, NY.

Mary Ann moved to Batavia with her husband in 1965 where she raised her family while continuing her teaching career as a substitute teacher in the Batavia School District. In 1976, Mrs. Medley began a 27-year career at Elba Central School where she taught reading, before retiring in 2002. She earned both her master’s degree, as a Dean’s Scholar, and post-master's certificates in reading education from SUNY Brockport.

Mary Ann loved spending time with family and friends, teaching, music, gardening, sewing, reading, her pets, and attending sporting events with her husband, but her pride and joy were her five grandchildren, whom she adored. She was active in the Elba Central School Retired Teachers Association and volunteered with Polish Falcons Nest #493 in Batavia.

Mary Ann Medley is survived by: her husband of 49 years, Roger A. Medley of Le Roy; her four children, Sue Ann Medley (Bangor, Maine); Douglas Austin (Jenny) Medley (Watertown, NY), John William Medley (Rochester, NY) and Cynthia Marie (David) Evanetski (Rochester, NY); her five grandchildren, Emily Jean Medley, Allison Marie Medley, Jacob Austin Medley, Ainsley Marie Evanetski and Cassidy Medley Evanetski. She is also survived by: sisters, Kathryn Sawner and Joyce (David) Howard; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Delos) Presowitz; brother-in law, Douglas A. (Phyllis) Medley; nieces and nephews, Denice, Brenda, Matthew, Bonnie Jean, Annamarie, Jonathan and Christian, and their families.

Harriet A. Toan, 91, of Perry, NY, died September 3, 2011 at her home. She was born in Dansville, New York on January 25, 1920 to the late Carlos (Alice Plough) Toan. She was a descendant of Thomas and Elizabeth Toan, who settled in Perry in 1826.

She graduated from Perry High School as salutatorian, earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, and later completed a master’s degree at Michigan State University.

An independent, adventurous woman, she traveled to 48 states, as well as Mexico and Ireland, and lived in four states. After working for many years as textiles and clothing specialist with the Cornell Extension Service, she retired to Perry in 1972 and became an active member of the Brick Presbyterian Church, Friends of Letchworth, and the Wyoming County Arts Council.

She is preceded in death by her stepmother, Ina, and two brothers, Herbert and James.

She is survived by: three sisters, Marian Hopkins of Chandler, Ariz., Margaret Tonne, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Audrey Edwards, of Charleston, IL; eight nieces and nephews, Stephen Hopkins, Susan Hopkins Ochs, Barbara Hopkins McGillivary, Serena Staffeld, Elizabeth Staffeld, Ollie Staffeld, Matthew Edwards, and Mary Edwards Remon; and 12 grandnieces and grandnephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. A memorial service at the Brick Presbyterian Church is planned for a later date. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, people contribute to the Brick Presbyterian Church 6 Church St. Perry, NY 14530.

Gary W. Pike

Gary was born in Rochester, NY, on December 10, 1951, a son of the late Everett W. and Ann Suzanne Godfrey Pike. A resident of Mt. Morris, Gary had lived in Perry and many years in Kansas. He made his career with the U.S. Army and had worked for Solomon Corp. in Kansas for several years. He was active in the VFW and American Legion in Salina, Kansas.

He is survived by: his wife, Donna DiSalvo Pike, whom he married on November 3, 1969; a son, Gary (Carrie Ann Grippo) Pike of Greece, NY; a daughter, Penny Pike, of Mt. Morris; three sisters, Sharon (Richard) Waite of Loxahatchee, Fla., Karen Hall of Nunda, Laura (Glenn) Spearman of Manitoba, Canada; two brothers, Everett (Hanna) Pike of Pavilion, Daryl Pike of Castalian Springs, Tenn.; A stepmother, Alberta Pike of Castalian Springs, Tenn.; four stepsisters, Denise Irwin of Chicago, Kathy Seighman of Nashville, Tenn., Laurie Irwin of San Diego, Calif., Beverly Daniel of Castalian Springs, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Mikaila and Justin Pike, along with several nieces and nephews.

Jane E. Satter, 89, of Perry, died September 8, 2011 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. She was born in Silver Springs on February 8, 1922 to the late Ralph (Mary Hume) Mullin.

Jane worked as a tax collector for the Town of Covington, in the cafeteria at Pavilion Central School, and she was happiest at home as a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Covington, UMW-United Methodist Women, and the Ladies Home Bureau.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the caregivers that she has had over the years.

She is preceded in death by her husband Melvin J. Satter (2008); brother Kenneth Sherwood; sisters Margaret Hildreth and Shirley Baker. She is survived by: her daughters Judith (William) Barrett of Covington; Betty (Tom Sylvester) Parker of Perry; Mary (John) Mooney of North Richland Hills, Texas; brother Ralph (Sharlie) Mullin of Arcade; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Mike T. Biondolillo

Mike was born in Warsaw, NY, on September 17, 1961, a son of Ronald Biondolillo and Phyllis Minnick Scott. He was a graduate of North East High School in St. Petersburg, Fla. He was a self-employed website designer, achieving several awards for his websites, and was a musician playing in the band 2nd Choice. He enjoyed music and playing his guitar.

He is survived by: his parents Phyllis Minnick Scott of Largo, Fla. and Ronald Biondolillo of Perry; a daughter, E.
