Batavia ~ Raymond Follaco, age 91, passed away Sunday morning (Nov. 7, 2021) at the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia.

   

  He was born December 25, 1929 in Rome, Italy, a son of the late Carlo and Emma Canzanella Follaco.

     Ray will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who followed all his grandchildren's school and sporting events.  He was a proud Navy veteran as well as a gifted craftsman, having built and remodeled homes, along with furniture and guitars.  He was also an avid fisherman, a great golfer and a voracious reader.

     He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Paula (William) Wade of Rochester and Rochelle A. (Dr. Barry) Clark of Wellsboro, PA; grandchildren, Charles (Elizabeth) Wade, Ethan (Brenna) Wade, MaryCatherine (Michael) Neumann and Patrick (Emily) Clark; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, June, Griffin, Cooper, Liam, Lillian, Olivia, Josephine, Eli, and Tess; sisters, Celia (late Joe) Nesser of Pittsford and Carol (Clem) Suero of Rochester; special friend, Ron Chrzanowski, special care provider, Karen Mills, along with many nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his parents, Ray was predeceased by his wife, Joan Saetta Follaco, his brother, Louis (late Anna) Follaco and sister, Rose (late Charlie) Paparone.

     Family and friends may call on Saturday, Nov. 20 from 10 ~ 11:30 A.M. at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake St. Rd. (Rt. 19), LeRoy, where services and military honors will be held at 11:30 A.M.  The wearing of masks would be appreciated by the family.

  Roger D. Meinhold, 54, of Alexander passed away on November 9, 2021. He was born on August 27, 1967 in Buffalo to the late Richard and Kathleen (Wilcox) Meinhold. In addition to his parents, Roger is predeceased by his son; Jacob Meinhold.

Roger worked as a technician for Verizon Communications in Batavia. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, boating and camping. Roger was “Mr. Fix it” for his family. He was a comedian, loving and reliable, someone who took care of everybody and everything. His granddaughter would say “He’s my favorite.”

He is survived by his loving wife; Kathleen (Wallworth) Meinhold; children Ashley Meinhold of Colden, NY, Paige Meinhold of Red Oak, TX, Allison Steavens of Attica, NY, Christina Weston of Alexander, NY,  Valerie (Dustin) Johnston of Murfreesboro, TN, and Ashley (Tony) Fortney of Summersville, SC; siblings Richard (Lori) Meinhold of Orchard Park, NY, Mary (Art) Converse of St. Augustine, FL, and Colleen (Steve) Tyler of Greece, NY; 4 grandchildren Abraham Steavens, Trinity Acquard, Mira Breitwieser and Evelyn Johnston, along with several; nieces and nephews.

Elba – Frank Zielinski, of Elba passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia following a brief illness. Mr. Zielinski was born in Elba, New York, a son of the late Stanley and Josephine (Swigula) Zielinski.

Frank retired from the United States Gypsum Co. in Oakfield, New York, as the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor. From there he drove school bus at Elba Central School. Frank was an athlete excelling in multiple sports in his youth, later coaching multiple teams including company softball and elementary basketball. He was always smiling and ready with a joke; he loved to make people laugh.

Frank is survived by his wife, Jane A. (Cole) Zielinski of Elba, a son, David (Pamela) Zielinski of Amsterdam, New York; a daughter, Terry (Charles) Hirsch of Elba; grandchildren, Jeremy, Christopher, and Bethany Zielinski, Dillon, Dakota, and Dixie Hirsch; a great-grandchild, Cohen Olson; a brother, Bruno (Dorothy) Zielinski of Batavia; sisters Jennie (late Bill) Seager of Albion, and Helen (late Clarence) Klinkbeil of LeRoy. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He is preceded in death by six siblings.

There will be no visitation. A private family service was held at the Elba United Methodist Church with Pastor Eric McHugh officiating. Burial will be in Daws Corners Cemetery in Batavia. Rita A. Murphy, 85 of Batavia, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021. She was born in Johsonburg, November 10, 1935 to Ernest and Mattie (Meyer) Murphy. Rita is predeceased by her siblings, Teresa Murphy, Estella (Edward) Petrie, Viola Murphy, Joseph (Susie) Murphy, Mary Frances (Edward) Reynolds, Charles (Marion) Murphy.  

