A man already serving a 15-year prison term for molesting a toddler admitted in county court today that he also molested another child under age 11 in March.

James L. Little Jr., 41, formerly of Batavia, could get three-and-a-half years tacked onto his current sentence after accepting a plea deal from the District Attorney's Office.

Little was escorted to court by state prison guards and appeared in court shackled and in a kelly green jumpsuit.

He entered a guilty plea to sexual abuse in the first degree.

Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 29.

Batavia PD first arrested Little earlier this year for molesting a 2-year-old. Only after he was sentenced on that first charge did the second molestation, which occurred prior to Little's first arrest, come to light. 

Fifty-three-year-old Beverly Hensel was accused in court documents of supplying Little which child porn starting in 2008. She's entered a guilty plea to possession of child sexual performance and is scheduled for sentencing Jan. 9.

A driver was injured in a single-car accident on Indian Falls Road, Pembroke, shortly after midnight when he lost control of his vehicle and it overturned near Airville Road.

Scott Moore, 31, of Trumbull Parkway, Batavia, was transported to ECMC.

Charges are pending against Moore, according to the Sheriff's Office report prepared by Deputy Howard Carlson.

Moore was eastbound on Indian Falls at 12:49 a.m. when he reportedly failed to maintain his lane and exited the roadway off the left shoulder. The 2000 GMC pickup struck a ditch, overturned, struck a telephone box and came to rest on its roof.

Tyler J. Pratt, 16, of 41 Vine St, Batavia, is charged with criminal contempt, 2nd, menacing, 1st, and criminal possession of a weapon, 4th. Pratt allegedly called police at 11:35 p.m., Saturday, reporting a subject with a knife at a residence on Roosevelt Avenue. When officers arrived, they allegedly found Pratt in possession of the knife. Pratt reportedly ignored several orders to drop the knife and allegedly brandished it in a threatening manner toward officers. Pratt then reportedly attempted to flee and was taken into custody after a brief foot chase. Pratt is under court order to stay away from the residence of the alleged incident. Pratt was remanded to the Genesee County Jail on no bail. Officers who responded to the call were Frank Klimjack, Daryle Streeter, Eric Bolles and Jamie Givens.

Shari A. Yark, 50, of 4 Roosevelt Ave., Batavia, is charged with criminal contempt, 2nd, and endangering the welfare of a child. Yark is accused of allowing a person at her residence at 11:35 p.m., Saturday, who was barred from the residence and of contacting her daughter while allegedly knowing a stay away order of protection is in place.

Antonio Michael Giglia, 22, of Amherst Street, Buffalo, is charged with grand larceny, 4th, conspiracy, 5th, petit larceny, criminal possession of a controlled substance, 7th, and possession of burglary tools. Giglia was apprehended following a complaint of larceny at Target. The suspects allegedly left stolen merchandise behind and fled the store. Deputies later located the suspects' vehicle. Also arrested was Amanda Rose Renza. Renza is charged with grand larceny, 4th, conspiracy, 5th and petit larceny. The case was investigated by deputies Joseph Graff and Patrick Reeves.

Leon C. Bloom Jr., 30, of 5 Thorpe St., Batavia, is charged with burglary, 2nd, criminal mischief, 4th, and petit larceny. Bloom was taken into custody following a report of a burglary in progress Saturday at a location on Fordham Drive. Bloom was also charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, criminal mischief, 4th, petit larceny and harassment, 2nd. Those charges stem from an unrelated incident earlier in the day.

Kevin Edward Moscicki, 25, of Jakaub Road, Elba, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .18 or greater, refusal to submit to breath test, failure to yield right of way for emergency vehicle and driving left of pavement markings. Moscicki was arrested following a report at 8:16 p.m., Thursday, of a hit-and-run accident on Route 33, Town of Batavia. The suspect vehicle rear-ended a car parked on the shoulder of the roadway and fled the scene. At 9:05 p.m., dispatchers received a report of a Chevy pickup with front-end damage that was stopped at the intersection of Route 77 and Gabby Road, Town of Pembroke. The pickup was located by Deputy Patrick Reeves. Moscicki is also accused of leaving the scene of a property damage accident and moving from lane unsafely.

Melissa A. Williams, of Lake Street, Le Roy, is charged with petit larceny. Williams is accused of stealing two cans of Four Loko from a convience store in the village. Williams allegedly still possessed one can when she was located by Le Roy PD.

John W. Williams III, of 8170 Batavia Stafford Townline Road, Batavia, is charged with DWI. Williams was arrested by Batavia PD on a warrant. Williams was jailed on $1,000 bail.

