  Brian Macklem, 70, of Rochester passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 31, 2022 at Suzanne’s Comfort Care Home in Perry. He was born on September 12, 1951 in York, Canada to the late Robert W.D. and Marion (Dodd) Macklem. He is also predeceased by his brother; Richard Macklem.

Brian worked as a UPS Driver for many years. He enjoyed fishing, boating, watching hockey and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his sons; Michael and Jeff Macklem of Rochester; siblings Robert Macklem of Batavia, Vincent Macklem of TX., Denise Macklem of OK., along with several nieces and nephews.

John L. Caccamise, 70, of LeRoy passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by his parents, Leslie A. and Barbara Caccamise; and brother- in-law, Kenneth White, John is survived by his wife Bonnie; children, Jennifer (Rob) McCart, of Mt. Morris and John Caccamise (Jenna Stoll), of Holley; grandchildren Joey, Charlie, Danny, Cory, and Caitlyn; siblings Linda White, Donna (Tom) Schunk, Leslie (Jerry Burch) Caccamise, Michael Caccamise, and Jason (Cindy) Caccamise; many nieces and nephews, and special friends.

A lifelong resident of LeRoy, John lived a simple and honest life. He loved and enjoyed all things nature. He was an avid outdoorsman and handyman, always working on projects. John even built his family home and several family cabin retreats. Early in his career, John worked for Crocker’s Farm Service. Following his passion, he eventually became owner and operator of his own small business for many years.

At John’s request, there will be no prior calling hours. A private burial service will be held at the convenience of the family. John will be laid to rest in Stafford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wilmot Cancer (90 Crittenden Blvd, Rochester, NY 14642).

LeRoy ~ Christine Ann Marie Wark, age 37, of East Main Road, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, August 22, 2022.

   

  Christine will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister and dear friend to many.  She was loved by many and will be sadly missed.

     She is survived by her husband, Donald G. Cooper; her daughters, Ashley Tucker, Emily Cooper, Marie Cooper and Kaitlyn Cooper; brothers, Jason Wark (Cristal Anderson) and John Wark.

     She was predeceased by her father and mother, John Charles Wark and Marie Collopy Reinagel.

Kimberly Ann Quincey, 51, of Homosassa, FL passed away on July 18, 2022 after a brief illness at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL.

Kimmy, as she was known by close family and friends, was born on September 12, 1970 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, NY. She is predeceased by her father, John Quincey and step-mother, Sheila Quincey of Batavia.

Survivors include her mother, Marilyn Quincey, of Lutz, FL and her son Talon (Madison) Gauthier. Her surviving siblings include; Lana (Gary) Cotsonas of Homosassa, FL, Christopher (Valerie) Liles of Byron, Jeremy (Sandra) Liles of Batavia, and Ashley (Jason) Mlyniec of Batavia; also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kimmy, was a former hairdresser and loved exploring new places, often with her longtime friend Brian O’Connor of FL. She was known to go skydiving as often as she could and enjoyed hiking. She always made sure to visit Letchworth State Park when she visited family in NY. She had a huge heart for animals, especially her dog Molly, whom she often traveled with. Kimmy enjoyed renovating her house, boating, fishing, and being a grandmother to her three grandsons Hayden, Jayce, and Camdin Gauthier.

  Josephine “Jessie” Teresi passed away on Tuesday August 30, 2022 in Batavia, NY at the age of 96. She was born to John Zito and Sarah (Bonarigo) Zito on November 28, 1925. In addition to her parents, Jessie is predeceased by her husband; Joseph A. Teresi, Sr.

Jessie went to Batavia High School and worked at Bank of Batavia. She loved reading, crocheting and playing bingo. She was an avid listener and had many visitors around her kitchen table drinking coffee. She was a long-time member of St. Anthony’s Parish now Ascension Parish and Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar & Rosary Society. She traveled extensively with her husband places near and far.

Survivors include her brother; Harry (Sue) Zito; sister in law Janet Telga; son Joseph Jr. (Mary Beth) and daughter Dr. Gina (Scott R. Spear) Teresi; grandchildren Joseph III (Beverly) Teresi, Michael Teresi, Paul Teresi, Dr. Kelsey (Evan Janifer) Spear, Scott J. Spear and step grandchildren Julie Abrams, Kyle (Denise) Spear, Katie (Sean) O’Connell; great-grandchildren Emma Teresi-Marchese and Hailey Teresi. Also left behind are her faithful, daily coffee buddies Patty Tomazewski and Connie McClurg. Her Evergreen Family will be comforted knowing she is at peace and no longer in need of their compassionate care for which we are forever grateful.

  David Lee Salway, 78, of LeRoy, NY, passed away on August 28^th, 2022 in Batavia, NY.