Rita graduated from Attica High School and then worked for GTE Sylvania before she retired. After Retirement she kept busy working at a variety of places including McDonald’s, Walmart and Oliver’s. Rita attended daily masses and enjoyed her time at the Senior Center.

She is survived by sisters, Sister Mary Patrick Murphy SSJ, Genevieve (late Donald) Burlingame and Doris (late Arnie) DuPont; brothers, Norman (Mary Ann) and Paul (late Beverly) Murphy, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rose Marie Hallock, 79, departed on her final journey with her son by her side, November 4, 2021. She had been a resident of LeRoy Village Green for several years.

Rosie (as she was known), was born on the family farm November 26, 1941, in Belfast NY. She is the daughter of the late Edward J. Hallock and Late Alta May Hallock (nee Snyder). She is the sister of Norma P. Main of Silver Springs and Edward J Hallock Jr. of Pavilion. 

She was married January 24th, 1959, to Bonifacio Pedraza and had 3 sons, Anthony L. (Alicia) Pedraza, of Clermont FL, Ricky J. Pedraza of Orlando, FL, and Larry M. Pedraza of Batavia, NY. 
She was a member of the North Darien Bible Church for 54 years and retired from the Alexander Central School system in the kitchen and custodial departments. 

Rosie could stretch pennies farther than most could dollars but no matter how little she had she would share with anyone, anytime, be it a ride to church, a home cooked meal, or a bed to sleep on. Her kindness was shared with animals, children, college students, senior citizens, and sometimes whole families. A true fan of garage sales, auctions and yard sales, she was known to host some grand sales at whatever home she was currently fixing up. 
Hearing impaired due to scarlet fever at age 4, she could bluff better than professional card players but sneaking in after curfew would still find her waiting at the top of the stairs no matter how quiet you were.

She also leaves behind 1 Fierce Protector Ralph S. Madill, 4 grandchildren Nicole Thomas, Joshua Pedraza, Cheyenne Pedraza and Tylor Pedraza, 4 great-grandchildren, 8 nieces and nephews and numerous lives touched by her caring. 
In keeping with her giving nature, she has donated her body to University at Buffalo anatomical gift program. There will be no calling hours or services at her request. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Genesee County Habitat 4 Humanity, a community food pantry, or Mental health agency and keep paying it forward. 

 

Carol A. Frongetta, 76 of Batavia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, November 5, 2021 at her home. She was born July 6, 1945 in Batavia, to the late Joseph (Josephine Sardina) Natolie. She is preceded in death by her brother-in-law Donald Suozzi.

Carol was an LPN at the VA Medical Center in Batavia, before she retired. She was an avid gardener that loved to cook and go to the casino. Carol enjoyed vacationing, yearly trips to Myrtle Beach, spending time with family and friends. Her greatest joy was being with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Robert “Bob” Frongetta of Batavia, sons, Michael (Lancy) of Batavia, Mark (Erica) Frongetta of Elba, sister Rosemarie Suozzi of Batavia, four grandchildren, Abigail, Alec, Benjamin and Sophia Frongetta, along with many nieces and nephews.

Conesus Lake – Linda Louise Tonner, 68, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2021.  

She was born November 26, 1952 in Kenmore, New York.  Linda was a retired Registered Nurse who loved taking care of people, and was so proud of her profession.

Linda loved music and animals, especially her stuffed cat Brandi. She also enjoyed traveling, walking on the beach with her mom, and spending time with family. Linda had a very kind, caring, and generous heart. She was always caring and giving to others, a true inspiration to her family, and everyone around her. She was very much loved, and will be greatly missed.

Linda is survived by her six brothers and sisters, Tom Tonner (Rose) Cheektowaga NY, Colleen Glanville Virginia Beach VA, Randy Tonner Oakfield NY, Peggy Tonner Batavia NY, Mike Tonner Batavia NY and Amy Lavelle Virginia Beach VA. Nieces and Nephews, Shannon, Becky, Kelly, Amy, Randy, Matthew, Tony, and Nick, Great nieces and nephews: Kaya, Madelynn, Aaliyah, Anthony, Ethan, Maddox, Jordan, Anders and Jalen.  Great, great niece and nephew Sia’ani and Jaelyn.

She was predeceased by her mother, MaryLou Tonner (Dimmick) and nephew, Justin Lavelle.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.

