Children report male peeking in windows of their West Main Street home

A caller to dispatch says her children called her and said a male, unknown description since her children provided none, was looking into the windows of their home in the 3200 block of W. Main Street Road. He was last seen eastbound on foot on Route 5.

Sheriff's deputies are responding. The mother is returning home in her vehicle.

Dog locked in black pickup truck in front of Kohl's in Batavia

A dog is reportedly locked inside a black Ford pickup truck in the parking lot in front of Kohl's department store off Veterans Memorial Drive, Batavia.

An animal control officer is responding to check its welfare after someone called dispatch. It's 89 degrees now and the heat index is 97. It will get hotter today.

UPDATE 12:56 p.m.: "Unable to locate. I'll be clear; returning to the shelter," says the officer.

Dog on pillow under tree outside XXX business prompts call to dispatch

A caller to dispatch is concerned about the well-being of a "dog on a pillow under a tree outside Pandora's Boxxx." The adult products business is located at 4816 Ellicott Street Road in Batavia, near the intersection with Cedar Street. An animal control officer is responding.

Woman says there's a Komodo dragon in her hallway

Law enforcement is responding to a residence on Byron Holley Road after an allegedly highly intoxicated female called dispatch to report there's "a Komodo dragon in her hallway."

These carnivorous lizards are not something to mess with, according to wikipedia. They've been known to grow 10 feet in length and weigh up to 150 pounds. They will attack humans.

Pumpkin theft reported near East Main and Liberty streets in the city

The larceny of a pumpkin was reported in the vicinity of East Main and Liberty streets in the City of Batavia. The complainant says there's a "known suspect" in the case and has contacted the dispatch center. A police officer will be following up on the lead.

Deputy responds to complaint of 'suspected' stinky garbage burning all weekend in Pembroke

A Sheriff's deputy is responding to the Town of Pembroke for a complaint about the possible burning of trash. The address is 2473 Genesee St., near Read Road.

A neighbor suspects garbage is being burned, and has been smoldering for the entire weekend, "based on the odor and the ashes that are scattered all over the properties."

Neighbor concerned that kids are jumping in the pool during thunderstorm, calls the law

A caller to dispatch wants law enforcement to pay a visit to her neighbor's, where she says they are allowing their children to jump in and out of the pool during a thunderstorm.

"She does not want a confrontation with the parents, but she wants us to check because she's concerned about the welfare of the children."

A public works crew member is heard on the scanner saying "They're kayaking on Ganson." His coworker responds "I guess they're making the best of a bad situation."

Racoon causing commotion in hair salon

A racoon is on the loose inside the hair salon Head Games, located at 61 Swan St. in the City of Batavia. Someone there called for help in rounding up the critter and removing it.

"I told them we don't handle wild animals, but still they're looking for some assistance," said the dispatcher to a police officer, who has just arrived on scene.

Police looking for allegedly strange-acting man on the Southside

A man is reportedly acting weird in the area near the Kwik Fill gas station at Jackson and Ellicott streets. He's described as white, wearing a T-shirt and blue jeans, last seen walking southbound. He was said to be talking to himself, rolling around on the ground and flailing his arms about. City police are looking for him now.

Mower refuses to stop mowing

A neighbor dispute is reported over lawn mowing and the "right of way." One neighbor wants the area between the properties mowed, the other doesn't. The mower "refuses to stop."

Healthy raccoon bothering everyone in the village

There are complaints in a village about a pest and a bother. (Didn't catch which village.) A law enforcement officer wants more details.

"It's a very healthy raccoon that seems to be bothering everyone in the village today," comes the reply.

He was intially under the logical impression that it was a human pest-and-a-bother that the law had previous contact with.

As it turns about, this one is much more irksome.

Good luck catching the mischief-maker.