     David was born in Batavia to Vernon Salway Sr. and Dorothy Speed Woeller on May 30^th, 1944.

  

   Dave went to Byron Bergen High School and graduated in 1962.  While in school, he was a track star and very involved with Future Farmers of America. Dave was very proud of winning the first place award for the Demonstration contest for the New York State Horticulture Society in 1962.  After graduation, he went on to learn to be a master plumber, learning his craft from family at Speed’s Plumbing in South Byron.  After that he went on to work for Wall Construction and then eventually for himself running Dave Salway Plumbing. “When you call Dave, you get Dave” was his proud slogan. He had been a plumber for over 50 years. Dave enjoyed classic cars, traveling; attending the annual WNY Gas & Steam show as well as his grandchildren’s many events.  He loved both square and line dancing.  He was very involved in Boy Scouts as a youth and later as an assistant Scout Master. Dave was an avid collector of gas pumps and oil memorabilia and was proud to show off his vast collection to friends and family.  Everyone that knew Dave knew he would give you the shirt off his back; he truly would do that for anyone.  He also called himself the original “American picker”. 

     David is survived by his two sons, Tom of Bergen and Russ of Batavia; four grandchildren, Nick, Amber, Hannah and Holly; a brother, Dennis (Linda) Salway of Tennessee; a stepbrother and stepsister-in-law, Charles and Carolyn Woeller of Skaneateles; two sisters, Dixie Alwardt of Stafford and Jeannine Woeller of North Carolina, as well as several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great niece and nephew.

     Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Vernon (Dale) Salway Jr. in 1994 and two stepsisters, Marjory LeSage and Judy Woeller.

     Family and friends may call on Friday, Sept. 2 from 4 ~ 8 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake St. Rd., LeRoy.  A private family burial will be held on Saturday, September 3 in Stafford.

Everett Scofield, 90, of Alabama, passed away on August 28, 2022 at New York State Veterans Home in Batavia.

Everett was born December 29, 1931 in Medina, the son of the late Grant and Genevieve (Ciesinski) Scofield.

A founding member and elder of the Alabama Full Gospel Fellowship, Everett was very active in his faith and would hold bible studies in his home.  Everett worked as an assembly line worker at Trojan in Batavia and also as a furniture maker at Taylor Brothers in Medina.  He loved camping, woodworking and he was an advisor with Aglow.

Surviving are his daughters, Deborah (Greg) Smart of Marysville, PA, Lori (Fred) Aquina of Batavia and Sandra Smart of Alabama; a sister-in-law, Janice (late Leo) Snyder of Alabama; grandchildren, Hillary (Nicholas) Amici, Jacob (Amber Becker) Smart, Joel Hiscutt, Danielle Hiscutt, Lydia Aquina, Tiffanie (Dave) Amerine, Haven Smart, Tucker (Tara) Smart and Corde Smart; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Alexander, Aurora, Elija, Josiah, Bentley, Colton, Finley and Calie (Dominic) Lettieri; a great-great-grandchild, Nova and several nieces and nephews.

Everett is the husband of the late Shirley Scofield.

Jeffrey A. Carlson, 73, of East Bethany, NY passed away on Thursday, August 25th, 2022 with his loving wife and daughter by his side. 

Jeff was born on June 23, 1949 in Bradford, Pennsylvania. He is predeceased by his parents, Donald and Marjorie Carlson and his brother, Terry. 

Survivors include his loving wife of almost 48 years, Janet (Hale), his daughter Katie (Nathan) Munger, 3 grandsons, Jacob, Gabriel and Isaac of Georgia. He is also survived by his cousin Carolyn (David) Wickman of Rochester, brothers- in- laws Larry (Sandi) Hale, Jeff Hale, Kevin (Diana) Hale, all of Batavia and sisters-in-laws Cindy (Terry, predeceased) of Virginia, Linda Hale, Diane Hale (Dennis) all of Batavia, and Sheila (David) Lukacko of Chili. He is also is survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. 

Jeff was a veteran of the US Army, having served in the Infantry Division. He was stationed in Germany where his duties were that of a paratrooper. He was a member of the St. Nicks Club and Godfreys Pond. He was once an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, trapping and archery but his true passion and love was his family and friends. He thoroughly enjoyed his Harley Davidson Heritage Soft Tail Motorcycle and his 1994 Chevy pick-up truck. Jeff previously worked at BAE Systems in New Hampshire prior to his retirement. 

When Jeff talked of yesteryears past, he could mesmerize you with stories of his life. His antics could bring a person to tears by laughing with him and sometimes at him. He truly was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all of us who knew and loved him. 

I wish to extend a very special “Thank You” to my sister Linda who transported Jeff between Strong, Highland and the Veterans Hospitals for many years, all the countless errands, companionship, guidance and prayers she so generously gave of herself. I also “Thank” my sister Diane and Dennis for all their concern, support and acts of kindness and strength which allowed me to be at home with Jeff and to my sister Sheila and David, “Thank You” for your continuous prayers, rosaries, support and compassion.  

