Dora Louise Popp-Milliron

Dora Louise Popp-Milliron, 93, of Buffalo formerly of Perry died on Friday April 3, 2015 at her home in Buffalo surrounded by family.  She was born in Perry on June 5, 1921 a daughter of the late Harry and Ruth Lowery Barber. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband: John Popp who died in 1966, and siblings: Ruth Marcucci, Clifford and John Barber.

Dora was a graduate of Perry High School. She worked for the former Champion Products in Perry, and after moving to Buffalo 47 years ago she worked for The University of Buffalo in the Credit Union Department. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Perry. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts.

She is survived by her husband Edwin whom she married in 1969, 2 sons: Dr. A. John (Margaret Vosburgh) Popp of Albany, Tom (Holly) Popp of Seneca Falls, a step daughter: Deborah Hough of Buffalo, a sister: Harriett Gill of Perry, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday April 7th from 11:30am – 12:30pm at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main St. in Perry where services will follow at 12:30pm. DENNIS P. O'KEEFE

DENNIS P. O'KEEFE - age 74, of West Seneca died suddenly Thursday afternoon April 2, 2015 at South Buffalo Mercy Hospital. He was born January 17, 1941 in Buffalo, NY to the late John M. and Kathryn (Homegardner) O'Keefe also preceded in death by brothers, John "Jack" and Michael O'Keefe and sister, Marianne Lopez.

   Mr. O'Keefe was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Church in Hamburg and worked for many years at General Motors prior to his retirement. He is a US Marine Corps Veteran and a former school board member in Orchard Park.

   Surviving is his beloved wife of 49 years, Barbara (Whalen) O'Keefe of West Seneca; loving sons, Dennis (Linda) O'Keefe of Guilderland, NY, Rev. Patrick O'Keefe (formerly in residence at St. Padre Pio Parish Elba/Oakfield) of Hamburg and Kevin (Sue) O'Keefe of Winchester, VA; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews survive.

Gerald A. Dedoszak

Gerald A. Dedoszak, 63, of Varysburg died Wednesday April 1, 2015 peacefully at his home under the loving care of his immediate family and hospice.  He was born February 27, 1952 in Buffalo to John and Helen Beglinger Dedoszak.

Jerry retired from Motorola, Inc. after 35 years of service.  After retirement, he held several part time jobs and owned harness race horses.  He enjoyed golfing, bowling, watching his horses race, working in his yard and woods, and watching the Buffalo Bills and NY Yankees.  He mostly enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  Jerry was a proud member of the Varysburg Lions Club, the Wyoming County Veterans Club, Sons of the American Legion, and several harness racing associations.  He was a former member of St. Nicholas RC Church in North Java.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Tamara (Cartwright) Dedoszak; daughters Krystal (Brian) Dominick of Varysburg and Cassandra Shearing of Milwaukee, WI; sister Jeanne (David Schwenkbeck) Eck and brother Steven (Michele) Dedoszak;  sisters-in-law Kimberly (Charles) Schwab and Sueanna Cartwright; brother-in-law Arthur Cartwright; parents-in-law Andrea Lavery, Joseph (Brenda) Lavery and Chyra (Steve Balmas) Bowles, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  Jerry was also expecting his first grandchild in June.

Charles A. Price

Albion - Charles A. Price, 61, of Albion, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Price was born August 24, 1953 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a son of Jean Jackson Price of Byron and the late Arthur Price.

Charlie enjoyed photography and traveling with his family. His true passion was boating and being out on the water. Charlie said he "felt closest to God while on the water."

Surviving along with his mother are his sister, Margaret J. (late Robert) Hayes of Byron; two brothers, John B. (Kari Simonetti) Price of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Kenneth A. (Ann) Price of Greeley, Colorado; a sister-in-law, Kathy Cromwell Price of Memphis, Tennessee; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends including Rich (Jodi) Gaines of Albion.

