Age 83, of Pavilion, died peacefully Friday July 8, 2016 at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home. He was born February 14, 1933 in Buffalo, NY a son of the late Edward and Isabella (Hammerschmidt) Schoff.

Mr. Schoff was a longtime employee of LeRoy Machine, in his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid fan of Sherlock Holmes novels.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 58 years, Cecelia (Howard) Schoff of Pavilion; children, Jennifer Schoff of Pavilion, Bridget Schoff of Avon, Isabella Poss of Chili, Marty (Diane) Schoff of E. Pembroke and Christopher (Cecilia) Schoff of Anchorage, AK; grandchildren, Kelly, Nichole, Lynda, Garret, Kyle, Rhebeka, Matthew, Chris, Emily, Katie, Eric & Zachary along with 10 great-grandchildren.

There is no prior visitation and the Schoff family invites all to attend Martin's Mass of Christian Burial 2:00PM Saturday July 23 at Immaculate Mary Parish 5865 Ellicott Street Road East Bethany. Memorials in his memory are suggested to the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. Miller was a combat Veteran that served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a longtime member of the VWF, Legion, Moose Club, and Holy Family Parish. Mr. Miller was an avid fisherman, gardener, woodworker, and model airplane builder. He loved walking, traveling to Florida and being with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Esther J. (Glaus) Miller of North Java; children Doug (Nancy) Miller of Cowlesville; Donna (Bob) Duncan of OR; Marianne (Lee) Clark of Attica; Sandra (Dan) Zandrowicz of North Java; sister Grace (Pete) Damico of Syracuse; 8 grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ziccardi was a United States Army Veteran, serving during WWII with the Mechanized Calvary Unit in the South Pacific for over 3 years where he earned numerus Medals. After the war, he returned home and had a 30 plus year career with the New York State Department of Corrections prior to his retirement. He was a member at the VFW #1602, St. Mary’s RC Church and was a Life Member at St. Nicholas Club and a former member of the Moose Club in Batavia. Peter was avid outdoorsman, loved hunting, fishing, golfing and making wine.

He is survived by a daughter Francine (Vincent) Chilano of Batavia; a son Peter (Beth) Ziccardi of Batavia; sisters Angeline DioGuardi of OH, Mary Ann DiFalco of Batavia; grandchildren Ashley (Fiancé Joshua Platt) Ziccardi of Batavia, Michael (Fiancé Tiffany Monde) Ziccardi of Rochester, Christopher Chilano of Batavia, Nicholas (Anna) Chilano of CA; 1 great grandson Luca Chilano, along with several nieces and nephews.

Batavia - Harry T. “Hatter” Morith, 96, of Batavia, a Rural Letter Carrier at US Postal Service in Batavia, prior to his retirement, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Harris Hill Nursing Facility, in Williamsville.

Mr. Morith was born March 4, 1920 in Batavia, a son of the late Joseph and Winifred (Taylor) Morith.

He served with the US Coast Guard from 1942 to 1945, attended the First Baptist Church of Batavia and loved to dance.  He was with the US Postal Service for 31 years and previously with the Daily News for 20 years as an advertising salesman.

His wife, Betty Jane (Kelley) Morith, died November 30, 2011.

Survivors include 4 step-daughters, Judy (Samuel) Meyer and Marilyn (Jack) Mosier, both of Akron and Linda Fotheringham and Roberta Tabone, both of Las Vegas; a brother, Robert (Fay) Morith of Batavia; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

He was the brother of the late George E. Morith, Franklin J. Morigh, Charles P. Morith, William J. Morith, Gordon L. Morth, Gilbert Morith, Violet Armstrong and Gertrude Precore.  

Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co, Inc., 403 E. Batavia - Wayne M. Markek, 64, passed away peacefully Monday evening (July 11, 2016) at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Wayne was born March 20, 1952, in Batavia, a son of the late Steven and Ethel Markek. 

 

He enjoyed playing his guitar, going to Bingo, setting up trains with his son Tim, and enjoyed classic cars.

 

He is survived by his wife Cheryl (Swiatowy) Markek for 43 years; 3 children, Robert (Patricia) Markek of East Bethany, Erika (Jason) Ball of Ft. Mitchell, Ala., and Timothy Markek of Batavia; 3 grandchildren, Kali, Zander, and Ryder Markek; 4 sisters, Barbara (Late Alfred) Wagner, Shirley (Keith) Kraatz, Nancy (Leroy) Ball, and Susan Drybala; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call Thursday, July 14 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the C. B.  Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc., 4 E. Main St., Corfu. A funeral service will be held Friday at the Mortuary at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to the family.

Byron – Mrs. Libby L. Geitner, 69, of Byron, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on July 13, 2016 under the care of HomeCare & Hospice.

Mrs. Geitner was born January 18, 1947 in Lackawanna, a daughter of the late Walter and Rita Benjamin Brooks.

She is survived by her husband, Richard A. Geitner, whom she married February 4, 1967; her children, Scott (Hollie) Geitner of Brockport and Laurie (John) Dehm of Bergen; three grandchildren, Kayla Hofer of Bergen, Nicole and Zackary Geitner, both of Brockport; two brothers, Barry (Gail) Brooks of Florida and Grant (Sharon) Brooks of Lockport; her sister, Bonnie (Steve) Redden of Florida and several nieces, nephews and beloved friends.  

