Gordon Diver age 62 of Pembroke passed away at the Premier Nursing Home in Batavia NY the afternoon of Friday January 14 2022. 

Gordon was born October 4th 1959 in Batavia NY.  He was married to the late Deborah Exford of Leroy NY who passed in 2013.    

Gordon was raised on the family farm in Pembroke NY with his siblings where he enjoyed riding recreational vehicles and working on them.  He also enjoyed being around the family diner (Dees) lending a helping hand when needed.   

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence Sr. in 2008 and Delores Falker Diver in 2014, and a nephew Daniel E. King in 2021.

He is survived by his siblings; sister Linda and Timothy King, along with brother Lawrence Jr. and Kathleen Diver all of Pembroke, and brother Mark and Linda Diver of Erie, Pennsylvania.  Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins.

  Joseph J. Joyce, 68, of E. Pembroke, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 14, 2022 at the Buffalo VA Medical Center. He was born on November 14, 1953 in Buffalo to the late James A. and Eileen (McCabe) Joyce. In addition to his parents, Joe is predeceased by his wife; Gail (Ewert) Joyce.

Joe was a United States Army Veteran, having served from 1971-2008 when he retired as a First Sergeant. He was a member of the 82^nd Airborne Division, Military Police, Medic and Combat Engineer units. He was an Independent Contractor in Iraq specializing in advanced weapons systems and was a proud member of the Patriot Guard Riders of WNY. He worked for many years as a diesel mechanic for Syracuse Supply Co. in Tonawanda. He owned and operated All American Tree business as well. Joe was an avid skydiver in his spare time, and above all else a proud Papa who loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children; Eileen Peterson of Corfu and Neil (Olga) Joyce of Pittsford, siblings Nancy (late Bill) Finkney of Oakfield, Connie (Kevin) Hammond of Cuba, William (Susan) Joyce of E. Pembroke, Maureen (Dennis) Ryan of Batavia, James (Joann) Joyce of E. Pembroke, Karen (John) Zajak of Eden, Joanne (Jeff) Wenzel of Honeoye, Cathy (Joseph) Wasko of Chaffee and Eileen Slater of Batavia; granddaughters Alyssa (Charles), Payton, Olivia, Audrina, Alexandra, Christina, Natali, along with several nieces and nephews.

Batavia - Nancy Marie (Chatt) Jaszko, 83 of Batavia went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, (January 12, 2022) at her home with her husband and children at her side.

Mrs. Jaszko was born May 14, 1938 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Andrew and Dorothy (Washburn) Chatt.

She was a parishioner of St. Padre Pio Parish - St. Cecilia's Church in Oakfield and sold Avon for 35 years. Nancy was a precious little soul who loved life and was loved by everyone who met her. She was a mother to many and a peacemaker for all. Mrs. Jaszko was lovingly known as Nana by all the neighborhood children.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joseph Jaszko of Batavia; daughters, Catherine Jaszko, and Lorie (Scott McAllister) Jaszko both of Batavia; sisters, Susan (Ron) Odessa of Batavia, Shirley Scott of Batavia, and Diane (Chuck) Lee of Lockport; brothers, Michael (Patricia) Chatt of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Andrew (Christine) Chatt of South Dakota. 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

She is preceded in death by her son, Joseph David Jaszko.

Ronald E. Leaton, age 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, (January 5, 2022).

Born August 20, 1946 in Batavia, NY, he was the son of the late Edwin and Arlene Leaton, and brother of the late Kibbie Leaton.

To carry on his memory are his sons, Chris (Denise) Leaton and Kevin (Karin) Leaton, his two grandsons, Cole and Caden Leaton, and his siblings, Rick (Marcia) Leaton, Susie (Larry) Aiello, and Tom (Judy) Leaton. Ron will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Ron had a long and fulfilling career with Continental Can, Heekin Can, and Ball Corporation, calling Evergreen, Colorado home for more than 20 years. During his time in Colorado, Ron honed his skill of woodworking, enjoyed to cook and bake, and loved celebrating the holidays with family and friends. Ron enjoyed sports and was an avid Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rockies, and Denver Broncos fan, but he never lost his loyalty to his hometown team, the Buffalo Bills. He was a longtime member of Christ the King Catholic Church.

Ron’s retirement years were spent in Palm Coast, FL and St. Simmons Island, GA. To be closer to his grandsons, Ron moved to Dallas, TX, where he spent the final years of his life.

Anda Jolene Warner Ithna-Asheri, born January 9th, 1983, passed away unexpectedly on December 30th, 2021. Anda was a devoted and loving mother, an incredible sister and a loyal daughter. Anda is, and will always be, deeply missed by all who loved her.

Anda grew up in Western NY and had a passion for singing. Anda participated in several competitions and performed very well, including taking third place at the NY state fair. Anda loved the Lord, horses, the color purple and she never held an opinion that she was too afraid to share. She was adorably stubborn, often bold and always fearless. Anda may have had very little but, she gave everything she had to those who also had need of it. She was the kindest and most wonderful individual and her children were her greatest achievements.

