Batavia - Mr. Robert L. Swansbrough, 80, of Batavia, died Monday, (June 7,2010) at Crossroads House.

Mr. Swansbrough was born September 6, 1929 in Ithaca, a son of the late Anthony and Elizabeth  (Grover) Swansbrough.

The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers and Crossroads House and also to John and Deb Henning for all of their love and care.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Renae Swansbrough of Batavia and a special friend Dee Burdick of LeRoy.

Beverly F. Lupi, 77 of Elba died June 6, 2010 in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY.

She was born July 1, 1932 in Newark, NY daughter of the late Thomas (Myrtle M. Padget) Densmore.  

Mrs. Lupi was a registered nurse for over 25 years and she retired as a librarian from Brighton Memorial Library. She was a member of Padre Pio Parish (Our Lady of Fatima Church in Elba), the Altar & Rosary Society, a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Elba Fire Department, she was formerly active in the Boy Scouts of America, and a member of the Beginning Experience in Rochester. 

Preceded in death by her first husband William John Williams in 1993. She is survived by her husband  of 11 years Frederic Lupi of Elba, son Michael Eric (Kelly) Williams of Virginia, stepchildren Kenneth Lupi of Fairport, William Lupi of North Carolina, Stephen (Jenn) Lupi of Freeville, NY and Susan (David) Shalit of Illinois. 4 Step grandchildren and 2 nephews also survive.

Bergen - Mrs. Barbara A. Stephens, 64, of Bergen, an electronics assembler at Eastman Kodak Co., in Rochester, died Monday, June 7, 2010at her home in Bergen.

Mrs. Stephens was born February 17, 1946 in Rochester, NY, the daughter of the late Donald and Ester (Van Bell) Jones.

Her husband, Thomas R. Stephens, Sr., died October 17, 2008.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas R. Stephens, Jr. and Donald M. Stephens of Bergen; 3 brothers, Donald (Deborah) Jones of Albion, Harry (Cindy) Jones and David (Julie) Jones both of Holley; 2 sisters, Donna (Mark) Kramer of Bergen and Bonnie (Paul) Jary of Albion; 2 granddaughters, Shelby Stephens and Kimberly Stephens of Cuba; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Age 89, of Batavia, died Monday morning June 7, 2010 at the Batavia Nursing Home. Born January 15, 1921 in Batavia to the late Nicholas & Rose (Syracuse) Martino he was also preceded in death by a sister Grace Biegas. A member of Ascension Parish he worked for many years at Delco.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 69 years Louise E. (Cervone) Martino of Batavia; loving daughter and son-in-law Gail (Enzo) Giuliani of Batavia; son and daughter-in-law Anthony J. "AJ" (Dinorah) Martino of Florida; his sisters Roslyn Sharp and Claudette (Richard) Biegasiewicz both of Batavia. 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation is private and the family invites all to join them for a Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 AM Friday June 11, 2010 at Ascension Parish (St. Anthony's Site). Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum and memorials in his honor may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Stafford - Mr. Arnold A. Cone, 83, of Stafford, owner and proprietor of Arnold A. Cone - General Contractor, died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at the New York State Veteran's Home in Batavia.

Mr. Cone was born February 22, 1927 in Bethany, a son of the late George and Edith VanZant Cone.

He was a member of East Bethany Presbyterian Church, and over the course of 30 years, he served on the Stafford zoning board of appeals, as Stafford town councilman and as Town Supervisor for Stafford for 30 years. He also served on the Republican Committee as the representative from Stafford. He was also a former member of the Five Point Rod and Gun club.

He was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing, hunting and camping and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He served with the 16th Infantry Regiment with the United States Army during World War II. He was awarded the Army of Occupational Medal and Word War II Victory Medal.

His wife, Elnora Legg Cone, died on February 22, 1993.

Survivors include two sons, Richard A. (Deborah) Cone and Steven A. (Marie) Cone, both of Stafford, two granddaughters, Lori (Shane) Totten and Traci Cone, both of Stafford; three great-granddaughters, Morgan, Allison and Ashley; a sister-in-law, Joan Cone of Stafford and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

Eugene M. Nanni

Batavia - Mr. Eugene M. Nanni, 87, of Batavia, died Friday, (June 4, 2010)at Vasser Hospital in Poughkeepsie.

Mr. Nanni was born December 30, 1922 in Erie, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Enrico and Filomena (DiNofrio) Nanni.

He was a service manager in the publications department for G.T.E. Sylvania in Batavia.  Mr. Nanni also worked as a professional photographer. He loved to travel and was devoted to his family.