She is preceded in death by a brother, Walter "Skip" Brooks

Kenneth retired from the Retsof Salt Mine in 1996 after 30 years of employment as a master mechanic. He was a former and founding member of the Perry Emergency Ambulance, an officer for the International Brothers of Mine Workers Association and was involved in the search and rescue at Retsof Salt Mine. He enjoyed camping, fishing, going to beaches, swimming, golfing and roller skating when he was younger. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by 2 daughters; Sandra (Bruce) Kelly, Linda (Peter) LeBlond both of Perry; a son Kevin (Pamela) Lakin of Winchester, VA.; a sister June (Bob) Stuerbezecher of Cortland, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Stafford - Karen F. Clement, age 66, an administrative assistant for the town of Stafford, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Highland Health System.

Mrs. Clement was born January 31, 1950 in Batavia the daughter of the late Warren and Mary (Grace) Fargo who survives of Corfu.

Surviving along with her mother is her husband, Robert Clement, whom she married January 6, 1990.  Also surviving are  three daughters; Melissa (Gary Fore) Bowen of Batavia, Kathryn Bowen of Stafford and Michelle (Christopher)  Iwasko of  N. Chili; one brother, James (Amy) Fargo of Batavia, grandchildren; Kayleigh Perez, Whitney Athoe and Aidan and Katrina Iwasko and a great-grandchild, Zoey Keith.

Batavia - Russell E. Phillips, age 52, of Batavia, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 8, 2016.

Russ was born January 12, 1964 in Rochester, a son of the late Gary and Jacquelyn Magee Phillips.

Russ was an amazing cook who loved to garden and feed the birds. He will be remembered by many as a good neighbor who was always willing to lend a hand; whether it was shoveling their driveway, cooking a meal for them or any other task that was asked of him.

Above all, he loved being with his family and spending time with his children.

He is survived by his children, Jaymi Sullivan of Gray, Maine and Eli Mitscher of Attica; his siblings, Greg (Christine) Phillips of Asheville, North Carolina, Tracy Phillips of Warsaw, Betty (Howard) Bogle of Perry and Kelly (David) Warren of Batavia; and many nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.

Edward M. Gutowski 1934 – 2016 of Cheektowaga, NY, following a short illness and a long life in  service of others.

Loving son of the late Edward H. and Agnes (Pryzbyl) and devoted husband of the late Dorothy (Kowal) Gutowski.

Loving father of his sons, Edward A. (Mary) and Alan J. (Jennifer),daughters, Paula A. (Steve) Noyes and Laura L. (Michael) Russo. Also, seven adoring grandchildren, as well as nephews and nieces. Brother of Donald (Barbara), Patricia (David) Brant and Gerald (Donna).

Retired Service Technician from Sears, Roebuck & Co. after 42 years of dedicated service. Long-time parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi R. C. Church and dedicated past volunteer for Habitat for Humanity (Orleans). Lover of all things God-given: family, nature, music, art and baseball.

Batavia - Louanne J. Tidd, 46, of Batavia, passed away Thursday, (July 7, 2016) at the Genesee County Nursing Home, in Batavia, following a long illness.

Mrs. Tidd was born September 21, 1969 in Buffalo, a daughter of the late Charles and Virginia (Perkins) Davis.

Louanne was a loving, forgiving and head strong person.  She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed collecting dolphins and unicorns.  She will be remembered for her love of hot pink and black.  Most of all, she loved her family dearly. 

She is the wife of Alan Tidd, Sr., whom she married July 21, 1988 in Albany. 

Surviving along with her husband are her children, Charlene Tidd of Oakfield, Alan Tidd, Jr. of Batavia, and Zachary Tidd of Elba; grandchildren, Marcia and Adon of Oakfield; brothers, Charles Davis of Oakfield, and Stephen (Jane) Davis of Albany; sisters, Frances (Daryl) Hooten of Oakfield, Roxanne (Dean) Pittman of Albion.  Several nieces and nephews along with many friends at the Genesee County Nursing Home also survive.

She is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kimberly Tidd and an infant grandson, Jacob "Jaz" Tidd. 

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Genesee County Nursing Home for the wonderful and compassionate care they provided for Louanne.

John was a proud United States Navy Veteran. He was a retired farmer who loved to work the land. John was a good man who will be missed by all who knew him.

She was born at her home in Buffalo, her family then moved to Strykersville in 1956 and that is where she met her husband. They were married on September 25, 1971. Elsie worked as a custodian 20 years. She loved the outdoors, feeding and watching hummingbirds and feeding grape jelly to the oriels. She loved working in her garden and planting flowers. She loved do crafts and handiwork, crocheting and drawing. Elsie loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and going out with her friends. She loved her dogs Bailey and Hoboie and was like a kid in a candy store when it came to eating clams and other seafood.

Elsie is survived by her children; Angel (Tim) Ribbeck of Warsaw, Nelson H. Nowicki Jr. and April (Eric) McGuire of Arcade; siblings Nancy Roberts, Delores (Jack) Lempke and Donald (Cathy) Klee; grandchildren Jason, Brandon, Joshua, Angelina, Connor and Samantha Jane Waylon James Ribbeck, Dylan, Dakota and Isaac Keem and her very close and longtime friends Dale Bielicki and Tina and Russ Metz.

Clarence graduated from the Alexander CSD and worked for many years as a Mason with the Local 3 BAC out of Rochester and his construction company, Goodman & Schmieder Incorporated which he owned with his close friend and business partner Herb Schmieder of Attica. Although he technically retired and moved to Florida with the love of his life, Jean, he will always be known for how hard he worked throughout his entire life.

He is survived by his children; Raymond (Toni) Goodman of Dalton, Brenda (Merritt) Holly of E. Bethany and Carol (Mike) Lear of Stafford; sister Sandra (Raymond) Post; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a niece Julie Clark of Rochester.

Lurline was known for her love of sports, especially golf and her beloved Buffalo Bills.
