Adam Hildebrant, 30, of Dawsonville, Ga., formerly of Batavia, NY, passed away suddenly on Oct. 19, 2020.

Adam was born on July 29, 1990 in Medina, NY, to Penny (Stiver) and the last Douglas Hildebrant. Adam was full of life and loved by everyone he met. He would do anything for anyone and had a heart of gold.

He loved to fish and take nature walks when he got the chance. His sarcastic charm and love of life will be missed by everyone.

Adam was predeceased by: his father, Doug; his paternal grandparents, Clair and Martha Hildebrant; his aunts Linda Roll and Pauline Hildebrant; as well as his uncle Darell Roll.

He is survived by: his mother, Penny Hildebrant; maternal grandparents Raymond and Betty Stiver; uncles Bruce (Kerry) Stiver; Barney (Phyllis) Hildebrant and Steven Hildebrant; siblings Stephanie (Hildebrant) Bedard, Erich (Amanda) Hildebrant, and Madeline Lancerio; nieces and nephews Joseph, Jacob, Jocelyn and Justine Bedard, Arianna and Gillian Hildebrant; as well as cousins Tori (Michael) Taddonio and Laci Stiver.

Marie Mast, 59 of Attica, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo. She was born February 21, 1961 to Daniel (Fran) Mast of Blasdell and the late Shirley (Kaufman) Mast. She is preceded in death by brother Douglas Mast, sister Deborah (Dave) Gangler, brother-in-law Jerry Keene.

Marie is survived by her loving siblings, Daniel (Carol) Mast of Pembroke; Ronald (Eileen) Mast of Attica; Thomas Mast of Attica; Sharon Keene of Pembroke; Darlene Westermier of Attica; Scott (Erin) Mast of Attica; along with aunts, uncles, many nieces and nephews.

Timothy Raymond Burke, of East Aurora, N.Y., was born January 6, 1946 in Buffalo, N.Y. to the late Buffalo Evening News reporter and columnist Richard J. “Dick” Burke and Josephine (Battaglia), and died there November 5, 2020, after a long illness. He graduated from Sweet Home H.S., in Amherst, N.Y., in 1964. While a nursing student at Craig Colony School of Nursing in Sonyea, N.Y., he met his future wife Miss Beverly J. Mayer, of Attica, N.Y., whom he married in 1968.

Burke received his Ph.D. in Experimental Pathology from the University at Buffalo and Roswell Park Cancer Institute. He conducted cancer research in the Radiology Dept. at Roswell and in the Immunology Dept. of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Subsequently Dr. Burke left the medical field to follow his lifelong passion for diving and boating on Lake Erie.

A member of the Merchant Marine for many years, Dr. Burke founded Underwater Services, Inc., a salvage and marine service provider, and built two commercial marine vessels—the Adrian B. I and Adrian B. II – both named after his only son. In the early 1980s he became the Buffalo port representative and a captain for the Great Lakes Towing Co., providing towing services to commercial freighters in fresh and saltwater ports across the country.  He published a children’s picture book about his experiences on Lake Erie titled, Tugboats in Action (Albert Whitman & Co., 1993).

With his wife he operated Sunny Slope Farm, a small horse stable on Porterville Road in East Aurora from 1991 until 2004 and retired in 1998.

An avid reader and canine enthusiast – Burke loved Jack London’s collected works, in particular White Fang, and at one time owned eight Siberian Huskies and drove a dog sledding team.

Dr. Burke is survived by his son, Adrian (Wilian) Moreira da Silva-Burke, Esq., of East Aurora and N.Y., N.Y., his ex-wife, Beverly J. Barbara E. Ferrando, 49 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (November 3, 2020) at Unity Hospital in Rochester, NY.

She was born August 25, 1971 in Batavia, NY, a daughter of Eileen Miller Tuttle of Corfu and Joseph Ferrando Jr. of LeRoy.

Barbara was an accomplished musician all of her life and could light up a room with her smile and laughter. She had a passion for music and was involved with various bands in the region. She was a lover of cats and had a passion for her two feline friends, Pepe and Polly.

Survivors include her mother, Eileen (James) Tuttle of Corfu. Father, Joseph Ferrando Jr. of LeRoy. Brother, Joseph Ferrando III of Batavia. Step-brothers, Robert D. Tuttle of Virginia and Geoffrey J. Tuttle of Bergen. Fiancé, Richard Burdick of Batavia.

