Eugene C. "Chick" Halsey Sr.

Eugene C. "Chick" Halsey Sr., 80, of Perry, passed away on Wednesday July 30, 2014 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. He was born April 5, 1934 in Buffalo to the late Clair (Helen White) Halsey Sr. He is preceded in death by his grandson Bruce Brick Jr. and siblings Joan Fox and Clair Halsey Jr.

Eugene served with the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a construction supervisor for the Rochester Building Trades. Eugene enjoyed fishing and woodworking and was also a devoted Democrat who had a great interest in politics.

He is survived by 5 daughters, Wendy Brick of Lakeland, Fla.; Cindy (Mark) Stokes of Chili; Jill Lapergola of Rochester; Kelly (Jeff) Valera of Petaluma, CA.; Samantha Halsey of Manhattan, 2 sons, Mark (Penny) Halsey of Spring, TX.; Eugene “Chip” Halsey of Perry, 9 grandchildren, Jenny (Dave) Brooks; Jay (Amanda) Brick; Casey Halsey; Brett (Candice) Halsey; Eric Halsey; James Halsey; Michael Stokes; Dana Stokes; and Calder Valera, 6 great grandchildren, Layla Halsey; Zoey Brick; Cameron and Nicholas Brooks and Kendall and Tyler Brick, along with 2 nephews and a niece.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday August 2nd at Glenwood Cemetery in Perry at 11:00 A.M.

Raymond L. "Papa" Mancuso

LeRoy ~ Raymond L. "Papa" Mancuso, age 89, of Wolcott Street, passed away Monday evening (July 28, 2014) at United Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

     Ray was born June 30, 1925 in Lime Rock, a son of the late Joseph and Christina Regoni Mancuso.

     Ray retired from Lapp Insulator and Pulsafeeder where he worked for over 40 years.  He will be remembered as a very caring and loving man, who lived life to its fullest.  He was dedicated to his family, friends, church and the NY Yankees.

     He was drafted at the age of 18 and served as a Navy Seaman 1st class aboard the USS Roche DE197 during World War II.  After his honorable discharge, Ray returned to his hometown of Lime Rock, where he worked for LeRoy Lime Stone Crusher and played 2nd base for the Lime Rock Rockers.  He received his high school diploma in June 2010 from LeRoy Central Schools through Operation Recognition.  Ray was a member of the American Legion-Caledonia Post and USS Roche Association.

     He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Arlene J. Mancuso, daughters, Sharon (Tom) Royce of LeRoy, Debbie (Vern) Falcone of LeRoy and Laura (Dean) McClurg of Warsaw, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and favorite dog, Raina.

     He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters in law, George (Helen) Mancuso and Gene (Dale) Mancuso.

     Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4 ~ 8 at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy.  His Rite of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter's Church, 44 Lake Street, LeRoy.  Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery with full military honors.

William F. Strong

William F. Strong, age 83, of Perry died on Sunday July 27, 2014 at the Wyoming County Nursing Facility in Warsaw. He was born on July 6, 1931 to the late Frank and Agnes Strong.  He is preceded in death by his wife Luella (Baldwin) Strong who died in 2009.

William retired from Pavilion National Gas and RG & E where he worked as a lineman for 35 years. He volunteered for the Wyoming County Civil Defense Program in the 1970’s. He served with the US Army. He enjoyed hunting deer, squirrel and fishing and also belonged to a hunting club in Canisteo.

He is survived by a daughter: Mary (Joseph) Randazzo of Leicester, 2 grandchildren: Tonya (Joel) Clester of Perry, Travis (Amy) Gayton of Warsaw, 3 great grandchildren: Rowan and Demitri Clester and John Gayton along with many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Wednesday July 30th at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 N. Main St. in Perry. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in the West Perry Cemetery in Perry.

Marian E. Airth

Bergen ~ Marian E. Airth, age 93, of N. Lake Road, passed away early Sunday morning (July 27, 2014) at Rochester General Hospital.

     She was born March 8, 1921 in Bergen, N.Y., a daughter of the late Frank and Bessie Seward Long.

