The Town of Batavia Fire Department had their Annual Installation of Officers Saturday night.

Batavia - Mary F. Mullen, 98, died Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Genesee County Nursing Home.
Mrs. Mullen was born November 19, 1917 in Batavia, the daughter of the late Henry and Sophia (Tetz) Tandlmayer.
A member of Resurrection Parish (St. Joseph’s Church) for many years she, her late husband and their families provided the chairmanship of the Cadillac Raffle at the Church’s annual lawn fete. Mrs. Mullen also belonged to the Home School Associations of St. Joseph’s School and Notre Dame High School and was lifetime member of the Batavia Lioness Club.
She was the wife the late Robert W. Mullen who died in 1993 and sister of the late Herbert Tandlmayer.
Survivors include three sons; Robert (Laura) Mullen of Batavia, Richard (June) Mullen of Byron and William (Joyce) Mullen of Brockport; two daughters, Mary Anne Mullen of Batavia and Ann Marie (late Dr. S. Paul) Dhanda of East Bethany. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, several great and great greatgrandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 E. Main St., Batavia. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. at Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph Church, 303 E. Main St. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s School, 2 Summit St. Batavia, NY 14020, Notre Dame High School, 73 Union St., Batavia, NY 14020 or the Sisters of Mercy, 625 Abbott Rd. Oakfield - Virginia R. Mullen, 86, of Oakfield, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Mullen was born September 10, 1931 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Anson and Helen Rowcliffe Speed.
A graduate of Elba Central School, Mrs. Mullen regularly attended services at East Shelby Community Bible Church. She enjoyed knitting and reading. Her greatest joy was being with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Kenneth M. Mullen, who passed away on September 16, 2015. They were married on June 14, 1952.
She is survived by her children, Stephen (Crystal Hawley) Mullen of Batavia, Deborah (Alan) Dennis and John (Lisa) Mullen, both of Oakfield; three sisters, Lucille (late William) Schultz and Beverly (Jack) Hillabush, both of Elba and Jeanette (late Gerry) Grazioplene of Batavia; her sister-in-law, Nancy Speed of Elba; ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her brother, Roger I. Speed.
Virginia’s family wishes to extend their most sincere thank you to the Emergency Room doctors and nurses and the nurses on the 2nd floor at United Memorial Medical Center for the comfort and care which was provided to their mother.

Batavia - Norlene A. Fazio, 79, of Batavia was an active person who was dedicated to her family, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at United Memorial Medical Center.
Mrs. Fazio was born March 27, 1936 in Elba, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Ogreta Frens Boyce.
Her husband, William F. Fazio, Jr., passed away on August 26, 2012.
She is survived by her children, Crystal (Stephen Mullen) Hawley of Batavia, Michael (Kim Saxton) Fazio of Bergen and Bonnie (Lynn) Shuknecht of Elba; five grandsons, Daniel (Linda) Rimmer of Pittsford, Tim (Anne) Rimmer of Rochester, Alexander (Kate) Shuknecht of Elba, Eric (Kayla) Shuknecht of Elba and Adam Shuknecht of DeWitt, Michigan; and four great-grandchildren, Reagan and Carter Rimmer and Avery and Jacob Shuknecht.