We’re sad to share that Hans Moeller, 93, passed away peacefully in his Attica home on October 31, 2020, with his bride of 70 years, Rosie, at his side. He will be celebrated as our beloved watchmaker, jeweler, skier, accordion player, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all he met.    

Born on December 22, 1926 in Nuremberg, Germany, Hans had a full and joyful life that included unique experiences, challenging hardships, and remarkable journeys.  Hans met his bride-to-be early in life in their hometown and they dated before he was called to war. Despite being seperated and losing all their belongings, Hans and Rosie were reunited and married. Their American dream began when they were invited by a distant cousin who told them “Attica needs a good watchmaker.” They came by ship and arrived with a single trunk, the contents of which did not survive the ocean journey. 

Upon arrival in America, Hans' watchmaking aspirations were delayed while he proudly served in the Korean War as an optics specialist until he was honorably discharged due to tuberculosis. Ironic to current times, he found himself quarantined at the VA hospital for 2 years. With a wife to support, the hospital graciously allowed him to practice his watchmaking skills from his room.  It didn't take long for word of Hans' talents to get out and once he was discharged, he and his wife Rosie opened their small shop in Attica which soon became known in Western NY as "Hans Moeller's Jewelers."

Hans and Rosie started a family and raised their children while their business and circle of friends continued to grow and prosper.  Through all that he endured, Hans lived a life of happiness, gratitude, and joy. Hans was gentle, kind, and made sure to entertain all with his accordion, yodels, and stories wherever he went.  Continuing to ski until the age of 85, his accordion has graced ski slopes and airplane aisles from Colorado to the Alps.     

At the age of 62, Hans retired but continued to work part time and repair watches in his home until his eyesight became problematic at the age of 90.  Bill Hardie continues to carry on his legacy at Hans Moeller's Jewelers to this day.  How ironic was it that we lost our beloved watchmaker the day we needed to change our clocks?

Hans was a remarkable man with a life larger than can be conveyed through these words. He overcame adversity and maintained a positive outlook on life that he has passed down to his children, grandchildren, and all who were lucky enough to know him. Hans is survived by his bride Rosemarie, daughter Sue and Steve Mazmanian, son Bob and Vicki Moeller, and grandchildren Rick and Erica Moeller.

Hans was proud to be a member of the American Legion Harder-O'donnell Post 734 and a 65-year member of the Attica Lions Club, where of course his favorite event was the annual German Fest.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to:

  Wanda L. Jones age 76, of Perry, NY passed away on Tuesday November 3, 2020 at her home. She was born in Warsaw, NY on May 19, 1944 a daughter to the late Arthur and Lorene Virginia (McCarty) Shelter.

Wanda worked many years for Archway Cookies in Perry. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially with her grandchildren.  She is survived by her 4 children: Ronald A. Jones of Gainesville, Peggy A. Jones of Perry, Randy (Linda) Jones of Dallas, Georgia and Gary M. Jones of Warsaw, a sister: Norma Monteleone of Warsaw, 2 step-sisters: Kathy Slack of Dansville, Frances “Frannie” McGee of Dansville, 2 step-brothers: David Dale of Dansville, Harold (Beverly) Dale of Dansville, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

  Rebecca Sue Spink, 79 of Attica, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Monday, November 2, 2020 at her home. She was born October 22, 1941 in Ishpeming, MI to the late John F. Larson and the late Lois C. Marshall Larson.

Sue graduated high school from Mynderse Academy in 1959, followed by a teaching degree from Cortland College in 1963.  She taught in Horseheads and Alexander while raising her 6 children.  In the 1980’s she started on Fairlands Dolls and Antiques.  Through the years she became an authority on rare dolls and collected many herself as well as many beautiful friends along the way.  She belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution and multiple doll clubs.  She loved time with family and her dogs, playing cards, watching the Bills games and looking at her birds outside her kitchen door.  She enjoyed golf for many years and shot a hole in one at Quiet Times!  She received a lung transplant in 2005 and a kidney from her daughter, Marcia, in 2012, which allowed her many more years to spend with those she loved.  The family would like to thank the many doctors who helped her along her journey.