     Mrs. Airth will be remembered as a very quiet and gentle person, who enjoyed going out to lunch and dinner, and especially going on picnics with her grandchildren.  She liked her afternoon soap opera, putting puzzles together and doing her crossword puzzles.  She had a fondness for nature and loved her flowers and watching her hummingbirds.  She also loved her church, Stone Church Presbyterian Church, where she was a lifetime member.

     She is survived by her children, Shirley Hasenauer of Churchville, Harley (Terri) Airth Jr. of Cleveland, NY and Helen Airth of Albion; a sister in law, Elizabeth Long of Bergen, 4 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.  She was predeceased by her husband, Harley Airth Sr, her brother, Robert Long and her grandson, Michael Hasenauer.

     Family and friends are invited to attend her Celebration of Life Memorial Service on Saturday, Aug. 2 at 10:00 A.M. at the Stone Church Presbyterian Church.

B. John Olivadoti

B. John Olivadoti, 91, of Stuart, FL. formally of Batavia, passed away Wednesday July 23, 2014 at Catholic Hospice in Ft. Lauderdale.  He was born on April 11, 1923 in Gardenville, New York to the late Giovanni (John) & Santa (Repice) Olivadoti.  Mr. Olivadoti is predeceased by his wife Harriet Ross Spendelow Olivadoti who passed away on May 30, 1994, siblings; Carmella Olivadoti Constable, Mary Olivadoti Bilotta, Katharine Olivadoti Bilotta, Victoria Repice DeVirgilio, Ray Olivadoti all of Buffalo.

John was a member of the United Sates Navy during WWII in the Pacific Corridor and survived being sunk on the USS Hornet. He was an insurance agent for Mutual of Omaha Companion of New York for 50 years and was an avid golfer.  Mr. Olivadoti was a member of the Batavia First United Methodist Church and the Peace Presbyterian Church in Stuart, FL. He is survived by his son Richard Olivadoti of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and daughter Kim Olivadoti Martin of Hurst, TX along with many nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 29 at 11:00AM at St. Joseph's Cemetery Mausoleum in Batavia.

Carolyn J. Ross

Carolyn J. Ross, 85 of  Attica, passed away on Saturday July 26, 2014 at LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home. She was born March 13, 1929 in Meadville, PA to the late Clarence (Virginia Faulkner) Johnson. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband James D. Ross who passed away on February 11, 2010.

Mrs. Ross was a member of Attica First Presbyterian Church and the Eastern Star. She was a retired secretary from Attica Correctional Facility.

Carolyn is survived by her children Stephan Ross of Arkansas; Terry (Nelson) Green of Bergen; Randall Ross of Johnsonburg; brothers David of CA; Bo (Peggy) Johnson of Attica; sisters Lonnelle (Cliff) Sutliff of PA; Barbie Johnson of OH; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Carole M. Anderson

Carole M. Anderson, 61, of Elba passed away peacefully on Thursday July 24, 2014 at her home. She was born on December 16, 1952 in Batavia to the late Charles (Pauline Zambito) Augello. She is preceded in death by her brothers Charles “Chuck” Augello and Frank “Beech” Augello. Mrs. Anderson was retired from Graham Manufacturing. She was a member and former Trustee of the St Padre Pio Parish in Elba.

She is survived by her loving husband  Michael Anderson of Elba, sons Michael Anderson of Elba and Erik (Molly) Anderson of Elba, brothers Norman (Linda) Augello of Elba; Patrick (Jane) Augello of Elba, sister Pauline Ann Augello of Elba, sister-in-law Tamara Augello of Elba, grandson John Anderson along with many nieces and nephews.

John O. Block

John O. Block, 73, of Delevan passed away  July 24, 2014 at Mercy Hospital. He was born July 17, 1941 in Buffalo to the late Owen (Edith DeVine) Block.

Mr. Block was a retired Correction Lieutenant for the Attica Correctional Facility. He was a member of the Genesee Valley Antique Tractor Club and the Holland Rod & Gun Club.

John is survived by his loving wife Patricia L. (Cooley) Block of Delevan, son Thomas (Linda) Block of Boston, NY, daughter Cathy Block of Buffalo, sister Barbara Block of Lakeland, FL, grandchildren; Melanie, Leighanne, Matthew and Thomas Block along with several nieces and nephews.

