Obituaries

Seth A. Fenton, 52 of Olivet, Michigan and formerly of Akron, NY, passed away unexpectedly, April 29, 2016, at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Amherst, NY. 

He was born August 17, 1963 in Batavia, NY, the son of the late Wm. Stanley and Dorothy Fenton. 

Seth was a 1985 graduate of Ithaca College earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications. His passion for all things sports was evident from an early age.  While in high school he did play by play for the Akron Tigers. Seth's vocal style matured during his college years working at the college radio station WICB announcing for the Ithaca Bombers.  Seth was an on air personality for multiple radio stations in NY state. While at WCJW ,Warsaw, NY, he won The 1996 NYS Broadcasters Excellence In Broadcasting Award for high school football play by play. 

A fine musician and man of faith, Seth served at St. Michael's Lutheran Church during the 1990's as the adult choir conductor and vacation bible school music director. Moving to Michigan in 1999 he switched career paths using his second love numbers and stats working for Jackson National Life call center as a Senior Business Analyst  from 1999-12. He was currently employed by  Meritain Health in Okemos, Mi. as a Workforce Managenent Analyst. Seth's love for broadcasting never left him. Seth taught as an adjunct professor two terms at Olivet College and served as the advisor to the student run radio station. As recently as October Seth had the opportunity to do voice over with Lissa Marsolex  for a Christian Brothers Racing merchandise commercial. 

In 2000 Seth and Janora were married in Las Vegas. This was the first of many travel adventures. Together they experienced the views of the Grand Canyon, seeing the redwoods in Yosemite, the Albuquerque balloon fiesta and many family vacations with Alexis, their God-daughter.  Seth enjoyed playing on golf leagues with friends both during his time in NY and in Michigan. A wealth of " useless information" he played on different teams in his local area on dj trivia nights. 

He will be missed by his wife, Janora Stevens-Fenton of Olivet, MI. Sister, Thea Fenton Wheeler of Akron, NY. Mother-in-law, Lorainne Stevens of Olivet, MI. God Daughter, Alexis Lynne  Cornwell. Cousins, Joan and Warren Clark of Corfu, NY. Many friends and extended family through the states.

There will be no prior visitation. Private services will be at the convenience of the family.

H. DEAN WEAVER

Age 84, of Batavia, died peacefully Friday April 29, 2016 at the New York State Veterans Home @ Batavia surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 16, 1931 in Cayuga, NY, a son of the late Harold L. "Mose" and Elsie (Brinker) Weaver also preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Weaver.    

Dean served honorably in the United States Army and was a lifelong worker in the natural gas and oil fields in Pennsylvania and New York. He was a devoted member of the Blind Veterans Association as well as a tireless volunteer at the Batavia VA Medical Center where he enjoyed meeting and making friends.

Surviving is his beloved wife of over 52 years, Barbara (Kilby) Weaver of Batavia; son, Bill (Peg) Weaver of Wyoming; daughter-in-law, Traci Weaver of Wyoming; sisters, Marilyn (Edward) Dills of Warsaw, Sonia (Bill) Whaley of Pavilion, Nancy Weaver of Farmington and brother, Dana Weaver of Pavilion; grandchildren, Mindy Kilby, Michelle (Andy) McIlroy, Jonathan, Joshua and Tyler Weaver; great-grandson, Reed McIlroy  along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

JoAnn M. Scott, 77, of Perry passed away on Monday May 2, 2016 at Eastside Nursing Home in Warsaw. She was born in Warsaw, New York on May 21, 1938 a daughter of the late Robert "Bud" and Lucille (Wilkow) Scholes. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Cedric A. Scott who died in 2012, and a sister Mary Jean Songer.

JoAnn was a graduate of Letchworth Central High School. She was a self employed home health aide, and had worked previously for the former Perry Knitting Mill, Motorola and Archway Cookies.She enjoyed bowling, knitting, crocheting, sewing, gardening and doing crossword puzzles.

She is survived by 2 daughters; Kathleen (David) Andres of Sandusky, Colleen Howlett of Fla., 4 sons; Theodore (Jackie) Scott of West Plains, MO, Marshall Scott of Perry Gregory Scott of Perry and Curtis (Susan) Scott of Castile 2 sisters; Roberta Carney and Margaret (Gary) Wilcox both of Raleigh, SC; 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1great great granddaughter, along with many nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior visitation. Graveside services will be held on Friday May 6, 2016 at 2:00PM at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Silver Springs. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Silver Springs.

