A five-vehicle accident is reported on the Thruway in the area of mile marker 385.9 in the westbound lane.

Minor injuries are reported but traffic is blocked.

A car has reportedly hit a child on a bike in the area of M&T Bank, 9133 Oak Orchard Road, Elba.

Unknown injuries.

Elba fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 11:17 a.m.: Elba chief on scene says all responding units can stand by in quarters. 

UPDATE 1:09 p.m.: A reader conducted us to say a child was not involved but she was not a witness. We called Elba Chief Mike Heale who responded to the call. He said a passerby called dispatch. He said he was at the scene within seconds of the dispatch and there was nobody -- no patient, no vehicle -- at the scene, so the call was canceled.

A semi-truck has come off the Thruway and landed on Route 5 in Pembroke and overturned.

One person was pinned by the trailer.

Mercy Flight is requested to the scene

Pembroke fire and Indian Falls fire dispatched and East Pembroke requested to scene to assist with a landing zone.

All responding units requested to park on the east side of the overpass or under the bridge because of the lack of a guard rail on the Thruway.

UPDATE 7 a.m.: The driver of a semi-truck on the Thruway may have fallen asleep before the truck struck a guard rail and flew off the Route 5 overpass landing on the roadway below. No other vehicles were involved. The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to ECMC by Mercy EMS. A female passenger suffered leg injuries, and possibly other injuries, and was flown to ECMC by Mercy Flight. There were two dogs in the truck. One was located and taken to the animal shelter where it was given a bath to clean off diesel fuel. The dog appears to be in good health. The other dog is missing. The accident is under investigation by troopers from Troop T. There was nobody pinned under the trailer as initially reported. The woman was trapped in the cab of the truck and was being tended to by the male driver when firefighters arrived on the scene. There was a lengthy extrication process by volunteer firefighters. Route 5 is expected to be closed at least through noon.

UPDATE 8:50 a.m.: Pembroke's interim chief reports the second dog is in custody and uninjured. The dog was spotted on Route 5 and when first responders tried to corral him, he ran onto the Thruway. Somebody on the Thruway was able to catch him before he was harmed and an animal control officer is in route to pick him up and take him to the shelter.

A car has reportedly rear-ended a semi-truck on Ellicott Street at Liberty Street in the City of Batavia.

Unknown injuries.

City fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 10:58 p.m.: No injuries. The truck driver said he stopped at the intersection for a red light.

A two-car accident with serious injuries is reported on Route 20 at Harlow Road, Darien, is reported.

One person may be lying in the roadway.

A third ambulance is requested to the scene.

Darien fire and ambulance were dispatched.

UPDATE 10:52 p.m.: Entrapment reported.

UPDATE 11 p.m.: Mercy Flight dispatched.

UPDATE 11:50 p.m. (via Alecia Kaus/Video News Service, at the scene): A vehicle with four young women (ages 18 to 20) from Pennsylvania was southbound on Harlow Road when the driver allegedly ran a stop sign and crossed into Route 20 where it was struck by a westbound Jeep. The male driver and three female occupants of the Jeep are from Jamestown. The driver of the southbound car was taken by Mercy Flight to ECMC. The front passenger was taken by ground ambulance to ECMC, as were the four occupants of the Jeep. The backseat passengers of the southbound car were wearing seatbelts and were uninjured. A driver was ticketed for alleged failure to yield the right of way leading to an accident at Lewiston and West Main, Batavia, at 3 p.m. yesterday.

Sharon J. Benty, 73, of Weber Avenue, Oakfield, told Deputy Mathew Clor, who wrote the accident reports, "I had a green light and I thought she would slow down when she saw me."

Benty, according to the report, was driving a 2013 Toyota sedan east on Route 5 when she attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Lewiston Road.

Anna Jane Molnar, 19, of Phelps Road, Corfu, was driving a 1997 Ford sedan was heading west on Route 5. 

According to Clor's report, Benty turned in front of Molnar, who had the right of way.

Benty, Molnar, and Molnar's passenger, 23-year-old Austin T. Geist, all suffered minor injuries and were transported to UMMC for evaluation.

Town of Batavia fire and Mercy EMS assisted at the scene.

A two-car accident is reported at Broadway Road (Route 20) and East Road, Bethany.

One caller reports one serious injury and everybody else is just shaken up.

The road is blocked and Pavilion is requested to Texaco Town to shutdown traffic.

