Kathleen (Katie) Marie Robinson, age 95, of Lake Pleasant NY passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at home. 
Katie was born December 31, 1925 in Amsterdam New York, the daughter of the late William Joseph and Anna Mae McCune. She grew up in Amsterdam, then settled and raised her family in Oakfield, NY and later retired to Lake Pleasant in the Adirondack Mountains. She resided with her daughter and son-in-law in Clinton Twp, NJ since 2015.

Katie attended The State University of New York College at Cortland, and later completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from Empire State College. Over the years she taught physical education in high school, was a substitute teacher and worked at summer camps for children with special needs.

Katie loved her retirement in the Adirondacks. She enjoyed many outdoor activities with friends and family including canoeing, cross- country skiing, swimming, and hiking. In her 80’s she won a cross- country skiing competition, laughingly telling everyone that she won as the only competitor in her age category. Her other interests that gave her great pleasure were sewing for herself and family, as well as gardening.
 
Her most profound sense of joy however came from knowing that her deep love of nature and of the Adirondack Mountains was passed along to her multi-generational family. This love of nature was one that she inherited and cherished from her own mountaineering father. 

She is survived by her son James Robert Robinson and his wife Lori of Corfu NY, and daughters Jolene Ann Robinson of Saranac Lake NY and Jeanne Marie Robinson and her husband Stephen Schacht of Clinton Twp. NJ. She was loved by her grandchildren: James Bristol Robinson and his wife Jill, Maggie Hoo Kim and her husband Jamie, Mitchell Robinson and his wife Rebecca, Anita Robinson, Samantha Zellinger, Geoffrey Schacht and his wife Jennifer, and Meghan Robinson-Schacht and her husband Sean O’Brien. She was blessed with ten great grandchildren: Beckett, Colden, Lilliana, Chloe, Porter, Finn, Biset, Kaitlynn, Maeve and Samuel. Katie was predeceased by two brothers Robert and William McCune, two sisters Elizabeth Slade and Marie Bell, and by one granddaughter Kellie Robinson.

A private gathering of family and friends will take place at a later date in New York. Arrangements were made by Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home in Lebanon, NJ.

East Bethany - Melody A. Davis, age 66, of East Bethany  passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Mel was born on December 22, 1954 on the Tonawanda Indian Reservation, a daughter of the late John Black, Sr. and Margaret Steeprock Black.

A lifetime member of the East Bethany Volunteer Fire Department, she served as the EMS Captain for the fire department for 10 years. An active member of the Genesee County EMS Council, Mel was the CPR instructor for the Red Cross, longtime sideline medic and first aide trainer for the Batavia Bulldawgs. You would always find her in the stands or on the sidelines at her grandsons sporting events

Melody is the wife of Francis J. Davis who passed away on May 26, 2016.

Surviving are her son; Jed (Jessica) Davis of Batavia; her grandsons; Cole and Andrew Davis; her brother-in-law; Edward (late Rita) Davis, Jr. of Arizona; her sister-in-law; Cathy (David) Van Galio of Buffalo; several nieces and nephews along with her lifelong friends; Lu Ann Henry, Ann Hausfelder, Vicki Magers and Peggy Johnson and Dan Adams, a close friend to Mel.

She is predeceased by her son, Benjamin J. Davis who passed away on January 29, 2001 and her brother, John Black, Jr.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, August 30th, 2021 from 4:00 pm  to 8:00 pm at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia, where members of the fire service community will gather at 8 pm . David P. Judge Jr., 50 of Attica, passed away on August 18, 2021 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. He was born April 5, 1971 in Lackawanna, to Kathryn (Darlak) Judge of Attica and the late David P. Judge Sr.

David was an avid outdoorsman that loved to hunt and fish. He will be missed dearly, especially by his mother.

Along with his mother he is survived by two daughters, Grace and Olivia Judge; siblings, Christopher (Heidi) Judge, Angel (Chad) McDonough, Joseph and Kurt Judge, along with 8 nieces.

There will be no prior calling hours and services will be private.

Veronica Mary Miller, age 89, died unexpectedly on Monday (August 16, 2021) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born on January 8, 1932, in Batavia, daughter of the late John Klein and the late Margaret (Winling) Klein.

She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, creating beaded artwork and spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Padre Pio Parish, St. Cecelia's Worship Site and was a graduate of Batavia High School. She and her husband, Richard, who preceded her in death, loved to travel and made many trips together during their nearly 60 years of marriage.

Mrs. Miller was also preceded in death by her brothers Joseph, Paul, William, Cornelius, Donald and Henry Klein; sisters, Cecilia Zackey, Eileen Amedick, Henrietta Imbrecht, Margaret Radice, Regina Redivivo and Helen Zorn; a sister-in-law Celia Klein, and two sons-in-law, Rick Hollabaugh and Rich Weeks.