Laura L. Orzeszek, 47, of Darien Center passed away suddenly at her home on Saturday April 30, 2016. She was born on May 17, 1968 in Canton, NY to the late George Orzeszek and Marilyn (Zimmerer) Orzeszek of Darien Center.

Laura graduated from Alexander High School in 1987 and received her Associates Degree from both Genesee Community College and Bryant & Statton. She worked for Tops Markets in Alden.

She is survived by her mother Marilyn Orzeszek of Darien Center, along with several cousins.

George W. Orzeszek, 86, of Darien Center passed away after a lengthy illness on Saturday April 30, 2016 at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Amherst. He was born on April 3, 1930 in Buffalo to the late Steven and Henrietta (Pieper) Orzeszek. 

George served his country for both The United States Army and United States Navy. He was a member of the Depew American Legion and worked for 37 years for the United States Postal Service. 

He is survived by his wife of 54 years Marilyn (Zimmerer) Orzeszek and brother Bobby Orzeszek, along with many nieces and nephews.  George’s daughter, Laura L. Orzeszek also of Darien Center passed away suddenly the same day.

  Georgina A. Morrow, 59, of Batavia passed away with her family by her side on Sunday May 1, 2016 in the Palliative Care Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born December 2, 1956 in Batavia to the late Lorenzo Amato and Anna (Zito) Amato of Palermo, Sicily

Mrs. Morrow worked at Lapp Insulator in LeRoy. She was a lifelong member of Resurrection Parish in Batavia. Gina loved spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.  She was an excellent cook and loved feeding her family, friends and neighbors. Gina traveled to Palermo, Sicily as much as possible to spend time with her loving family. Everyone who knew her loved her for her kindness, generosity and selflessness. She will be greatly missed and forever loved.

She is survived by her beloved husband Daniel L. Morrow of Batavia; son Jason (Kristine) Morrow of Tonawanda; daughters Danielle (Scott) Tooley of Batavia; Amy (Tony) Ilaqua of Oakfield; Jessica (Philip) Farley of Liverpool; brother Dominick Amato, sister Ramona Amato both of Palermo, Sicily; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild along with many nieces and nephews.

WILLIAM R. McALLISTER

Age 86, of Batavia, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday evening April 28, 2016 at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Facility. He was born July 18, 1929 in York, NY, son of the late William and Mary (Crawford) McAllister also preceded in death by infant sons, William Rueben, John Allen and Shawn Allan; sister, Racene Gilbert and granddaughter, Alyssa L. Bosse. 

Mr. McAllister was a member of the former Wesleyan Methodist Church who enjoyed reading scripture and the light of the Lord was present in all he did and was eager to share with others. A dedicated family man who enjoyed golf, worked as a salesman at Mancuso Furniture Store and owned and operated Scott's Carpet with his son for 20 years.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 55 years, Beverly (Woodhouse) McAllister of LeRoy; loving children, Colleen (Mark Plessinger) Bosse of Pittsford and Scott (Lorie Jascko) McAllister of Batavia; siblings, Robert (Marian) McAllister of Clarence and Cynthia (Marty) French of Oakfield; grandchildren, Angela (Jarred) Schlaggel, Aaron R. Bosse, Emily A. Bosse, Alex W. Bosse and Zachary  L. Bosse; 5 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

Batavia - Roger Walter Saile, 90, of Batavia, passed away Saturday, (April 30, 2016) at his home, in Batavia.

Mr. Saile was born January 18, 1926 in Batavia, a son of the late Walter and Mildred (Barber) Saile.

Roger was a private man who loved antique and classic cars, airplanes, and airshows.

He was the husband of the late L. Ruth (Ellison) Saile, who passed away January, 21, 2001.

Roger is survived by a son, Eric (Janet) Saile of Batavia; three grandchildren, Jason (Erin) Saile of Batavia, Ellen (Gregg) Traver of Naples, FL, and Sarah (Curt Capper) Saile of Batavia; a step-granddaughter, Sara (Jason) Brunner of Batavia; 11 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Mary Saile of Batavia.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Lynford Saile.