He is predeceased by his brother David L. Price.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Louise R. Rees

Louise R. Rees, 93, of Batavia passed away peacefully on Palm Sunday, March 29, 32015 in the comfort of her home with family by her side. Born November 22, 1921 in Rome, New York, Louise was the daughter of the late Clarence D. and Ruth Plato Wales. On August 26, 1944 she married Arland B. Rees, who predeceased her in death in January of 2013. She is also preceded in death by her father-in-law David A. Rees; Mothers-in law Mabel Rees and Shirley Rees; brothers Howard C., Leonard C. and Louis C. Wales and grandson Joshua David.

Louise graduated in 1940 from West Moreland Central High School; Rome, New York. She held 3 different positions at Houghton College; Secretary to the Dean of the college, Secretary of the Public Relations Office and Secretary to the Church of Relations Director. She was also Church Secretary at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Williamsville, Woolworth Memorial Methodist Church in Great Bend, Clyde Methodist Church in Clyde and East Bethany Presbyterian Church in East Bethany. She retired in 1998. Louise attended First Wesleyan Church and Northgate Free Methodist Church Both in Batavia. Louise was a very beloved person and Christian Example. She loved her family deeply and took much joy in helping others! Her smile was radiant and touched your heart.

Louise is survived by her children John A. (Kim) Rees of Batavia; Carol L. (Paul) Ensell of Belmont; 4 grandchildren David G. Rees of Batavia, Kelli (Jamie) McClurg of Warsaw, Tomas J. Ensell of Belmont, Cara M. Ensell of Elmira.

Audrey M. Lee

Audrey M. Lee, 85, of Batavia passed away on Tuesday March 31, 2015 at Genesee County Nursing Home. She was born July 26, 1929 in Batavia, New York to the late Albert (Laura Coons) Warner. She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas M. Lee; sons Lawrence T. and Thomas K. Lee; brothers Gilbert (Betty), Donald and Irving Warner; grandson Richard T. Lee and son-in-law Ronald J. Stepp.

Mrs. Lee worked as a waitress at Steak House, and also worked at Sylvania Factory and Oliver’s Candies. She enjoyed her family, bingo, crossword puzzles and playing cards. She was the Treasure for the Birchwood Committee.

She is survived by her children Gregory (Elsie) Lee of Batavia, Diane Stepp of Batavia; brother Gerald Warner of FL; daughters-in-law Cheryl L. Lee, Louise Lee, Jo Ann Sivecz; sisters-in-law Rose Warner, Florence Fryer, Donna Lee; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

Irvin H. Berkholder

Irvin H. Berkholder, 66, of Attica passed away Saturday March 28, 2015 at Leo Center for Caring after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 18, 1949 in Batavia, New York to the late Harvey (Rose Amantrano) Berkholder. He is preceded in death by his son Todd Berkholder and brother John Berkholder.

Irvin worked as a Mechanic at Waste Management in Rochester. He enjoyed driving his motorcycle, camping, and working in his garage.

He is survived by his loving wife Marian (McElwain) Berkholder of Attica; son Brad (Lea) Berkholder of Hamburg; daughters Evie Stringham of Attica, Cheryle Walline of Clarence, Carrie Varno of Avon, Christine Harper of Webster; 9 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.

Dorothy R. Wells

Corfu - Dorothy R. Wells, 88, of Corfu, passed away peacefully Saturday (March 28, 2015) at the LeRoy Village Green.

She was born on April 7, 1926, in the Town of Alabama, the daughter of the late Everett and Esther Van Alstine Hale. Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harley Wells in 1991 and her brother, Kenneth Hale.

Dorothy was a life long member of the Corfu Grange. Along with raising her family, she worked on her poultry farm selling eggs and later selling flowers at the Farmer’s Markets. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, going for rides and especially loving all her pets.