She is survived by her 7 children: Jim (Kathy) Miller, Kathy (late Rick) Hollabaugh, Terry Maid, Carol (late Rich) Weeks, Karen Miller, Steve (Amy) Miller and Sue (Iain) Walker; 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law Bernice Klein and several nieces,  nephews and friends.

LeRoy ~ Mark E. Corcimiglia, age 57, of Hilltop Drive, passed away at home on Monday (August 16, 2021).

   

  He was born October 12, 1963 in Batavia, a son of Gale Hartman Corcimiglia and the late Joseph Corcimiglia Sr.

     Mark will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, a special dad and grandfather, brother, uncle and great friend to many.  He enjoyed weightlifting and working out.

     He is survived by his wife, Cathy Flick Corcimiglia; his sons, Zech (Jourdan) Corcimiglia and Josh (Nicole) Corcimiglia; his granddaughter, Jolie and soon to be grandchild; his mother, Gale Corcimiglia; his siblings, Joseph Corcimiglia Jr., Anthony Corcimiglia and Teresa (Dean) Pierce, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

     He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Corcimiglia Sr. in 2020.

LeRoy ~ James V. Sheridan, age 85, of St. Mark’s Street, passed away early Tuesday morning (August 17, 2021) at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

     He was born December 6, 1935 in Batavia, a son of the late Vincent and Helena Pree Sheridan.

     Jim was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and then went on to serve his country with the U S Army.  He will be remembered as very simple and loving brother, uncle and dear friend, who was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish and very devoted to his faith.  He enjoyed family gatherings and his annual trip to Virginia Beach.  Jim, who was also known as the “mayor” of St. Mark’s Street, was a lifetime member of the LeRoy Fire Department and the Western New York Fireman’s Association.

     He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews; Darlene (Robert) Penepent, Lewis (Ginger) Esten III, Theresa (Richard) Seiler, Charles Esten, Karen (Michael) Schad and Donna Esten; cousin, Donna (Robert) Powers, along with many dear friends.  He was predeceased by his sisters, Anna (Anthony) Marcello and Margaret (Lewis) Esten and niece, Mary Esten.

     A special thank you to all his neighbors on St. Mark’s Street for your kindness and friendship and to the staff at the LeRoy Village Green for their wonderful care of Uncle Jim.

Conway Thomas Magee,  87, passed peacefully into Heaven on August 7, 2021.

He was the son of the late Andrew and Ida (Kosinski) Magee. His siblings are Andrew Edward Magee and the late Beatrice Stone. Conway is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Joyce (Sutton) Magee and his children, Jennifer (William) Brado, Timothy and David (Angie) Magee."Grandpa Grinch" has six grandchildren; Robert Twichell, Sara (Tom) Luby, Elyse (Isiah Hernandez) Twichell, Lily, Lindsay and Aiden Magee. Also two great-grandchildren, Thomas Conway and Lucinda Ann Luby.

Conway earned a Masters degree from Canisius College and Buffalo State. He served as an educator for the Batavia City School District for 43 years as an art teacher and guidance counselor. As his grand-daughter, Elyse says, "He was the kindest, gentlest, most generous man I have ever known. " We will miss him always.

Batavia - Jacqulyn M. Jones, 50 of Batavia, passed away on Saturday, (August 14, 2021) at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

Ms. Jones was born May 7, 1971 in Ogdensburg, a daughter of the late Mary R. Jones.

Jackie attended the ARC of Genesee-Orleans Day Hab and was a member of the Northgate Free Methodist Church Friendship Class. She loved her family, especially her mom, and enjoyed all kinds of music, crafts, and dancing. Always the life of the party, she liked to socialize with friends often leaving a room and then coming back proclaiming "I'm Back!!!." Jackie truly loved to go grocery shopping, she was kind, and very brave.

She is free at last to delight in the joys of Heaven and enjoy fellowship with many loved ones already there.

Jacqulyn is survived by her brothers, Lee (Emily), Joshua, and Sheldon; a niece, Maggie; a nephew, "Baby" Lee; her Aunt Donna, Aunt Sharon and Uncle Carter, Aunt Debbie, and Aunt Bonnie; cousins, Chrissy, Adam, James, Karen, John, Amy, Becky, Candy, Katie, and Leon.

She is preceded in death by her mother, uncle, Carl Jones; aunt, Brandi Syfrit; cousin Michael Donovan; and good friend, Jason Tinklepaugh.

There will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held in Elmwood Cemetery in Batavia. A Celebration of Jacqulyn's life will be held in September and will be announced. Daryl John DiSalvo, 50 of Oakfield, passed away Saturday (August 14, 2021) at Erie County Medical Center, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 15, 1970 in Batavia, NY.