Karen E. Becker, 65, of Corfu, passed away on November 1, 2021 at Rochester General Hospital.

Karen was born November 26, 1955 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Loren N. and Shirley (Parker) Smith.

She loved being with her family and playing games while they were together.  Karen enjoyed reading and collecting tin toys.  Karen attended High Point Community Church and she will be remembered for helping and comforting others.  

Surviving are her husband, Randy Becker of Corfu, son, Jason Becker of Corfu, brother, Brian (Wendy) Smith of East Bethany, sister, April K. Smith of Grand Island and nieces and nephews.

Predeceased in death by her brother, Robert Alan Smith and her stepfather, Nelson A. Foley.

  Bart A. Thomas Sr., 68, of Batavia passed away on November 2, 2021 at United Memorial Medical Center. He was born on December 25, 1952 in Batavia, the fourth child of the late William F. Thomas and Anna L. (Duncan) Thomas.

Bart was an experienced welder and machinist at Batavia Metal Products. He loved all sports, and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Bart loved to cook and go to the casino for entertainment. Above all else he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years; Carmen Thomas; children William L. Thomas of Batavia, Bart A. (Kathlyn) Thomas, Jr. of Buffalo, Shamarr A. (DJ) Mamula of Washington State and Adam Thomas of Batavia; five grandchildren, Peyton, Patrick, Trey, Lily and Nathanial; mother-in-law Carmen M. Martinez; siblings Patricia A. Johnson, Rick A. Patricia G. Manning-Root, 76, of Albion, passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at United Memorial Medical Center. She was born August 4, 1945 in Brockport to the late Richard (Alice Priestly) Manning Sr. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Root and sister Alice Swanson.

Patricia worked for many years at Chase Bank in Batavia. She loved NASCAR, Elvis, the New York Yankees and baking. Patricia enjoyed camping and cookouts with her family. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Root and Wendy Root both of Albion, sister, Becky (Ray) Madigan of Clarendon, brother, Richard (Kathy) Manning Jr. of Texas, 3 grandchildren, David (Brittany) DiSalvo, Kari Stoddard, Katelyn DiSalvo, 6 great-grandchildren, Tanner, Gunner, Piper, Justin, David, Benjamin, along with several nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Savage, 93, of Parker, Colorado passed away on Tuesday October 26, 2021 at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Parker surrounded by her loving family.

She is survived by her husband John Ottinger of Parker, Colorado whom she married in 1996, her son Michael (Pam) Savage of Parker, Colorado, and her daughter Marilyn (Michael) Mullen of Batavia, New York. Her grandchildren Chad (Samantha) Savage of Kansas City, Missouri, Danielle (Dave) Abrahams of Parker, Colorado, Michael (Jerri) Savage of Boise, Idaho, Burgundy (Rob) McCoy of Amherst, New York, Chelsea (Christopher) Cummings of Batavia, New York, Bonnie (Gareth) Dismore of Stockholm, Sweden, Kyle (Amanda) Savage of Parker, Colorado, and Samantha (Charith) Mullen of Amherst, New York, and 18 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Major Kenneth “Bud” Savage (USAF Retired) and their son John Patrick “Pat” Savage.

Betty was born August 6, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, the only child of the late John and Frances Pearl (Crowley) Connell. After marrying Bud in 1949, they embarked on the adventure of their lifetime, living at air bases around the world with their three children in support of his career as an Air Force fighter pilot. After Bud’s retirement brought them to Denver, Betty began her career with the Department of Treasury IRS Denver office where she worked until her retirement.

A voracious reader, Betty was always involved in a new book, and the advent of electronic readers only seemed to accelerate her reading pace, even into her nineties. Quilting was another of her pastimes, with the colorful designs decorating and warming the walls of their homes over the years.

But her true passion was family, and visiting with them was always the highlight of any day. Betty was just a phone call away, no matter where her family was. She will always be remembered for her humor, her twinkling and piercing Irish eyes, her sage advice, and her loving and unwavering support of her children and grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Betty will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Batavia, with a Celebration of Life to follow in Colorado at a later date.  Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. East Bethany - Douglas Francis Laird, 59 of East Bethany passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

Doug was born Tuesday, December 26th, 1961 in Batavia, a son of the late Charles Douglas Laird and Marguerite Johnson Laird.

