Brian Paul Baumgarte
Batavia - Brian Paul Baumgarte, 39, of Batavia, died Sunday (June 5, 2016) at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.
Brian was born November 12, 1976 in Poughkeepsie, a son of Dennis and Beverly (Kendall) Baumgarte of Batavia.
Brian enjoyed karaoke, gaming on his computer and spending time with his niece, Isabelle. He was a school bus driver for Student Transport of America in Alexander and will be remembered as a teddy bear.
Surviving along with his parents are two brothers, Scott Baumgarte and Kevin (Jessica) Baumgarte, both of Batavia; one sister, Lisa (Larry Jr.) Wenner of Lovettsville, VA and his niece and nephews, Isabelle Baumgarte, Jacob Baumgarte, Trip Wenner and Chase Wenner.

Miss Lucy Puma
She was born July 27, 1920 in Batavia, the daughter of the late Sebastian and Mary LaBue Puma.
A lifelong member of St. Padre Pio Parish, Lucy enjoyed knitting, gardening and crocheting. She loved to watch television and her favorite show was Everybody Loves Raymond.
She is survived by her brothers, Charles Puma of Arizona and Joseph Puma of California; several nieces and nephews including Joseph (Geri) Puma of Byron, great nieces and nephews, Aimee(Jeff) Maurer of Bergen, Mark Puma of Brockport, Joel Puma of Batavia, and Jaime Ayala of Batavia and a lifelong friend, Marjorie Hedges of Oakfield.
Lucy was predeceased by her nephew Nicholas Puma and her brothers John and Anthony Puma.
Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Padre Pio Parish, St. Cecilia's Worship Site, 56 Maple Avenue, Oakfield. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum. Donna J. Edenholm
Buffalo -- Donna J. Edenholm, 60, of Buffalo, passed away unexpectedly Friday (June 3, 2016) at her home.
Donna was born August 26, 1955, in Springville, a daughter of the late Oliver and Ona (Schoembs) Becker. She was the granddaughter of the late Miles and Irene Schoembs.
Donna grew up in Alden and was a Girl Scout. She received a bachelor’s degree from Buffalo State College with a major in Business.
Donna was a loving mother, grandmother and devoted friend to many. She had a kind and generous nature and was willing to help anyone in need, always putting others' needs before her own. Donna had a huge heart. Donna was known to dress up as a clown for random occasions, Halloween, birthdays and picnics. She enjoyed gardening, especially yellow roses.
Donna is survived by her children, Jenn (Fred) Perry, of Batavia, and Sara Edenholm, of Rochester; her dog Max; her grandchildren, Braden and Lauren Perry; her siblings, Diane (Dave) Thomas, of Maryland, Ollie (Timi) Becker, of California, and her twin brother, Doug (Terri) Becker, of Alden. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Donna was a friend of Bill W. for 28 years. She is also survived by her grand-dogs, Daisy, Patches, Lil Lady, Joei and Dallas.
Friends may call Friday, June 10th from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc., 4 E. Main St., Corfu. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m.
Charles E. Reno
Basom - Charles E. Reno, 32, of Basom, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, (May 31, 2016) at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, in Amherst due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mr. Reno was born December 19, 1983 in Ogdensburg, a son of Ronnie and Martha (Newberry) Reno of Albion.
Chuck was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Albion. He loved movies, Stephen King novels, painting, working in his yard, and tinkering around the house. Most of all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, and son.
He is survived by his wife, Anne-Marie (Weller) Reno. The two were married July 3, 2006 in Ogdensburg.
Surviving along with his wife and parents are his children, Thomas and Rebecca Reno both of home; a brother, Raymond Reno of PA; sisters, Angel (Charles Sr.) Munoz of TX, Elizabeth (Jason) Lord of Darien, Lisa (Francisco) Duarte of Rochester, and Jennifer (Christopher) Hammons of Albion; nieces and nephews, Meagan, Marcus, and Charlie Munoz, Hayleigh and Connor Lord, Logan and Emma Dehn.
There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend Chuck’s Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday (June 11, 2016) at Victory Baptist Church, 3713 Clarendon Road, Albion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Reno Family.