Mr. Ronan served on the City Police force for over 20 years and 9 years on the bench for the Town of Batavia. He is a United States Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and was a long time member of St. Anthony's R.C. Church and current member of St. Maximillian Kolbe Parish in East Pembroke. A charming man, quick witted with a wonderful sense of humor, he enjoyed camping and family trips, had a love of music and though never in public was known to have a beautiful singing voice. His home was his castle and he was always working hard to keep it up, family, friends and neighbors will remember him on his John Deere mower keeping the lawn at the perfect height.
His accomplishments in law enforcement and as a judge were many and his peers remember him as fair, but tough. Family, education and hard work were paramount to Mr. Ronan, he and his wife worked tirelessly to give their daughters a good education. He was so very proud of his girls and grandchildren and his strong devotion to his family and his faith lives on in all of them. Bernard loved to travel and see his grandchildren and what they were involved in, but as his health deteriorated he was unable to do so, but always made sure they knew how proud he was of them.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 54 years, Rose Mary (Joy) Ronan of Batavia and his beloved daughters, Mary Katherine (Steven) Fisher of Batavia and their children, Kaleigh Kathleen, Steven Ronan, Maxwell Connor & Cullen O'Connell; Margaret (William) Tretter of Pittsburgh, PA and their children, Paige Alexis, Madisen Rose & Spencer Davis; Patricia (Gerald) Thompson of Halfmoon, NY and their son, Gerald Arthur III "Trey"; Judith (Neal) Pason of Kintnersville, PA, and their children, McKenna Joy, Carter Hart & Holly Mae along with several nieces and nephews.
The Ronan family will be present from 6-9 p.m. Thursday January 8, 2015 at the MICHAEL S. TOMASZEWSKI FUNERAL & CREMATION CHAPEL, LLC 4120 WEST MAIN STREET ROAD BATAVIA, NEW YORK 14020 where prayers will be recited 9:15 a.m. Friday January 9 followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial St. Maximillian Kolbe Parish (East Pembroke Site) followed by full military honors. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Amelia "Molly" Jankowski after almost 60 years of marriage.
He was born June 15, 1933 in Batavia, a son of the late Frank and Jennie Brzeczkowski Jankowski.
Geno was dedicated to his wife and his 5 children, as well as his grand and great- grandchildren, often mentioning how much his family meant to him. He and Molly were snowbirds for many years, spending winters in Largo, Florida and summers at Silver Lake in Perry, NY. His sense of humor was a trait that drew people in.
He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. He was also a lover of all sporting events and spent many of his younger days coaching baseball as well as watching his children and grandchildren engage in their individual sports.
He was a diehard Buffalo Bills fan who hoped every year for a Super Bowl win, and was a season ticket holder for many years. He passed on that love (and heartache) of the Bills to many of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Ascension Parish in Batavia and St. Joseph's Church in Largo, where he was an usher.
He was employed for almost 50 years as a Chief Draftsman at Graham Manufacturing prior to his retirement and took up a job in Largo at a golf course during the winter.
He was a Korean war era veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, and traveled throughout Europe before coming home and marrying his wife.
Geno was a loving father and husband and will be missed but never forgotten.
Eugene is survived by his five children, Eugene (Leanne) Jankowski Jr. of Batavia, Sandra (John) Wojtaszczyk of Elba, Donald (Jeni) Jankowski of Marana, AZ , Mary Klein and Daniel Jankowski of Batavia. Grandchildren, Bryan Jankowski, Jennifer (Josh) Price, Dr. Julie Thomas, Lisa Wojtaszczyk, Matthew (Danielle) Wojtaszczyk, Nathaniel Mullen, Marissa Klein, Arielle Arsenault, Kristen Klein, Jessica and Blake Jankowski. Great-grandchildren, Austin, Ella and Gina Price, Dawson, David, Annabella and Deacon Wojtaszczyk, David III and Alexander Thomas. He was also fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews and his sisters and brother, Rita Byrne, Jeanette (Robert) Terry and John (Marilyn) Jankowski.
He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
The family will celebrate Eugene’s life during a Mass of Christian Burial at Ascension Parish (corner of Swan and Sumner) on Friday, June 22nd at 9:30am. Burial and full military honors will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Working midnight shifts in the days before he died of a heart attack, Deputy Frank Bordonaro handled some very stressful calls -- a fire where he may have saved the life of a homeowner and a farm-vehicle accident that took the life of a 22-year-old man.
People don't realize it, but
From this day forward, when city firefighters pass down the hall leading into the aparatus bay to answer an alarm for a fire or medical call, they will pass a picture of Capt. Loren J. Michel, the only city firefighter to ever die in the line of duty.