Danny D. Williams, 24, of 18 East Ave., upper, Batavia, is charged with harassment, 2nd. Williams is accused of punching another person in the face and grabbing that person by the hair during a domestic incident at 10:40 p.m., Saturday. Williams was jailed on $250 bail.

Steven J. Mancuso-Haitz Jr., 28, of 110 Bank St., Batavia, is charged with criminal contempt, 2nd. Mancuso-Haitz turned himself in on a warrant for allegedly sending a letter to a protected party.

Dashawn Butler, 33, of 101 Summit St., right side, Batavia, is charged with unnecessary noise. Butler is accused of hosting an excessively loud party at his residence.

Scott C. Brown II, 24, of 3490 S. Main St. Road, Batavia, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Brown was reportedly asked to leave a local business for allegedly being unruly. When police arrived they found him allegedly in possession of marijuana.

A motorcyclist is down, and possibly unconscious on the roadway, at westbound on-ramp 48A of the Thruway. Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments are responding along with Mercy medics. Mercy Flight, en route to base after the accident in Darien, is in air, on standby.

UPDATE 4:41 p.m.: Mercy Flight is cancelled.

UPDATE 5:08 p.m.: Pembroke and Indian Falls are back in service. Didn't hear the status of the cyclist.

A Pembroke woman who allegedly supplied child pornography to a man later convicted of molesting toddlers entered a guilty plea in Genesee County Court today to one count of possession of sexual performance of a child.

As a term of the plea deal, Beverly Hensel, 53, of 8921 Alleghany Road, Pembroke, could receive up to 10 years probation and an intermittent jail term.

She also will not face federal prosecution.

Hansel admitted to possessing child pornography between January 2008 and December 2009.

According to court documents, Hansel met James L. Little Jr., 41, formerly of Batavia, at a bar in Corfu. During the meeting, Little said Hansel offered to acquire child pornography for him.

"Bev knew I was having certain feelings," Little wrote in his deposition as part of the court documents filed with Hansel's arrest. "Bev gave me my first child porn DVD around January of 2008."

Little is currently serving a 15-year sentence for molesting a toddler in Batavia last year and has been charged with molesting a second child.

Hansel will be sentenced Jan. 9.

A driver allegedly turned her car in front of another vehicle causing a minor-injury accident on Route 77 in Pembroke at 5:28 p.m., Sunday.

Cited for alleged failure to yield the right of way was Bernadine Lindquist, 77, of Judge Road, Basom.

Lindquist was the only person treated at a hospital after the accident. She was transported by Mercy EMS to UMMC.

Her passenger, Ray Lindquist-Saile, 10, was not injured.

The other driver, Gregory M. Deiuba, 20, of Margaret Drive, Clarence, complained of pain, but was not taken to a hospital.

According to Deputy Tim Westcott's report, Lindquist was northbound on Route 77 when she attempted to make a left-hand turn into the Flying J parking lot. Her 2006 Dodge sedan was struck by Deiuba's 1999 Nissan SUV.

A two-car accident is blocking traffic at 8484 Alleghany Road, in front of the Flying J Travel Center. Pembroke and Indian Fall fire departments are responding along with Mercy EMS. Unknown injuries.

UPDATE 5:35 p.m.: The accident is partially blocking the entrance to the travel center. There are two injuries reported, unknown severity.

UPDATE 5:59 p.m.: One person is being transported to UMMC for evaluation. No word on the status of others.

UPDATE 6:09 p.m.: A 76-year-old female is being taken to UMMC complaining of right leg pain after the vehicle she was driving was allegedly T-boned on the passenger's side as she attempted to turn north on Route 77. She was wearing a seat belt. Also, an 11-year-old boy is being taken to UMMC, accompanied by his grandmother, for evaluation.

UPDATE 6:15 p.m.: The responders are back in service.

More than a half dozen media outlets turned up in Corfu today for the Pembroke Town Court appearance of Alicia Guastaferro -- the reality TV celebrity who is charged with prostitution and possession of drugs.

As is typical for an arraignment at this stage of the legal process, Guastaferro, 20, of Williamsville, entered a not guilty plea to criminal Impersonation, criminal possession of a controlled substance and prostitution.

Attorney Dan Killelea said prior to his client's next court appearance Dec. 11, he will meet with Assistant District Attorney Robert Zickl and discuss the case. That discussion will help determine what happens next.