Warren Joseph Hunt, Sr.
Bergen - Warren Joseph Hunt, Sr., 76, of Bergen, a cement truck driver for 35 years at Manitou Construction in Rochester, died Friday, June 3, 2016 at his home, in Bergen.
Mr. Hunt was born October 11, 1939 in Churchville, a son of the late George and Caroline (Pimm) Hunt.
He was a lifetime farmer and member of Teamsters Local 398 in Rochester, the Churchville Loyal Order of Moose and the Farm Bureau. He was an avid hunter, loved country music, playing euchre, deserts and meeting friends for coffee. He participated in church league softball and was known as "Slugger" to some. He was on the Dolomite Bowling Team.
He is survived by his wife, Susan A. (McGee) Hunt, whom he married on October 6, 1962; 4 children, Nancy (Robert Havens) Hunt of Ontario, Warren (Lauren) Hunt, Jr. of Byron, Diane (Tom) Corcoran of Caledonia and Joanne (Tim) Horine of Pavilion; 5 grandchildren, Mathew Horine, Lindsay Horine, Hannah Hunt, Hailey Hunt and Heidi Hunt; 4 sisters, Harriett Esten of Oakfield, Carolyn (John) Langdon of Clifton, Caroline (Dave) Bierbrauer of Mumford and Lucille Smith of NC; a brother Fred (Cathy) Hunt of Churchville; several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late George Hunt, Irv Hunt and Doris (Jack) Rowlinson.

Patrick Joseph Pedro
Patrick Joseph Pedro, age 57, of Cazenovia, NY, passed away on May 28, 2016, after a difficult battle with ALS.
Patrick was born in Pendleton, Ore., on Dec. 7, 1958, and grew up in Oakfield, NY, where he later became the 2008 Inductee in the Oakfield-Alabama High School Alumni Hall of Fame. He received his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University -- magna cum laude and a Law degree from University of Notre Dame and received awards at graduation for legal writing and appellant advocacy. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Patrick was an attorney employed by Bond, Schoeneck and King in Syracuse in 1984, became a partner in 1993 and practiced there his entire career until his retirement at the end of 2014. He practiced primarily in the areas of business law and health care law, and his clients ranged from start up companies to some of the most prominent individuals and businesses in central and northern New York State. At BS&K, he was deputy Dept. chair of the Business Law Dept., chair of the Health Law Practice Group and the Firm's Marketing Partner. Patrick was a graduate of Leadership Greater Syracuse, and a recipient of the 40 under 40 Award in its inaugural year to name just a couple of his recognitions in his professional life.
Patrick enjoyed his family life in the Fayetteville and Manlius area, where he was a member of the FM Education Foundation, worshipped and served at Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville.
He was a proponent and patron of the arts. Whether as a performer, board member or audience member the arts were a very important part of Patrick's personal and community life. He served more than 20 years on the Board of the Syracuse Opera Company, some of that time as its president and served as a trustee and president of the Everson Museum of Art. Patrick loved performing as well, participating in numerous shows with the Central New York Community Theatre, including the Shakespeare Festival, Appleseed Productions and The Talent Co.
Every relationship was approached with love and respect, always making others' days and lives better. He not only cherished life but truly cherished his role in the lives of everyone around him.
He is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Julie; and daughters, Melissa and Maria; son-in-law, Jordan Levin; his mother, Margaret Pedro; brothers, Michael, Jeffrey and Andrew Pedro; and sister, Catherine Garrison; and nine nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Pedro.
Burial was in Fayetteville Cemetery.

Catherine Rose Lapp
LeRoy ~ Catherine Rose Lapp, age 100, was welcomed home to the Lord on Thursday evening (June 2, 2016) at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.
Mrs. Lapp was a lifelong resident of LeRoy and was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish since her birth.
Mrs. Lapp was most proud of her family. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Diane Lapp; daughter-in-law, Priscilla Lapp and her son-in-law, John Wujcik; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and dear friend to those who knew her.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence "Gooey" A. Lapp; her sons, Richard C. Lapp, Joseph C. Lapp and James F. Lapp and her daughter, Carole Lapp Wujcik; her brothers, Francis Zimmermann, Henry Zimmermann and Carl Zimmermann, and her grandson, Jason M. Wujcik.