Surviving is her sons, Dale (Patty) Wells of Batavia and Lynn Wells of Corfu; four grandsons, Adam Wells, Eric (Kelly) Wells, Alex Wells and Brian Wells;  1 great granddaughter, Madelyn Wells, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call Tuesday 4 to 8 p.m. at the C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc., 4 East Main Street, Corfu. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Corfu. JANE M. CASTRONOVA

JANE M. CASTRONOVA - age 82, of Batavia died Wednesday evening March 25, 2015 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, Florida. She was born March 11, 1933 in Batavia to the late Charles and Susan (Elliott) Wilkes also preceded in death by her  husband, Peter Castronova; son, Theodore Castronova and brother, David Wilkes.

   Mrs. Castronova was an elementary education teacher at Attica Central School for many years. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed swimming, reading, going out to dinner and picnics with family and friends. She had a love for animals, especially dogs and will be remembered with her faithful companion "Blue" always at her side.

   Surviving is her son, Chulhoon Yun (Michelle) and their children, Kyongae and Emily of Batavia; loving sister, Jacqueline Campo of Batavia; beloved aunt of, JoAnn (Phil) O'Geen, Deborah Smith, Cathryn (Patrick) McCay, Mary (John) Carr, Susan Wilkes, Valerie (Randy) Butts, James (Alison) Wilkes, Jeffery Wilkes, Dawn (Robin) Ho, Charles (Kerrie) Wilkes, Fred Wilkes and the late Teresa (Mark) Giesler.

Joan C. Cheeseman

LeRoy ~ Joan C. Cheeseman, age 84, formerly of South Street Road, passed away Thursday afternoon (March 26, 2015) at Highland Hospital in Rochester.

    

Mrs. Cheeseman was born February 26, 1931 in Rochester, NY,  a daughter of the late Joseph and Marguerite Neid Michel.

     She loved to work in her garden and was a past president and member of the LeRoy Garden Club.  She was also a member of the bridge club and the American Legion, where she was very active over the years. She was considered to be very "trendy", and loved to shop for clothes.   After raising her family, she became a part time realtor. 

     She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Wayne E. Cheeseman;  her children, Linda (Paul) Forti of LeRoy, David Cheeseman of Rochester, Daniel (Michele) Cheeseman of Webster  and Mark Cheeseman of Buffalo; 6 grandchidren, Michael (Breanne) Forti, Matthew Forti, Brandon Cheeseman, Gabrielle Cheeseman, Owen Cheeseman and Aidan Cheeseman; 3 great-grandchldren, Ava, Weston and Emerson; sister-in-law, Virginia Anchor of Bethany, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Rose T. Dambra

Rose T. Dambra, 94, of LeRoy passed away on Wednesday March 25, 2015 at LeRoy Village Green. She was born June 11, 1920 in Rochester, New York to the late Anselmo (Angelina Giordano) Magliocco. She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas A. Dambra; sons Thomas and Samuel Dambra; brothers Peter, Frank, and Joseph Magliocco, and sister Viola LoTemple.

Born and raised in Rochester, Rose went to Jefferson High School and later attended Cosmetology school. She was a beautician in a shop on Park Avenue for several years and later worked in East Pembroke at the Thruway restaurant. Rose was also active at Our Lady of Fatima Church and volunteered at the Batavia Senior Center. She dedicated herself to providing a loving home and was a constant support for all around her. Most of all, family meant everything to Rose. She was a devoted wife, caring mother, and an enthusiastic grandma and great-grandma. Rose was admired for her strength, generosity, and great sense of humor. She could easily chat with everyone she met and instantly put them at ease with a few kind words. The stories and laughs she has shared will always be cherished by her family and friends.

She will be missed and forever loved by her children Barton (Susan) Dambra, Peter Dambra; sister Frances Natale; grandchildren Tom (Molly) Dambra, Heather (Michael) Fedele, and Eileen Dambra; great-grandchildren Abby, Ellie, and Maura Dambra, Ava and Michael Fedele, along with several nieces and nephews.

