Maryjane (Perry) Thomas, 66 of Wellsville, passed away peacefully on Monday (April 25, 2016) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. Maryjane was born in Wellsville, NY on December 11, 1949 to the late Oland and Jean Perry. 

She is survived by her three sons and two grandchildren.  Chad (Tammy) Perry of Greensboro, NC,  Bruce (Chrystal) Burritt Jr of Orange, MA, Walter “Jake” Hilliard and his daughter Annabelle of Fredericksburg, VA and her granddaughter Porscha (Adam) Perry-Meade of Greensboro, NC.  Maryjane has four surviving sisters and three brothers;  Suzanne Amidon of Wellsville, Carol (Dick) Dodge of Wellsville, Lois Whiteman of Wellsville, Brenda (Don) Hays of Oswayo, PA,  Fred (Chickie) Perry of Wellsville, Ron (Linda) Perry of Friendship and Milt (Janet) Nolan of Cuba.  As well as many, many nieces, nephews and longtime friends Linda Woodworth, Connie Morris and Darcy Ennis. 

Maryjane was a 1968 graduate of Andover High and later received her accounting degree from Alfred State University. She volunteered for the Wellsville Ambulance for nearly 20 years and worked as a dispatcher for the Belmont Ambulance/Fire Department for 7 years. In 1996, she moved to North Carolina where she took up long haul trucking before retiring in Bassett, Virginia.  Jane was an active member of the American Vets Auxiliary, Moose Club and past Madame President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Collinsville, VA.  Jane loved cooking and baking. She owned MJ’s Cafe in Allentown for several years and loved treating family and friends to a big meal whenever she could.  Maryjane was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, enjoyed NASCAR, crocheting, playing cards and was looking forward to becoming a great grandmother this July. 

Graveside services will be held Saturday (April 30th), 12pm at Reed Cemetery (2635 Judge Rd. in Oakfield, NY).  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to F.O.E. Batavia - Irene M. Duckworth, 82, of Batavia, died Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Genesee County Nursing Home, in Batavia.

Irene was born January 16, 1934 in North Java, a daughter of the late Lee Roy and Ethel P. (Whitcomb) Duckworth.

She was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Batavia.

Survivors include 2 sons, Douglas (Pat Heaman) Meyers and Donald (Sally) Meyers both of Batavia, 2 sisters, Carol (Frank) Aquino of Elba and twin sister, Arlene (Robert) Demarest of Batavia; 4 grandchildren, Sarah Whiteside, Michael Meyers, Deanna Meyers and Matthew Meyers; several great-grandchildren. 

She was the sister of the late Howard Duckworth, Raymond Duckworth, Paul L. Duckworth, Carl Duckworth, Harold Duckworth, Willard Duckworth, Cleta Davis, Clara Snyder Ida Duckworth and Oma Reddick.

Michael Penkszyk, 91 of Alexander, passed away peacefully on Saturday (April 23, 2016) at his residence, with his daughters by his side.

He was born May 26, 1924 in Batavia, a son of the late John and Anna Bozak Penkszyk.

For several years Mr. Penkszyk was a truck driver for Consolidated Freightways and Railroad Express. He was the owner and operator of Penkszyk Farm in Alexander, which began with his parents. Mr. Penkszyk enjoyed cooking and gardening and was a lifelong parishioner of Ascension Parish (Sacred Heart Church) in Batavia.

He was the husband of the late Eleanor Krysczyk Penkszyk who died November 3, 1987 and father of the late Karen Penkszyk who died March 29, 2011.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ann Penkszyk, Rosemarie Penkszyk and Sharon Penkszyk, all of Alexander. Two sons, Michael Penkszyk Jr. of Tennessee and David Penkszyk of Virginia. Sisters in-law, Josephine Penkszyk of East Pembroke and Geraldine Penkszyk of North Carolina.  Also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

There will be no prior visitation. Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Carolyn Schutze Featherstun Martin Wandryk passed away February 17, 2016 at the age of 80 at the New York State Veteran’s Home in Batavia, N.Y., with loved ones near. 

Carolyn grew up with her brother, Steve, in Maplewood and South Orange, N.J., and summered in Southold. She loved Long Island and teaching third grade at Cutchogue East and Mattituck elementary schools for close to 30 years. She loved spending time with children and always had a smile and chuckle recalling many beautiful stories. To this day her students remember the fun they had in Mrs. Featherstun’s class and after marrying Jim Martin, Mrs. Martin’s class. Her passion for teaching never wavered.