ADELINE B. "DOLLY" GIOIA
Age 89, of Batavia, died peacefully Friday June 3, 2016 at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home surrounded by her family. She was born February 15, 1927 in Batavia, NY, a daughter of the late Angelo and Adeline (Sangus) Cecere; also preceded in death by her husband, Francis X. "Babe" Gioia; son, John Gioia; grandsons, Jason Gioia and Teddy Corbett; brothers, Anthony, Joseph, Victor, Arthur, Louis, Lester, Richard and William Cecere; sisters, Dolores Figlow, Mary Chaya and Edna Predmore.
Mrs. Gioia was one of 14 in her family and along with her husband raised 7 of their own and worked as a telephone operator prior to having a family. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, served on the bereavement committee now Resurrection Parish, member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Gold Star Mothers, St. Jerome Hospital Guild and volunteered as an escort. Dolly was avid Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees fan and enjoyed travelling to PA and Texas and wintered there with their son.
Surviving are her loving children, Frank (Patti) Gioia of Batavia, Angelo (Tina) Gioia of TX, Christine (Bill Adams) Corbett of PA, Adeline (Thomas) Losito of Syracuse, Teresa (Timothy) Bartz of Corfu and Rose Marie Brown of NC; brother, Donald Cecere of FL; sister-in-law, Mary G. Cecere of Batavia; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
The family will be present from 4 - 8PM on Monday June 6 at the MICHAEL S. Casimer A. Maliszewski
He was born March 17, 1949 in Batavia, NY, a son of the late Edward and Mary Rutkowski Maliszewski.
Casimer was a graduate of Alexander High School where he was valedictorian of his class. He would later graduate from the University of Buffalo Pharmacy School and worked in the area as a pharmacist for Alberty’s Drug Store and Kmart, prior to his retirement. He had a passion for farming and took part in the operations of the family farm, where he was known in the area for his tractor mechanics. He was a very religious man was a member of Resurrection Parish in Batavia.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Mocciaro Maliszewski of Batavia. Step-children, Patricia Meyers of Batavia, Joseph Mordell of Batavia and Janet (William) Plock of Owego, NY. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late E. Ronald Maliszewski.

Age 72, of Batavia, died Sunday May 29, 2016 at United Memorial Medical Center. She was born February 16, 1944 in Java Center, NY a daughter of the late Arthur and Irene (Conrad) Luthart also preceded in death by 3 sisters and 6 brothers.
Mrs. Hough was a member of the Batavia Assembly of God Church, formerly worked at J.J. Newberry and Jackson School. She had a passion for cooking and baking, but most of all being a wife and mother.

Ralph William Houseknecht Sr.
Ralph was born on December 24, 1926. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Seward and Kathryn (Dustin) Houseknecht; four brothers (Paul, Seward, Richard and brother Robert); a son Edward; and grandson Michael earlier this year.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Agnes (Moynihan) Houseknecht; their children: Greg of Batavia, Ralph Jr. (Katy) of Silver Springs, Mary Kay (Bill) Barton of Silver Springs, Tom (Lynn) Houseknecht of Batavia, Tim (Sue) Houseknecht of Interlaken, John Houseknecht of Wyoming, and Katie (Gary) Berger of Stafford; beloved grandchildren: Joshua, Will, Paul, Mark, Craig, Eric, Ted, Sarah, Jake, Sara, Jack, and Bella; great grandchildren, Meghan and Ella, and their Mom, Jen (Thornton) Houseknecht; sisters-in-law, Frances (Moynihan) Driscoll of Batavia, Barbara Houseknecht (Greensboro, N.C.), and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Ralph left high school early to join the service during World War II, where he served in the U.S. Navy after training at the Sampson Naval Training Station on Seneca Lake. Ralph was deployed to the Pacific, where he served with the Seabees, part of the Naval Construction Forces. When the war ended, Ralph returned safely home to Batavia and finished high school, after which he and his sweetheart, Agnes, were wed on April 3, 1948 at St. Mary’s Church in Batavia. They settled on Franklin Street next to Aggie’s parents, started their family, and Ralph began his career at Pepsi-Cola.
The loss of Ralph and Aggie’s third child Edward at the age of three spurred a lifelong dedication to supporting the Genesee County ARC in Batavia. Pepsi-Cola of Batavia was the first business in the area to hire ARC associates, twice earning ARC’s business of the year award. Ralph humbly accepted the award, saying, “We do it out of love.” In his many years managing Pepsi, Ralph was a firm believer that you should never ask an employee to do something that he wouldn’t do himself. His door was always open for any employee or customer to come in, creating a true family atmosphere in the workplace.
Ralph was a loving, dedicated husband and father, who was always at Sunday Mass with Agnes and their family. When one of his grandsons asked their Grandpa what he thought was the biggest problem in the world today, Ralph replied without hesitation, “The breakdown of the family.” Ralph was a great example of what a father should be: loving, caring, forgiving, and funny. Ralph’s friends and golfing buddies will remember him as the guy who always loved a good joke.
Ralph always showed his unwavering love, no matter the circumstance, and was always ready to lend a hand financially to anyone who needed it. Ralph’s children and grandchildren are forever grateful for the man he was, and his spirit will live on in them. Ralph will be missed, not only by his family, but his friends, employees and the community he loved.

