Daniel G. Forsyth

Daniel G. Forsyth, 57 of Batavia, passed away Friday May 1, 2015 at his home. He was born June 2, 1957 in Batavia to George Forsyth of Batavia and the late Betty (Snyder) Lane.

Dan was extremely loved and always willingly received his family’s joking antics.  He will fondly be remembered as a kind and patient father. By his family and friends he will be thought of as a lover of Zweigles, and peanut butter.  In his heart was a tender place for his family pets, and who could forget cow 600 who would nibble sheets of paper he fed her.  He was a workaholic who really just wanted to bask in the sun.  Even when facing the most difficult of situations he was thoughtful before speaking or acting. For strength he relied on the Lord and he relished in the times he spent with his beloved granddaughter Abigail.

He is survived by the apple of his eye; daughter Jessica M. (Lucas General) Forsyth of Batavia; her mother Lori Forsyth of Oakfield; granddaughter Abigail Rose Bestine of Batavia; sisters Deborah (William) Fries, Sandra (Robert) Wells both of Oakfield along with many nieces and nephews.

DIANE - age 63, passed away peacefully at her home in St. Pete Beach, FL May 1, 2015. She was born October 4, 1951 in Oakfield, NY to Stanley and Anna Weber of Basom, NY; surviving is her beloved husband, Dr. Michael Spinelli of FL; loving mother of, Julie (John) Falkowski of Batavia, Jodie (Alan) Borlaug of East Bethany, Jason (Carrie) Becker of Penfield, Jared (Shaun) Becker of Boston, MA; cherished grandmother of, Jerica and Jorryn Falkowski, Alan Jr., Alissa and Mariah Borlaug, Charlotte and Delia Becker; sister of, Barbara (Mike) Strollo of New Port Richey, FL, Stanley (Kate) Weber of LeRoy, Brian (Kelly) Weber of Porter, NY and the late JoAnn Weber and Alan Weber; several nieces and nephews survive.

BEATRICE E. REEVES

BEATRICE E. REEVES - age 93, of Corfu died peacefully Sunday afternoon April 26, 2015 at the Genesee County Nursing Home. She was born February 3, 1922 in Buffalo, NY a daughter of the late Joseph and Bernadette (Carroll) Betzer also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Reeves in 1993; brother, Joseph Betzer and granddaughter, Rhonda Reeves.

   Bea had a very strong faith, enjoyed reading and most of all the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

   Surviving are her devoted children, Richard (Patricia) Reeves of Corfu, June Harrison of Lancaster and Betty (Winfred) Wilson of FL; sisters, Marie Rogers of Rochester and Carol Redman of Hamburg; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

   There is no prior visitation, a Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 am Saturday June 13, 2015 at the Millgrove Bible Church 11517 Genesee Street Alden, New York 14004. Memorials in her memory are suggested to the church, she will be laid to rest alongside her husband in North Pembroke Cemetery.

June E. Stack

Batavia - June E. Stack, 80, of Batavia, a Certified Nurse’s Aide at Genesee County Nursing Home from where she retired, died Thursday, April 30, 2015 at United Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by her family. 

Mrs. Stack was born June 15, 1934 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Russell and Florence (Heffer) McClurg.

She was a member of the Oakfield United Methodist Church for over 50 years and of the Batavia Senior Quilters.  She enjoyed quilting, knitting, baking, playing games and knitted mittens for strangers. She was a great role model and never said no to a favor.  She was a care giver to several elderly in the community and she did all with a tender unselfish heart. 

She is predeceased by her first husband, Gerald Quartley who died in 1969 and her second husband, Daniel Stack, who died in 2009.

Survivors include 4 children, Karen (James) Harden of Hampton, VA, Paul Quartley of Oakfield, Brenda (Brian) Richardson of Basom and Nancy (Scott) Baxter of Batavia; 6 grandchildren, Eric (Megan), Ryan, Nicolette and Brandon Richardson, Stefani (Andrew) Campbell and Dani Baxter; 3 great-grandchildren;  a brother, Roy McClurg of Stafford; a sister, Lois (Edward) Schutt of Corfu, 2 sisters-in-law, Ethel McClurg of LeRoy and Eleanor Breen of Webster; 2 brothers-in-law, Robert (Kris) Stack of Pembroke and Gerald Tomaszewski of Batavia; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Ralph, Everett and Kenneth McClurg and Ruth Baubie.

