Car hits pole on East Road near Route 63, Bethany

A car has struck a pole, with unknown injuries, on East Avenue near Route 63, Bethany.

Child struck by car in Pembroke in critical condition

A 10-year-old child from China who was struck by a car last night on Route 77 by the Flying-J is listed in critical condition at Women and Children's Hospital, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The child, whose name has not been released, remains in the Intensive Care Unit.

The accident was reported at 8:17 p.m. after the child reportedly failed to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic.

No charges were filed against the driver whose car struck the child.

Two-car accident at East Main and North, Le Roy

A two-car accident is reported at East Main and North streets, Le Roy.

Unknown injuries.

Le Roy fire and Le Roy ambulance dispatched.

A chief on scene says to hold the assignment to one engine.

UPDATE 1 p.m.: Intersection cleared. Le Roy fire back in service.

Child seriously injured after being hit by car on Route 77 in Pembroke

A 10-year-old boy from Kunming, China, was seriously injured last night after being hit by a car on Route 77 in front of the Flying J Travel Plaza in Pembroke.

Investigators say the child tried crossing the road without yielding the right of way to cross traffic at 8:17 p.m.

He was hit by 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Kenneth R. Paulter, 62, of Lancaster.

The boy was taken by Mercy Flight to Women and Children's Hospital in Buffalo.

Paulter was not injured and no charges have been filed as a result of the accident.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Rachel Diehl and members of the Genesee County Sheriff's Office. Assisting at the scene were the Pembroke Fire Department, Indian Falls Fire Department, Corfu Fire Department and Mercy EMS.

Pedestrian hit in front of Flying J, Pembroke

A car vs. pedestrian accident is reported on Route 77 in front of the Flying J Travel Plaza, Pembroke. 

Pembroke fire and Indian Falls fire along with Mercy EMS are responding. 

Mercy Flight also dispatched. 

Corfu fire requested to shutdown all northbound traffic at Route 5.

UPDATE 8:26 p.m.: Southbound traffic shutdown at the interchange. 

UPDATE 8:30 p.m.: ETA for Mercy Flight #5 out of Batavia is six to eight minutes. Landing zone at the Town Hall. 

UPDATE 8:36 p.m.: Mercy Flight on the ground. 

UPDATE 8:58 p.m.: Mercy Flight in the air. Flying to Women and Children's Hospital in Buffalo. Road reopened. Pembroke and Indian Falls back in service. 

Rollover accident with unresponsive driver reported on Simonds Road, Darien

A single-vehicle rollover accident is reported at 10058 Simonds Road. The vehicle rolled over several times, according to the person calling dispatch. The driver is unresponsive.

Darien Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE: A male driver suffered serious injury. Taken to ECMC by Mercy Flight. A female passenger transported to strong by ground ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. Sheriff's Office investigation underway. Crash Management Team on scene.

UPDATE 7:30 a.m.: The driver has been identified as Timothy W. Rohl, 51, of Cedarwood Terrace, Rochester. The passenger was Christine L. Ost, 41, who was also the owner of the 2005 Ford Escape. The vehicle was eastbound on Sumner Road when it failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway and traveled off the east shoulder of Simonds Road. The vehicle rotated counterclockwise, traveling off the west shoulder of the road, down an earth embankment, which caused it to rollover and come to rest on its wheels facing south. The crash is under investigation and charges are pending. Unsafe speed is considered to be a factor in the crash. The investigation is being conducted by Sgt. Jason Saile, Investigator James Diehl, Deputy and Ryan DeLong. Assisting at the scene were Darien fire, Mercy EMS and NYSP.

Accident with injuries reported on Clinton Street Road, Bergen

An accident with injuries, blocking traffic, is reported at 7520 Clinton Street Road.

Bergen Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding and Mercy Flight is on ground standby.

UPDATE 9:33 p.m.: A firefighter on scene reports two patients, no extrication necessary and Mercy Flight not needed.

