 Joan M. Dugan, 82, of Darien Center passed away peacefully on Saturday September 8, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. Joan was born on April 21, 1936 in Buffalo to the late Herbert and Irene (Manzack) Fouchie. She is also predeceased by her husband; William Dugan and daughter, Deborah Taylor.

Joan was very active in the Darien Ladies Auxiliary and the Fire Department. She was the Darien Tax Collector for many years. Joan treasured her friends and the times they got to share. She was always on the go and was very strong, fighting until the end. Joan will be dearly missed by her family, friends and the members of the card club.

She is survived by her children; Glenn (Mary) Dugan of Roanoke, VA., Rebecca (Henry) Juliano of N. Tonawanda; son-in-law Jack Taylor of Batavia; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Corfu - Nie’Sha M. Smith, 23, of Corfu, New York went to be with her Lord on September 4, 2018. She joins her beloved baby sister, LaShana Smith and aunt, Susan Burrell. She is survived by her mother, Rosemarie Smith. Her father, Worrel Chaplin. Brother, Tyrone Smith, and sister,  LaToya Smith. Also, her “neicey poo,” Londyn Percival.

Ni was a Queen to say the least. We were all blessed to have her in our lives. She was loving and caring. She was not perfect, but when she loved, she loved with all of her heart.  She was a magnet for children and loved them as if they were her own. She had a passion for art and music. She was extremely intelligent making the President’s List at Strayer University multiple times. She was proud of herself by beating the odds and graduating high school, getting her license, and her own car.

Ni was always the funniest and loudest in the room. Right now the pain of her passing is loud. It’s loud and it’s heavy. May we all find comfort in knowing she loved us just as much as we loved her.

Her joyous soul will always look over us as she is reunited with her sister. For we have gained a beautiful guardian angel and that is nothing to be sad about. Peace and love. Forever Young. We’ll miss you, Ni.

  Gertrude M. Robusto, 94, of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Friday September 7, 2018 at Episcopal Church Home in Rochester. She was born February 24, 1924 in Rochester to the late John (Grace Fafisca) Torrito. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Pasquale “Pat” G. Robusto Sr. whom she married November 16, 1946; son Joseph Robusto; brothers Frank and Mike Robusto; sisters Libby (James) Lodato; Florence (Joseph) Quattrocchi; sisters-in-law Ann, Mary Robusto, Mary Kerber; brother in law Richard Kerber.

She owned and operated Pat’s Meat Market with her husband for 42 years. Mrs. Robusto was a very talented musician, graduating from East High, had a scholarship to Eastman School of Music and was a longtime member of Genesee Choral. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Choir and Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Robusto loved to cook, root for the New York Yankees and was an excellent baker. Her children and grandchildren were everything to her.

She is survived by her beloved children Pasquale “Pat” G. (Maria) Robusto Jr. of Batavia; Darlene (Wade) Bianco of Batavia; Jeannine (John) Bezon of Chili; daughter-in-law Barbara (George) Robusto-Galliford of Batavia; 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

STEPHEN G. CURRY ~ Age 56, of Byron, died unexpectedly Friday evening September 7, 2018 at home. He was born in Warsaw, NY, February 10, 1962 to the late Carole (Cunningham) and Garrey (Diane) Curry of Liverpool, NY.

Steve was an outdoorsman, enjoyed fishing, gardening and simply being outside. A huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan and avid watcher of The Big Bang Theory, Star Trek and Star Wars. Steve was a quiet, unassuming man that adored his wife, for the peace she brought to him, despite his many health issues she was always there to encourage him and for that he was forever grateful. He never judged even when you were wrong, he had a wonderful sense of humor and a deep love of family, he was devoted to his late mother, was a fantastic brother and exceptional father.

Surviving is his "Soul Mate" whom he married October 27, 1990, Laura (Darling) Curry of Byron; loving daughters, Megan (Eric Ficarella) Curry of Elba, Kayla Curry at home and Sasha Curry of Geneseo; "Best Friend/Best Buddy" his grandson, Cayden; siblings, Tracy (Edward) Kenney of Mt. Morris, Jennifer (Richard) Gille of CT, Michelle (David) Tillapaugh of Henrietta, Garrey (Sarah) Curry of VA and Dawn Curry-Clarry of Liverpool, NY; mother-in-law, Phyllis (late Denis) Darling of Stafford; In-laws, Abe (Jennifer Darling, Alan (Chandler) Darling, MollyAnn Darling-Krajcer and Andrew Darling along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Stafford- Doris M. Hatch, age 92, of Stafford, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018 at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Facility.

Mrs. Hatch was born September 24, 1925 in Rochester, a daughter of the late Claude Moose and Olevia V. Hardy Moose.

A longtime member of East Bethany Presbyterian Church, she was active in church activities including, the garden club, former trustee and choir member. Throughout the years, she made and designed several wedding cakes and had a love for her cats and dogs. She was employed at Central Tractor in Batavia and for The Batavia Daily News.