Daryl was a happy, loving, caring individual who loved reading, movies and sports. Daryl was previously employed by Oatka Milk Products in Batavia for over 23 years.

Survivors include his father, John J. (Barbara) DiSalvo of Warsaw. Companion, Diane Dole of Oakfield and her children who Daryl adored, Lance and Aeris Dole. Sisters Michelle Bowman of Florida, Lynn F. DiSalvo of Rochester and Jaime (Lonnie) Godat of Bergen. An aunt, Brenda (James) Pierce of Batavia. An uncle Anthony Cory of Akron and his furry friend, Lightning.  He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Daryl was predeceased by his aunt Antionette Cory, uncle Ignatius Edward DiSalvo, and nephew Caleb Bowman.

There will be no prior visitation and funeral services will be held privately with his family at a later date. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Batavia - After a long hard fought battle, Stephen Gilbert passed away on Thursday (August 12, 2021) while under hospice care at home with family by his side. His wife and main caregiver Cherri never left his side.

He leaves behind his wife, Cherri (Constas) Gilbert, six children, Michelle, Jay, Charles, Kyle, Alesha, and Melissa; eight grandchildren and a new great-granddaughter.

Steve was adopted by the late Rev. Gordon and Jean (Burkes) Gilbert when he was two years old and found humor in reminding his several siblings that he was “the chosen one.” Growing up, Steve was a practical prankster and loved to explore many different hobbies. He found his true passion in welding and worked for Pfaudler for over 40 years. He has always had strong family bonds far and near.

As much as he loved being a husband and father, he adored being a grandfather even more. He would always find a teaching moment in everything and usually with a dry sense of humor. Steve was known for putting others’ needs before his own. He has always been the rock of the family and will be dearly missed.

John G. Kindig, 63 of Batavia, passed away Friday (August 13, 2021) at the Erie County Medical Center.

He was born June 18, 1958 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, a son of Margaret Laidacker Kindig of Endicott, NY and the late William Kindig.

John had a strong faith and enjoyed his time at the First Presbyterian Church in Batavia. He found great joy in helping others and was passionate about the church's Alzheimer's Respite Program. He was an avid antique dealer and belonged right on American Pickers. John was a loving father and devoted his life to his children and family.

Survivors include his daughter, Alexis Kindig of Quincy, MA. Son, John W.D. Kindig of Batavia. Mother, Margaret Kindig. Sister, Kristine (Dennis) Sexton of Greene, NY and nieces Sarah and Sadie. 

Calling hours for those who wish to share their respects and memories of John will be held on Thursday, August 19th at 11 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 300 East Main St., Batavia, NY. Family and friends are cordially invited to share in a Memorial Service to follow at 12 PM.

Pamela Mae Whitcombe was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, friend and grandmother. Pam passed away on August 13, 2021 at the age of 73 after complications of a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis. Pam‘s love for life won't end with her passing. Her friends and family will continue her legacy of kindness and generosity by living their lives to the fullest, just as she did.

Pamela was born in Buffalo, New York on May 24,1948 to Fred and Gloria Allein of Batavia and was dearly loved by her grandparents Harold and Frieda Athoe, also of Batavia.

Throughout her childhood, Pam traveled the world; living with her family in Illinois, Germany, and California, where she graduated from Lompoc High School near Santa Barbara. After high school, she returned to Batavia and attended Genesee Community College to study English. When she completed her program, one of Pam’s "claim to fame" was that she was the first-ever graduate of Genesee Community College. Although this honor was unique, the most significant experience that shaped her life during these years was a chance encounter with a handsome and determined young man, David Whitcombe. Pam and Dave's courtship was one for the ages and the two were married on August 2,1969 at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in Batavia. Their beautiful love story set the bar for their three sons, Richard, Jeffery, and Ryan. Pam’s love for her family was unsurpassed and all-consuming. To say that they were the light of her life would be an understatement. She built a home filled with laughter, love, and warmth. This home was the "place to be" and she made everyone who visited feel like family. She was the ultimate nurturer and made sure that your belly and heart were full when you left her. Although Pam enjoyed loud, boisterous, and action-packed events with friends and family, one of Pam‘s greatest pleasures was to enjoy a Sunday dinner with her husband and boys. Each of the boys grew to become kind, thoughtful, and generous just like their mom. And just when Pam thought her life couldn’t get any better, she was blessed with four grandchildren who are a reflection of Pam‘s finest qualities- Andrew's sincerity and genuineness, Noah's compassionate heart, Cora's exuberant personality, and Charlotte who is the center of every room she is in, just like Pam.

In addition to raising a beautiful family with her husband, Pam was devoted to her community. She served as the first Student Government Secretary of Genesee Community College, was the Manager of the former Genesee Memorial Hospital Gift Shop, and was the owner and operator of The Clinton Street Greenhouse and served on numerous Boards and Committees.

