Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Savage, 93, of Parker, Colorado passed away on Tuesday October 26, 2021 at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Parker surrounded by her loving family.

She is survived by her husband John Ottinger of Parker, Colorado whom she married in 1996, her son Michael (Pam) Savage of Parker, Colorado, and her daughter Marilyn (Michael) Mullen of Batavia, New York. Her grandchildren Chad (Samantha) Savage of Kansas City, Missouri, Danielle (Dave) Abrahams of Parker, Colorado, Michael (Jerri) Savage of Boise, Idaho, Burgundy (Rob) McCoy of Amherst, New York, Chelsea (Christopher) Cummings of Batavia, New York, Bonnie (Gareth) Dismore of Stockholm, Sweden, Kyle (Amanda) Savage of Parker, Colorado, and Samantha (Charith) Mullen of Amherst, New York, and 18 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Major Kenneth “Bud” Savage (USAF Retired) and their son John Patrick “Pat” Savage.

Betty was born August 6, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, the only child of the late John and Frances Pearl (Crowley) Connell. After marrying Bud in 1949, they embarked on the adventure of their lifetime, living at air bases around the world with their three children in support of his career as an Air Force fighter pilot. After Bud’s retirement brought them to Denver, Betty began her career with the Department of Treasury IRS Denver office where she worked until her retirement.

A voracious reader, Betty was always involved in a new book, and the advent of electronic readers only seemed to accelerate her reading pace, even into her nineties. Quilting was another of her pastimes, with the colorful designs decorating and warming the walls of their homes over the years.

But her true passion was family, and visiting with them was always the highlight of any day. Betty was just a phone call away, no matter where her family was. She will always be remembered for her humor, her twinkling and piercing Irish eyes, her sage advice, and her loving and unwavering support of her children and grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Betty will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Batavia, with a Celebration of Life to follow in Colorado at a later date.  Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were entrusted to Heflebower Funeral Home in Denver, Colorado and H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home in Batavia, New York.

Steven E. Pullen, 72 of Batavia, passed away on Friday (September 30, 2022) at United Memorial Medical Center.

He was born July 18, 1950 in Nampa, Idaho, a son of the late Jesse Pullen and Dorothy Corttis Pullen Cox.

Steven and Connie met in May of 1972 and married May 4, 1974. Fifty years together and 48 years married. They raised 4 fine children in Perry, NY. where they lived until 2010.

Steven worked as a steel fitter at Graham Corporation in Batavia for over 45 years. For many years he also worked as a white water raft guide, primarily in Letchworth State Park. Over the years he was a Boy Scout, a member of the NRA, an American Red Cross instructor, and a volunteer ambulance responder among other things. He had enjoyed traveling around the US since his retirement, revisiting many spots he had seen as a child.  He had a life time love of photography and miniature trains.

He was predeceased by his daughter Lucy Pullen who died in 2018.

Survivors include his wife, Constance Kline Pullen of Batavia. Daughter, Sandra (Terry) Rawleigh of Dansville. Sons, James “Jamie” Pullen and William “Willie”, both of Batavia. Grandchildren, Madelynn and Alexander Rawleigh. Brothers and sisters, Julie Grant, Robert Pullen, Janice Palumbos, Debra Pendergast and Lillian Hashimoto. Also survived by sisters in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to share thoughts, condolences and fond memories on Saturday (October 8^th) from 3-5pm at the J. LEONARD McANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2 Bogue Ave., Batavia, NY, where a remembrance service will commence at 5pm.

  Jane E. Costanzo, 86, of Batavia passed away peacefully on Monday May 17, 2021. She was born on March 6, 1935 in Utica to the late Patrick and Annie (Clermont) Mullen. In addition to her parents, Jane is predeceased by her children; Timothy and infant daughter Nadine; brothers Patrick Jr., Thomas and Robert Mullen; sisters Shirley Kloczkowski and Theresa Moorehead.

Jane was raised in Whitesboro, NY. She attended Whitesboro Central Schools and St. Francis de Sales High School in Utica, then went on to the College of St. Rose in Albany and University of Buffalo. She married her husband Robert Costanzo on Aug. 19, 1967 in Whitesboro. Jane taught for many years in the Catholic Schools in the Syracuse and Albany Diocese and the Whitesboro Central School district. She was a substitute teacher in the Batavia City Schools and St. Anthony’s for eight years and also taught full time at John Kennedy Elementary School as the Library Media Specialist for ten years. Jane was a member of both the NY State and Batavia Retired Teachers Associations. She was a part of the Notre Dame Prayer Group, Ascension Parish Right to Life Committee, the Ascension Bible Study Group and a former Eucharistic Minister and bereavement group member. She was a Professed Sister of St. Joseph of Carondolet for twelve years and was a member of the Devine Mercy Prayer Group. Jane will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family and faith.