She is predeceased by her husbands, Lester Legg and Lloyd Hatch.

Surviving are her children, Aleasa (William) Dominiak of Stafford, Lorna (Douglas) Burger of Pavilion and Kevin (Michelle) Legg of Pittsford; two brothers, Phillip Moose of Livonia and Kenneth (Mary) Moose of Rush; her sister, Shirley Nuijens of Irondequoit; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is the sister of the late Donald Moose, Leslie Moose and Luella Dunn.

MARY F. "NANNY" PRIMUS ~ lifelong Batavia resident, age 96, died unexpectedly    Tuesday  August 28, 2018 in Batavia. She was born November 4, 1921, in Batavia, NY, the daughter of the late Charles and Sarah (Scinta) Cassenti also preceded in death by her only child, Butch Primus in 2016. 

Mary was a mainstay in the restaurant industry over a 60 plus year career. She was a supervisor at Ange's Restaurant which later became Christina's, she waitressed at the former Scotland Yard, Young's Restaurant and the former Batavia Downs Clubhouse and Hostessed at the former Treadway. Mary was a fantastic cook, enjoyed travelling, avid fan of horseracing especially the Kentucky Derby but most of all being "Nanny" to her loving, Nicole & Rene`.  

She is survived by her granddaughters, Nicole (John Pascarella) Primus of Byron and Rene` (Nick Pompa) Primus of Byron; great-grandchildren, Marissa Brennan, Cortney (Travis Knowlton) Greene, Jonathan Smith and Dylan (Victoria) Primus-Cook; great great-grandchildren, Jacob and Aubrey Knowlton; nephews, Charlie, George & Jimmy; niece, Natalie and several others along with many dear friends.

  Patrick D. Moore, 40, went home on Wednesday September 5, 2018. He was born January 31, 1978. He is predeceased by his sister Lisa M. Moore; grandparents Leon (Isabelle) Moore Sr, Earl E. Gilbert; Aunt Patty and Uncle Andy.

Patrick is survived by his parents; Leon (Anne Gilbert) Moore Jr. of Elba; son Abraven; sisters Mary (Lisa Carter) Moore of Fairport and Leanne (Kristofer) Moore-Lickfeld of Olean; Maternal grandmother Myrtle Gilbert; niece Isabella George of Olean; good friends Ken and Colleen Proefrock along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Patrick was a charismatic soul. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his family and those he loved. He was an extremely intelligent and hard working man. Patrick was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving his country for 4 years. He had a great love for his son and his only wish was to have more time with him. Although Patrick was a private person, he spent as much quality time with the people he loved most. Those who truly knew Patrick, knew just how big of a heart he had. He was a great father, son, big brother, uncle and friend. Patrick will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

  It is with a deep and profound sadness that Hollie Ann Ruck, 31, of Attica, passed away on September 3, 2018.  She was born on December 22, 1986 to Michael Ruck of Elba and Cheri (Maples) Ruck of Attica.   

Hollie was a loving mother, daughter, sister & wife.  She graduated with an Associate’s Degree of Nursing RN in 2012 and enjoyed her career as a registered nurse.

Corfu - Paul E. Reynolds, 63, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018.

Paul was born on January 15, 1955, the son of the late Edward and Mary Murphy Reynolds. 

Paul had a great love for farming, having grown up on the family dairy farm on Allegheny Road. He was well known in the area for being one of the best in farm mechanics and fabrication. Paul was very active in 4-H and FFA, earning the FFA Empire Farm Degree. He loved the outdoors and had a passion for restoring antique tractors. 

Surviving are his children; Dan (Mindy) Reynolds, Jeff Reynolds and Melanie (Dane) Anderson; grandchildren, Breanna, Luke, Hailey, Hannah and Logan;  great grandson, Liam; three brothers, James (Gretchen) Reynolds, Joseph (Gail) Reynolds and John (Shelley) Reynolds; three sisters, Kathleen (Robert) Peterson, Joan (Keith) Price and Susan (late David) Sleeper. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

ANTHONY B. "TONY" GALANTI ~ Age 76, of Batavia, died peacefully Wednesday August 22, 2018 at Highland Hospital. He was born January 30, 1942, in Batavia, NY, a son of the late Anthony and Domenica (Sylvania) Galanti, also preceded in death by his brother, Richard Galanti.

Tony was an avid baseball fan, especially the New York Yankees and many years ago served as the business manager for the Albuquerque Dukes, a minor league farm team for the Dodgers. When Tony returned to the area he along with his son, Patrick operated a Pontillo's Pizzeria in Rochester, NY.