CARMELLA P. ZILENSKI

CARMELLA P. ZILENSKI - age 85, of Oakfield, NY died Wednesday morning March 25, 2015 at Medina Memorial Hospital. She was born July 7, 1929 in Oakfield to the late Vincenzo James and Mary (Cancelleri) Cardinali also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph J. Zilenski in 2007 and siblings, Joseph Cardinali, Rose DeAngelo and Jennie Frawley.

   Mrs. Zilenski was a longtime member of St. Padre Pio Parish (former St. Cecilia's), she enjoyed boating in her early years, relaxing on her porch and time spent with her family.

   Surviving are her loving children, Terry "Bear" (Susan) Zilenski of Oakfield and Carla (Steve) Cuillo of Kirkville, NY; 3 grandchildren, David Zilenski, Jeffrey (Colleen) Hyde and Julie Hyde; 2 great-grandchildren, Bodie & Pipper Hyde; sister, Angeline (James) Haehl of Lockport along with many nieces, nephews and her extended family at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Medina.

   Carmella's family will be present from 2-6 p.m. Sunday March 29, 2015 at the MICHAEL S. Harry John "Jack" Boyd

Harry John “Jack” Boyd, 84, of Medina, passed away on Monday March 23, 2015 under loving care of grandson and caregivers Tim (Lynda) Kelso Jr. He was born March 18, 1931 in Batavia, New York to the late Harry (Marjorie Price) Boyd. He is preceded in death by the love of his life Leona “Trudy” (Kelso) Boyd.

Harry was a 1949 Batavia High School graduate and graduated from Suny Brockport with a degree in Arts & Science. He was proudly dedicated working maintenance for over 40 years at 400 Towers as well as working maintenance at Edward Street Apartments. Harry was proud to have served in the United States Air Force as an Airman 2nd Class and Gun Battalion as well as serving in the United States Army. He was an active member of the American Legion for 48 years. Harry enjoyed bowling, collecting trains, working on and using computers as well as researching his family’s genealogy. What Harry was truly proud of and loved, was reminiscing about his life experiences and sharing his stories with family and friends.

He is survived by his children Tim (Brenda) Kelso Sr. of SC., Vikki (Peter) Mazza of NM., Lindy Koepp of Batavia; brother Jim Boyd of Batavia,7 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

Shirley E. Buckley

Shirley E. Buckley, 87, of Batavia passed away on Monday March 23, 2015 at Genesee County Nursing Home. She was born October 31, 1927 in Batavia, New York to the late Gordon (Hilda Barnes) McConnell. She is preceded in death by her brother George McConnell and son-in-law Craig Hale.

Shirley was the Office Manager for Dr. Trifthauser. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, the St. Jerome Guild as well as being a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Shirley worked on the Election Boards. She was an avid golfer and was very proud to record a hole in one on the 7th hole at Terry Hills Golf Course.

She is survived by her loving husband J.Robert Buckley of Batavia; children Constance (Floyd) Duesler of TX., Mary Hale of Batavia, John (Sharon) Buckley of TX., Dennis (Louise) Buckley of Batavia, Tim (Mary Jo) Buckley of Batavia, James (Sue) Buckley of Batavia, Joseph Buckley of Batavia; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

Evelyn E. Nichols of Alexander passed away Thursday March 19, 2015 after a long courageous battle with Leukemia.   She is predeceased by her father Allen Meier, sister Ellen Batchelor and brother Kenneth Meier. 

Evelyn was very kind hearted.  She loved the outdoors and animals, especially her love for her cats.  She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her daughters Rachelle “Shelly” (Bill) States of Rixford, PA, Katrina “Kittie” (Dustin) Crosby of Port Allegany, PA; mother Ellen Meier of Alexander; grandson Evan Pekarski of Rixford and her longtime companion Tony Nigro of Alexander.

There will be no prior calling hours and funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
