GOW Task Force meeting in Stafford, focus is 'Non-opioid Alternatives to Pain Management'

The quarterly meeting of the GOW Opioid Task Force will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, in the Stafford Fire Hall, located at 6153 Main Street in Stafford.

The focus will be "Non-opioid Alterntatives to Pain Management." The public is invited to attend this free event.

Come and join us for a discussion about this topic and get a first look at our new Post-Narcan Administration video.

We will also be having local professionals speak and there will be numerous vendors to share their expertise.

Solar farms are all the rage now aren’t they?

The consensus seems to be that taxpayers are paying the folks who lease their land for these farms and the solar companies. They are installing equipment with a fairly short useful life and possible ill effects on our health, and changing our beautiful country landscapes into something less appealing.

Without the subsidies, they would not cover their costs.

Genesee-Orleans OUT! hosts inaugural Pride Parade and Festival in Batavia, starts at Austin Park

Genesee-Orleans OUT! will be hosting their first ever Pride Parade and Festival in Bataiva from 6:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday, June 28th.
 
Line up for the parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Austin Park in Batavia. The parade will conclude on Bank Street at the GO ART! building where there will be food and entertainment! It is located at 212 E. Main St.

Rummage Sale at Northgate church's South Campus to benefit Rwandan school and All Babies Cherished

A few months ago, the pastors at Northgate Free Methodist Church gave a series of messages based on a book by Rick Warren titled, “40 Days of Community.” The book outlines five purposes for people to fulfill in community with other people -- people within your church family, small groups and in the world around you.

Rock the Block Summer Block Party at corner of Main and Liberty

A top U.S. Checkers champ plays in Batavia Downs' exhibition

Representatives from Batavia Downs today announced an upcoming Checkers exhibition with nationally ranked Checkers player John Herberger, of Akron, will take place on Monday, June 24th at noon at 34 Rush Sports Bar.

Herberger, who has ranked as high as 55th in the United States among Checkers players, holds the title of Master and has placed in several local and international tournaments in his career.

Herberger will play 10 games of Checkers at once versus opponents inside 34 Rush at Batavia Downs.

New Ameriprise office in Batavia hosts grand opening celebration

Today is a grand opening celebration of the new Ameriprise office in Batavia, at 219 E. Main St. (the old Key Bank building on the corner of East Main and Summit streets).

It will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. (June 7).

There will be food trucks, beverages and live music. There is no cost or obligation to attend.

It is hosted by Mark E. Woodward of Woodward and Associates -- a private wealth advisory practice, and Scott Neff and Gilbert Mulcahy of the Mulcahy Neff Group -- a financial advisory practice.

American Legion celebrates 100th anniversary with big wingding in Centennial Park

The American Legion is 100 years old this year, and we are inviting the community to help us celebrate!

Tomorrow on June 8th, the place to be to honor this centennial is Centennial Park, of course, in the City of Batavia (located at 151 State St.).

Starting at 11 a.m. and going until 5 p.m., there will be nonstop live music, a variety of food trucks, and vendors and crafters, plus a display by the Military Vehicle Preservation Association.

GO ART's 41st Annual Picnic in the Park

The Original Red Osier Restaurant presents GO ART!'s 41st Annual Picnic in the Park on July 4th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Centennial Park in Batavia.

Event kicks off with a Kiddie Parade. Decorating of bikes begins at 10:30. The parade takes off down Ellicott Avenue hill at 11 o'clock.

Food vendors include Red Osier, Abbott's Ice Cream, Kernel Cravin’ Kettle Corn, Lonsberry Concessions, and Over the Border!

Musical performances by Batavia Concert Band, Byrne Brothers Irish Band, and Grizzwoode.

'Windows 10' hands-on class at Richmond library, free, please register

30th annual Bergen Park Festival in Hickory Park

The 30th Annual Bergen Park Festival is Saturday, June 8th!

Our annual fun day in the park kicks off at noon with a parade.

Many events are planned throughout the day, including "Bergen Idol," live music in the evening, a classic car show, a DJ, fun and games for the kids, raffles, giveaways, and much much more.

Chicken Barbecue available at 4 p.m. (Tickets available at the Village and Town offices)

Live music from 4 to 10 p.m.

The day is capped off with a fireworks display at 10 p.m.

She is doing a hands-on demonstration on encaustics.
 
This might be new to some people but it is a lot of fun!  Non-members welcome for a $5 fee.

To highlight the importance of crosswalk safety and the proper use of a crosswalk, not only for pedestrians but motorists as well, there will be a Crosswalk Day on Wednesday, May 29, at the Bank Street crosswalk in front of the Office for the Aging and YMCA.