Distracted driving is the suspected cause of a fatal accident at 12:15 this afternoon after a tan 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis sedan slammed into the side of a trailer being hauled by a semi-truck at Route 63 and Route 19 in Pavilion.

The 81-year-old driver of the sedan, Robert G. Daniels, of Warsaw, who deputies believe ran a red light, was pronounced dead at the scene by GC Coroner Tom Douglas.

The driver of the semi-truck, 69-year-old Michael D. Dunn, who had the right-of-way, was uninjured. He is from Prescott, Ontario, Canada, and was driving a 2019 International semi with an empty 2019 Manac trailer northbound on Route 63.

According to a Genesee County Sheriff's Office press release, the investigation continues as to the reason why Daniels failed to stop at the red traffic signal while he was traveling on southbound on Route 19. He struck the passenger side of the trailer.

The accident was investigated by GC Sheriff's Deputy Kevin Forsyth. Assisting at the scene were Sgt. Andrew Hale, Deputy Chris Erion, Investigator James Diehl, the GC Sheriff's Office Crash Management Team members Sgt. Jason Saile and Deputy Richard Schildwaster, Trooper Matt Luft with the NYSP Commerical Vehicle Enforcement Unit, amd members of the Town of Pavilion Fire Department.

A two-vehicle accident, with one vehicle in a ditch and one car blocking is reported at Alleghany Road and Sumner Road, Darien.

Darien fire and Darien ambulance responding.

There are six patients -- so far no serious injuries reported -- so two ambulances required.

UPDATE 4:30 p.m.: Alexander fire's ambulance requested to the scene.

UPDATE 4:49 p.m.: One patient is being transported to ECMC. One patient is a sign-off. Three are refusals.

A two-vehicle accident is reported at Main Road and Alleghany Road, Pembroke.

There are potentially as many as five patients and there is entrapment. 

Corfu fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 12:38 p.m.: Pembroke fire and Indian Falls fire also responding. The intersection is blocked.

UPDATE 12:43 p.m.: Injuries to the person trapped in the vehicle do not appear to be serious, according to a first responder on scene.

UPDATE 12:44 p.m.: Darien's ambulance requested to the scene.

UPDATE 12:46 p.m.: A young child has bruises, abrasions and cuts.

UPDATE 12:58 p.m.: The patient has been extricated.

UPDATE 1:13 p.m.: The road has reopened.

A truck driver with 40,000 pounds in beets in his trailer thought he could make it under a railroad overpass on Griswold Road at 8:30 this morning.

According to Deputy Chris Erion, the driver was following GPS but the address he was going to was the billing address on the manifest, not the shipping address, which is on Transit Road.

Griswold was closed for several hours as a result of the accident.

UPDATE 6:06 p.m.: Griswold Road has reopened.

A truck reportedly tried to go under the railroad bridge in the area of 5757 Griswold Road, Stafford, struck the bridge, and is now stuck.

A two-vehicle collision with injuries, and blocking traffic, is reported in Stafford at 9710 Transit Road.

The location is between East Bethany - Le Roy Road and Wescott Road. Stafford and Bethany fire departments are responding, along with Mercy medics and law enforcement.

UPDATE 3:06 p.m.: The roadway is completely blocked. One patient has minor injuries and needs to be evaluated by medics. One vehicle is disabled and a tow is called.

UPDATE 3:12 p.m.: Northbound traffic on Transit Road will be stopped at East Bethany - Le Roy Road. One patient refused medical aid.

UPDATE 3:16 p.m.: Dan's Towing is sending two tows to the scene.

A 49-year-old Le Roy woman died Tuesday after suffering serious injuries in a motor-vehicle accident on Route 20 in Pavilion on Monday.

Holly C. Neuffer was driving a 2010 Nissan Murano westbound on Route 20, according to the Sheriff's Office, when she failed to negotiate a curve in the road and went off the north shoulder. The Nissan struck a tree head on in the vicinity of 7550 Route 20 at 3:35 p.m.

Neuffer was transported by Le Roy Ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital.

A medical examination will be required to determine whether Neuffer died as a result of her injuries or from another medical condition.

The crash remains under investigation. Conducting the investigation are Chief Deputy Brian Frieday, Sgt. Andrew Hale, Investigator James Diehl, Deputy Ryan DeLong, and Deputy Robert Henning.

Assisting at the scene where the Le Roy Fire Department, Pavilion Fire Department, Mercy EMS, and State troopers.