Sue is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Dr. Harry “Bud” Spink of Attica; children, Cheryl (Kevin) Grover of Attica; Christina (Edison) Spink-Formanski of Alden; John (Sara) Spink of Attica; Marcia (Robert) Austen of Avon; Sarah Spink of Castile; Melissa (Christopher Beck) Spink of Attica; sister Robin Rohrer of Canandaigua; 13 grandchildren, Victoria, Genevieve, Hayden Grover; Gabriel and Isabella Formanski; Liam and  Emma Spink; Kyra and Logan Austen; Grace and Samuel Miller; Aubrey and Tessa Hazzard; great-grandchild Harlan Doll; dogs Oscar and Fritz; along with many nieces and nephews.

Dolores A. Cecere - Batavia/Morrisville age 88, passed to a new life early morning Oct. 31, 2020 at Crouse Community Center in Morrisville, NY.  She was born Jan. 14,1932 in Batavia NY where she was raised by her parents, Norris and Arlie Seward.  She attended and graduated from Batavia public schools. Dolores, or better known as “Dee”, was predeceased by her husband John J. Cecere with whom she raised four children. She is also predeceased by her brother James Seward and long time partner Gerald Crowley with whom she enjoyed being a “snowbird” in Largo, Fla. for many years.

She was employed by the New York School for the Blind in Batavia, NY where she cared for the residents cooking their meals and extending her love to them.  She traveled with a co-worker from there to Spain which was a trip of a lifetime for her.  In Fla. she cared for both parents for many years until their passing.  Dee also set up a small thrift shop in Fla. called “Dee’s Folly”, and also worked at a local preschool. Dolores will be remembered for her love for her family, spirited personality, quick-wittedness and generous heart. She was a dear friend to many and if there was a Hall of Fame for friendship she would surely be in it.  She especially enjoyed her friendship with her Cayuga Lake neighbors, Betty and Bob with whom she and Jerry enjoyed many late afternoon “happy hours”, card playing, and boating. She loved the times she had with her grandchildren and was deeply loved by them.  Dee also enjoyed cake decorating, crocheting, knitting, entertaining friends and family and cooking.  Very much the life of the party, she was known for her outfits and matching earrings up to her final last two years.  Being a formidable card player she also loved to play Rummikub with her children and grandchildren and usually kicked our butts. Dee loved to dance and was known to “kick up her heels” dancing up until her last two years as she struggled with dementia and mobility.  She bravely navigated her last six years with loving support from her nearby daughters Pauline and Judy.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Pauline Cecere (Paul Silverstein) of Cazenovia NY,  Judy Krisher-Bussone (John) of Dewitt, NY,  John Cecere (Julie) of Woodstock, GA and Douglas Cecere of Leroy, NY;  grandchildren Jesse Krisher (Lyndsay),  Emma Krisher (Jaryd), Jillian Maldonado (Bart), and Justine Lemmo (Joseph); eight beautiful great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Dee is also survived by two dedicated loving brothers Douglas Seward (Yvonne) of Fla. and William (Cal) Seward (Kitty) of Texas. A special thanks to The Heritage for their care while “DeeDee” resided there.  Also a very big thank you to the staff at Crouse Community Center for their excellent, loving, attentive care.  Thanks to many caretakers who helped along the way. LeRoy - Sharon A. Frost, 76, of Genesee Street, passed away Sunday evening (October 25, 2020) at United Memorial Medical Center in the loving presence of her family.

    

 She was born December 20, 1943 to the late Walter and Dorothy Miller Frost.

     Sharon will be remembered as a caring and generous sister, aunt, and friend. Her quick wit was unmatched.  She treasured time with her family, friends, and all of her feline companions through the years.  She could often be found solving a sudoku puzzle or watching the Today Show, Price is Right, Ellen, and Jimmy Fallon.  She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and was thrilled to watch them win the Super Bowl last season.  She was active with the LeRoy-Stafford Senior Citizens, American Red Cross Blood Drives, and Board of Elections. She retired from Rochester Midland Corporation.

     She will be sadly missed by her devoted sister Sheila Furr of LeRoy; her loving nieces, Betsy (Dave) Overacker of LeRoy and Lisa (John) Mizro of Auburn; her beloved “grands” Emily and Erin Overacker, Jacob Morin, and Luke and Kolby Mizro; her sister-in-law Elaine Frost of Auburn; her sweet feline companions Georgie and Tony; many cousins and dear friends, especially longtime friend Patty Ferrarese, her Class of ‘61 girls, her RMC crew, and Ellen Napiorski, who did so much for Sharon over the last several years.

     In addition to her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her brother Daniel Frost, nephew Thomas Furr, brother-in-law Laney Furr, and dear friend Ruby Itkin.

John M. Quincey, 80, of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at his home in Batavia under the care of his loving family.

