Jean L. Claud, 70, of Perry died on Wednesday April 8, 2015 at her home.She was born in Buffalo, New York on May 7, 1944 to the late Adelbert (Agnes Armour) Kelly. She is preceded in death by her husband Elwood “Al” who died in 2013and sister Jackie Schroeder who died in 2014.

Jean retired from the former Champion Product in Perry. She was a member of the Perry VFW and Vets Club in Perry. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially with her grandchildren.

She is survived by 3 daughters Lisa (Kenny) Safford, Jody (Michael) Clark and Carol (Travis Fuller) Claud; son Brian Claud all of Perry; brother James (Cheryl) Kelly of Perry; brother-in-law Richard Schroeder of Castile; 6 grandchildren Cassandra (Zach) Rice, Ryan (Nicole) Clark, Mitchell and Patrick Claud, Craig Safford, and Cory Dillon; great-grandson Lucas Rice, her best friend Gloria Conroy along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Stafford - Valerie Elizabeth Penepent, 38, of Stafford, passed away Tuesday, (April 7, 2015) at her home, in Stafford.

Ms. Penepent was born February 2, 1977 in Batavia, a daughter of Richard and Althea (Schramm) Penepent of Stafford.

Valerie was a member of Resurrection Parish, St. Joseph's Church and enjoyed working at the Genesee ARC.

She loved to bowl, dance, and go out with her dinner group, doing crafts and listening to country music.  Spending time with her family and shopping were also very important to her.

Along with her parents, she is survived by her siblings, Richard Penepent of Chili, Joseph A. (Jeanne) Penepent of Byron, Jayne (Joseph Basile) Penepent of Greece, Eugene "Geno" (Deborah Lanceri) Penepent of Byron, Dina (Joseph) Masi of Long Valley, NJ, and Paul Penepent of Basil, Switzerland.  Several favorite nieces and nephews also survive.

Bernadine B. Foote, 72 of Elba, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (April 7, 2015) at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Williamsville.

She was born in Buffalo, NY on February 16, 1943, daughter of the late Frank and Florence Plewniak Bakos.

Bernadine was a former executive director for the Red Cross of Orleans County and office clerk for Dr. Ecker Dentistry  in Batavia prior to her retirement. She was a member of Ascension Parish where she volunteered at the church bingo. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially around the holidays where she was able to show off her great cooking skills.

She was the wife of the late Arnold Foote who passed away in 1999.

Survivors include her daughter, Stacy (Jerome) Scharlau of Alexander. Son, Jason (Brooke) Foote of Elba. Grandchildren, Marissa and Jessica Scharlau , Jacob, Emma and Garrison Foote. Brothers, Thomas (Eleanor) Bakos of Batavia, Paul (Barbara) Bakos of Maryland, Frank (Darlene) Bakos of Tennessee, Stephen Bakos of Batavia and Bernard (Mary) Bakos of Batavia.  Nieces and nephews also survive.

John C. Ellis, 71, passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital, Buffalo on April 6, 2015 surrounded by his devoted family.  He was born in Batavia on September 23, 1943 to Elsie M. Woodworth (Tiberio-Ellis) and Charles J. Ellis. John was preceded in death by his fiancé Ruth Dutton, parents, step-father Deane P. Woodworth, and sister Sherry Woodworth Farnsworth.

He is survived by his loving children, Wayne Ellis of Fort Myers, Terry (Catrina) Penders, Tammy Nanni of Oakfield, Kathy (Donald) Park of Pavilion, Lynn (Gerald) Sanders of Batavia; sisters Ann Marie Ellis of Fort Myers, Susan (James) Moore of Valrico, Susan (James) Flagg of Tallahassee; brother James Woodworth of LeRoy. John's legacy includes his adoring 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends.

He worked as a highway equipment operator employed by the New York State Department of Transportation.  As an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and Ascension Parish, John demonstrated that his faith was always the center of his life. Throughout his life John enjoyed the great outdoors!   In his earlier years he camped with his children, raised horses, sponsored 4-H groups, and maintained a garden.  During his retirement years, when he wasn't traveling, one could find him spending time caring for his yard and flowers or you just might catch him sharing time with friends at the Pok-A-Dot.   John was proud to be a avid New York Yankee and Dallas Cowboy fan. He was the cowboy of the family.  Affectionately, he was called:  "Johnny Boots".  He liked everything western from his clothes to his music.  The message he left for us on his grave stone reads:  "Happy trails to you until we meet again!"

Ann T. Huber, 81, of Attica passed away Saturday April 4, 2015 in Warsaw, New York. She was born July 26, 1933 to the late Peter (Anna Tronolone) Carnevale. She is preceded in death by her brother Michael Carnevale.

She was a devoted wife of Douglas Huber, loving mother to Keith (Leslie) and Kenneth (Debbie) Huber; grandmother to Bradley, Matthew and Kevin and sister to Peter “Eugene” (Patricia) Carnevale.