LOUIS V. SALVADOR

LOUIS V. SALVADOR - Age 89, of Batavia, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon July 23, 2014 at the Genesee County Nursing Home. He was born June 16, 1925 in Batavia, a son of the late Joseph & Mary (Cifelli) Salvador, also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred (Atwell) Salvador in 2011, granddaughter, Christina Salvador and brother, Patrick Salvador.

   Mr. Salvador was a maintenance foreman with Lehigh Valley Railroad and retired from Conrail after 43 years. He was a member of the Lehigh Valley Veterans Association, past president of the Niagara Frontier Lodge No. 1473 and a longtime member of Resurrection Parish. He was an avid bowler who at the age of 73 rolled a perfect game of 300, an avid fisherman and he enjoyed collecting trains and coins. His favorite pastime was that of taking his beloved dog, Molly for boat rides on the Tonawanda Creek.

   Surviving are his loving children, LuAnne (James) Kujawski of Batavia and Douglas L. (Sally) Salvador of Oklahoma; brother, Joseph (Ruth) Salvador of East Bethany; sister, Rose (John) Polizzi of Rochester; 6 grandchildren, David & Joseph Salvador of OK, Gregory Salvador of FL, Susan (Dan) Boss of Batavia, Jim (Beth) Kujawski of Attica and Melanie Roth of Batavia; 5 great-grandchildren, Courtney & Amanda Boss, Tyler Roth, Aaron & Adam Kujawski along with many nieces and nephews.

   Family and friends may visit from 10-12 p.m. Saturday July 26, 2014 at the Michael S. Emma R. Walker

Emma R. Walker, 101, of Clarence, formerly of Attica, passed away Tuesday July 22, 2014 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.  She was born on August 13, 1912 in Buffalo to the late Rudolph (Emma Mier) Broeneman. Emma is preceded in death by her husband John Walker and brother John Broeneman.

Mrs. Walker was a stay at home mom and housewife where she raised her three children.  She was also a former member of the Williamstowne Village Senior Citizen Group.

Emma is survived by two sons; Ronald (Rosemary) Walker of Williamsville and Hans (Pat) Walker of Attica; daughter Louise McDougal of Waitsfield, VT, 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Ruth Gibson

July 20, 2014, at age 83, Ruth Gibson of Perry passed away. Survived by her son Mark Gibson, daughter-in-law Marie of Rush, two grandchildren, Corey and Nicole, and Brother Herbert J. Hawley of Henrietta as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Her Husband Paul Gibson whom she was married to for 54 years , Mother and Father Marian Knox Hawley and Fred Hawley and Brother Fred Hawley Jr predeceased her. 

Ruth was born on September 21, 1930 and lived her entire life in Perry Center.  She graduated from SUNY Geneseo in 1956 with a degree in speech pathology, which became her life-long passion.  She was involved with Geneseo Alumni and received the SUNY Geneseo Meritorious Service Award and served on the Geneseo Alumni Board for many years.

She was a teacher in Warsaw and Wyoming schools and taught at Perry Central Schools from 1965 to 1992.  She supervised AFS and Rotary exchange for 45 years and was a second mother to many students from across the globe.  She loved to travel and visited some of her students in Italy, France and Switzerland.  Ruth directed many plays with Perry Central Drama Club and Perry Players.  She loved theatre, opera and the arts. Ruth was also a member of the Perry Rotary club and received their Paul Harris Fellow twice. She was a founding member of Project Read, worked extensively with Literacy Volunteers and was involved with the Perry Public Library.

From these many connections, she gained life-long friends and greatly valued her relationships with each and every one.  She had a kind heart and wanted to help anyone in need.  Her legacy was to try to make the world a better place through her many volunteer efforts.  She carried sincere pride for her son and grandchildren.  In later years, with her mobility decreasing, the phone and her computer remained her lifeline to continue to reach out and touch the world.  She will be greatly missed but her spirit will carry on in the hearts of all those she inspired on a daily basis.

Wendy Michelle Bradley

Wendy Michelle Bradley, 42 of Akron, passed away suddenly on Saturday (July 19, 2014) in Springfield, PA. 

She was born in Batavia, NY on October 23, 1971, a daughter of the late James and Cherry (Stanley) Harlach.

