Accident reported at Route 5 and Indian Falls Road

An accident is reported at Route 5 and Indian Falls Road. Eastbound traffic is being shut down. East Pembroke Fire Department is on scene and Mercy medics are responding. Mutual aid for traffic control is requested from Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments.

UPDATE 2:31 p.m.: A trooper deputy at the scene said the silver pickup truck was eastbound on Route 5 when a black pickup truck (not pictured) attempted to turn left off of Indian Falls Road onto Route 5. Possibly due to either speed or inattentiveness, the silver truck came up quickly on the black pickup truck and tried to avoid crashing into it by swerving. The silver truck hit and broke a utility pole and then struck a parked, unoccupied dark-blue sedan (in photo on right). No one was injured. The accident is being investigated.

Motorcycle crash reported on Ellicott Street Road, minor injuries

A motorcyclist is down in the area of 5050 Ellicott Street Road, Batavia. Minor injuries are reported. A vehicle may also be involved in the accident. Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. The location is between Sheppard Road and Bethany Center Road.

UPDATE 11:45 p.m.: The adult male motorcyclist is being evaluated; very minor, if any injuries. A small child, maybe about 5 years old, was a passenger on the bike and was not injured. A small pickup truck towing a trailer collided with the motorcycle, but the driver was not injured. There is minor damage to the motorcycle.

Accident reported at East Main and Harvester in the city

An accident with possible injuries is reported at East Main Street and Harvester Avenue, Batavia. City fire and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 1:17 p.m.: An officer at the scene said the driver of the red Corvair rear-ended a charcoal gray Dodge sedan. A female passenger in the Dodge sedan was able to walk to the ambulance, which took her to UMMC for evaluation.

Car hits pole in Village of Alexander

A car has reportedly hit a pole in the area of 10532 Main St., Alexander.

The car is smoking.

Unknown injuries.

Alexander fire and ambulance dispatched.

UPDATE 5:53 a.m.: The pole is broken but upright.

UPDATE 6:02 a.m.: A field sobriety test is being conducted.

UPDATE 6:25 a.m.: The vehicle also struck a sign on Route 98 in front of the fire hall. There is no tow yet for the vehicle because firefighters are concerned about electrical lines on the vehicle. National Grid is in route, no ETA.

Car crashes into woods off eastbound Thruway, East Pembroke fire responding

A motor-vehicle accident with possible injuries is reported on the eastbound Thruway at mile marker 398.9. A car went off the roadway and crashed into the woods. East Pembroke Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 3:03 p.m.: The East Pembroke assignment is back in service.

UPDATE 3:08 p.m.: Medics are transporting a 56-year-old male to UMMC. He has some glass in his eyes and complains of left elbow pain. His vehicle went "off the road, into a ditch, through some grass and into the woods," says a medic.

Accident with injuries reported at Galloway and Kelsey roads, Batavia

A two-vehicle accident with injuries, abd blocking traffic, is reported at the intersection of Galloway and Kelsey roads. Town of Batavia Fire Department is responding along with Mercy medics.

UPDATE 1:28 p.m.: Command reports that shovels and brooms will be needed to clean up the debris. No fluids are leaking.

Two-vehicle accident with minor injury reported at Wortendyke and Route 5, Batavia

There's a two-vehicle collision reported at Wortendyke Road and Route 5, Batavia. One person is complaining of shoulder pain. One vehicle is in a ditch. East Pembroke Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 11:39 a.m.: A trooper said a car was turning onto Wortendyke, and so was another car behind it when a white pickup struck the second vehicle; the truck driver told the trooper he did not see the second car.

Accident with entrapment reported in Corfu on Route 77

A head-on collision with entrapment is reported in Corfu on Alleghany Road in front of the Dollar General store.

Three ambulances requested.

Corfu fire, Mercy EMS dispatched.

Law enforcement is on scene.

UPDATE 10 p.m.: Four injuries. An officer on scene says, "it doesn't look like anybody is super serious." Darien ambulance responding.

UPDATE 10:01 p.m.: Pembroke fire requested to shut down traffic at Route 5 and Route 77.

UPDATE 10:18 p.m.: Mercy Flight #5 out of Batavia has been dispatched to the scene.