To our good friends and neighbors, John and Tara Weidman and Family, a very heartfelt “Thank You” for all that you have done for us since moving here and for all that you continue to do for us especially during this most difficult time. To members of the community of East Bethany, a tremendous amount of “Thanks” for everything that was extended to us.

Batavia - Joan E. Hale, 92, of Batavia, died Wednesday (August 24, 2022) at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, surrounded by her family.

She was born November 14, 1929, the daughter of the late Frank and Agnes (Gilliam) Hulburt.

A member of Resurrection Parish, she enjoyed a dedicated and rewarding career at St. Jerome's Hospital in Batavia, much of which was served in the Coronary Care Unit. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved to attend her children and grandchildren's sporting events along with being a devoted Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan.

Joan is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Richard; brothers, Frank and Jack; and sister, Mary.

She is survived by her four sons, Richard (Nancy) of Seminole, Florida, Terry (Loretta) of St. Petersburg, Florida, Brian (Valerie) of Conesus Lake, and Kevin (Kimberly) of Oakfield; sister, Jane Hamera of North Chili; grandchildren, Christie (Nathan) of St. Petersburg, Florida, Ashley of St. Petersburg, Florida, Tyler of Oakfield, Erin of Vero Beach, Florida, Michael and Michaela of Oakfield; great-grandchildren, Steele and Saylor of St. Petersburg, Florida. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Elizabeth Ann (Hicks) Wisniewski, 39 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday (August 24, 2022) at Unity Hospital in Rochester, NY.

She was born March 17, 1983 in Rochester, NY.

Elizabeth grew up in Fairport when she was younger, where she enjoyed swimming, visiting her grandparents summer cottage, being involved with girl scouts and picking apples in Victor, NY. Her family then moved to Oakfield where she attended Oakfield Alabama Central School.

As a young adult, Elizabeth enjoyed working in the hospitality industry.  Ever the Social Butterfly, this was the perfect fit as she was able to meet people, socialize and enjoy her love of cooking. She was a wonderful cook and baker and enjoyed sharing her delicious dishes with as many people as she could.  A gifted artist, she also enjoyed crafting, sketching and painting.  Other interests included reading and watching Movies. She loved spending time with Gunner, especially outside in nice weather.  Her love of children also spilled over into spending time caring for her younger nephews and niece.

Most importantly Elizabeth loved her family. She had a huge heart and was thoughtful and compassionate toward anyone she knew was struggling or had a need.  She always tried to find a way to fill that need or brighten their day. She greeted everyone with a smile even on her worst days. Her smile, humor and love will be dearly missed. 

She is survived by her husband, Richard Wisniewski. Sons, Gunnar, Hunter and Lucas. Father, Lawrence (Debbi) Hicks. Mother, Patricia (Gary) Fitch. Siblings, Lawrence Hicks, Taylor (Roger) Laird, Trevor Fitch, Austin Fitch, Corey Brooks, Dannielle (Chip) Dixon, Amanda Conrow, Lindsey Conrow and Tyler Daniels. Mother in-law and father in-law, Richard and Marge Wisniewski. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Irene Will, “Hola!”, 74, of Alabama, NY passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Buffalo General Hospital. Irene was born October 23, 1947 to the late Charles and Sophie (Stuzenski) Will. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Michael Will and sister, Susan Fryer. She is survived by her remaining sister, MaryAnn Brown of St. Petersburg, FL and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and her dearest and best friend, Shirley of Houston, TX.

Irene was a member of CWA Locals 1122 and 1117 during her 26 year tenure at New York Telephone/NYNEX. Being the active, vibrant person she was, retirement was not her “thing.” After leaving the telephone company, she returned to college to complete an Associate’s degree. While figuring out what to do post-retirement, she became the Town of Alabama Assessor. Irene would enjoy that “something to do” for her remaining years. In fact, she liked it so much she was usually willing to help the neighboring towns, should they ever ask.

Irene always lived life to the fullest extent of those two quotes that she was known for. She was always one to make sure everyone at the party was having fun, including herself! While never having children of her own, she took great pride and joy in the upbringing of her nieces and nephews. Whether it be trips to the zoo or parks, long trips to New York City or simple visits to Auntie’s to swim, she always made sure to “Live it Up!” Irene was a truly unique and one-of-a-kind person. She could be delightfully blunt at times, however, Irene’s hard exterior hid beneath a kind, loving and loyal friend. She will be missed very much by her many friends and acquaintances. Be it the “Sunday dinner boys” and Medina crew, to her friends over the years at Alex’s Place and back to the Tijuana Lounge. Irene was always the life and driver of the party.

