Kathleen A. (Rybarczyk) Mogavero, 62 of West Seneca, NY died August 29, 2010 at the Father Baker Manor in Orchard Park. Born July 3, 1948 in Buffalo, NY she is daughter of the late William J. (Harriet A. Marsh) Gohr. 

Mrs. Mogavero was a member of St. Gabriel’s Church. She graduated from Meyer Memorial Nursing School and practiced as a Registered Nurse at many hospitals in the Buffalo area before retiring from Health Care Plan in West Seneca. Preceded in death by her first husband Kenneth Rybarczyk. 

She is survived by her husband Charles M. Mogavero of West Seneca; son Scott (Melissa) Rybarczyk of Buffalo; daughter Lisa J. Rybarczyk of Buffalo; step-son Samuel (Kristie) Mogavero of Hamburg; step-daughter Janine (Brian) Wilson of IN; mothers-in-law Irene Piesczynski of West Seneca; Mary Mogavero of Batavia; she was the sister of Clayton (Carol) Gohr of Orchard Park; Carol (George) Dewald of Springville; the late Jean (Robert) Dippold, the late William (Josie) Gohr and the late Grant (Joyce) Gohr. 4 Grandchildren survive along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

The family will be present from 4 to 7:30PM with a memorial service to follow at 7:30 PM on Wednesday September 1, 2010 at the Paul A. Kloc Blossom Chapel, Inc., 4680 Clinton St. (corner of Borden Rd.) Josephine Emily Mager, 96, of Batavia died Sunday (August 29, 2010) at Genesee County Nursing Home.

She was born in Bethany Center on April 10, 1914 a daughter of the late Anthony and Anna Dyrbala Waclawski.

Her husband Frank Mager died in 1986.

Joseph was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed family gatherings and holidays.  Crocheting and making afghans for her children and grandchildren were her favorite past times.  In past years she worked for the former E.N. Rowell Box Factory and Kisiel Die Casting Co.  For many years she worked bingo and lawn fetes at Sacred Heart Church.   She was a volunteer at the Senior Center and Genesee County Nursing Home for over 20 years.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and the Apostleship of Prayer.   For numerous years she was the treasurer of the Altar and Rosary Society and a member of the National Assoc. of Retired Federal Employees.

Surviving are three daughers and two sons in law, Mary Lou (late James)  Klein of Batavia, Barbara and Richard Satkowski of Medina and Suzanne and Joseph Koziol of Batavia.  A son and daughter in law, Frank and Margie Mager of Alexander.  Ten grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren,  2 step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.  Her sister and brother in law, Joan and Ralph Torcello of Batavia.  A sister in law, Alfreda Waclawski of Virginia and a brother in law, Joseph Polec of Buffalo. 

She was the grandmother of the late Kathleen Mager and sister of the late, Helen Hunt, Julia Slusar, John Waclawski, Lt. Col. Walter Waclawski, Joseph Waclawski, Mary Dombroski, Sophie Adolph, Stella Kawacz and Frances Polec.

Friends and family may call Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM at the J. Leonard McAndrew Funeral Home, 2 Bogue Ave., Batavia.  Prayers will be Thursday at 8:45 AM at the J. Leonard McAndrew Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Chrsitian Burial at 9:30 AM at Ascension Parish (Sacred Heart Church).  Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Batavia - Mrs. Frances H. Slovick, 92, of Batavia, who worked in operations and programming at Doehler-Jarvis Division Of National Lead in Batavia for over 30 years, died Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the New York State Veteran's Home.

Mrs. Slovick was born December 21, 1917 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Frank and Wanda Stachowski Yasses.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Church and the Widow's group of the church. Mrs. Slovick also taught Data Processing at BOCES.

Her husband, John F. Slovick, died in 1975.

Survivors include three brothers, Frank (Lorraine) Yasses and Leonard Yasses, both of Batavia and Edwin (Mickey) Yasses of Stafford; three sisters, Genevieve Rudolph and Dolores Krantz, both of Batavia and Alice (Amelio) Taddei of Oakfield; several nieces and nephews including Laurie Hopkins, Sandra Hussar and Valerie Maher, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was a sister of the late Irene Bachulak, Alfreda Walton, Lorraine Maher, Theodore Yasses, and Henry Yasses.

There are no prior calling hours. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia. Entombment will be in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum. Batavia - Rocco J. Zinni, 42, of Batavia, an employee at Tops Markets for the past 8 years, died suddenly, Thursday, August 26, 2010in Batavia.

Mr. Zinni was born April 30, 1968 in Batavia, a son of the late Valentine and Joan A. (Walker) Zinni.

He was a member of Ascension Parish, St. Anthony's Church and was described as “a man of few words, with a loving heart.”

Surviving are his fiancé Roxane Vanelli of Batavia; a brother, Val (Shelly) Zinni of Batavia and a nephew, Valentino Rocco Zinni of Batavia.

He was the brother of the late Joseph Zinni.  