UPDATE 10:31 p.m.: Patient extricated.

Two-car accident reported at Ellicott and Jackson, Batavia

A two-car accident with unknown injuries is reported at Ellicott Street and Jackson Street, Batavia.

City fire and Mercy EMS responding.

UPDATE: No injuries. Both City fire and Mercy EMS are back in service.

Head-on collision, Bloomingdale Road, Alabama, unknown injuries

A head-on collision has been reported in the area of 409 Bloomingdale Road, Basom.

Unknown injuries at this time.

Alabama fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 4:55 p.m.: Chief on scene reports one possible minor injury, one possible sign off. One ambulance responding is fine.

UPDATE 5 p.m.: A second ambulance requested to the scene.

Box truck stuck under Prole Road Extension railroad overpass, Stafford

A box truck is stuck under the Prole Road Extension railroad overpass in Stafford, or as a dispatcher says it "may now be unable to vacate from underneath it." Stafford fire is dispatched to the scene in case firefighters can help.

UPDATE 1:09 p.m.: The driver managed to get his vehicle out from under the bridge by the time law enforcement arrived. A State Trooper said the driver will be cited for disobeying the height limit sign, which states the maximum clearance is 10' 8"; the box truck involved had a height of 11' 7".

Car-into-pole accident with injuries reported in Elba

A car crashed into a pole and injuries are reported at Drake Street Road and Pekin Road, Elba. Elba Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 7:58 p.m.: Mercy Flight #5 out of Batavia is on ground standby. The telephone pole struck, and torn down, is at 3869 Drake Street Road. National Grid has a 20-minute ETA to repair the damaged pole. Power is out at the residence at that address.

Law enforcement looking for driver who left scene of accident on 490

At about 7 a.m., a car was reported off the road and into the woods on Route 490 in the Le Roy - Bergen area.

The original caller reportedly spoke to the driver, a female, who said, "I'm in a lot of trouble if law enforcement shows up."

Le Roy fire and Bergen fire responded. By the time the chiefs were scene, the driver had left the area.

The car is registered to a female in Hamburg, born in '37. 

The driver may be injured from a side-impact collision.

Dispatchers have checked with UMMC and Strong for any patients who have come in for emergency care and a deputy checked the service area near the location for the woman.

Hamburg PD is responding to the residence of the registered owner to see who might have been driving the car.

No description is available of the driver.

Fire units and ambulance went back in service at about 7:30 a.m. A tow truck is responding to retrieve the car.

Names released of teenagers involved in Oakfield crash yesterday

Two teenage boys were injured yesterday, at least one seriously, in an accident on Maltby Road, Oakfield.

The injured boys are Isaac L. Mejia, 17, of Lewiston Road, Batavia, and Damien L. Bush, 16, of Orchard Street, Oakfield.

Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash.

Mejia was taken by Byron Ambulance, with Mercy personnel aboard, to Strong Memorial Hospital.

Bush was airlifted to ECMC by Mercy Flight.

Mejia was reportedly the driver of a 2013 BMW 3201 that veered off the roadway on Maltby Road, near North Pearl Street, Oakfield, at 5:51 p.m. The sedan struck a tree on the north side of the roadway and caromed back into the road where it came to rest.

The accident remains under investigation. 

Handling the investigation are Deputy James Stack and the Crash Management Team.

Charges may be pending.

Within a two-hour period, three serious injury accidents in Genesee County, in Alexander, Oakfield and Pavilion.  

At this point, there is no additional information about these accidents beyond what is in our initial posts (links below).

