Car crashes into pole near Judge and Hutton roads, Oakfield

A car vs. pole accident is reported in the area of Judge and Hutton roads. Oakfield Fire Department is responding. Unknown injuries.

UPDATE 3:14 p.m.: There are no injuries, but help with traffic control will be needed.

UPDATE 3:39 p.m.: The Oakfield assignment is back in service. National Grid has an ETA of about 20 minutes to repair the pole.

Car accident with minor injury at Oak Orchard and Lockport roads, Elba

A two-car accident with minor injuries is reported at Oak Orchard and Lockport roads. It is not blocking traffic. Elba Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 11:42 a.m.: One person is complaining of back pain and another is declining medical treatment. Oak Orchard Road will be shut down at the intersection to accommodate responders.

Car crash on West Main Street in the city

A two-car accident with injuries is reported at 229 W. Main Street, in front of Ken Barrett's car dealership. It is blocking traffic. City fire is on scene along with police. Mercy medics are also responding.

Snowmobile accident in Darien was part of a drill

According to Darien Fire Chief Dale Breitwieser, an earlier post about a reported snowmobile accident in Darien was part of a drill involving the Darien and Corfu fire departments. 

The drill started a little before 7 p.m. and just finished up about 8:30 p.m.

Two-car accident with injuries in Pavilion

A two-car accident with injuries is reported on South Street Road between Dillon Road and York Road. The road is blocked.

One victim is complaining of a neck and collarbone injury. Pavilion fire is on scene and stablizing the patient. South Street Road is being closed down.

UPDATE 6:07 p.m.: Pavilion is back in service and the road is now open.

One-car rollover accident reported in Oakfield

A one-car rollover accident has been reported near 3238 Maltby Road in Oakfield.

Both occupants are out of the vehicle.

Medics are responding non-emergency.

UPDATE 9:35 p.m.: Mercy medic is on location.

UPDATE 9:48 p.m.: Mercy medic back in service with a patient refusal.

Accident with injury in Pavilion

Pavilion Fire Department is responding to an accident with injury at 7750 Telephone Road. One car is reportedly off the road and one subject is complaining of a leg injury.

A Sheriff's deputy is also responding.

UPDATE 8:45 a.m.: Patient is now out of the vehicle according to Pavilion fire. The rest of the Pavilion assignment can stay in quarters. Mercy medic is also responding.

UPDATE 9 a.m.: The Pavilion assignment is back in service.

UPDATE 9:11 a.m.: Mercy medic is transporting one person to UMMC.

Route 77 at Route 20 is closed in Darien after accident causes power outage to stop lights

Route 77 at Route 20 is closed because a power outage caused by an accident has disabled the stop lights.

No one is injured, but there's no power in that area.

The vehicle apparently slid off the road and hit a meter box. National Grid has been notified.

UPDATE 3:54 p.m.: Darien fire says the meter box has power, but will have to be turned off so the DOT can fix the stop lights.

UPDATE 4:30 p.m.: Darien fire is back in service and law enforcement is at the intersection.

UPDATE 7:09 p.m.: Law enforcement on scene says the DOT may not be able to complete all the repairs to get the signal lights working again. They are requesting portable stop signs for the night.

Pavilion Fire Department responding to truck driver down in the middle of the road in Covington

The Pavilion Fire Department is responding to an incident on Peoria Road at Wallace Road in the Town of Covington where a truck driver was found down in the road.

The truck driver is unresponsive and an off-duty EMT from Perry was attempting to perform CPR, but the truck driver continues to be unresponsive.

It is unclear if the driver was run over by a vehicle backing out of a driveway or if he suffered a medical issue and collapsed.

Emergency responders have been to told to slow down and there is nothing they can do at this point.

State Police out of Warsaw are responding.

UPDATE 3:30 p.m.: According to the Wyoming County Sheriff Department, a passerby stopped to help a tractor-trailer driver at Big Tree Road and Wallace Road as he was not able to make the turn and became stuck at the intersection.

The passerby, while helping the truck driver, had a medical emergency and died at the scene.

Pavilion Fire Department went back into service at 3:10 p.m.