Private services will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crossroads House, P.O. Eleanor F. DeFilippo, 83, of Batavia died Wednesday (August 25, 2010) at United Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born in Batavia on February 21, 1927 a daughter of the late Stanley and Gladys Wisniewski Kisiel.

Her husband, Rocco (Zock) DeFilippo died on September 14, 1991.

Mrs. DeFilippo was retired from Falcone Electric where she was a secretary for many years.  She was formerly a secretary for R. E. Chapin Manufacturing  and the former Kisiel Die Casting Co.

She enjoyed being with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Cooking, cleaning, canning and solving crossword puzzles were some of her favorite past times.  She was a member of Ascension Parish and the Polish Falconettes.

Surviving are four daughters and three sons in law: Cheryl and John Slane, Sharon Eaton, Deborah and Joseph Caruso and Roxanne and Michael Schulte all of Batavia. Eight grandchildren: Megan and Maren Slane, Paul (Jodi) Avery, Allison (Edward) Foley, Kelly Bishop, Michelle (Vincenzo) Faletti, Richard Wagner and Dana Schulte.  Three great grandchildren: Gianna Jo and Sophia Marie Faletti and Jacey Lynn Wagner.  A sister, Wanda Pulvino and a brother Henry Kisiel both of Batavia.

She was the grandmother of the late Joeph Paul Caruso III and sister of the late: Helen Johnson, Mary Pcionek, Dorothy Kujawski, Cecil Kisiel and Stanley Kisiel.

Batavia - Mrs. Julia A. Burns, 90, a retired employee of the Richmond Memorial Library, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Crossroads House in Batavia.

Mrs. Burns was born October 16, 1919 in Olean, the daughter of the late Donato and Angelina Defemia Fontasia.

She was a member of and volunteered at the St. Jerome Guild, the Salvation Army and the Friends of Richmond Memorial Library.

Her husband, Edward W. Burns died in 1982. Survivors include two sons: Edward (Mary) Burns of Batavia and Patrick (Traci) Burns of Missouri; three daughters: Barbara (Peter) Corbelli of Batavia, Kathleen (Frank) Fear of Michigan and Jeanette (Buddy) Campbell of Orchard Park. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her extended family at Washington Towers.

Bergen - Barry R. Aradine, 50, of Bergen, a lifelong farmer, most recently at Torrey Farms in Elba, died Friday, August 20, 2010at his home, in Bergen surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Aradine was born July 2, 1960 in Batavia, a son of Robert (Jackie Toscano) Aradine of Bergen and Bonnie (Robert) Drews Behage of Ellenton, FL. He was the grandson of Virginia Drews of Byron.

He was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was a wonderful man who enjoyed the simple things in life and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was always a giver, never a taker. He loved his work, farming, snowmobiling, Saturday nights at the races with the 12B team, but most of all he loved his family. He was very loved by all whose lives he touched.  He will be dearly missed.

He was a member of Bergen United Methodist Church, Genesee Snow Packers and former member of the Future Farmers of America. He was a 1978 graduate of Byron Bergen High School.

Along with his parents, he is survived by his wife, Patricia (Zipfel) Aradine whom he married September 17, 1983; 2 sons, Brandon (Megan Mallaber) Aradine and Justin Aradine, both of Bergen, a special niece, Amy Herman of Warsaw; 2 brothers, Richard (Sharon) Aradine and Jeffrey (Liz) Aradine, both of Bergen; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Paul T. Hermann, 44 of Batavia, NY died August 16, 2010 in the Bahamas. Born May 13, 1966 in Rochester, New York he is son of the late Gustav Hermann and Mary (Shaffer) Hubbard of Batavia. Paul loved music, computers and golfing with his son Nicholas.

Survived by his wife Sheila (Falcheck) Hermann of Batavia; sons Kevin and Nicholas Hermann; step-son Steven Falcheck; daughter Stephanie Falcheck all of Batavia; grandson Dawson Hermann along with many aunts and uncles.

Elba - Mrs. Nancy J. Warner, 58, of Elba a 2nd grade teacher at Elba Central School, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010at Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester.

Mrs. Warner was born August 23, 1951 in Batavia, a daughter of Dorothy (Newcomb) Miller of Brockport and the late Jack Miller.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed music, computers and travel.

Her husband, James H. Warner, died in August of 1994.

Survivors include a son, Andrew Warner of Elba; a daughter, Beth (Paul) Colburn of Boston, MA; a brother, David (Jean) Miller of Bergen; several nieces and nephews and a great-nephew.

Batavia - Mr. William H. Young, 59, died unexpectedly Sunday, August 15, 2010 while on vacation with his family Ocean City, New Jersey.

Mr. Young was born April 18, 1951 in Patterson, New Jersey, the son of the late Frederick and Helen Young, who survives. 

A graduate of SUNY Cobleskill and Delaware Valley College he was employed by Upstate Niagara as the Supervisor of Membership Services. He was a member of the Batavia Rotary Club, the City of Batavia Republican Committee, past president of the NYS Sanitarians Association and the Batavia Area Jaycees, past vice-president of the Batavia City School Board, the United Way Board, Youth Bureau, city Zoning Board, and the city Safety Committee. He formerly taught Defensive Driving at GCC and was an instructor for the hunter’s safety program.

