A smoke detector is sounding in the stockroom of CVS drug store on West Main Street, Batavia. City fire is responding.

The smell of smoke is coming from an electrical outlet on the front porch at 3429 Dodgeson Road, Alexander, Alexander Fire Department is responding. The location is between Wortendyke and Alexander roads.

A locomotive engine is on fire at 16 Lehigh Ave. in Batavia and city firefighters are responding.

UPDATE 10:35 p.m.: The conductor of the train reacted quickly and cut off the fuel source to the blaze, thereby extinguising it before firefighters arrived. They checked out the scene and went back in service.

A tractor-trailer reportedly struck a female driver's gray Jeep at Judge and Alleghany roads in Alabama, then left the scene westbound on Judge Road. A deputy is responding to the property damage accident. No injuries.

UPDATE 4:09 p.m.: A deputy is out with the tractor-trailer driver now. It has New York license plates.

A trio of shoplifting suspects at Kohl's Department Store allegedly refused to stop for store security.

They left the store; two females were walking on foot near ESL Federal Credit Union, headed toward Home Depot. A male who was with them reportedly left in a Nissan with Georgia license plates.

Both female suspects were said to be wearing black jackets and pants. No description of merchandise allegedly taken from Kohl's.

Sheriff's deputies have the male detained by Five Guys hamburger shop.

A 3-year-old child was found wandering around in the 6200 block of Main Road in Stafford. The caller to the Emergency Dispatch Center who found the tot is heading to the Le Roy Police Station where an officer is en route to take custody of the child until his or her parent or guardian is located.

City police are responding to two vehicles parked roadside on Oak Street, just north of La Crosse Avenue.

"Apparently, some sort of road rage incident," the dispatcher says, adding that the caller reports "the suspect" pulled a knife on her. 

Then the caller reported that the person was following her down the roadway.

Police tell dispatch they are on scene just north of Tracy Avenue.

A deputy is responding to The Shoe Department store at 4140 Veterans Memorial Drive for a report of a red GMC Acadia with its engine running in the parking lot with a small child alone inside.

UPDATE 11:37 a.m.: The vehicle could not be located when the deputy arrived.

A woman who lives on Ross Street in the city has a criminal mischief complaint. She was just at Batavia Police Department and returned home and now all her tires are flat.

She told a dispatcher she believes someone slashed her tires while she was inside the police headquarters on Main Street. Police are outside with the caller and her vehicle now on Ross Street.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the Target store in Batavia after a caller reported to the emergency dispatch center that a man left a baby alone inside a black Volvo SUV in the parking lot, and a boy outside in the snow on a bench, and went inside the store.

He was seen standing at the customer service counter, described as a white male, about 40 years old, wearing a gray jacket.

He returned to his vehicle and a deputy is speaking with him now.

A caller to dispatch reports a male in front of Genesee Dental on Main Street in Downtown Batavia was observed drinking a half pint of alcohol and he is now "checking the doors, air boxing and doing pushups on the sidewalk." City police are responding.

Fire is reported at 415 E. Main St. in the City of Batavia. It is reported that the building is evacuated. City Fire Department is on scene. A Mercy ambulance is requested for a person suffering from possible smoke inhalation.

The location is between Bank and Wiard Ross and Vine streets.

UPDATE 11:15 p.m.: Medics are back in service with a patient sign-off.

A man on Cherry Street in the city called emergency dispatch to report that his neighbor "came onto his property and cut down his tree." The complainant wishes to speak with an officer, so one is en route.

A caller on East Main Street in Batavia reports the padlock on his bicycle is broken and "he's insisting that police have the tools to remove it," says a dispatcher. "He won't take no for an answer."

Batavia police just arrived at his location.

A larceny of several coats is reported at Dick's Sporting Goods in Towne Center at Batavia. A black female and male reportedly left the store with the merchandise, got into an unknown make vehicle, and left the parking lot in an unknown direction of travel.

Law enforcement is responding. The store employees are trying to get more information from the customer who allegedly spotted the larceny.

UPDATE 1:28 p.m.: The getaway car is reportedly a black four-door sedan; another person allegedly was driving the vehicle -- so there are three people involved. No clothing descriptions provided.

A larceny of tomatoes from a stand at the Downtown Batavia Public Market is reported.

A caller to dispatch reports the alleged tomato nabber is driving a silver SUV that is now in the drive-thru at Tonawanda Valley Federal Credit Union, adjacent to the outdoor market on Alva Place. Batavia police responding.

UPDATE 11:52 a.m.: It is said that the complainant is "not interested in pursuing (charges); they just want him advised that he's not welcome back here."

Somewhere in the city, Batavia police are responding to a complainant who called emergency dispatch after a having a verbal dispute with a neighbor about "children playing in the front yard."

City fire is called to respond to the report of a large bonfire at 243 S. Swan St.

The dispatch center has received numerous phone calls complaining of "significant traffic back up in the area of West Main and Woodrow Road due to all the road closures." City police are responding for traffic control.