At age 16, Guastaferro appeared in the reality TV series "Wife Swap," a series on the Lifetime Network that involves unhappy spouses switching families for a week.

She was arrested Aug. 29 with Rochester attorney James Doyle, 54, who is accused of DWI, refusing a breath test, providing alcohol to a person under age 21 and patronizing a prostitute.

The Genesee/Wyoming Music Educators announce that 38 local students will be performing at three music festivals in November and December.

Miranda Graham (chorus-alto) from Le Roy has been accepted to Conference All State that will be held in early December. This is the highest choral honor for vocalists in New York. Miranda was chosen from a large field of students due to her high score at State Solo Festival last spring. Dillon Hirsch (saxophone) from Elba was chosen as an alternate.

Thirty-six other students were chosen to represent their schools at Area All State, which is a group of select singers from nine surrounding counties. All students had to audition at a state solo festival held late last spring.

These festivals will take place for seventh- through ninth-graders (jr. high
orchestra/chorus/band) Nov.  2-3, and for 10th-12th-graders (sr. high orchestra/chorus/band) Nov. 16-17.

Pembroke has been forced to cancel its Genesee Region match-up with Holley in Holley on Saturday.

For Holley, that apparently means no homecoming game.

Athletic Director Ron Funke said the team came out of its last game with only 16 healthy players -- the bare minimum required by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association. Then on Tuesday, a player was scratched after reporting he had mono.

"The rules say we need 16 players," Funke said. "We apologize (to Holley) for that, but there is nothing we can do. It is what it is."

Funke said the school looked at all of its options, but without a JV team there was just no chance to get enough players on the roster for Saturday's game.

It's been a tough year for the Dragons, who are 0-5, being shut out twice, scoring more than seven points in only one game and giving up 30 or more points every time out.

A parent who contacted The Batavian said he traced the problem to the addition of boys soccer to Pembroke's varsity schedule.

Two years ago, coaches, parents and students lobbied the board of education to bring soccer back to the school.

Funke said there is no correlation between the addition of soccer and the shortage of football players.

Last year the team had 24 players and 20 of them were seniors. This year, the team has only three seniors.

"I'd like to see what kids on that team who want to play football that aren't (playing football) anyway," Funke said. "They're very different sports."

Dan Courtney, athletic director for Holley, hasn't responded to our request for information on what Holley's plans are for Saturday and homecoming without an opponent.

Nabbed through DNA evidence in May for a Dec. 15 break-in of a Town of Batavia home, a 19-year-old Buffalo man entered a guilty plea in Genesee County Court today and faces up to seven years in prison.

Steven Carnell McKnight, already sentenced to a prison term of one to three years for an unrelated crime in Erie County, will be sentenced Oct. 15.

McKnight will be sentenced on two charges. There's today's guilty plea on second- degree attempted burglary, plus an earlier plea to the same charge for a break-in Dec. 14 in the Town of Pembroke.

All three sentences -- Erie County, Pembroke and Batavia -- will be served concurrently.

The entire sentence range, from probation up to seven years in prison, is available to Judge Robert C. Noonan. McKnight could have been sentenced today under the plea arrangement, but there is paperwork that must be completed first.

About 20 disgruntled truckers and their rigs have clogged the parking lot of the Flying-J Travel Center in Pembroke and one of them called dispatch, demanding to speak to troopers about DOT road work. State crews are making repairs on the highway that are causing them to sit idling and they are not happy "with the whole situation." Troopers are responding to the complaint.

The travel plaza is at 8484 Alleghany Road, off the I-90, Exit 48A.

It was an accident that emergency responders acknowledge could have been much worse.

The initial call at 12:13 p.m. was for a semi-truck hitting a school bus and pushing it over on its side on Route 5 near Wortendyke Road.

Four ambulances were dispatched, Mercy Flight was put on standby and East Pembroke Chief Don Newton requested mutual aid from Batavia, Alexander, Darien and Oakfield.

"We didn’t know if the school bus was full of children or not so a lot of ambulances were dispatched as a safeguard," said Sheriff Gary Maha. "You can always turn them back."

As it turns out, most of the responding units were put back in service.

There was only one pre-K child on the bus and he did not appeared to be injured. As required by code, he was taken to UMMC for evaluation.

Both drivers were evaluated at the scene and no injuries were reported.

The Pembroke Central School District bus was eastbound on Route 5 and was stopping to make a left-hand turn into a driveway to pick up another student when it was rear-ended by the tractor-trailer.

The bus skidded forward in a semicircle and landed on its side in the front yard of a residence on the north side of Main Street Road.