As per Irene’s final wishes, there will be no calling hours. A memorial mass will be held at the convenience of the family in the near future. Wethersfield - Elaine M. Kelichner Skotnicki, 73 of Wethersfield, passed away on Thursday, (August 25, 2022) at Wyoming Co. Community Hospital in Warsaw.

Mrs. Skotnicki was born December 5, 1948 in Buffalo, a daughter of the late Frank M. Raczka and Helen S. (Papaj) Raczka.

Elaine was extremely proud of her Polish heritage and enjoyed polish food, polka dancing, and celebrating Dyngus Day. For 19 years Elaine worked as an Assistant Branch Manager of Marine Midland Bank at Broadway Market in Buffalo; followed by several years working for Wyoming County. Mrs. Skotnicki served Wethersfield as Town Justice for over 25 years and was a former member of the State Magistrates Association.

Elaine is the wife of the late Robert E. Skotnicki; and sister of the late Michael F. Raczka.

Surviving is her daughter, Lisa (Michael) Kelichner Portelli of New Hampshire; grandchildren, Gianna and Dominic Portelli; brother, Clifford (Michelle) Raczka of Florida; and nephews, Harry, Thomas, and Jeffrey.

James Micheal Howard, 66.  James has resided in Kent the last several years.

There were many things in life that Jim enjoyed, he was an avid hunter, he enjoyed fishing, ice fishing and being anywhere near a race track whether he was working or racing, it became who he was.  During his younger years he was a heavy machine operator, he truly was a jack of all trades.  When Jim was in his younger years he was in the Army for a short time.  Jim enjoyed making people laugh and telling his jokes. His children were his pride and joy.  

Surviving in addition to his longtime girlfriend, Pam Reis and her daughter, include numerous brothers and sisters, Robert Howard, spouse (Betty), Wayne Howard, spouse (Diane), Judy Heinlein, spouse (Jim), Barbara Klutts, spouse (Carl), Carol Ashwurth, spouse (Norm);  
children, Kevin Howard, (girlfriend, Sam Majors) and several daughters, Mandy Howard, spouse (Tiffany), Carolyn McKnight, spouse (Wesley), and Heather Rogers.  James has 6 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews too many to name but he loved them with all of his heart.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Caroline Howard and a daughter, Sara Howard.

Jim will be missed by anybody who knew him and loved him.

Holley:  Thomas J. Engert, 67, passed away August 25, 2022.  He was born November 25, 1954, in Albion, NY, the son of the late Charles F. and Lucy Isabel (Ruger) Engert.  Tom attended Day Hab. through ARC GLOW.  He loved family get togethers and spending time with his peers at ARC GLOW. 
 
Tom was predeceased by his siblings, Charles J. Engert, Walter J. Engert, Ronald J. Engert and Dianne L. Paul. 
Tom is survived by his siblings, Marilyn (George) Strabel, Barbara J. VanLoan and William J. Engert; sisters-in law, Katie Engert and Sheron Engert; brother-in-law Jim Paul; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Mary Bernice Kajstura, nee Latko, 60, of Ormond Beach passed to eternal life on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Advent Health Hospital in Ormond Beach, FL in the arms of her loving husband, Alex.  

Mary was born January 17, 1962 in Batavia, NY, the first of five children of Richard and the late Eleanor Latko of Oakfield, NY.  

She was a devout Roman Catholic who maintained a faithful prayer life and was a member of Prince of Peace Parish in Ormond Beach.  Mary graduated from Oakfield-Alabama Jr. Sr. High School and with a degree in business and music from Genesee Community College, and studied at SUNY Brockport, NY and Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, FL. 

Mary enjoyed music, travel, cooking and loved animals, rescuing many cats. Mary was happy living in Upstate New York, but enjoyed visiting the warm sunny beaches of Florida where she met Alex, fell in love, and moved to Ormond Beach permanently.  Mary had a big heart, generous personality and never met a stranger. She was a licensed insurance agent, retail business manager and dental office professional. Mary was involved with the Council of Catholic Women at Prince of Peace Church.  

Survivors include the love of her life, husband, Alex Kajstura of Ormond Beach, FL, her father Richard J. Latko of Oakfield, NY; her brothers and sisters Richard J. (Daisy) Latko, Jr. Kathleen Padgett, Laura M. (Michael D.) Scarborough, and George (Diana) Latko several nephews, a great-nephew and her faithful cat Jackson.

Family and friends are invited to share thoughts, condolences and fond memories on Saturday (Sept. 3^rd) from 10am-11am at St. Padre Pio Parish, 56 Maple Ave., Oakfield, where Mary’s Funeral Mass will commence at 11:00am. She will be laid to rest in St. Cecelia’s Cemetery. A celebration of Mary’s life will follow immediately.