Truck takes down power lines on Edwards Street, Batavia

A truck has reportedly hit a pole, taking down power lines in the area of 25 Edwards St., Batavia. 

No injuries are reported. 

City fire responding.

Tow-truck driver drives off road after suffering medical issue

A tow-truck driver suffered a minor medical issue while driving on Clinton Street Road near Grand View Cemetary when he lost control of his vehicle while trying to pull over, and the truck continued to travel off the roadway striking some signs. He was not injured in the crash. Sheriff's Office, Batavia fire, and Mercy EMS responded.

Driver killed Saturday night in crash on Bovee Road in Bergen's fire district

A one-car accident Saturday night in the Bergen fire district took the life of the car's sole occupant, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

The accident was reported at 8:05 p.m. at 321 Bovee Road, Riga.

Bergen fire and Mercy EMS were dispatched. The driver of the vehicle was deceased when first responders arrived on scene.

The female driver has yet to be positively identified by the medical examiner.

Investigators say the vehicle was eastbound on Bovee Road when the driver lost control. The vehicle spun sideways, crossed the south shoulder and struck a tree on the driver's side.

The stretch of roadway is flat and straight.

The investigation is ongoing.

A two-car accident with entrapment and injuries is reported on Route 77 in front of the Flying J, Pembroke.

Pembroke fire and Indian Falls fire dispatched.

Two ambulances requested to the scene.

UPDATE 11:12 p.m.: Two people entrapped, including the driver. The other in a backseat. All other occupants out of the vehicles.

UPDATE 11:15 p.m.: Ambulance from Darien requested, non-emergency.

UPDATE 11:26 p.m.: First patient extricated.

UPDATE 11:27 p.m.: Second patient extricated.

Possible serious injury accident on Bovee Road, Bergen

A car has reportedly stuck a tree and at least one person is entrapped with possible serious injuries in the area of 321 Bovee Road, Bergen.

Begen fire and Mercy EMS responding.

UPDATE: We heard no more traffic on this call. It was actually in Monroe County (though still Bergen's district). It's not likely we'll have any further updates.

Bicyclist seriously hurt in accident on Route 5, Le Roy

A bicyclist was seriously injured this morning in an accident on Route 5 in Le Roy after the cyclist allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic.

The cyclist was struck by a vehicle at 8:17 a.m.

Darwin G. Matthews, 73, of Le Roy, was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Le Roy Ambulance with serious physical injuries. 

The driver of the vehicle, a 2003 PT Cruiser, Megan L. Furr, was treated at the scene and released.

The accident is being investigated by Sgt. Jason Saile, Investigator Chad Minuto, Deputy Andrew Hale, Deputy Lonnie Nati, Le Roy PD Officer Emily McNamara. 

Le Roy Fire Department also responded.

Car hits pole on Route 19 in Bergen, causing damage to parked vehicles

An early-morning, one-vehicle accident on Route 19 in Bergen caused a utility poll to fall and damage a 2000 Harley-Davidson and a pickup truck parked at a residence.

There were no injuries reported.

Kenneth Richardson, age not provided, of Warboys Road, Byron, was southbound in a 2008 Chevy sedan when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle. It rotated clockwise, traveling off the west shoulder of the road, striking a mile marker sign, then continuing south and hitting a National Grid utility pole. The pole broke, causing damage to the motorcycle and a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado.

The accident report indicates Richardson may have been traveling at an unsafe speed.

The accident, which occurred at 3:11 a.m., was investigated by Deputy Travis Demuth.

Man unconscious after tire explosion at Zuber Farms, Byron

A man is unconscious after a tire exploded at Zuber Farms, 5633 Tower Hill Road. Byron Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. Mercy Flight in Batavia is put on ground standby.

UPDATE 12 p.m.: Mercy Flight is cancelled.

UPDATE 12:02 p.m.: The chief on scene says responders can continue in non-emergency mode to the structure east of the main building. A tire exploded off its rim, striking the victim.