John was born Saturday, August 31, 1940 in Rochester, NY a son of the late James E. and Lucille (Favreau) Quincey. He graduated high school from Churchville-Chili Central in Churchville, NY in 1958. He later graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a BA in Business by attending night school.

From a humble beginning, John worked hard and became an internationally-recognized self-made entrepreneur.  In 1998, John took over as owner of Oliver's Candies in Batavia.  Prior to acquiring the ownership of Olivers, John owned DocuCenter in Batavia and BOK Plastics in LeRoy.

John was on the board for Chapin Manufacturing and Liberty Pumps.  He was instrumental in starting the Business Education Alliance, where he was their first board chair.  John was heavily involved with the UMMC Capital Campaign and was the Campaign Chair for Health of Our People and Our Community raising over four million dollars within two years. The campaign helped with the hospital expansion along with extensive renovations of the Emergency Department.  He was respected by his peers and made many lifelong friends throughout his career.

John loved to play golf and tennis, travel and spend time with his family. He also enjoyed his Saturday morning men's coffee club and will be remembered for living life to the fullest, especially with a glass of red wine.

Surviving are his wife, Sheila Quincey of Batavia; daughters,  Lana (Gary) Cotsonas of Homosassa, Florida, Kimberly Quincey of Dade City, Florida and Ashley (Jason) Mlyniec of Rochester; step-sons, Christopher (Valerie) Liles of Byron and Jeremy (Sandy) Liles of Batavia; a sister, Patricia Hurd of Florida; grandchildren, Kevin Liles, Samantha Staub, Harley Dorman, Talon Gauthier, Jesse Young, Trinity Liles, Tahlia Liles, Nathaniel Mlyniec, Alana Mlyniec and Kyle Mlyniec; great-grandchildren, Madison Liles, Haydin Gauthier, Jayce Gauthier, Camdin Gauthier and Ayla Davila and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Quincey and Richard Quincey.

Batavia - Allan N. Parkhurst, age 88, passed away suddenly while with his family on October 28^th, 2020.  He was born in Corry, PA on November 22, 1931 to Norman and Altha Falker Parkhurst.  Allan worked with his father at an early age learning the

plumbing trade at W.G. Maney in Batavia.  In 1972, Allan retired from the US Air Force after more than 24 years of service working in the military police.  After retirement, he opened the police section at the Batavia VA Hospital and eventually became a pipefitter there.  Allan’s second retirement concluded with over 35 years of federal service.  Allan was very passionate about work and continued working for many years as a school bus driver and at Reinhart Enterprises before finally retiring, well into his 70s. 

Allan enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  As an avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting, boating, hobby farming, and just spending time out on his property over the years.  Dancing was also one of his favorite pastimes.  While serving his country, Allan enjoyed being able to travel and live in many places all over the world with his family.  Allan’s good nature and humor, sometimes creating his own “sayings”, was his way of making others smile.

Allan was predeceased by his brother, Merle S. Parkhurst, who passed away in 2018 at age 88.  He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dolores A. Wojtas Parkhurst of Batavia, NY; daughter, Cheryl (Charles III) Andre of Bethany, NY; son, Bob A. (Wildeana) Parkhurst of Batavia, NY; grandchildren, Charles IV (Laura), Christina (Ryan), and Matthew (Arianna) Andre; Bob A. Jr. and Brice A. Parkhurst; great-grandchildren, Linus and Elizabeth Andre.  Allan was a very devoted husband, father, & grandfather.

Brinda C. Allen, 77 of Batavia, died on Friday, October 30, 2020 at United Memorial Medical Center after a short illness (not Covid-19). She was born on July 22, 1943 in Bristol, TN to the late James P. Childress and Elizabeth Fox Childress. She is predeceased by her husband; David V. Allen who died on September 23, 2007; great-grandson Kaleb Cere.  

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, loving friend to all who knew her. She owned The Hobby Hut in Attica. Brinda was involved with her husband in REACT, enjoyed spending time with family, bowling, traveling, crafts, sewing, and crocheting. She formerly resided at the Manor House where she was involved in Knit it Forward, making crochet squares and afghans for Roswell Hospital.

She is survived by her children; Susan (Del) Howard whom she resided with, Stephanie Laskowski, Tim Allen, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, close friends Judy Robinson and Wilma Meyers.

Mesa, Arizona - Eric  Anthony  Easton, 37 of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Basom, New York, passed away most tragically on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 as a result of injuries sustained in an accident.