John "Jack" C. Siracuse

John “Jack” C. Siracuse Jr., 60, of Batavia passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 28, 2015 at his residence. He was born August 23, 1954 in Puerto Rico Air Force Base to the late John Siracuse and Angeline (Maniace) Siracuse of Batavia.

John worked for Lend Lease Trucking in Batavia. He loved riding his Harley and walking his dog Jake.  He enjoyed visiting with all of his friends. John loved sitting on his porch and enjoying life.

He is survived by his loving wife Sandra D. (Conrad) Siracuse of Batavia; children John, Christopher and Candice Siracuse all of Batavia; brother Daniel Siracuse of Batavia; sister Sherry Siracuse of Batavia along with many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. A 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday May 4, 2015 at Ascension Parish 15 Sumner Street Batavia, New York 14020.

Janice L. (Poodry) Falcone

Janice L. (Poodry) Falcone of Weymouth, MA, died April 26, 2015.

She was the daughter of the late Chief Roy O. and Julia B. (Crouse) Poodry. 

Janice was a proud member of the Turtle Clan of the Onondaga Nation.  For over 20 years, she was the Employment and Training Director at the North American Indian Center of Boston.  She was a 20 year member of the Massachusetts Indian Commission. Janice was the recipient of numerous Department of Labor Awards for her outstanding achievements throughout her work career.

She was the beloved wife of 47 years to Guy Falcone of Weymouth, MA.  Loving mother of Deborah Falcone and her husband Matthew Bace of North Andover, MA and Anthony Falcone and his wife Stormy of Watsonville, CA.  Cherished “Grandma” of Katherine, Sarah, Alex, Aria, Melody and Lillian. Dear sister of Wilma Ianni and her husband Angelo of Akron, NY and the late Neal and Susanne Poodry. Janice is also survived by many loving cousins and friends.

Julia M. Brzezniak

Julia M. Brzezniak,100, of Batavia passed away peacefully on Sunday April 26, 2015 at Brothers of Mercy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born April 9, 1915 in Buffalo, New York  to the late John (Sarah) Rzepka. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Walter Bzezniak; son Ronald Brzezniak; brother Jack Rzepka and sisters Helen Eckhart, Florence Sherwood, and Leona Woods. 

Mrs. Brzezniak was an active member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish and the American Rose Society. She was involved with various charities and was known for her giving nature. You could often find her gardening as that was something she was truly passionate about.

She is survived by her son John (Ann) Brzezniak of Batavia; daughter Janet Brzezniak of Batavia; grandchildren Jennifer Ruhlman; Michael (Christina), Jonathyn, and Jaret (Michelle) Brzezniak; great-grandchildren Michael Ruhlman; Evelyn, Emily, Amelia, Elandria and Emmyt Brzezniak along with many nieces and nephews.

Sharon A. Maurer

Darien - Sharon Anne Maurer (McGuire), 77, died April 22, 2015, peacefully in her sleep at home after a brief illness.  She was born May 30, 1937 in Batavia, NY to the late William and Irene McGuire.   She graduated from Corfu High School in 1955 and married Frederick Henry Maurer, Jr. Sharon and Fred celebrated their 58th year of marriage on March 30, 2015.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed gardening, watching the birds at her feeder and the deer in her yard, spending time with her family and caring for her grandchildren. She was an avid supporter of all her children and could be seen on the sidelines for their many games and events cheering them on.  In recent years, she did the same for her grandchildren.