Oakfield - Mrs. Josephine L. Mosco, 90, of Oakfield, longtime member of St. Cecilia’s Church in Oakfield, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Genesee County Nursing Home.

Mrs. Mosco was born December 23, 1925 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Ercole and Jennie Taddei Cassiano.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Frank J.  Mosco; her children, Mark (Toni Buck) Mosco of Batavia,  Diane (Lee) Sage of Oakfield and the late Rita M. Davis who passed away on February 15, 1999; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; her brother,  Quito (Geraldine) Cassiano of Oakfield; her sister, Nancy (Angelo) Steffenella of LeRoy and  numerous nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased her brothers Nicholas and James Cassiano.

There are no prior visiting hours. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Padre Pio Parish -  St. Cecilia Worship Site, 56 Maple Avenue, Oakfield.  She will be laid to rest in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery. Marilyn Y. Kress, 79 of Lockport, passed away peacefully on Thursday (April 28, 2016) at Medina Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 16, 1936 in Middleport, NY, a daughter of the late Gerald and Marjorie Anderson Vanderwalker.

Marilyn enjoyed baking, gardening and the scenes of nature. Her main joy in life was spending time with her loving family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her husband, Russell J. Kress, who died February 28, 2012. Mother of the late David Kress and sister of the late Clifford Vanderwalker.

Survivors include her daughter, Jean Bedford of Akron. Four sons, James (Beverly) Kress of Lockport, Robert Kress of Lockport, Edward (Sandy) Kress of Gasport and Brian (Brenda) Kress of Newfane. Also survived by nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 Norman J. Snyder, 78, of Alexander passed away at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester on April 28, 2016 due to complications resulting from a fall at his Alexander farm.  He was born on May 14, 1937 in Crittenden, NY to the late Casper “Jim” and Josephine (Hendricks) Snyder.  In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Elsie M. Snyder; a brother David Snyder and a great grandson Damien Ortner.

Norman graduated from Alexander High School in 1955, he then attended Morrisville College majoring in their Agriculture Program. After college he married the love of his life, Elsie Marie Spring on August 23, 1958.  He was a farmer for over 50 years, a supervisor at Lapp Insulator in LeRoy for 15 years, worked for the former Salways Hardware in Batavia, Buffalo Crushed Stone and Alexander Central Schools.  Norm lost his right arm in a farming accident in 1978, but managed to overcome many obstacles and continued to farm.  He will be remembered for many things; his love for John Deere tractors and being in the fields, “top of the hill, Where God was”, his love of all animals especially his cows, chickens, pigs, sheep, cats and horses, always hiding treats in his pocket for them.  He loved old county music, Hank Williams and Crystal Gayle.  Always smiled and had a story to tell and believed a handshake was his word, but his “little piece of Heaven” was watching his grand children and great grandchildren play.

He is survived by a his daughter; Teresa (James) Wright of Darien Center; step daughter Shirley (the late William) Relyea; brothers Edward (Linda) Snyder of East Bethany, Joseph Snyder and James (Rae) Snyder both of Alexander; sisters Joanne (the late Joseph) Mazur of Attica and Kathleen (the late Charles) Hephner of Alexander; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Stafford ~ Kenneth A. Rumble Jr., age 58, of Sweetland Road, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016.

    

 He was born September 5, 1957 in Batavia, a son of the late Kenneth and Arlene Stegman Rumble Sr.

      Kenny was an avid harness racing fan for most of his life, and even ventured into actual ownership of some race horses for the last four years.  He was very proud of his barn-stable name "Thatsideofthefence, LLC".  He also thoroughly enjoyed family trips and vacations.

     He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lucinda "Cindy" Wolcott Rumble; his children, Roger (Katie) Rumble of Bergen and Nikki (Gary) Hopkins of Bergen; his grandchildren, Connor Moran, Cora & Violet Rumble, Logan Hopkins and baby girl Hopkins; longtime dear friends, Dale & Florence Ford and their children, Jackie and Danni Ford; his father-in-law, Roger Wolcott of Cohocton; brothers-in-law, Matt Wolcott, Kenny Wolcott and Jon Wolcott, all of Cohocton; sisters-in-law, Ann (Tim) Smith, Lois (Mike) Gordon and Lynn (Dale) Leslie, all of Cohocton; an uncle, Lester Stegman; aunts, Joan Rumble and Joyce Rumble, along with several cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

     In addition to his parents, Kenny was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Linda Wolcott.