Surviving are his sons, Patrick (Richana) Galanti of Brockport and children, Aiyana, Sophia & Nicole, Daniel Galanti of Alaska and children, Raine, Evelyn, Anthony & Jenna; brother, Marty Galanti of Batavia; sister, Lorraine (late Poncho) Schaub; nieces and caregiver, Jessica along with Shelby, Wiley, Chandler, Oliver, Bennett, Kim, Marty, Mark, Aaron, Ashley, Grayson and David

Beverly B. Doran, age 81, of Roanoke Rd., Pavilion passed away Tuesday, September 4th, 2018, at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw. She was born in Dunkirk, January 14th, 1937, daughter of the late Merle and Lillian Smith Babcock.
A lifetime resident of Genesee County and a graduate of Dunkirk High School, Beverly received a two year degree from the Rochester Business Institute and worked as a secretary for Kodak in Rochester, Boylan Law Office in LeRoy, and B.R. Dewitt in Pavilion. She was a member of the Home Bureau and the United Methodist Church in Pavilion. Beverly loved traveling, especially her trips to Europe and Las Vegas, playing Euchre and spending time at the casino.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Doran; a grandson, Timothy Doran; 3 sisters, Lucille Cornprobst, Joyce Sandhoff and Loretta Babcock; and 2 brothers, Junior and Gary Babcock. Survivors include 2 daughters, Sherry (Ken) Steinmetz of Byron and Marjorie (James) Cutcliffe of Pavilion; 2 sons, Robert (Lisa) Doran of Pavilion and Michael (Melissa) Doran of Bethany; 2 sisters, Arlene Weidnhofer and Beatrice Maguire; a brother, Robert Babcock; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in the Pavilion Cemetery. MICHAEL A. TENEBRUSO, area educator, age 50, of N. Chili, died peacefully surrounded by family on Friday afternoon, August 31, 2018 at Rochester General Hospital. Michael was born in Batavia, on March 11, 1968, the son of Anthony and Marcia A. (Bentley) Tenebruso of Batavia. He is the grandson of the late Maria Michaela Tenebruso and Laverne & Esther Bentley.  

Michael grew up in Batavia to a faith filled family as a member of the former St. Anthony's Church where he was an altar server and former president of the St. Michael's Society.  He graduated from Batavia High School in 1986 and later received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Elementary Education and Educational Administration respectively from SUNY Brockport.  While there, he served as a founding member of the Greek Chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu.  

“Mr. T”, as he was known, was later recognized as "Teacher of the Year" at Elba Central Schools.  His career continued as a well-respected elementary school administrator throughout Western NY. He served as an assistant principal at Attica Central Schools.  Later he became principal at Sheldon Elementary and Hillery Park Elementary schools in Buffalo, NY and received special recognition as the principal of Canal View Elementary School in Chili, NY.  

He will also be remembered as a fine athlete who enjoyed playing golf as a member of Stafford Country Club. Even during his illness, Michael maintained his passion for bodybuilding as a regular at Chili Fitness.   He led by example, mentoring countless young students outside the classroom as a golf, wrestling and football coach.

Michael's persona was larger than life.   He was a friend and role model to all.    Most importantly, Mike’s selflessness and devotion to mankind was most evident at home where he was a kind and nurturing father to his three beautiful children. Michael battled his illness head on for six long years, facing every set back with grace and dignity.  He never gave up.  Cancer did not take his passion for life, his mind, or his soul as he closed his eyes for the last time.

Michael is survived by his beloved children, Nicholas, Anna & Nathan Tenebruso all of N. Chili; loving sisters, Kristine (Patrick Sloan) Tenebruso and her children Lauren & Kayleigh Blalock, Jennifer (Stephen) Lockemeyer and their children, Jack & Kaitlyn; mother of the children, Laura (Terry) Tenebruso along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, especially Michael & Paul Berardini, his "Brothers at Heart" and many, many friends.

Sharon Ziomek, 74, of Batavia passed away on Monday September 3, 2018 at the Premier Genesee Nursing Home in Batavia. She was born on November 15, 1943 in Batavia to the late Earl and Luella (Kilner) Keller. In addition to her parents, Sharon is predeceased by her first husband; Malcolm Singer Sr.; brother Paul Keller and sister Patricia Keller.

Sharon was a longtime member of the Salvation Army Church of Batavia.

She is survived by her husband; James Ziomek of Batavia; children Cathy (Scott) Weaver of Batavia, Malcolm Singer of Olean and Mary Hodge of Rochester; brother Charles Keller of Batavia; 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

Keith W. Rood, Formerly of Batavia, NY passed in peace on August 6th, 2018 in Louisville, KY at the age of 55.

He was a proud veteran of the US Army and TN Air National Guard.

Keith is survived by his son; Alex Rood; sister Ruthie-Marie Beckwith (Mark Friedman); three brothers Donald Beckwith, David Rood (Nam Hui), Kevin Rood; ten nieces and nephews; one great-niece; his uncle, Lawrence Williams, his Aunt Florence Williams, and numerous cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary E. (Williams) Luce and stepfather, Kenneth Luce, his brother Dennis Beckwith and sister, Mary Jean Rood.
