Raymond W. Scroger

Raymond W. Scroger, 63 of Alexander passed away on December 12, 2013 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born January 4, 1950 in Batavia to the late Ralph (Leora Fuller) Scroger. Ray was retired from Keeler Construction Company of Albion where he held several positions, most recently Low Boy Equipment Operator and formerly Foreman. Ray’s greatest love was spending time with his family and friends; along with hunting, competition archery, enjoying nature and the outdoors. Ray twice won the New York State Archery Championship as well as many regional and local archery competitions. He is preceded in death by sisters Sharon Oliver and Mary Louise Scroger; brother Ralph Scroger Jr.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife Paula (West) Scroger of Alexander; children Kimberly Statt of Rochester; Kristi (Sean Emerton) Scroger of Blue Hill, ME; Jeffrey (Janice) Cifelli of LeRoy; Scott (Melanie) Cifelli of Pavilion; Kevin (Amy) Cifelli of Medina; 12 grandchildren; sisters Linda (Douglas) Bentley; Lisa (Robert) Church; brothers Richard (Lita), Gary (Vicki), Dale (Judy), Earl, John (Diane) Scroger; brother-in-law David Oliver; along with several nieces, nephews, and many special friends.

Friends may call on Tuesday December 17, 2013 from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church 8221 Lewiston Rd. Batavia, NY 14020. Funeral Services will be held immediately following calling hours, 11:30 AM at the church. He will be laid to rest in the Alabama Cemetery, Alabama, NY.

Randy L. Barrett Sr.

Randy was born in Dansville, New York on May 6, 1955 a son of the late Frank Barrett and Dorothy Holbrook Potter. Randy was a self employed handyman and painter. He served with the US Army. He enjoyed working on automobiles, fishing, and enjoyed the outdoors. He is preceded in death by brothers Frank and William Barrett; sister Patricia Howell.

He is survived by his wife whom he married on July 27, 1996 Sharon Barrett of Warsaw, 3 daughters: Dorothy Seiwell of Nunda, Diana Jordan of Nunda, Helen (Chris Curry) Barrett of Sevierville, Tn., 3 sons: Randy (Nicole) Barrett Jr. of Indiana, Frank (Karen) Barrett of Perry, Brent (Ann Marie) Barrett of Dansville, 2 stepchildren: Tammy (Rod) Huff of Warsaw, Shannon McDonald of Warsaw,1 sister: Sandra VanHorn of Bolivar, 1 brother: Wayne (Tammy) Barrett of Hicksville, Oh., 21 grandchildren, 4 stepgrandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Doris Marie (Dominesey) Henneberger

Doris Marie (Dominesey) Henneberger of Bartz Road, Sheldon, New York, died Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at Mercy Hospital, Buffalo, NY.  She was 91.

Born March 15, 1922 in Sheldon, NY, she was married on June 7, 1947 to the late Richard W. Henneberger who died in 2001,.  She leaves three sons; Richard C. (Jackie) of Murray, KY, David W. (Sandy Robinson) of Cuba, NY and Daniel G. (Virginia) of Sheldon, NY, five grandchildren, Cheryl (Jason) Forester, Keith R. Henneberger, Christopher (Kathy) Henneberger, Julie (Shannon) Leach, Danielle Henneberger and two great grandchildren, Mya G. and Aiden R. Henneberger.

Doris was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 627 of Strykersville, NY. For years she was an active member holding numerous positions in the organization, including Auxiliary President of the Post and Wyoming county.  She was also an active member of the Senior Citizens Organizations of North Java, Strykersville and Wales Center and for several years was trip coordinator for the organizations.

For years Doris was a member of St. Cecilia's RC Church in Sheldon, NY and more recently had been a member of St. Nicholas RC Church in North Java, NY.

Doris was also predeceased by a daughter-in-law Jan (Schwab) Henneberger, two brothers and sister-in-laws; Charles F. (Carol Straus) Dominesey of Long Beach, CA, and Ellsworth J. (Janet McCrey) Dominescy of Mobile, AL.