Peter Yasses, 81 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday (April 27, 2016) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.

He was born June 8, 1934 in Batavia, a son of the late Steven and Helen Bachulak Yasses.

Peter was a firefighter for the City of Batavia Fire Department for over 23 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed car races, spending his summers with his family at Conesus Lake and was a member of the Polish Falcons, former St. Nicholas Social Club and V.F.W. Veness Strollo Post #1602.  He enjoyed his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

Peter was predeceased by his wife, Jane Yasses, who died June 9, 2013.

Survivors include his son, Peter (Michelle) Yasses of Byron. Daughters, Kim (late Cliff) White of Batavia and Lisa (Buddy) Ogden of Greece. Sister, Rose Marie Yasses of Batavia. Brothers, Joseph (Marianne) Yasses of Buffalo and Richard Yasses of Batavia. Also survived by 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, special cousins of the Szymanski family, nieces and nephews.

Janice N. Patterson, age 69, of Perry, passed away on Wednesday April 27, 2016 at Highland Hospital in Rochester surrounded by her family.  Janice was born in Wellsville, New York on February 18, 1947 a daughter of the late Beryle and Doris (Rogers) Barnett.  Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Wallace Patterson who died in 1986, a companion Donald Schmidt who died in 2002 and a brother Roger Barnett.

Janice was a graduate of Wellsville High School.  She worked for the former Champion Products in Perry for over 24 years and retired from Aldon Corp in Avon in 2013 after 13 years of service. She was a member of the former Moose Club in Perry, loved butterflies and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by 2 sons; Robert (Robin) Patterson of Gainesville, Wallace (Joyce) Patterson of Belfast, sisters: Grace Bogle of Perry, Laverne (Mark) Maxcy of Wellsville; a brother Dale (Tina) Barnett of Wellsville; sister-in-law Nancy Barnett of Hallsport; 5 grandchildren Nicole (Robert) Kinnaird, Cody Patterson, Logan Patterson, Tasha Patterson and Brandon Patterson; a great grandchild Summer Rain Kinnaird along with many nieces and nephews.

MICHAEL A.  "BOBO" FASANO, JR.

Age 83, of Batavia, former president and CEO of the V.J. Gautieri Construction Co. died peacefully Tuesday April 26, 2016 at his home under the care of his loving family family and Hospice. He was born August 18, 1932 in Batavia a son of the late Michael A. and Antoinetta (Penella) Fasano, Sr., also preceded in death by brother, Patrick, sisters, Natalie Cerreta, Angeline Lynch and former wife, Mary Ann (Pastecki) Fasano. 

Mr. Fasano was a graduate of Batavia High School and R.I.T. Construction Technology, he served our country honorably as a member of the U.S. Army, a member of the V.F.W. Veness Strollo Post #1602 and American Legion Post #332 of Batavia. A lifelong member of Ascension Parish (former St. Anthony's), its Holy Name Society, and received St. Joseph the Worker Award from the Diocese of Buffalo and the Parish in 1973. Michael was with the V.J. Gautieri Construction Co. for over 50 years where he oversaw the completion of numerous building projects in our area and throughout New York State and also served on the board of the Management Group at Washington Towers. 

Surviving is his daughter, Maria (Darryle) Streeter of Batavia and their children Julia and Benjamin; son, Michael A. Fasano, III of Batavia; beloved sister, Mary Francine Fasano, RSM (Sisters of Mercy) of Batavia; many nieces and nephews especially Geri (Joseph) Graff along with many great nieces, great nephews, cousins and his 4 legged companion, Duchess. 

Bobo's request was for family and friends to join and celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial 9:00am Saturday April 30 at Ascension Parish (Sacred Heart). Entombment will be in the Rev. T. Bernard Kelly Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery and memorials in his memory are suggested to St. Joseph's School 2 Summit Street Batavia or Notre Dame High School 73 Union Street Batavia, New York 14020.