The driver and child were able to walk out the rear emergency exit.

"It could have been a lot worse," Newton said. "Thankfully, there was only one child on the bus and the driver was uninjured and the child is being taken to UMMC for evaluation, but it doesn’t look like anything too serious at this time."

Maha said it was too early in the investigation to determine if the truck driver -- whose name has not yet been released -- was distracted prior to the accident.

The driver, Maha said, claims the bus driver had not activated its bus stop lights; the bus driver, Maha said, told investigators he had activated the lights.

Children on school buses are not required to wear safety belts and the child on this bus was not belted, Maha said.

The trucking company involved has requested the trucker's load be released, but state authorities have requested the trailer be impounded until Wednesday pending further investigation.

The Kiwanis Club of Corfu, Pembroke and Darien hosted a vintage auto show in Pembroke Town Park today.

The Blue Devils dropped off the list of the undefeated in Genesee County on Friday with a 30-12 loss to Livonia.

Le Roy kept its perfect record in tack with a 35-28 over Avon, while in the Genesee Region Conference, three teams sit atop the standings at 3-0 -- Elba/Byron-Bergen, Notre Dame and Attica.

Elba/BB beat Holley 27-7 with Zack DuBois rushing for 156 yards on 22 carries, scoring once. QB Zack Gillard was 7-14 for 167 yards and two TDs. He also carried the ball five times for 29 yards and a touchdown. Austin Yockel had four receptions for 141, including a 44-yard TD reception. Ryan Morse had a 10-yard TD reception. Andy Underhill made 23 tackles. Brandon Naylor had 14 tackles.

Notre Dame moved to 3-0 with a win over Alexander 36-6. Tim McCulley completed 11 passes on 20 attempts for 187 yards, including TD tosses of 14 and 35 yards to Charlie Hebert and Jared Thornton. Nick Taylor had TD runs of 26 and 89 yards. Andrew Mullen carried the ball 11 times for 65 yards. For Alexander, Dylan Scharlau had 18 carries for 117 yards and QB Nelson Burke was 8 of 17 for 128 yards, including a TD pass to 36-yard TD to Sam Browne. Burke was intercepted twice.

Pembroke dropped to 0-3 with a loss to undefeated Attica 47-0. Four turnovers by the Dragons led to four Attica TDs. Pete Thomas had 12 tackles for Pembroke and Caleb Patterson and Jared Kolmetz each recovered two fumbles.

For Batavia, in the Blue Devils 30-12 loss to Livonia, Nick Canzoneri rushed for 40 yards on eight carries, scoring once. James Soggs had 11 carries for 85 yards.

Le Roy's third win was highlighted by Peter Privitera's 181 yards on 39 carries and two touchdowns. Both Marcus Mistersaro and Dylan Johnson scored on the ground. T.J. Crye was 13-of-27 for 173 yards.

Oakfield-Alabama improved to 1-2 with a win over Finney (1-2), 20-16. Ryan Emery scored twice and carried the ball for 99 yards. Chris Nanni rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. Danny Monachino and Tommy Geiss each recorded 12 tackles.

New York State Department of Transportation is undertaking a preventative maintenance project next week to resurface portions of Route 5 and Route 77 in Pembroke, Genesee County.

The project limits on Route 77 are from the New York State Thruway to a half mile south of Route 5, and on Route 5 from the Erie County line to just east of Route 77.

Pending favorable weather conditions, the road work will begin Monday, Sept. 17 and is expected to take about five days to complete. Crews will work between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone, one direction at a time. Motorists are advised to allow extra time to safely proceed through the highway work zone.

A 2-0 win over Attica gave the Pembroke Boys Varsity Soccer Team its first win since soccer was brought back to the school last year. The Dragons took the early lead on a goal by Austin Franclemont with Tyler Ross on the assist. The team then played a solid game in front of Morgan McGiveron, who was perfect in goal stopping all the shots he faced. The insurance goal was scored by Gabe Birkby, assisted by Collin Lewis.

A motor vehicle accident with injuries has been reported on Route 77 in front of the T/A Travel Plaza.

A semi-truck is involved and the side-saddle gas tank is reportedly leaking.

Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments dispatched.

UPDATE 9:29 a.m.: Akron Fire requested mutual aid with a pumper. Also, ambulances requested from Akron and Darien. All Mercy EMS ambulances are tied up on calls.

UPDATE 9:33 a.m.: Three patients. No entrapment. Hazmat situation with leaking diesel fuel. All available manpower from Corfu Fire Department requested to the scene.