She is survived by her husband; Robert Costanzo of Batavia; son Scott (Shannon Broderick) Costanzo of Chili, NY; sisters Karen Kienle-Harries of FL., Cynthia (Dennis) Day of NC; grandchildren Cade and Eva Costanzo.

Visiting hours will be held 3:00-7:00PM on Monday May 24, 2021 at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Co., Inc. 329-333 W. Main St., Batavia. A 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Tuesday May 25^th at Ascension Parish, 19 Sumner St., Batavia. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Mausoluem. The funeral home and church will be restricted to 50% of their normal capacity. Face coverings and social distancing are mandatory. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Mary J. George, 90, of Batavia, passed away after a short stay at Premier Genesee on January 26, 2021. She was born on April 8, 1930 in Elba, to the late Stanley and Josephine (Swiergula) Zielinski. She is predeceased by her husband, Bernard George, grandson Alan, siblings, Stella Syzmanski, Sophia Kingdom, Ann Surman and Julian Zielinski.

Mary worked for Mullen Brother’s Office Supply Store in Batavia before becoming a wife and full-time homemaker. She loved attending family events, dining out, watching Lawrence Welk and polka music. Mary enjoyed traveling whether it be a local day trip or the family trips she made to Hawaii and Australia/New Zealand. She was proud to have been a contestant for the Elba Onion Queen having personally worked in the muck for her family. Mary spent her life caring for other people and will be dearly missed.

Mary is survived by her children, Douglas (Janet) George of Suwanee, GA, Daniel George of Stafford, Patricia (Mark) Grabosky of Fairport and Christina (Steven) Brown of Webster. Grandchildren, Sidney, Eric, Ross and Tabitha, siblings, Martha Tierney of North Tonawanda, Bruno (Dorothy) Zielinski of Batavia, Helen Klinkbeil of LeRoy, Jennie Seager of Albion, Frank (Jane) Zielinski of Elba, and sister-in-law Shirley (Thomas) Edbauer of North Tonawanda, along with many nieces and nephews.  

There will be no prior calling hours, services will be held privately for the family. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Batavia. A Celebration of her Life will be scheduled by the family at a later date.

Patricia Ellen (James) Waddell-Snodgrass, age 77, a resident of Philippi, NY, passed away Thursday Dec. 30, 2020 in the United Hospital Center. 

Patricia was born Feb. 13, 1943 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, a daughter of the late Lewis and Bernice (Hodgins) James. Patricia was united in marriage on Aug. 22, 1985 to Dr. Ralph R. Snodgrass Jr., who preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 2012. 

Patricia had a love and passion for horses. She was a member of the United States Trotting Association and was pivotal in publicity for the Canadian Trotting Association. She trained a small stable of horses in western New York including Stonegate Payoff, Gails Rusty, VV Dexter and Patrick Will. She was always highly regarded in the Standardbred community as well as the West Virginia Miniature Horse Club. Pat loved everyone she came into contact with.

Patricia is survived by daughter Karen F. Waddell-Wellman, grandson David Waddell, stepdaughter Wendi Chapman and husband Randall, grandchildren Eric Allan Wellman and companion Ashley Mullen, Patric Christopher Wellman, Lauren and Daniel Yung, great-grandchildren, Islas Yung, Adalynn and Levi Wellman. 

Donations can be sent to the Standardbred Retirement Foundation in her name. In honor of Patricia’s request, cremation will be honored and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

LeRoy / Campbell, NY ~ Jane E. Terrill, age 93, of West Avenue, passed away early Tuesday morning (June 22, 2021) at Highland Hospital in Rochester.

     She was born June 6, 1928 on the family farm in Stafford, NY, a daughter of the late Blaine and Viola Hofmann Wight.

     While growing up in Stafford, Jane attended and graduated from the South Byron High School and went on to attend Houghton College, graduating with a teaching degree.  She went on to a long career in teaching high school math and science before retirement.  Jane ultimately moved from Campbell, NY in 2017 to The Greens in LeRoy.

     Jane is survived by her sisters, Nancy (Ronald) Johns of KY and June (Richard) Mullen of Byron; step-children, Robin (Gary) Woodbury and Doc (Jackie) Terrill; step-grandchildren, Nathan (Michele) Terrill and Matthew Terrill, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

     She was predeceased by her husband, Warren Terrill and her sisters, Evelyn (Cal) Waterman, Mary (Charles) Torrey and Grace (Norman) Phelps.

     A special thank you to her nurse, Beth and caregivers, Katie and Shannon, as well as the staff at Highland Hospital's 5th Floor Blue-West.

     Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