Survivors include a daughter, Valerie (Peter) Matina of Hopewell Junction; four grandchildren, Thomas (Paulette) Kubiak, Christopher (Kelly) Kubiak, Jennifer Kubiak and Rebecca (Chance) Vorster; two brothers, Ugo (Betty) Nanni of Florida and Enrico (Tammy) Nanni Jr. of Oakfield; a sister, Dora (Robert) Genesky of Oakfield; two sisters-in-law, Lois (late Arthur) Nanni of Alabama and Marion (late Edmund) Nanni of Oakfield;  many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mr. Nanni is the husband of the late Gina (Perozzi) Nanni and a brother-in-law of the late Midge Nanni.  

Calling hours are Monday (June 14th) from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday (June 15th) also at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Oakfield. Batavia - Mrs. Doris G O'Leary, 86, of Batavia, who was a foster parent for more than 80 children over a 30 year period died Thursday, June 3, 2010at the Genesee County Nursing Home.

Mrs. O'Leary was born February 14, 1924 in Alexander, a daughter of the late Fred and Jessie (Austin) Foster.

She was a member of New Hope Ministries and enjoyed crochet and crafts. She was a truck driver, along with her late husband Edwin, for National Trailer Convoy.

Her husband, Edwin C. O'Leary, died on March 2, 2010.

Survivors include four sons, Gary E. (Carla) Meyers of Bear Creek, North Carolina, Dennis W. (Luana Williams) Meyers of Batavia, David (Vicki) Andrews of Rochester and James (Vanessa) Andrews of LeRoy; a daughter, Jessie (Glenn) Frier of Batavia; a brother, Kenneth (Carmen) Foster of California; two sisters, Loretta Maberry of Kansas and Wyona (Dick) Burrs of Warsaw; 26 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

She was the mother of the late Paul Andrews and Lorraine Chartrand and sister of the late Gerald and Fred Foster.

Ruth L. Allyn, 85 of Batavia died June 3, 2010 in the Genesee County Nursing Home.

She was born September 8, 1924 in Bergen, NY daughter of the late Nicholas (Florence Hunt) Sherman. 

Mrs. Allyn was a former City of Batavia School Crossing Guard for over 15 years. She was a member of Resurrection Parish (St. Mary’s) and lifetime member of the ladies auxiliary of the Sackett Merrill White American Legion Post in Bergen. She and her husband raised many foster children and took in many exchange students, she was an avid gardener and music lover who enjoyed playing the piano.

Preceded in death by an infant daughter Tina L. Allyn. Survivors include her husband of 62 years Lee F. Allyn former City Council President and retired City Firefighter of Batavia, daughters RuLee Allyn of Batavia and Shirley (Richard) Piwowarski of Lancaster, NY and a special cousin Diane (Donald) Donnelly of Bergen.

Julia B. Poodry, 95, of Basom, died Tuesday (June 1, 2010) at United Memorial Medical Center.

She was born on the Onandaga Nation in Nedrow, NY on March 8, 1915, a daughter of the late Livingston and Lillian Green Crouse.  Her husband, Royden Poodry died in 1997.

Mrs. Poodry was a member of the Turtle Clan and had formerly worked for Harrison Radiator Co. in Lockport.  She was the proprietor of a craft and gift shop that she operated out of her own home for many years.  She was so proud of her age and was the oldest living resident on both, the Onandaga Nation and Tonawanda Seneca Nation.  In her high school days she was an outstanding baseball, volleyball, basketball and softball player.  She was a fine cook and loved gardening.

Surviving are three children: Wilma (Angelo) Ianni of Basom, Janice (Guy) Falcone of Boston, Mass and Suzanne Poodry of Batavia.  Three grandchildren: Deborah (Matt) Bace, Lucia Jones (James Page) and Anthony (Stormy) Falcone.  Five great grandchildren: Katherine, Sarah and Alex Bace, Melody and Aria Falcone.  

She was the mother of the late Neal Poodry who died in 2005.

Friends may call Friday from 3 - 7 PM at the J. Leonard McAndrew Funeral Home, 32 John St., Akron.  Services will be Saturday at 11 AM at the Tonawanda Presbyterian Church on Meadville Rd. in Basom.   Burial will be in the Tonawanda Church Cemetery.

Dr. Alan L. Siegel, a prominent local Ophthalmologist died Wednesday evening at his home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 57 while under the care of Hospice.

He was born January 3, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY son of the late Samuel Siegel & Phyllis (Dobry) Siegel of Florida. Dr. Siegel received his Bachelor's from Colgate University and his Medical Degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and served his Ophthalmology residency at Boston University Hospital.

Upon coming to Batavia Dr. Siegel along with his partners established University Eye Specialists in Batavia which was later expanded to many communities throughout Genesee, Livingston & Wyoming counties.