John L. Pariso

John L. Pariso, passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends on December 7, 2013.  Beloved husband of Amy (Berry) Pariso, father of Jonni (Jamie) Sandolfini, Lukas, Emmie, Liam and Blake who all live in Darien.  One grandchild Cali. Also survived by his father Carmen (late Beverly) Pariso of Buffalo, Anthony (Elaine) Pariso of Grand Island and Filomena Pariso of Buffalo.  John also had several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and many close friends.

For those who would like to join the family in remembering John Parisos’ caring and colorful life we welcome you to join us Wednesday December 11 at the Lodge at Hidden Valley in Varysburg.  The family will receive visitors between 5 and 8 pm.  We welcome you to stop in and share your fondest memories of John or your stories of him to share.

Michael Lee Vainio

Byron ~ Michael Lee Vainio, age 32, of Caswell Road, passed away on Thursday (Dec. 5, 2013) at United Memorial Medical Center.

     Michael was born August 14, 1981 in Batavia, a son of Leo and Betsey Bell Vainio.

     He was a 1999 graduate of Byron-Bergen Central School.  He enjoyed carpentry, had a great love for the outdoors and for his pets, Simone and Big Boi.   He was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and Sabres.

     In addition to his parents, Leo and Betsey of Byron, he is survived by his wife, Susana Revelo Vainio, his siblings, Patrick Vainio of Cumming, GA, Dr. Shawn (Annjannette) Vainio of Kodiak, AK and Leigh (Erik) Johanson of Black Mountain, NC, a niece, Anja Vainio of AK and an uncle, Roy Bell of McLean, NY.

Robin M. Denniston-Keller

Byron - Robin M. Denniston-Keller, 44, of Byron, passed away Thursday, (December 5, 2013) at Monroe County Community Hospital, in Rochester, following a lengthy illness.  She was the co-owner of Den-Kel Jerseys, LLC in Byron.


Mrs. Denniston-Keller was born December 6, 1968 in Sharon, CT, the daughter of Roy T. Denniston of North Chatham, NY and the late Deborah (Berry) Denniston.


She was a 1987 graduate of Ichabod Crane Central School in Kinderhook and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Cornell University in 1991.


Robin had a passion for working with dairy cattle, beginning with her high school job, working at Dutch Hollow Farm. She was active in 4-H, served as an officer in both the ENY and State Junior Holstein Club, and was a Distinguished Junior Member of the New York Holstein Association. Working with her husband, Kip, she developed an outstanding herd of registered Jersey Cattle, selling several bulls to A.I. studs in the United States and Canada, and receiving the Outstanding Young Breeder Award from the American Jersey Cattle Association.  


Robin had many friends in the agricultural community. She was a 4-H Junior Holstein Club leader, and served as a state director for the Nioga Holstein Club, president of the Genesee County Farm Bureau, president of the NYS Jersey Cattle Club. Robin was elected a national director, representing New York for the American Jersey Cattle Association.  


Through her life, she enjoyed showing cattle with her dad at the county, state, and national levels.  
Robin was the wife of Kip Keller of Byron.  The two were married August 13, 1994.


Surviving along with her husband and father are her father-in-law, Robert B. Keller of Chatham; brothers-in-law, Paul (Joann) Keller and Kent (Roberta) Keller both of Kinderhook; sisters-in-law, Kim Ehlers of Stuyvesant, and Kristine (Timothy) Ooms of Chatham.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.


Robin is preceded in death by her mother and her mother-in-law, Judith (Atkinson) Keller.


Friends may call on Tuesday (December 10, 2013) from 4 to 7 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, where Robin’s memorial service will be held immediately following calling at 7.

