Come have lunch with SERENDIPITY SWING! SOUP, SALAD & SWING! Thursday, December 6th • 12:00 p.m. – 1:30pm
Serendipity Swing: “A Little Big Band,” is an Eight-Musician Ensemble with a female and male vocalist from Buffalo, New York, that performs music associated with the Golden Age of Glamorous Ballrooms, Classy Supper Clubs, the Most Elegant of Private Parties, and the Great American Songbook. The music library, with over 300 titles, contains selections which explore and mirror the beauty of the music elements; melody, harmony and rhythm. It is music that is artful, graceful, whimsical, and listenable. The melodies are memorable. The harmonies are soothing and rich in texture. The tempos, rhythms, are danceable and toe-tapping.

St. Joseph Catholic School will be holding a food drive to support the Genesee County Food Bank this Saturday, December 1st, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the school, located at 2 Summit Street in Batavia.
Donations of non-perishable boxed, bagged or canned goods will accepted and those that donate will be able to pull up and drop off their donation. Volunteers will be on hand to help unload donations.
St Joseph’s is participating in a contest sponsored by Channel 2’s (WGRZ) meteorologist Andy Parker. The school is hoping to collect enough donations to win a visit from Andy and the weather machine. The school is currently in 8th place and has collected 235 pounds of food, enough for 196 meals. Since the contest is judged by weight, organizers encourage donations such as bags of rice and large cans of fruit and vegetables.

In recognition of Power Ball reaching a $500 million prize pool, the New York State Lottery has provided Southside Deli with two tickets to this Sunday's Buffalo Bill's game at Ralph Wilson Stadium as a prize for a raffle drawing.
To enter the raffle, you most drop off a losing scratcher at the deli. Write your name and phone number on the back of the ticket. The winner will be selected Friday night in a drawing from all of those losing tickets. (If you don't have a losing ticket, go to Southside, buy some scratchers and leave a loser behind with your name and number on it for the drawing.)
Southside Deli is located at the corner of Ellicott and Liberty streets, Batavia.
The winner of the drawing gets both tickets. There is only one prize.
People have asked if they could pay by credit card, and now they can. Yesterday, I checked off a long-standing item on my to-do list and set up credit card processing for The Batavian.
To pay by credit card, you have two options:
Of course, PayPal is still an option. Click here for a page with the options.
Your membership is critical to helping The Batavian grow and thrive as a news organization. If you love what we do -- and nearly everybody says they do -- we need your help to take it to the next level.
Current incentives for joining:
If you've previously LIKED Valle's on Facebook, you can still enter the contest. You just need to register. Click here to LIKE Valle's on Facebook and/or register for the contest.
You already love The Batavian. We appreciate your daily visits to our site and telling your friends about the stories you read here and supporting our sponsors. Now we're asking for your direct financial support. Reader support will help us grow and become better at what we do.
We've set up four membership tiers -- Subscribe to the club monthly as one person or as a household, or annually at either of those levels.
Currently, the primary benefits of joining are a membership card and bumper sticker. As the club grows, we'll work with local businesses to provide club-exclusive discounts and special events. The more people who join, the better and more frequent the offers.
It's important to note, this isn't a subscription to read the site. Our stories remain free to read. This is a membership club with benefits (and we'll add benefits as it grows).

Today, 19 people signed up, which we find is a pretty great start to getting this new idea going.
Last week's winner was Matt Scott, who was selected in a random drawing from among the 10 people who correctly named Arian Foster as the running back most likely to rack up the most rushing yards (from among the 10 choices in the contest).

Last week's winner was Dave Olsen, who correctly went with Brandon Marshall, Chicago, as the receiver from available choices to get the most reception yards. Dave was picked as the winner in a random drawing of the four people who picked Marshall.

We recently ran contests for two local businesses where people were asked to Like the businesses on Facebook and register for the contest.

Elect Laura Russell-Ricci for City Council at Large this November 6th. Invested in Batavia--Past, Present & Future!
I am asking for your vote to be your representative on the Batavia City Council. I care deeply for this community and feel that I can offer fresh ideas and a younger perspective to help move Batavia into the future. Batavia is the community where I was raised and where my husband Phil and I have chosen to raise our family. I believe in safe streets and safe activities for our youth. I also believe in a stable tax rate for everyone, especially our seniors, who struggle on fixed incomes.
Please consider me as you go to the polls on November 6th. I thank you in advance for your support. Contact: Laura4batavia@gmail.com or visit my Facebook page; https://www.facebook.com/pages/Laura-Russell-Ricci-for-Batavia-City-Council-at-Large/416887225015119?ref=ts&fref=ts