Along with his mother he is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carolyn Calarco Young; children; Christopher (Lauren) Young of Congers, NY, Jennifer (John) Reale and Julie (Jeff) Grover, both of East Syracuse; grandchildren; JJ Reale, Olivia Young and Lilly Grover. He was the brother of Bob Young and Linda (David) Macdonald, son-in-law of Lillian Calarco and brother-in-law of Sally Bywater, Terry (Bernard) Gabriele and Thomas Calarco. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

David was born in Warsaw on March 14, 1942. A son of the late John A. Cygan and Jane Schumacher Cygan of Perry. Mr. Cygan retired from the Union Laborers Local 435 in Rochester after 30 years of employment.He was a member of the Perry VFW, Vets Club, Dom Polski’s and the Silver Lake Sportmen’s Club, he enjoyed motorcycle riding, and hunting.

Survived by his children: John Cygan of Castile, Jeffrey Cygan of Perry, Melissa (Greg) Becker of Buffalo, and Jennifer Cygan of Pike, a sister: Donna (Doug) Austin of Mims, Fla., a brother: Anthony “Skeeter” (Patricia) Cygan of Willis, Tx., grandchildren: Cassidy Cygan, Tonya Cygan, Jessica Cygan, Katelyn Becker, Liam Becker, and Joslyn McMurtry, along with several nieces and nephews also survive. He is preceded in death by a brother: Daniel Cygan.

Kenneth A. Larsen, 63, of Corfu, died Monday (August 16, 2010) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY on Novenber 10, 1946 a son of the late Andrew and Marion Swensen Larson.

Mr. Larsen was a cable splicer for Verizon Communications for over 35 years prior to his retirement.  He graduated from Genesee Community College in 1993 and received a Bachelors Degree in Addiction Counseling from S.U.N.Y. Brockport.   He did addiction counseling at Brylyn Hospital in Alden, NY.  From 1965 to 1967 he served active duty with the US Navy in submarine service and later served with the US Coast Guard Reserves.  He always remarked how proud he was to be a veteran.  Following his retirement he worked as a floor attendan and supervisor at Batavia Downs Casino.  He was an avid HAM Radio Operator with the handle of N2JTZ.

Surviving is his wife of over 39 years, Sharon Thayer shom he married on November 25, 1970.  His children: Jennifer Fuller of Schuylerville, NY and Charles (Christina) Larsen of Oakfield.   A sister and brother in law, Judith and Denis Caysinger of Hilton, NY.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Bisig was born 79 years ago in Alexander, NY to the late Frederick and Reta (Ayrault) Kilby. She was the widow of Robert Bisig who died in 1993. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Marjorie loved to bake.

She is survived by her sons Paul (Linda) Bisig of Batavia, Allan Bisig of Warsaw and Brian (Mary) Bisig of LeRoy. Three brothers George Kilby of Michigan, Frank (Doris) Kilby of North Chili, Donald (Sharon) Kilby of Kennedy, NY; a brother in law John Pierce of Bethany Center, and a sister in law Dolores "Didy" Kilby of Arizona survive along with 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Leon Kilby, Millie Pierce and grandmother of the late Paul, Christopher and Kimberly Bisig.

Dorothy Alice Miller, 76, of Batavia died Friday (August 13, 2010) at United Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born in Java, NY on April 25, 1934, a daughter of the late William and Mabel Niver Rosborough.

She was the wife of the late LaVerne Miller.

Mrs. Miller was a cat lover and was retired from General Motors, Rochester Products in Rochester.

Surviving is a daughter and son in law, Debbie and Frederick Gravetter of Brockport.  Two sons and a daughter in law: Duane and Jennifer Miller of Attica  and David Miller of FL.  Seven grandchildren: Shannon and Ericka Miller, Dylan Teller, Megan Burke, Melissa (Nicolo) Monachino, Justin Gravetter, David Miller and Elisha Townsend.   Two sisters: Ruth Miller of Batavia and Mary Rose Silliman of Corfu.  A brother, William Rosborough Jr. of Batavia.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

James H. Dorman, 90 of Batavia, NY died August 13, 2010 at Genesee County Nursing Home in Batavia. Born April 28, 1920 in Batavia, NY son of the late Leo C. (Fanny Laramy) Dorman. 

Mr. Dorman was a lifelong self employed farmer, a 67 year member of the Elba Grange and life member of Godfrey’s Pond. 

Preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Genagon Dorman in 2005. 

Survived by his daughter Virginia (Edward) Adams of Bergen, NY, a son Robert (Kathy) Dorman of Batavia, brother Earl (Suzanne) Dorman of Batavia. 2 Grandchildren Kathy (Chad) McLaughlin of Bergen, Heather (Jason) Wilder of Churchville, 3 great grandchildren Isabella and Willow Wilder and Anna McLaughlin survive along with nieces and nephews.