Ann and her brothers were raised by their parents in Attica. A first generation Italian-American, she earned a degree from D’Youville College. Eventually Ann built a career of over 40 years as a Medical Technologist at the Genesee County Lab in Batavia. Better known as “Boots” amongst friends and neighbors, she enjoyed golf and gardening in addition to being a faithful parishioner of her church. Ann spent many wonderful years together with loved ones on the family farm.

There will be no prior calling hours. An 11:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday April 10, 2015 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish) 1230 Clinton Street Bennington Center, New York 14011. She will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Connie Ann Meisner, 71, of Attica, died peacefully with her husband Tom at her side, at Genesee County Nursing Home on Saturday, April 4, 2015.

Born on June 28, 1943 to the late Larry (Betty Jean Boyles) Wilson in Philippi, WV, Connie was the beloved wife of Thomas B. Meisner, loving mother of Scott (Laurie) Meisner, and Todd (Amy) Meisner.  She was a devoted and loving grandmother to her two grandchildren, JT and Alexis.

Connie is survived by her brother, L. Greg (Paula) Wilson, niece Tiffany (Brad) and nephew Dane (Meghan) along with aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Connie spent her early childhood in Philippi, WV and then moved to Oakfield, NY in the early 1950’s.  She attended nursing school after graduating from high school.  She always enjoyed caring for others.  Over the years she worked as a bus aide for the handicapped children and as a home health aide caring for those who needed her.  Most recently, Connie was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Attica participating in the Prayer and Share group.  This group wrote cards weekly to recognize birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions of people in the community.

Connie was a loving soul who looked for the good in others.  She would befriend strangers, take time to visit and chat and always have a smile on her face.  She shared her love with her dogs, Cocoa and Suzie. Connie was a free spirit and shared her creativity with others.

Philadelphia — Michael R. Phillips, 58, of Washington Crossing, PA, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, while in the company of his loving fiance and family.
Michael was born June 30, 1956, in the Batavia, son of the Dr. Paul J. and the late Dorothy Phillips of Batavia, NY.

Michael graduated from Paul Smith College in Lake Placid, NY, and received his bachelor's degree in hotel management from Florida International University. 

Michael was an avid animal lover, and his passion was horses.  He spent the last 10 years volunteering many, many hours at Reindancer Therapeutic Riding Center, an organization that works with individuals with a range of physical, emotional, cognitive, and social special needs including military veterans through horses.

Surviving along with his father, is Michael's finance, Dr. John "Yanni" Styliaras, three brothers, Paul (Lisa Bosley) of Loveland, Colo., Edward of Babylon, NY, and Daniel (Jacquie) of Batavia; three sisters, Anne of Batavia, Constance Chisolm of Rochester and Katie (Robert) Brown of Batavia; many nieces and nephews, as well as, his dear friend, Richard Oriolo.

There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held at Thursday, April 9 at Resurrection Parish-St. Joseph's Church at 9:30 a.m.  Memorials in honor of Michael's memory, can be made to the Reindancer Therapeutic Riding Center (www.reindancer.org).

Anthony J. "Tony" Ilacqua, 82 of Batavia, passed away Saturday (April 4, 2015) at United Memorial Medical Center.

He was born in Geneva, NY on November 8, 1932, son of the late Joseph and Angela Giaimis Ilacqua.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served his country with the U.S. Air Force. Anthony was employed as a printer for The Daily News prior to his retirement and was the former owner of Caito’s Liquor Store in Batavia.  He had also worked for some time at the Batavia Downs and was a member of the Glenn S. Loomis Post 332 American Legion.  Anthony enjoyed spending time with his family and was affectionately known as “Papa” by his loving grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carmela Colantonio Ilacqua of Batavia. Two daughters, Angela (Phil) Heiman of Pavilion and Maria (Jim) McAndrew of Mechanicsburg, PA. Son, Anthony (Amy) Ilacqua of Oakfield.  Grandchildren, Kevin, Caroline, Scott, Brian, Eric, Michael, Anthony, Jordan and Brenna. His feline friends, Muffin, Lucky and Holly.

He was predeceased by his brother, Peter Ilacqua.

Dora Louise Popp-Milliron, 93, of Buffalo formerly of Perry died on Friday April 3, 2015 at her home in Buffalo surrounded by family.  She was born in Perry on June 5, 1921 a daughter of the late Harry and Ruth Lowery Barber. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband: John Popp who died in 1966, and siblings: Ruth Marcucci, Clifford and John Barber.

Dora was a graduate of Perry High School. She worked for the former Champion Products in Perry, and after moving to Buffalo 47 years ago she worked for The University of Buffalo in the Credit Union Department. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Perry. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts.

She is survived by her husband Edwin whom she married in 1969, 2 sons: Dr. A. John (Margaret Vosburgh) Popp of Albany, Tom (Holly) Popp of Seneca Falls, a step daughter: Deborah Hough of Buffalo, a sister: Harriett Gill of Perry, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

DENNIS P. O'KEEFE - age 74, of West Seneca died suddenly Thursday afternoon April 2, 2015 at South Buffalo Mercy Hospital. He was born January 17, 1941 in Buffalo, NY to the late John M. and Kathryn (Homegardner) O'Keefe also preceded in death by brothers, John "Jack" and Michael O'Keefe and sister, Marianne Lopez.