Eric was born September 11, 1983 in Batavia, a son of Gerald Easton and Bernadette Corbelli Easton of Basom. 

Eric was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting and riding his dirtbike.

Surviving along with his parents are his brother; Shawn (Nicole) Easton of Byron; his niece; Whitley Easton of Byron; his grandfather; Wilbur (late Julia) Easton of Oakfield; several aunts and uncles including Kathleen Corbelli of Mesa, Arizona with whom Eric was living with. Eric is also survived by several cousins.

There are no prior visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date at St. Padre Pio Parish-Oakfield Worship Site, 56 Maple Avenue, Oakfield.   Barbara A. Rynkowski, 79, of Batavia passed away on Thursday October 29, 2020 at the United Memorial Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on August 6, 1941 in Hume, NY to the late Frank and Grace (Voss) Milliman. In addition to her parents, Barbara is predeceased by her husband; Alfred Rynkowski; daughter Cynthia Ann Rynkowski and step-son Stephen Rynkowski; siblings Wilma Ikeler and William Cole.

Barbara was a graduate of Corfu High School class of 1959.  She enjoyed going to the movies, crossword puzzles, scratch offs, and spending time and cuddling with her beloved cat, Izzy.

She is survived by her children; Gary Rynkowski; Cathe Rynkowski; step-son Timothy Rynkowski;  brothers Floyd (Lilly) Milliman , Stephen (Sharon) Milliman and Donald Milliman, along with several nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Barbara will be laid to rest in Grandview Cemetery.

David John Saleh passed into new life Oct. 29, 2020, after cancer. David leaves a family and a community that will miss his love, dedication, generosity and warmth. David’s dedication to his large, Saleh/Abdella Lebanese family and community was the hallmark of his 67-year life. One of the lessons that David taught throughout his life was that one’s moral and spiritual strength can be shared to help others become stronger themselves.

He began his formal education at St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, where he graduated with honors. Since that wasn’t enough, he also graduated with honors from The University at Buffalo. His string of honors recognition continued still, through Law School at UB, where he was also the Editor of the Law Review.

After moving to Corfu, NY to raise a family and practice law, David became a leading member and mentor of the community. David acted as a leader in the legal community of Genesee County in all aspects of law. In addition to serving as president of the Genesee County Bar, he was a delegate to State Judicial Nominating Committee for over 35 years. For the past year, David served as a part time City Court Judge in Batavia, NY. In addition to his legal work David was an integral part of the Enlighten family, serving as General Counsel and Vice President of New Business Ventures for over 17 years.

David supported his community in a variety of important ways. He was a Eucharistic Minister, lector and parish council at his local Catholic church; as well as a visiting minister and Chaplin of the Erie County Correctional Facility; he was a 40-year member of the Lions Club, serving three terms as president; he served as a volunteer firefighter in Corfu for 44 years and assumed several leadership positions there; he coached the Pembroke High School Mock Trial Team; was a longtime member of the local Grange; served as president and director of the Corfu Free Library; was a past director and treasurer of the St. Jerome Hospital Foundation; and served his alma mater as the President of UB Alumni Association.

By donating his body to the University of Buffalo Medical School, David found an important way to give back even in death.

As a lifelong Western New Yorker, David was also a lifelong fan of the Yankees and the Bills, learning from both victory and defeat, respectively. All who knew David knew that he had an in-depth analysis of what was going right and how the general managers could make improvements. If only they had listened … four Super Bowls wins would be ours … and at least three more World Series trophies.

David was predeceased by his parents Donald and Joan Saleh of Buffalo, NY.

David is survived by: his wife of 44 years Elizabeth (Liz) Abdella Saleh; his four children Anthony (Kate Sixt), Amy (Nick Peterson), Andrew (Amanda), Anne (Thomas Lisle); his grandchildren, Alexandria, Augustus, Elias, Eblena, Jude, Jonah and Janette; 11 brothers and sisters, Thomas, Dolores, Donald, George, Barbara, Mary, Charles, Margaret, Gloria, Edward and James; over 90 nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and brothers and sisters-in-law.

This large extended family grieves together and mourns the loss of a family member who was always there to help them in any way.

A Celebration of Life will be planned at a date to be determined where the entire community will be welcomed, once large gatherings are permitted.

David, we LOVE YOU as a wonderful husband, father, Jido (Arabic word for grandfather), brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend. You will be in our lives forever.