A second service will be held Friday (December 20, 2013) at 11 a.m., at the North Chatham United Methodist Church, 4274 New York 203, North Chatham. Marilyn J. Colantonio

Marilyn J. Colantonio, 80 of Batavia, passed away on Friday December 6, 2013 at the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia. She was born June 22, 1933 in Albion to the late Leo (Lena Balester) Ludwick. Mrs. Colantonio was a graduate of Albion High School and St. Jerome’s School of Nursing in Batavia. She was a Registered Nurse having worked for Dr. Baker, Dr. Lee, Dr. Bissell and retired from Dr. Ahmed’s office in Batavia.  Mrs. Colantonio was a member of Ascension Parish and the Altar and Rosary Society of the Church.  She enjoyed collecting antiques having belonged to the Tonawanda Valley Collectors Club, she loved to go to the casino, camping and bowling. She also loved spending time with her family especially her great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter Carol Ann Colantonio in 1962.

Mrs. Colantonio is survived by her husband of 59 years Raymond B. Colantonio of Batavia, whom she married on June 19, 1954, son Raymond (Karen) Colantonio of Arizona, daughter June (Randy) Boyce of Oakfield NY. 2 Grandchildren Kimberly (Herk) Handsaker and Anthony (Samantha) Colantonio both of Arizona, 2 step grandchildren Brittany & Shannon, 2 great-grandchildren Kayley & Hunter Handsaker of Arizona, survive along with many nieces and nephews.

Carole A. Winterhalter

Carole A. Winterhalter, 60 of Akron, passed away on December 6, 2013 at The Center for Hospice &Palliative Care in Cheektowaga. She was born February 7, 1953 in Wellsville to the late Erest (Mildred “Mitzi” Osgood) Winterhalter. Carole was retired from Buffalo General Hospital where she was a carpenter and member of Union #289. She loved gardening, being outdoors, spending time by the pool and baking especially cookies.

Carole is survived by her daughter Ashley (Shawn Hazlett) Koch of Corfu, brothers Richard Winterhalter of Belmont, Michael Winterhalter of Rochester, sisters Judy (James) Bliven of Belmont, Anne Winterhalter of NJ, Patricia Sweeney of West Almond, Lynda Jones of NJ, Teresa Winterhalter of Savannah, GA; along with many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews also survive.

Leoma A. Hewson

Leoma A. (Farnsworth) Hewson, 77 of Akron, passed away on Monday (December 2, 2013) at her residence to be with her Lord and Savior after a long battle with cancer.

She was born in Sweden, NY on September 5, 1936, a daughter of the late Earl and Julia Markum Farnsworth.

Leoma was a loving family matriarch who enjoyed cooking, sewing and crocheting. She was more than a mom or grandma but a roll model and will be dearly missed.

She was predeceased by her sister, Bernice Leaton and brother Clifford Farnsworth.

Survivors include her four children, Dale (Lori) Hewson of Indiana, Debra Hewson of NY, Dennis Hewson of Florida and Cheryl (John) Talone of NY.  She was joyful to have had 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, as well as nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family.

Beatrice R. Grazioplene

Beatrice  R. Grazioplene, 86 of Oakfield, passed away Wednesday December 4, 2013 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, NY. She was born March 19, 1926 in Batavia to the late Louis (Mildred A. Jacobs) Salvador. She was retired from Genesee County Department of Social Services where she was a secretary, and was a member of St. Padre Pio Parish in Oakfield. She is preceded in death by her husband Alexander Grazioplene who passed away in 1968; son Donald Grazioplene who passed away in 1967 and her brother Valentine Salvador.

She is survived by her son Kenneth (Joyce) Grazioplene of Oakfield, daughter Carol (Joseph) Wender of Greece, NY, sister Rita J. Salvador of Batavia; sister-in-law Antonette Salvador of Batavia; 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. Funeral Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. She will be laid to rest in St.Cecilia’s Cemetery in Oakfield.

Richard F. "Rick" Mills Sr.

LeRoy ~ Richard F. Mills Sr., age 53, of Maple Avenue, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday (Dec. 1, 2013).