   Mr. O'Keefe was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Church in Hamburg and worked for many years at General Motors prior to his retirement. He is a US Marine Corps Veteran and a former school board member in Orchard Park.

   Surviving is his beloved wife of 49 years, Barbara (Whalen) O'Keefe of West Seneca; loving sons, Dennis (Linda) O'Keefe of Guilderland, NY, Rev. Patrick O'Keefe (formerly in residence at St. Padre Pio Parish Elba/Oakfield) of Hamburg and Kevin (Sue) O'Keefe of Winchester, VA; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews survive.

Gerald A. Dedoszak, 63, of Varysburg died Wednesday April 1, 2015 peacefully at his home under the loving care of his immediate family and hospice.  He was born February 27, 1952 in Buffalo to John and Helen Beglinger Dedoszak.

Jerry retired from Motorola, Inc. after 35 years of service.  After retirement, he held several part time jobs and owned harness race horses.  He enjoyed golfing, bowling, watching his horses race, working in his yard and woods, and watching the Buffalo Bills and NY Yankees.  He mostly enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  Jerry was a proud member of the Varysburg Lions Club, the Wyoming County Veterans Club, Sons of the American Legion, and several harness racing associations.  He was a former member of St. Nicholas RC Church in North Java.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Tamara (Cartwright) Dedoszak; daughters Krystal (Brian) Dominick of Varysburg and Cassandra Shearing of Milwaukee, WI; sister Jeanne (David Schwenkbeck) Eck and brother Steven (Michele) Dedoszak;  sisters-in-law Kimberly (Charles) Schwab and Sueanna Cartwright; brother-in-law Arthur Cartwright; parents-in-law Andrea Lavery, Joseph (Brenda) Lavery and Chyra (Steve Balmas) Bowles, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  Jerry was also expecting his first grandchild in June.

Albion - Charles A. Price, 61, of Albion, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Price was born August 24, 1953 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a son of Jean Jackson Price of Byron and the late Arthur Price.

Charlie enjoyed photography and traveling with his family. His true passion was boating and being out on the water. Charlie said he "felt closest to God while on the water."

Surviving along with his mother are his sister, Margaret J. (late Robert) Hayes of Byron; two brothers, John B. (Kari Simonetti) Price of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Kenneth A. (Ann) Price of Greeley, Colorado; a sister-in-law, Kathy Cromwell Price of Memphis, Tennessee; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends including Rich (Jodi) Gaines of Albion.

He is predeceased by his brother David L. Price.

Louise R. Rees, 93, of Batavia passed away peacefully on Palm Sunday, March 29, 32015 in the comfort of her home with family by her side. Born November 22, 1921 in Rome, New York, Louise was the daughter of the late Clarence D. and Ruth Plato Wales. On August 26, 1944 she married Arland B. Rees, who predeceased her in death in January of 2013. She is also preceded in death by her father-in-law David A. Rees; Mothers-in law Mabel Rees and Shirley Rees; brothers Howard C., Leonard C. and Louis C. Wales and grandson Joshua David.

Louise graduated in 1940 from West Moreland Central High School; Rome, New York. She held 3 different positions at Houghton College; Secretary to the Dean of the college, Secretary of the Public Relations Office and Secretary to the Church of Relations Director. She was also Church Secretary at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Williamsville, Woolworth Memorial Methodist Church in Great Bend, Clyde Methodist Church in Clyde and East Bethany Presbyterian Church in East Bethany. She retired in 1998. Louise attended First Wesleyan Church and Northgate Free Methodist Church Both in Batavia. Louise was a very beloved person and Christian Example. She loved her family deeply and took much joy in helping others! Her smile was radiant and touched your heart.

Louise is survived by her children John A. (Kim) Rees of Batavia; Carol L. (Paul) Ensell of Belmont; 4 grandchildren David G. Rees of Batavia, Kelli (Jamie) McClurg of Warsaw, Tomas J. Ensell of Belmont, Cara M. Ensell of Elmira.

Audrey M. Lee, 85, of Batavia passed away on Tuesday March 31, 2015 at Genesee County Nursing Home. She was born July 26, 1929 in Batavia, New York to the late Albert (Laura Coons) Warner. She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas M. Lee; sons Lawrence T. and Thomas K. Lee; brothers Gilbert (Betty), Donald and Irving Warner; grandson Richard T. Lee and son-in-law Ronald J. Stepp.

Mrs. Lee worked as a waitress at Steak House, and also worked at Sylvania Factory and Oliver’s Candies. She enjoyed her family, bingo, crossword puzzles and playing cards. She was the Treasure for the Birchwood Committee.

She is survived by her children Gregory (Elsie) Lee of Batavia, Diane Stepp of Batavia; brother Gerald Warner of FL; daughters-in-law Cheryl L. Lee, Louise Lee, Jo Ann Sivecz; sisters-in-law Rose Warner, Florence Fryer, Donna Lee; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