Doug enjoyed traveling, comic books and had a passion for music. He loved listening to the music from the 1950's and 1960's especially The Beach Boys, The Beatles and Sam Cook among many others. Doug played guitar and sang with the folk group at Immaculate Conception Church in East Bethany. He was a 1980 graduate of LeRoy High School and member of the LeRoy Pasta Club.

Surviving are his children, Brian Laird of Stafford, Justin (Amanda) Laird of New Kensington, Pennsylvania, Katelyn (Michael) Brazeau of LeRoy and their mother Jeri Laird; his "adopted children", Kohl (Amanda) Kingsland of Henrietta and Mackenzie Leone of LeRoy; grandchildren, Elise and Julia Brazeau; his "adopted granddaughter", Hannah Kingsland; brothers, Thomas (Kathy) Laird of Fort Pierce, Florida and Kenneth Laird of East Bethany; his sister, Catherine (William) Plaisted of Clifton Springs; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, one great-great-nephew and cousins.

He is predeceased by his sisters, Nancy Thompson and Mary Beth LaVare and his beloved dog Chewy.

  Louise N. Rupe, 83 of Corfu, passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. She was born on March 11, 1938 in Yorkshire, NY to the late Donald and Kathryn (Rice) Tullar. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Ernest Tullar.

Louise had been an active volunteer in church ministries throughout her life which included Sunday School teacher, Youth Group Ministries and Women's Bible Study teacher. She also served on Lay Witness Missions, having participated in over 50 weekend missions throughout New York, Pennsylvania and Florida. Louise volunteered in nursing homes and Prison Ministries in Albion Correctional Facility. She was past President of the Women's Aglow Fellowship in Batavia and Vice President of Leadership on the Genesee Valley AGLOW area board. She and her husband, Marvin, led a Grief Share Group for 26 years. Her other interests were in crafting and she was past member of the Holland Land Office Museum Quilt Guild. She devoted many years of her life babysitting other children in her home.  

Louise is survived by her childhood sweetheart and beloved husband of 65 years, Marvin Rupe of Corfu; her children, Randol (Janice) Rupe of Syracuse, Debra (Daniel) Athoe of Batavia, Cynthia (Robert) Bucci of Oakfield, Laura (Paul) Thurber of Basom, Daniel (Catherine) Rupe of Fairport; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Albion - Bonnie Joyce Rosenbaum, 62 of Albion passed away on Monday, (November 1, 2021) at her home in Albion.

Mrs. Rosenbaum was born October 11, 1959 in Auburn, California a daughter of Roberta (Stice) Wilson of California and the late Pawle Wilson.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and raising dogs and tropical fish. She was a long time bar tender at Tillman's Village Inn.  

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Alan H. Rosenbaum of Albion; a son, Phylip (Leanna) Montgomery of California; step-children, Shana (Mike) Parton of Rochester, and Jonele Given of Rochester; grandchildren, Mason, Ethan, Alec, Norma Jean, Liam, Jameson, and Peyton; a great-granddaughter, Ariella Rosenbaum Dedee; brothers, Rondy and Kevin Wilson both of Washington.

Pavilion ~ Mary S. Strobel, age 92, of Lake Street, passed away Monday morning (November 1, 2021) at home in the loving presence of her family.

   

  She was born January 11, 1929 in Crogan, N.Y., a daughter of the late Royal and Nina Cratsenberg Smith.

     Mary will be remembered as a loving and proud wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, who enjoyed knitting and crocheting gifts for her family, especially for all of her grandchildren.  She also assisted her husband, Al, with the family business, Strobel's Auto Electric.

     She will be sadly missed by her children, Sharon Grube of FL, Bruce (Mary) Strobel of Tonawanda, Nancy (James) Morthope of GA, Larry Strobel of LeRoy, Deborah (Don) Cahail of MO and Joan (Andrew) Stevens of Mt. Morris; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Rev. Herbert R. Strobel of PA; Fresh Air Fund Daughter, Debbie Farr, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

     Mary was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of almost 70 years, Albert;  brother-in-law, Ralph W. "Billy" Strobel and sister-in-law, Marge Strobel.

     Family and friends may call on Thursday, Nov. 4 from 11 AM ~ 1 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy.  Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Pavilion.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to either the Pavilion Fire Department or the Pavilion United Methodist Church.