Ray C. Kirkgasser
He is survived by his children John (Ashley) Kirkgasser, Christine (Kenneth) Schwab and Leslie (Christopher) Duffy, and his grandchildren Lindsay and Laura Schwab and Christopher and Faelyn Duffy.
A graduate of Palmyra High School, Ray was a gifted athlete playing both varsity baseball and basketball beginning in the eighth grade. Ray’s love of the outdoors was established at a very young age. His grandfather gifted Ray with the skill and methods of fishing, trapping and hunting. After high school, Ray attended Ithaca College where he was an instrumental basketball and baseball player. Ray was inducted in Ithaca’s Athletic Hall of Fame with the distinction of being the only Ithaca College athlete to be drafted by the NBA. Ray was a 1951 draft choice of the Syracuse Nationals Basketball team and also received an offer to play professional baseball with the Philadelphia Phillies. Ray was also proud to have trained and tried out for the Brooklyn Dodgers as well. After receiving his Masters degree in Physical Education in 1952, Ray enlisted in the Army to support the Korean War effort. Trained to intercept Morse code, Ray was deployed to a base in Germany. Soon after deployment, the base commander re-assigned Ray to be captain, coach and star player of the command’s basketball team and after two seasons, became the base’s athletic director. After his discharge, Ray began teaching physical education at Perry Central School where he met his wife Margaret. He spent 23 years coaching baseball and also served as director of athletics during his 30 years there. Ray purchased Mack’s Boat Livery on Silver Lake in 1979 and was proud to have his wife, children and friends help him operate the marina for many years. Ray was very passionate about his many lifelong hobbies. Besides being an avid sportsman, Ray enjoyed gardening, building remote control airplanes, raising ducks and birds, maintaining his ponds and property, and following his favorite sports teams. Some of Ray’s most treasured adventures included traveling with his family and/or numerous buddies to fish or hunt in Germany, Quebec, Montana, Alaska, Florida and Prince Edward Island. As a devoted husband, father and grandfather, Ray was always pleased to share and celebrate the success of his wife, children and grandchildren. Ray had a great sense of humor, was lucky to live a long, beautiful, and healthy life and most certainly provided his family and large circle of dear friends with precious memories to cherish forever.

Susan L. Cayea
Mrs. Susan Lorraine Cayea, daughter of the late Thomas Galliford and Ruth Brown Galliford was born April 27, 1946 in Bergen, New York. She attended the public schools of Byron-Bergen and was a graduate of Byron-Bergen High School.
She married Gaylord Cayea on June 7, 1965. They were blessed with two loving sons, Lance (Amy) and Todd (Debra). Gay and Sue purchased a farmhouse in Batavia, NY, where they raised their boys and made a home for themselves during their 50 years of marriage. Sue worked for many years in the Batavia City Schools as the Director of Food Services and retired in 2003. She was a devoted wife, wonderful mother and fun-loving, playful grandmother to her adoring seven grandchildren: Devan, Mitchell, Justin, Emily, Peyton, Trevor and Breleigh.
Susan was known for her dedication to her husband, loyalty to family and friends, kindness, positivity and perseverance through her long term illness. Despite the many hardships and inconveniences that Sue endured during her battle with her disease, she never complained and was the epitome of strength and humility. She was a role model to all that had the pleasure of knowing her. Sue passed away suddenly, on May 29, 2016 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, NY.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. Sue is survived by her husband, two sons, two daughters-in-law, seven grandchildren, as well as her two sisters, Joan (Bernard) and Nancy. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, father-in-law (William), mother-in-law (Eleanor), brothers, Thomas (Sandy), William (Gwen) and David.
Susan will be laid to rest in a beautiful location in Batavia, New York - the place where she called home and had many fond memories of great times with family and friends.
Services will be held at H.E. Turner Funeral Home, 403 E. Main Street, Batavia, NY 14020. Visitation will be on Friday, June 3rd from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 4th. Interment will follow in Grand View Cemetery, 80 Clinton Street, Batavia, NY.