Truck driver lost control on icy road on Route 63 in Monday morning accident

A semi-truck driver hit an icy patch on Route 63 near Transit Road early Monday morning causing the truck to leave the roadway, strike a utility pole and overturn.

The driver, Benito A. Taveras Fernandez, 43, of North Bergen, was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital.

Taveras Fernandez was driving a 2004 Freightliner northbound at 3:42 a.m.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Matthew Fleming.

Car into the swamp in Alabama

The Alabama Fire Department is on scene at 5912 Knowlesville Road with a car partially submerged in the water.

The driver called 9-1-1 after the vehicle began to fill up with water after going off the road into the swamp.

Alabama fire units on scene say the victim has been extricated and other emergency personnel can come in non-emergency. The Shelby Fire Water Rescue unit will not be needed.

 

Big rig rollover at Texaco Town, driver trapped in cab

A tractor-trailer accident is reported in Texaco Town. The driver is semiconscious and has an arm injury. He needs to be extricated. They need a small ladder to get up to the cab and pop the door open. The roadway is "extremely slick." Fuel is leaking; the product being hauled is unknown.

Sheriff's deputies are on scene along with Pavilion fire and Mercy medics. The junction of routes 20 and 63 will be closed; Bethany fire is asked to shut down southbound East Road at Route 63. As in several places in the county, highway maintenance crews are requested to salt the roads ... "It is nothing but a skating rink..."

One-car rollover on eastbound 490, two people injured

A one-car rollover accident is reported on eastbound Route 490 at mile marker 490.1. There are two victims, one is unconscious in the back seat. Head and back injuries reported. Le Roy fire and ambulance are on scene, along with a second ambulance from Mercy and state Troopers. There is black ice in the area.

UPDATE 2:03 a.m.: The vehicle is on its roof in the median. Both patients are loaded into the ambulances; both are going to Strong Memorial Hospital. A flatbed tow is called in. Le Roy is back in service.

Accident with injuries at Route 33 and Wortendyke Road, Mercy Flight dispatched

An accident involving a pickup and another vehicle is reported at Route 33 and Wortendyke Road. There are injuries and it is blocking traffic. East Pembroke Fire Department is responding along with two Mercy rigs. Mercy Flight is called to the scene.

UPDATE 11:21 a.m.: Extrication is needed as soon as possible. A landing zone will be set up in a nearby yard.

UPDATE 11:25 a.m.: There's heavy traffic congestion in the area.

UPDATE 11:31 a.m.: Mercy Flight has landed. The patient to be airlifted is conscious and alert. Extrication of victim(s) will "easily be five to 10 more minutes."

UPDATE 11:39 a.m.: A third ambulance is requested to the scene.

UPDATE 11:50 a.m.: Extrication has been completed. One person is being transported to UMMC; another is being taken to UMMC Erie County Medical Center. Mercy Flight is airborne.

UPDATE 11:58 a.m.: Mercy Flight is going to ECMC.

UPDATE 12:10 p.m.: The East Pembroke assignment is back in service.

UPDATE 1 p.m. (by Howard): Trooper Steven Brady said the initial investigation indicates that the sedan was eastbound on Route 33. The truck was westbound. The sedan driver didn't see the oncoming truck before executing a left-hand turn onto Wortendyke. The sedan was T-boned. There were circumstances at the time of the accident that would have prevented the driver from seeing the truck, Brady said. "He simply didn't see it." There was another car making a right-hand turn, which may have distracted the sedan driver for a moment. East Pembroke Chief Don Newton was the first emergency responder on scene. He said he requested Mercy Flight primarily as a precaution for the patient in the passenger seat because of the heavy impact on that side of the car. There's no indication at this time that the injuries are serious. The driver of the sedan and the truck were transported by Mercy EMS to UMMC with minor injuries.

One car rollover accident reported on Route 5 near Boyce Road

A vehicle that was the subject of an erratic driver report has apparently crashed in the area of 1669 Main Road, Corfu.

As dispatchers were relaying description and direction information to a responding deputy, the caller informed a dispatcher that the car went off the roadway.