     He was born February 15, 1960 in Batavia, a son of Robert and Donna Anchor Mills.

     Rick will be remembered as a Nascar fan, a loyal Buffalo Bills fan and a man who loved to fish.

     In addition to his parents, Robert and Donna Mills of LeRoy, he is survived by his loving companion, Betty Pelton, his sons, Brandon (Renee) Mills of LeRoy and Richard F. (Liz Carney) Mills Jr. of LeRoy, his sister, Susan (Timothy) McQuillen of Byron, a niece and nephew, Justin and Ashley McQuillen, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Diane Bolster

Batavia - Diane Bolster, 56, of Batavia, died Sunday (December 1, 2013) at Crossroads House in Batavia.

Diane was born October 15, 1957 in Dansville, the daughter of Myron “Mike” (Norma) Day of Oakfield and the late Betty (Baize) Day.

She was a registered nurse and care coordinator for Homecare & Hospice in Batavia.  Diane enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, along with camping, horseback riding, antiques, flowers and fixing up her house.

Surviving along with her father and step-mother include her children, Mark Fanara of Batavia, Amie (Jaye) Horvath of Grand Island and Corey (fiancée Emily Barber) Fanara of Batavia; grandchildren, Rivers Fanara, Jaxson Fanara, Nicholas Fanara, Ava Barber and Brooke Horvath; two brothers, Jeff (Sharon) Day of Batavia and Tom Day of Alabama and five nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia.  Services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Batavia.

Frederick R. Caito

Frederick was born in Perry, New York on April 26, 1931 a son of the late Gerald and Jenny Pattenella Caito. Fred was a graduate of Perry High School. He served with the US Air Force. Fred worked for the former Roberts Drug Store in Perry, later opened and operated the Silver Isle Restaurant in Perry for several years and retired from Family Furniture in Perry after 30 years of employment. Fred was a member of the Perry Vets Club, Warsaw Barbershop Quartet and the Perry Kiwanis. He was an avid bowler. He is preceded in death by a brother Anthony Caito.

He is survived by his wife whom he married on December 27, 1952:Colleen Calkins Caito, 2 sons: David (Christina) of Leicester, Steven (Kelley) of Perry, 1 daughter: Susan (Joseph) Schrader of Dansville, 1 brother: Gerald Caito of Georgia, 5 grandchildren: Nathan (Sheena) Caito, Emily (Al) Palmer, Felicia (Aaron) Richberger, Heather Schrader and Joseph Caito, along with many nieces and nephews.

Francis B. Blanc

Francis was born in Perry, Nerw York on May 12,1923 a son of the late Thomas and Charity Holt Blanc. Franny graduated from Perry High School. He worked for NYSEG retiring in 1978. He served with the US Marine Corp during WWII. He was a member of the Perry VFW. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He is preceded in death by brothers Gene and Thomas Blanc; sisters Marie Pethrick, Virginia Mattoon and Janet MacDonald.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Mavis (Ford) Blanc, their sons Michael (Patricia Coy) Blanc of Spencerport and John Blanc of Perry, a grandson: Bryan Blanc of New Hampshire, sisters: Barbara Figler of Avon, Anna Antonio of Batavia, Monica (Al) Fratelli of Deleware and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry Zubert

Larry was born in Rochester, New York on October 11, 1946 a son of the late Andrew and Theresa Vulcano Zubert. Larry was a graduate of John Marshall High School in Rochester. He was a veteran of the US Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He had extensive experience in the food industry and for a period of time owned The Golden Key Restaurant in Chili, prior to his retirement he was the owner/operator of the Convenient Food Mart on Perry. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed and participated in a number of sports including softball, bowling and golf.

He is survived by children: Corrine Zubert Tobias and Larry A. Zubert both of Rochester, brothers: Charles Zubert of Farmington and Jerry Zubert of Clarks Summit, PA., 2 grandchildren Alannah Tosias and Kayla Monroe, 1 great grandchild, along with many nieces and nephews.