All of us who knew and loved Pam have broken hearts but are able to find tremendous joy and comfort in the fact that we were blessed to be a part of her life, even if the time we had was not enough. She was an angel walking among us and changed the lives of everyone she met. 

Pam was predeceased by her father, Fred Allein and her son, Richard Whitcombe. She is survived by her mother, Gloria Allein, husband David Whitcombe, sons Jeffery (Shannon) Whitcombe, Ryan Whitcombe (fianceé Meghan Dwyer), daughter-in-law, Becky Whitcombe, sister, Gloria (Bob) Chapman, brother, James (Cheryl) Allein, her grandchildren, Andrew Whitcombe, Noah Whitcombe, Cora Whitcombe, Charlotte Whitcombe, her nieces and nephews, Brent (Judy) Chapman, Rebecca (Matt) Roggow, Robert (Molly) Chapman, Abby Allein, Alyssa Allein, Braden Allein and countless other beloved family and friends.

                                                                "I will love...you forever."

Richard M. Eliasz , 67 of Silver Springs/Silver Lake, passed away following an accident on Tuesday August 10, 2021 at his lake home.  He was born on December 18, 1953 in Rochester, New York to the late Joseph J. and Helen (Tarala) Eliasz. He is preceded in death by his parents, mother and father -in-law: Burdette and June Randall and sister-in-law: E. Sue Eliasz.

Rich was a graduate of Perry Central High School, SUNY Geneseo and received his Master’s degree in Education from SUNY Empire. He was a science teacher at Warsaw Central School, after retiring from Warsaw he was a long term substitute teacher at Letchworth Central.
Rich was a member of the First Congregational Church in Perry Center where he served as a Deacon. Additionally, Rich was active in the Silver Lake Association, The Wyoming County, Castile Village and Town planning boards, where he was essential in writing the Docking and Mooring laws that have been adopted by many municipalities throughout New York State. The Castile Library Board, Wyoming County American Cancer Association, Wooden Boat Society and the Artisan Guilds of Tin Smiths and Stained glass. He enjoyed working with his brother-in-law on his Maple Syrup Business, sailing on Silver Lake, riding his bicycle, doing crossword, listening to polka music, and family gatherings with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife: Jane A. (Randall) Eliasz whom he married on December 26, 1977, two daughters: Molly (Ed) Orman of Leicester, Maggie (Brian) Kulzer of Geneseo, brother: Robert Eliasz of Rochester, brother-in-laws: Norman (Sue) Randall of Castile, Eric (Eleanor) Randall of Alexander, 6 grandchildren: Bailey, Eliasz and Xavier Orman, Lilia, Oliver and Isaac Richard Kulzer, dear friend: Dan Saunders, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Fredrick Merritt White, 83, of Batavia and formerly Olcott, passed away November 19, 2020 at United Memorial Medical Center after a lengthy illness. 

He was born in Lockport, September 28, 1937, to the late Merritt White and Frances (White) Haight. 

Fred attended Michigan State, served in the Army, and then settled in Chicago, Ill. and Foxborough, Ma. before returning to the Lockport area in the early 70’s where he became associated with Paul Fox Auto Sales. This began his lifelong interest in the Retail and Wholesale Automobile Business, working in and with dealerships throughout Western NY as well as starting his own businesses.

Fred became a member of Olcott Yacht Club in 1975 was recognized as not only a dedicated sailor in OYC Club races as well as LYRA, South Shore and Youngstown Level Races, but also taught numerous people how to sail and race.  He was affectionately nicknamed “Fast Freddy” at OYC where he kept his various sailboats (Sunrise, Awesome, Cracker Jack and most recently Still Awesome).

Fred became an officer at OYC serving as Fleet Captain, Rear Commodore, Vice Commodore and Commodore several times over the forty plus years he was a member and also served on their Long Range Planning Committee and was one of the original organizers for their current Haulout and Storage Committee.

Fred is survived by his wife Kathy, his children Susan (Anne Casto) White of Columbus, Ohio and Mitchell White of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Step-children, Brian Havens of Batavia, and Jocelyn Sikorski of Alexander. Grandchildren David Arizosa, Jonathan and Donna White of Florida, Zack and Nick Casto of Ohio and Paige and Peyton Sikorski from Alexander, as well as former wife Janet Bagshaw of Canada and son-in-law Kevin Sikorksi of Attica. Sibings Sara Renna of Florida, Richard White of Virginia and Michael White in Washington state. Several nieces and nephews living throughout the country.

A Celebration of Life will be held August 21^st from 2:00-4:00pm at the Olcott Yacht Club, Water St, Olcott, NY 14126.

The family asks that any donations be made to OYC Mantle Club or OYC Junior Sailing (PO Box 715, Olcott, NY 14126) in his name.