The car reportedly crossed to the north side of Main Road and took out a utility pole, according to a first responder, then crossed back to the south side and struck a tree and rolled over.

The driver is out of the vehicle and appears to have suffered only minor injuries.

Twin Cities ambulance medics were passing by at the time of the accident and are evaluating the patient.

Route 5 is being shutdown at Route 77 with Indian Falls responding for traffic control.

Wires are reported down in the roadway. National Grid is notified, but no ETA.

Two people were injured Wednesday in collision on Route 63

A driver reportedly over corrected after her passenger side tires left the roadway on Route 63 on Wednesday, leading to an accident that injured two people.

The accident was reported at 2:23 p.m. Wednesday in the area of 5647 Ellicott Street Road, Bethany.

Isabel E.Cicero, 86, of Main Street, Leicester, was driving a 2011 Mercury sedan east on Route 63 when her vehicle left the roadway.

Aaron M. Titus, 40, of Wyoming Road, Wyoming, was behind another vehicle in the eastbound lane.

The first vehicle was able to pull to the shoulder and avoid a collision with Cicero, but Titus apparently could not.

Neither Cicero nor Titus were seriously injured.

Cicero was issued a citation for alleged failure to move safely from lane.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Andrew Hale.

Car and truck accident reported on Townline Road, Bergen

A car has reportedly hit a truck in the area of 7887 Townline Road, Bergen.

Injuries are reported.

Bergen fire and Mercy EMS responding.

UPDATE 9:36 a.m.: Another ambulance requested to the scene. Three people are injured.

UPDATE 9:41 a.m.: Additional ambulance cancelled. Current response on scene is sufficient.

UPDATE 10:47 a.m. (by Billie): One of victims suffered a head injury and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital. The road is reopened and the assignment is back in service.

Two-car accident reported on Ellicott Street Road, Bethany

A two-car accident with injuries is reported at 5647 Ellicott Street Road, Bethany.

Bethany and Stafford fire departments are both dispatched along with Mercy EMS.

There was initially a report of a vehicle fire, but the first responder says there is no fire and possibly only minor injuries.

UPDATE 2:40 p.m.: Pavilion Fire Police requested to Texaco Town to shut down traffic on Route 63.

UPDATE 3:41 p.m.: Route 63 was reopened about 20 minutes ago.

All victims of Friday's accident at Oak and Richmond released from hospitals

All of  the victims of two-car accident Friday at Richmond Avenue and Oak Street are out of the hospital, according to Batavia PD.

The two pedestrians struck either by a vehicle or debris were treated and released at UMMC for cuts and contusions. One victim was 22 years old, the other 29.

Of the four occupants of the red GMC Jimmy, one patient spent about a day at Strong Memorial Hospital. The 14-year-old suffered a broken orbital bone in his or her left eye. 

The driver, 40, was treated and released for a back injury. The front passenger, 45, was treated and released for a wrist fracture. The other rear seat passenger, 20, had no injuries.

The driver of the black Acura, age 45, suffered a back injury and was treated at UMMC and then transferred to Strong and has since been released from the hospital.

Chief Shawn Heubusch has declined to release the names of the victims citing an ongoing criminal investigation.

Previously, the driver of the Acura was reported to be Michael I. Sanders of 22 Columbia Ave., Apt. #1, Batavia. He was cited alleged failure to yield right of way.

Police trying to locate black Chevy Silverado involved in hit-and-run accident

Police have yet to identify the driver involved in a hit-and-run accident around 5:20 p.m. on Nov. 22 on Liberty Street near Ellicott Street.

A black Chevy Silverado struck two vehicles and fled the scene. Both struck vehicles sustained significant damage. No serious injuries were reported.

A witness described the suspect vehicle as an extended cab, possibly late 1990s or early 2000 with 4x4 written on the side. The truck would have sustained damage to its front and back. A partial plate of 14196 or 14197 with a letter A in it. The driver is described as a white male with dark blond hair and facial hair, approximately in his 30s. He is possibly 5'8" to 6' tall and about 200 pounds.