Active in the community he was a member of the Batavia Lions Club, Board Member of Genesee Cancer Assistance, Inc., Batavia City School Board where he served two years as its President, Past President of the Medical Staff at UMMC, Board of Trustees for UMMC and its Chief of Ophthalmology. An avid Sabres and Yankees fan he was a wonderful son, husband and father. The last few years were dedicated to caring for his wife Rosemary who suffers from ALS and spending time with his children whom he was most proud of.

Surviving along with his mother is his beloved wife Rosemary (Sauter) Siegel of Bethany; loving son William Siegel and loving daughter & son-in-law Jacqueline (Stuart) McLean all at home. Mother-in-law Agnes McWilliams of the Bronx; brother Howard (Marcia) Siegel of Pittsburgh along with a niece Bryna (David) Finer of Vermont and nephew Scott (Megan) Siegel of Florida, 

The Siegel family will be present from 2-5 PM & 6-9 PM Saturday May 29, 2010 at the Michael S. Tomaszewski Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC where a Celebration of Life for Dr. Siegel will take place at 1:00 PM Sunday May 30, 2010. Mr. Kenneth Mosholder, 45, passed away Monday, (May 17, 2010) after suffering a heart attack.

Mr. Mosholder was born December 2, 1964 in Niagara Falls, NY, a son of William and Margaret (Smith) Mosholder.

Survivors include two daughters, Tiffany Laird of Austin, Texas and Kendra Mosholder of Cheyenne, Wyoming; a son, Daniel Mosholder of San Marcos, Texas; a brother, William Mosholder of Oakfield; his ex-wife, Sandra Mosholder of San Marcos, Texas; five grandchildren; three nephews; a niece and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sally M. Hunt, 83, of Batavia died Tuesday May 25, 2010 at Crossroads House in Batavia.

Born February 12, 1927 in Watertown, New York daughter of the late Ernest (Kathryn) Marchand. Mrs. Hunt worked for many years as Food Administrator for the Watertown Public Schools.

Preceded in death by her husband Francis G. Hunt. Survived by her son Danny F. Hunt of Batavia; grandchildren Kyle F. Hunt; Jillian R. Hunt; Harmony Bordinaro; grandchildren’s mother Pamela Bordinaro all of Corfu; sister Lois Sawyer of Watertown; niece and nephew Ron & Carol Sawyer.

Mr. Vincent D. Bianchi, 65, of Stafford died Monday May 24, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family. 

Born November 12, 1944 in Rochester, NY son of the late Vincent (Elizabeth Cocuzzi) Bianchi.  

A veteran of the US Army, Vincent was a commercial Painting Contractor. He was the owner of “Vincent D. Bianchi Painting and Wallcovering”, a business that he started 30 years ago. Vince had a great love of dogs and has owned many over the years. This love got him involved in showing and breeding and together with his wife Bonnie; they started “Archangels Bullmastiffs & Boxers”. The Archangel traits have made a contribution that is still evident in the show ring today. Vincent was a member of the “American Bullmastiff Association”, “The American Boxer Club”, “Upstate New York Boxer Club” and “Tonawanda Valley Kennel Club”.

Also an avid fisherman all of his life, Vince started “Vince Bianchi’s Spinner shop” 8 years ago as a new business to keep him busy in his retirement. He handmade all of his Musky Lures in a shop in his home, assisted by his son “Hooch” and sometimes his granddaughter Bianca. The business will be continued by the family. Vincent was involved in several fishing associations and was very involved in the conservation of Muskies. 

He was the loving husband of 43 years to Bonnie (Pappalardo) Bianchi; devoted father of Vincent “Hootch” Bianchi Jr. of Stafford; Rhonda (Richard) Nolt of East Bethany. His pride and joy of life were his grandchildren Bianca & Nick Nolt. He is also survived by his sister Janice (Joel) Durham of Fairport along with several nieces and nephews. No prior calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Oakfield – Mr. Everett S. “Red” Hopkins, 83, of Oakfield, died Friday, (May 21, 2010)at his home.

Mr. Hopkins was born June 25, 1926 in Mill City, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Gordon and Edith (Honey) Hopkins.

Along with his late wife, Mary "Pat" Hopkins, they were owners of the former Coffee Cup Restaurant in Oakfield. Mr. Hopkins was an inspector with General Motors in Tonawanda and was known for his sense of humor. He enjoyed sports, especially bowling and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A veteran, he served with the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946.

Survivors include two daughters, Ruth (Ronald) Zentz of Basom and Patricia (Jerry Power) Hopkins of Franklinville; a son, Gordie (Linnie) Hopkins of Batavia; two brothers, Robert (Bonnie) Hopkins and  William (Elaine) Hopkins, both of Pennsylvania;  nine grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his wife, Mary "Pat" Hopkins; a brother, Emerson Hopkins and a sister, Shirley Logan.