Alexander:

Three people were injured, including one who needed to be airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight, when a car veered off Dodgeson Road and landed on its roof in a creek in a deep ravine. A state trooper at the scene said the cause of the accident had not been determined at that time. This accident was reported at about 5:40 p.m. (Initial post)

One person was taken by Mercy Flight to ECMC following a single-car accident on Maltby Road, Oakfield. The Sheriff's Crash Management Team responded to this accident to conduct the investigation. The car appears to have veered off the road, struck and tree and spun back into the roadway. This accident was reported just before 6 p.m. (Initial post)

In Pavilion, a car that was northbound on Perry Road apparently failed to see a stop sign crossing Route 20 and drove into the rear wheel of a tractor-trailer. The car spun around and came to rest pointing south on the north side of Route 20. Two people were transported by ground ambulance to Strong. The truck driver continued south for more than a quarter mile, dragging a wheel broken off its axel, while he tried to maintain control and bring the vehicle to a safe stop on the shoulder of the road. Head-on collision -- semi vs. car -- reported at Route 20 and Perry Road, Pavilion

A head-on collision -- semi-truck vs. car -- is reported at Perry Road and Route 20, Pavilion. Pavilion Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding along with law enforcement. Traffic control will be needed.

UPDATE 7:01 p.m.: Mercy Flight is requested.

UPDATE 7:06 p.m.: A landing zone will need to be set up.

UPDATE 7:28 p.m.: An entrapped victim has been extricated.

UPDATE 7:45 p.m.: Mercy Flight was cancelled. Two victims, both in a passenger vehicle, were taken by ground ambulances to Strong Memorial Hospital. The accident occured, according to an officer at the scene, when a westbound tractor-trailer on Route 20 was struck by a car that was northbound on Perry Road. The car's driver said she didn't see the stop sign; her vehicle clipped the rear wheel of the semi-truck, causing the car to spin around. It came to rest pointing south on the north side of Route 20. The semi-truck's rear wheel was bent and torn from its axel, yet the truck's driver managed to continue traveling uphill for a quarter mile until he could stop it at a safe location, according to a deputy.

UPDATE 8:43 p.m.: The truck has been cleared. Route 20 reopening. 

Accident wth injuries reported near Maltby and North Pearl Road, Oakfield

A one-vehicle accident with injuries is reported just east of Maltby and North Pearl Road, Oakfield. Oakfield fire and Byron ambulance are responding.

UPDATE 6:08 p.m.: First responders in Oakfield are calling for two Mercy helicopters to the scene.

UPDATE 6:13 p.m.: Mercy Flight #9 out of Buffalo and a helicopter from the central hangar in Canandaigua are en route to the accident.

UPDATE 6:17 p.m.: They will set up landing zones at the Oakfield Rod and Gun Club on Maltby Road. No ETAS yet on either helicopter.

UPDATE 6:22 p.m.: The Buffalo airship has a 12-minute ETA. No word yet from Canandaigua.

UPDATE 6:24 p.m.: Mercy Flight Central out of Canandaigua has a 20-minute ETA.

UPDATE 6:29 p.m.: The Buffalo helicopter will transport a 16-year-old male passenger who is in stable condition.

UPDATE 6:34 p.m.: The Byron ambulance is transporting one patient to Strong Memorial Hospital.

UPDATE 6:59 p.m.: The Buffalo helicopter is heading to ECMC; the central helicopter out of Canandaigua was cancelled.

UPDATE 7:02 p.m.: The Crash Management Team is deployed.

Rollover accident into creek reported on Dodgeson Road, Alexander

A rollover accident is reported at 3213 Dodgeson Road in Alexander. A car went into a creek. Unknown injuries. Alexander Fire Department and medics are responding. Mercy Flight is on ground standby in Batavia.

UPDATE 5:46 p.m.: The patient "self-extricated" from the vehicle.

UPDATE 5:53 p.m.: Darien Fire Police are called to shut down all eastbound traffic at Dodgeson and Seward roads.

UPDATE 6:01 p.m.: Mercy Flight is called to the scene and a landing zone will be established in the roadway, west of the accident.

UPDATE 6:36 p.m.: There are three patients, all of whom "self-extricated." Two are going to Strong Memorial Hospital via ground ambulances; one is going to Strong aboard Mercy Flight #5, which is airborne. The vehicle landed upside down, deep in a ravine with a creek at the bottom of it.

Accident with injuries reported at Cole Road and East Bethany - Le Roy Road

A two-car accident with injuries is reported at Cole Road and East Bethany - Le Roy Road. One of the vehicles is in a ditch. Le Roy fire and Mercy medics are dispatched.

UPDATE 3:54 p.m.: Le Roy ambulance is dispatched and the Mercy rig is to proceed in non-emergency mode.