Sharon retired from the Pembroke Central School District where she served as a bus driver for thirty-five years. Mrs. Maurer is survived by her husband, Frederick; brother, Mitchell McGuire; sister Kathleen Federspiel; sister-in-law, Bernardine Maurer;  children; Edward (Sandy); Kenneth (Jennifer); Mark (Brenda); Suanne (Harold); Andrew; and Katrina (Jeffrey); grandchildren Michael, Kyle, Jessica, Taylor, Ashleigh, Alexis, Alexandra, Adam, Landon and Kalina; and great granddaughter Zoey.  She was preceded in death by her son, Frederick Henry Maurer, III.

A graveside service will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Crittenden on Tuesday, April 28th at Noon.

Philip J. "Uncle Phil" Rodon

Philip J. “Uncle Phil” Rodon, 75 of Batavia, passed away on Friday (April 24, 2015) at Buffalo General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
 
He was born March 17, 1940 in Batavia, NY, a son of the late Leo and Joan Helen Stawski Rodon.
 
Phil was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served his country from 1963-1965.  He was employed by American Stone Mix in Batavia for over 25 years, retiring November of 1994. He was also was a bartender at Kelly’s Holland Inn in Batavia for several years. Philly was a member of the Polish Falcons Nest in Batavia, carrying on the honorable tradition of his father and was also a member of the Polish Falcons Civic Club. His dedication as a member was proven in December 2010, when he was awarded the Gold Legion Cross of the Polish Falcons Legion of Honor.
 
Survivors include his daughter and son in-law, Kathleen (Todd) Bender of Batavia. Son and daughter in-law, Bradley (Shelly) Rodon of Warsaw. Grandchildren, Ryan Philip, Lindsey and Evan Bender of Batavia, Ryan James, Marlee and Tyler Stroud and Brittany Rodon, all of Warsaw.  Nephew, Scott (Sandie) Rodon of Batavia. Niece, Susan (Jeff) Godfrey of Arkansas.
 
He was the brother of the late Gerald (Clarice Ann) Rodon.

Alexandra J. "Sandy" Slack

Alexandra J. “Sandy” Slack, 68 of Batavia, passed away on Saturday (April 25, 2015) at her residence.
 
She was born May 27, 1946 in Rochester, NY, a daughter of the late Francis and Lily Shavel Peel.
 
Sandy was employed at Tops Market in Batavia as a clerk prior to her retirement.
 
Survivors include a son, John Paul Slack of Batavia. Brother, Dennis (Brenda) Peel of Brighton. Aunts, Mary Peel and Agnes Vandermark, both of Newburgh NY and Jeanne Sherman of New Windsor, NY.
 
There will be no prior visitation. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Fred J. Beck

Fred J. Beck, 71 of Attica, passed away on Friday April 24, 2015 at Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. He was born September 29, 1943 in Attica, to the late Albert (Frances Peuckert) Beck, Sr.. Fred is preceded in death by a son Freddie Beck; brothers Peter, Edward, Bill Beck and sister Lynn Kammerer.

Mr. Beck owned and operated B & W Construction in Attica. He was a past member of Knights of Columbus, the Warsaw Moose and Warsaw Vets Club. He enjoyed playing cards, golfing, bowling and horseshoes. Fred loved to tinker in the barn, work on old cars, being in the woods and cutting wood. He was a very handy man and was capable of fixing just about anything.

He is survived by his beloved wife Melody D. (Brotherton) Beck of Attica; children Robert (Jennifer) Beck of Attica; Peggy (John) Protulipac of Pavilion; Scott (Paula) Beck of Attica; Jamie (Marilyn) Beck of Pawling; Sarah (Chris) Wahl of Somerset; 15 grandchildren, Andy (Alexis), Adam, Allison, Rachel, Luke, Amanda (Jeremey), Katie, Steven, Joshua, Nathan, Elizabeth, Noah, Andrew, Daniel, Jakob; 4 great-grandchildren Kasey, Peyton, Tyson, and Sadie; brothers Carl (Nancy), Albert (Jeanne), Mike (Julie) Beck; sisters Gretel (Larry) Laing, Frances Beck, Pat (Dan) Racine, Edith Haise, along with many, many nieces and nephews.

Douglas W. Mess

Douglas W. Mess, 52, of Attica died suddenly Monday April 20, 2015 at his home.  He was born on May 15, 1962 in Rochester to the late Douglas Mess and Joyce Englert.

