Paul D. Strogen 81, of Daly City, California and formerly of Batavia, passed away January 29, 2023 at his home.
Mr. Strogen was born May 17, 1941 in Batavia, the son of the late Joseph P. Strogen and Elva Hyde Strogen.
Surviving are his son James Wohlford (Sherri) of Bloomsburg,PA, brother James A. Strogen (Virginia) of Sunrise Beach, MO and sister Mylynne Austgen (Wayne) of Elizabeth,CO.
Mr. Strogen was a graduate of Batavia High School where he played drums in the band and ochestra. He also was a member of the Saint Joseph Drum and Bugle Corps.
Paul served his country honorably in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Dewey and later as an electronics instructor at the Treasure Island facility of the US Navy at San Francisco.He served during the Vietnam years on a special warfare intelligence aircraft.
He was a member of the Batavia VFW as well as in San Francisco.
In later years he worked as an electrical engineer for various firms.
Mr. Strogen travelled extensively all over the world. He especially loved to sail his own sailboat with friends.
Special destinations for him were the Hawaiian Islands, Australia , Europe and especially Slovakia where he visited Strogen family relatives.
Mr. Strogen was a patron of the San Francisco Symphony and the San Francisco Opera and participated in folk dance in Europe and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. His motto was: "Music feeds my soul-Dance is my lifeblood"
He will be missed by family and a large number of friends all over the world.
Mr. Strogen's Navy Honors Memorial Service we be held at the West Bethany cemetery at 1:00 pm on Saturday June 17th, 2023.

Clarence was born Saturday, February 20th, 1937 in Batavia, a son of the late Fred and Mildred (Hirsch) Lathan.
He enjoyed fishing, golf, gun shows, auctions, and spending time with friends and family.
Clarence graduated from Alexander High school in 1955 and later married the love of his life, Judy Bortle, on May 28, 1971. He worked for many local farms and as a diesel mechanic for many years, finally retiring from Jones mechanical in Caledonia.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Judy Lathan; children, Calvin Lathan, Ron (Tammy) Lathan of Silver Lake, Kathy Lathan of Virginia, Stan (Lisa) Mosher of LeRoy, Colleen (Tim) Miller of Fillmore, and Karen (Jim) Perry of Corfu; 10 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In death Clarence is reunited with his parents, Fred and Mildred Lathan; siblings, Lloyd Lathan, Norman Lathan, and Dorothy Staba.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at H.E. Turner & Co., Inc. Funeral Home, Batavia. Clarence's funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at H.E. Turner & Co., Inc., Batavia. Burial will be in West Bethany Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.

Jonathan P. Balaz, 41, of East Main Street, Batavia, is charged with falsely reporting an incident, 2nd. Balaz is accused of intentionally pulling a fire alarm at the DePaul Housing Complex on East Main Street at 12:43 p.m. Wednesday causing an emergency response by Batavia fire when there was no emergency
Debra Lynn Mattoon, 39, of Batavia-Oakfield Townline Road, Oakfield, is charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, petit larceny and third-degree identity theft. On Dec. 15, following the investigation into a larceny that occured in the City of Batavia at 2:15 p.m. on Dec. 3, Mattoon was arrested on the charges. She
Randall Steven Pashong, 64, of Batavia, passed away on Thursday, (May 4, 2023) at his home.
Randall was born on December 12, 1958 in Batavia, a son of the late Melvern L. and Shirley (Kirkpatrick) Pashong.
Mr. Pashong spent many long days working as a roofer for Mooney Construction in Warsaw, enjoying his retirement in later years. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, his enjoyment of football (particularly the Buffalo Bills), and the love he had for his friends and family.
Surviving are his children, Joshua Pashong of Batavia, and Rachel Pashong of Newfane; sister, Bonnie (Dennis) Dugan of Batavia; niece, Kate Whitcomb of Fairport; aunt, June Pashong of East Bethany; cousins, Scott (Barbara) Pashong of Batavia, and Brenda Pashong of Kentucky; the mother of his children, Pamela Dickinson of Batavia. Several other cousins also survive.
Friends and family are invited to call on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, where funeral services will immediately follow at 6:00 PM. Burial at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Elba will be private. Terrance L. Falk, 25, of Batavia, is charged with criminal possession of a weapon 3rd and menacing 2nd. Falk is accused of threatening two people with a knife during an altercation on Washington Avenue at an undisclosed time on Oct. 24. He was arraigned and ordered back to court at a later date.
A State Police investigation into a fatal motorcycle accident, following a high-speed pursuit by a sheriff's deputy in Batavia and Stafford, cleared the deputy of any fault in the incident, according to a report obtained by The Batavian through a Freedom of Information Law request.

Jerome E. Ware, 59, of New Rochelle, is charged with two counts of identity theft 1st and grand larceny third. Joel A. Rojas Perallon, 20, and Raul DeLeon DeLeon, 30, both of New York City, were charged with identity theft 1st, grand larceny 3rd, and scheme to defraud 1st. Ware's arrest came after a report on April 8, 2022, in Wyoming County, of a person misrepresenting himself as a Verizon Wireless employee.

Richardson, 18, of Lewis Place, Batavia is charged with: criminal contempt in the first degree -- with physical contact; criminal obstruction of breathing / blood circulation; burglary in the second degree -- illegal entry of a dwelling; resisting arrest; and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