Wendy was employed by KAMCO Supply of New England in Buffalo.  She will always be remembered by her smile and how her open heart welcomed everyone into her home and life.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Bradley of Akron. Children, Justin Michael Bradley and Jenna Michelle Bradley, both of Akron.  Step-children, Amanda (Andy) Swindall of Topeka, KS.  Grandchildren, Angelina, Garrett, Connor and Nathan.  Brothers, James (Jennifer) Harlach, Troy (Kelly) Harlach and Brian Harlach, all of Pembroke.  Brother and sister in-law, Ertis “Bud” (Meredith) Bradley of Edinburg, TX and Lynn (Steve) Carlo of Williamsville, NY.  Also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dorothy Parsons

Dorothy Parsons, 96, of Batavia passed away on July 20, 2014 at Genesee County Nursing Home. She was born December 3, 1917 in Batavia to the late Edward (Mary Jane Dean) Myers. She is preceded in death by her son Jack Parsons Jr.

Dorothy was a retired Senior Social Welfare Examiner for Genesee County Social Services. She was active in the former Rainbow Club at the YWCA; volunteered at Planned Parenthood and a member of the Professional Business Women’s Group.  Dorothy was known for being a great baker especially her signature chocolate chip cookies and fudge.  She fostered many animals over the years and had an amazing love for them, especially her cats.

Dorothy is survived by her children Gail (Leif) Nicolaisen of Oneida Castle; Ronald Parsons of Gladewater, TX; Connie (Charles) Boyd of Batavia; cats Wally & Miss Kitty; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

There will be no prior calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest in the Historic Batavia Cemetery.

George L. Wells

Corfu - George L. Wells, 81, of Corfu, passed away at his home Saturday (July 19, 2014) in the loving care of his family.

George was born December 17, 1932 in Batavia, a son of the late Elbert and Mildred North Wells.

George was proud of his United States Army military service, where he was hand selected to work security for the CIA guarding Russian spies, and as General Lucian Truscott’s personal chauffeur while stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
George enjoyed deer hunting with his boys, who always made sure his blind was warm and dry. He enjoyed maintaining his property with his John Deere equipment. He loved large family gatherings at his home where he always wanted a head count to brag to friends. George drove truck for Angelica Health Care until retiring at the age of 65. George was a member of Holy Name of Mary Parish. George was predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Anna Kuehnlein Wells and his three brothers, Harley Wells, Ralph Wells and twin brother John Wells.

Surviving are his children; Linda (Mark) vonKramer, Carol (Tim) Ahrens, Richard (Claudia) Wells, George Jr. (Cindy) Wells, Steven (Traci) Wells, Michael (Sharon) Wells and Joe Hendry; 14 grandchildren; Matt (Kelly), Jeff (Jaime), Krista (Josh), Autumn, Jesse (Kelly), Katelyn (Ryan), Morgan, Amanda, Teri (Josh), Ashley (Chad), Josh (Audrey), Zac (Erica), Michael Jr. and Danny; 11 great grandsons, 3 great granddaughters and was looking forward to the birth of 2 more in a few weeks. Sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends may call Tuesday 4 to 8 p.m. at the C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc., 4 East Main Street, Corfu. Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 8656 Church Street, East Pembroke. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, East Pembroke. Frances "Louise" Wright

Pavilion ~ Frances Louise Wright, age 89, formerly of W. Park Street, passed away Sunday morning (July 20, 2014) at the Genesee County Nursing Home.

     Mrs. Wright was born October 3, 1924 in Columbia, TN, a daughter of the late Irvine and Virginia Clark Scribner.

     She will be remembered as a very caring and compassionate person, who was totally devoted to her family.  She was a charter member of the Pavilion Firemen's Auxiliary and "Woman of the Year", a girl scout leader during the 1960's and a member of the Pavilion Senior Citizen's organization, "Young at heart".

      Mrs. Wright is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Henry "Hank" Wright, her sons, Douglas (Kathy) Wright of Pavilion and David Wright of Pavilion, her daughters, Ginger Sackel (Marjorie Wilkison) of Flatrock, NC and Phyllis (Dr. Mark) Hagen of Westfield, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by 9 siblings and her brother in law, Donald Wright Sr.

     Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4 ~ 8 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy.  A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to be announced at the Pavilion United Methodist Church.  Interment will be private in the Pavilion Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Pavilion United Methodist Church.