Doug worked as a Supervisor at Baskin Livestock in Batavia.  He was a long time farmer and a member of the Farm Bureau, the FFA while in school and was known as a great mechanic. 

He is survived by 4 sons; Douglas Mess, Matthew Zubek, Michael and James Mess all of Attica; sister Laura (Floyd) Scott of Perry and brother Robert Mess of Georgia; step-mother Rosetta Mess of OR; 3 step brothers Dan (Sandy) Brinlee, Steve (Kathy) Brinlee of OR; Larry (Barb) Brinlee of LA and a step sister Leval (Mike) Minten of OR along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

An 11:00AM Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday April 29, 2015 at the Alexander Fire Hall on Route 98 in Alexander, New York. Burial will be private.

June F. Chamberlain

Elba - June F. Chamberlain, 88, of Elba, passed away Monday (April 20, 2015) at her home in Elba.

June was born January 5, 1927 in Buffalo, a daughter of the late George and Marguerite (Poole) Ames.

June was a homemaker, who helped her husband on the farm.  She loved Snoopy, family genealogy and on October 4, 2014 June was inducted into the Oakfield-Alabama Alumni Hall of Fame.  June was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Holland Land Office, First Presbyterian Church of Elba and the Historical Societies of Elba, Oakfield and Pembroke.

Survivors include her children, Marjorie (Charles) Pangrazio, Wade (Nellie) Chamberlain, Herb Chamberlain and Roy (Pam) Chamberlain, all of Elba; her grandchildren, Todd (Sue) Pangrazio, Charles (Barb) Pangrazio Jr., Stephanie (Bob) Porter, Kevin (Rachael) Pangrazio, Cary (Rhonda) Pangrazio, Tony (Tonya) Pangrazio, Neal (Maryanne) Chamberlain, Benjamin Chamberlain, Dawn Riddell, Herb Chamberlain Jr., Zachary (Leah) Chamberlain, Ashley (Jay) Chamberlain and Shannon Lamie; twenty-five great-grandchildren; one brother, George (Roberta) Ames of Churchville and several nieces and nephews.

June is the wife of the late Carl Chamberlain and sister of the late Robert Ames and Betty Lawton.

Josephine P. Natolie

Josephine P. Natolie, 98 of Batavia passed away peacefully on Thursday April 23, 2015 at LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.  She was born November 22, 1916 in Buffalo to the late Frank (Rose Massa) Sardina. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Natolie in 2003, brothers Frank and Samuel Sardina, sister Ann Desimone.

Mrs. Natolie worked for 20 years at GTE Sylvania. She was a longtime member of Ascension Parish and honorary member of the former St. Nicholas Social Club. Mrs. Natolie enjoyed Bingo, playing cards and going to Las Vegas. She was extremely family oriented and was known for making amazing meatballs.

She is survived by her daughters Rosemarie (Donald) Suozzi, Carol (Robert) Frongetta; both of Batavia; grandchildren Donna Suozzi, Jacqueline Suozzi, Janice DellaPenna, Michael (Lancy) Frongetta all of Batavia, Mark (Erica) Frongetta of Elba; great-grandchildren Danielle and Gabrielle DellaPenna; Abigail, Alec, Benjamin and Sophia Frongetta; sister Rose LaGeorgia; sister-in-law Lois Sardina both of Perry; along with several nieces and nephews.

Jessie L. Huff

Jessie L. Huff, 92 of Lockport passed away Wednesday April 22, 2015 at the Newfane Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.  om She was born April 10, 1923 in Saybrook, PA to the late George (Harriet Custer) McClellan. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard L. Huff; brothers George and Gary and a sister Jane.

Jessie especially loved time with her family, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was a stalwart fan of the New York Yankees, rarely missing a game on TV. Her strong, kind, and loving heart got her through 92 good years.

She is survived by 3 sons; Daniel (Rachel) Huff of Wilson, Steven (Betsy Gilbert) Huff of Rochester and David (Shirley) Huff of Wesley Chapel, FL; 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