Anda was fiercely protective of her children, her sisters and her brother, always ready to protect them, no matter the cost to her. While Anda may have struggled with personal demons, she loved and feared the Lord her God. In life and in death we praise Him, thanking Him that He is faithful, even when we are not. The nature of her death is not the story of her life.

Anda is predeceased by her son, Shawn P. Wolcott Jr. and survived by her two sons, ages 10 and 7, whom she lovingly referred to as Teddy Bear and Gremlin. She is also survived by her father Jay (Marcella) her mother Teri, sisters Brandy, April and Amanda, brother Jaysonjay and several other siblings as well as nieces and nephews, including her favorite niece, Jordan.

  Ann Feniello, 96 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 13, 2022 at LeRoy Village Green. She was born August 2, 1925 in Batavia to the late Anthony and Jenny (Fenello) Feniello. She is preceded in death by a sister Mary Lazik and a nephew Anthony Lazik.

Miss Feniello retired as a Union Steward from GTE Sylvania in Batavia after many years. She was a member of Ascension Parish and Friends of Batavia Peace Garden. She was deeply religious, extremely generous and devoted to her family.

She is survived by a beloved sister Floretta Fenello of Batavia; niece and nephews, Michael (Weiling) Lazik, David (Robbie Cohen) Lazik, Paula Savage along with many great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews.

Lockport, NY - Elwood L Clark, 87, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022.
Elwood was born and raised in Lockport the son of the late James and Edna (Brown) Clark.  
He resided in Corfu for 35 years, and Leisurewood Park, Akron, NY and Naples, FL later in life.  Elwood graduated from Alfred State in 1957. He married the love of his life Barbara Herzog in 1958 and enjoyed more than 61 years of marriage and five children. Barbara predeceased him in 2019.  He worked at Graham Mfg in Batavia as a mechanical engineer for more than 30 years.  He was a harness horse enthusiast, owner and trainer for about 40 years; owned St. Nick and 11 other horses.  He enjoyed social activities being with friends and family.  He was a competitive game player, especially with cards.  He especially loved watching sports and was a Buffalo Bills fan.
 
Survivors include: children Christopher Clark, Matthew Clark (Linda), Gregory Clark (Michelle), Elizabeth Weydig (Steven) and Aaron Clark (Corey); 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 32 nieces and nephews; and special friend Sandra Truax Kinisky. Calling hours are Tuesday, January 18, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc., 4 East Main Street, Corfu, NY.  A Celebratory Mass of Elwood’s life is at 10 AM Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at St. Teresa Catholic Church 5771 Buell Street, Akron, NY with burial to follow at Cold Springs Cemetery, Lockport, NY.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Niagara Hospice in Elwood’s memory.

Marjorie A. Bates Cunningham passed away peacefully at home on January 12, 2022. 

She was born in Batavia, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Marion Welker Bates. 

She will be remembered as a very caring mother, grandma and lady who touched the hearts of her family and friends.  A devout catholic, she was a member of St. Brigid Church, The Ladies of Charity of the church and was an honorary member of the Bergen Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.  

Marjorie worked at Specialized Caledonia Printing Forms, Rochester Telephone, Byron-Bergen Elementary School Cafeteria where she was known to all students as Mrs. Cunningham and H. E. Turner Funeral Home in Bergen as a greeter. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, George F. Cunningham; her daughter, Lisa Crosier (Chuck Bailey); her son, Lewis Cunningham (Linda); grandchildren, Michael Crosier (Lexi) and Stacey Crosier Cody (Chris Cody) and her great grandchildren whom she adored, Mckenzie and Cayden. She is also survived by her siblings, Lorraine Zury (Bill), Robert Bates (Late Shirley), Ron Bates (Robin) and Frank Bates (Barb) and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her brother, Richard Bates and her sister, Joyce Newcomb (Late Robert). 

Friends may call on Tuesday from 3 pm to 7 pm at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 South Lake Avenue, Bergen. Palm Harbor, FL ~ Nancy Merica-Keil, age 64, formerly of LeRoy, N.Y., passed away on January 3, 2022 at the North Pinellas Care Center in Palm Harbor, FL after a lengthy illness.

   

  She was born October 8, 1957 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Orpha Ferrara Merica.

     Nancy will be remembered as a loving wife, foster mother, sister, aunt and dear friend.  Her caring ways and devotion to families made her career as a social worker very rewarding to her.  She, along with her husband, Donnie, were foster parents to many children over the years as well.

     She will be sadly missed by her loving and devoted husband of 34 years, Donnie Keil; her sister, Joanne (Donald Jr.) Pangrazio; brother-in-law, Ken John, along with many nieces, nephews, dear friends and past foster children.

     In addition to her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her sisters, Karen John and Mary Anne White.

Batavia ~ Paul D. Fields Jr., age 52, of River Street, passed away Wednesday morning (January 12, 2022) at Rochester General Hospital.

   

  He was born November 19, 1969 in Buffalo, a son of Paul D. Fields Sr. and Nancy Fohl Cosimeno.

     Paul will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle.  He was also a diehard Buffalo Bills fan.

     In addition to his father, Paul (Sharon) Fields Sr., and his mother, Nancy Cosimeno, Paul Jr. is survived by his children, Chelsey Fields and Joshua Fields; two grandchildren; his girlfriend, Deb Harmon; siblings, Dorothy “Dodie” (Jeremy) Brewer, Jennifer (Joe) Riggi, Roger Cosimeno Jr. (Sherry Chestnut-Demmer), Kelly (Kurt) Wilson, Michael Cosimeno (Trisha Mathern), Andrew Cosimeno, Joseph (Rachel) Cosimeno, Jeremy (Katie) Cosimeno, Kristi (Brian) DeFazio and Kory (Jessica) Cosimeno, along with many nieces and nephews.

     He was predeceased by his step-father, Roger L. Cosimeno Sr. in 2018.

Paul Starowicz Sr., of Batavia, New York passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, at the age of 95.

He was born in Elba, New York on December 4, 1926, to father Paul Starowicz and mother Anna Stanek.  Paul was the youngest of 7 brothers (Chester, Henry, Rudolph, Al, Edmund, Steve, Leo), and one sister (Pauline Pcionek).

He traveled around the entire world at age 18 while serving in the Army during WWII.  Paul spent nearly 35 years working as the manager for the Noah’s Ark/National Auto store in Batavia.  His actions throughout his life were guided by bringing honor to the family name.  He was always well versed on current events and was sharp as a tack right up to his passing.  Paul was a devoted Buffalo Bills fan.  He enjoyed visits to the family farm. 

Paul was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Lottie (Wilkosz); children Gary (Deborah), James (Mary K), and Paul Jr. (Laura); grandchildren Sara (Brandon Doll), Becky, Kate, Lauren, Elizabeth, and Ryan; and great-grandchildren included Reece, Chloe, Thea, Reid, and Claire.  Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to Covid, there will be a private funeral for the immediate family.  A Celebration of Life is being planned for the future.

Holley - Mary Kathleen Deneen, 77 of Holley passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York.

She was born Saturday, January 6th, 1945 in Buffalo, New York a daughter of the late Donald Deneen and Aurelia Ambrose Deneen.

Mary is survived by her "mom" Dawn "Barb" (Late Jim "Poppy") Werth, Gwynne Phillips from Lifetime Assistance; sisters, Donna (Thomas, Sr.) Fowler and Peggy (Late Joseph) Wik; special friends, Elaine and Rosalie along with nieces and nephews. Her family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to her Lifetime Assistance Family who gave her a loving and full life.

There are no prior visiting hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. He left this earth peacefully with loved ones at his side at ECMC early in the morning on Saturday the 8th of January.
Loving Son of Anita and the late Dennis Giles and life partner of Charmaine Bartolomei and Bonus Dad to Malena Bartolomei.  He left behind many family and friends who loved and will always miss him.

Batavia - George Emerson Wood, age 81, died peacefully at his home on December 27, 2021.  Son of the late George S. Wood and Rowena Kendall Wood, he was born on March 2, 1940 in Batavia NY. 

He is survived by his son, Peter Wood from Geneva; brother Charles (Teresa) Wood of Churchville; sister, Rowena (Jim) Wood of Monterey, California; nieces, Stacey Steffens and Madeline Patterson; nephews, Steven Klinge and Charles Kendall Wood.

He was preceded in death by brother, Denniston K. Wood of Batavia.

Mr. Wood was a retired NY State trooper and was active in SCOPE. He loved mechanics of all kinds and was always willing to help. George was an avid storyteller who left us all the wiser and often “in stitches.” He will be greatly missed.

Nunzio Ferrara, 79 of Holley, formerly of Perry, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at his home. He was born October 5, 1942 in Warsaw, to the late Samuel and Mary (Cicero) Ferrara. He is preceded in death by his only brother Tony Ferrara.

Mr. Ferrara lived his life serving the Lord, reading and teaching his bible. He retired from construction and spent many of his years as a Grade Foreman. Mr. Ferrara was an avid New York Yankees Fan, he loved baseball, drinking Pepsi and taking care of his yard. His family was everything to him, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife JoAnn (Blowers) Ferrara of Holley; children, Christopher Ferrara of Holley, Mariann (Michael) Fleming of Bergen, Jean Ferrara of Gates, Ann Ferrara of Greece, Tammy Jean Bowman of Perry; 3 grandchildren, Riley (Eric) Gersch, Jessica Fleming and Joshua Fleming, along with several nieces and nephews.