Her son Bradley wrote, “Mom loved music and always filled our home with the sounds of the latest records she bought through the mail. Besides family, teaching and music her other true love were her many dogs, whom she loved dearly all of her life.”

After her beloved husband, Jim Martin, passed away she relocated to Batavia, living near her son Craig and his wife, Lori. While living in Batavia, she was blessed with another chance at love with a very special man named Frank Wandryk, whom she married in 2003. This expanded her family, blending her children and their families with Frank’s daughter Debbie, her husband, Terry, and their son, Jake; and his son, Frank Jr., all whom she loved very much. Carolyn’s sons Bradley and his wife, Marianne, and Doug and his wife, Kim, although miles away, were always with her in her heart.

Carolyn was lucky enough to have many grandchildren: CJ, Christopher, Shawn, JD, Mariella and Alyssa, all who loved their “Nana.” She loved being a grandmother and would light up when they were with her.

Mom, Nana, was loved and will be missed greatly. Her big smile and hearty laugh will be remembered always.

  Francis J. "Frank" Schreiber, age 64, of Castile, passed away on Thursday April 21, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Frank was born in Rochester, New York on November 5, 1951 a son of the Helen (Stein) Schreiber of Webster and the late William Schreiber.  Along with his father he is preceded in death by a son Duane who died in 1993, a sister Gene Braselton, and brother Peter Schreiber.

He was a graduate of Aquinas Institute of Rochester, Alfred State College, and received his Bachelor’s degree from University of Wisconsin at Platteville.  Frank was a member of St. Isidore’s Catholic Parish (St. Joseph’s Church) in Perry, the Knights of Columbus John Paul Chapter, Farm Bureau where he was a past President, and the Holstein Association. He enjoyed boating, skiing both snow and water, traveling, going for rides with the guys, and spending time with family.

Frank is survived by his wife whom he married on April 27, 1974 Diane (Reynolds) Schreiber, 2 sons: Eric (Lynnell) Schreiber of Perry and Steven (Joanne) Schreiber of Castile, a sister: Annie (Pepe) Neubauer of Naples, 3 brothers: William (Maureen) Schreiber Jr. of Newtown, Pa., Louis (Carol) Schreiber and Daniel (Clare) Schreiber both of Ontario, 4 grandchildren: Lacey, Connor, Abigail and Matthew Schreiber, along with many nieces and nephews.

  Arlette L. McIntyre, 76, of Perry passed away Thursday April 21, 2016 at Buffalo General Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born in Hornell, New York on February 6, 1940 a daughter of the late George and Fern (Houghtalin) Wambold.  Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Thomas McIntyre Sr. who died in 2003, and a sister Nancy Rook.

Arlette retired from the former Archway Cookies in Perry after 37 years of service where she was a machine operator/lead.She enjoyed playing bingo, going to weight watchers, picnics at the boat launch, watching basketball games, her favorite team the L.A. Lakers and always first on her list was spending time with family, especially with her grandchildren.

She is survived by 4 daughters;  Cindy (Marlene Bassett) McIntyre of Silver Springs, Brenda (Jan Newville) Jaggard of Gainesville, Tammy “Mike” (Bob Clark) Holmes of Silver Springs, Joan McIntyre of Perry, a son Thomas (Bethany) McIntrye II of Perry, a sister: Luella Harrington of Nunda, 2 brothers: George “Dutch” (Bert) Wambold of Rochester, Rodney “Skeeter” (Darlene) Wambold of Fl., 9 grandchildren: Jimmer (Krista Barone) Jaggard, Ben Jaggard, Korine (Andrew Speed) Robison, Michael Slocum, John “Spike” McIntyre, Curtis (Kara Kunst) McIntyre, Ernest Bogardus, Ashley McIntyre and Bryce McIntrye, 6 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Phoenix - Jean M. (Hankey) Parker, of Phoenix, formerly of Batavia and Rochester, passed away on March 17, 2016 in Phoenix, Arizona. 

She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Leon) Helton of Phoenix, and Margaret (Tom) Engells of Huston, Tx.; a granddaughter, Laura Engells; and a sister, JoAnne (Hankey) Patri of Batavia.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Kent Parker and her parents, E. Vincent and Leona (Reding) Hankey.

PHILIP A. SKILL

Age 72, of Batavia, former WBTA radio personality, died peacefully Tuesday April 19, 2016 at the New York State Veterans Home @ Batavia. He was born December 3, 1943 in Eggertsville, NY a son of the late Anthony and Dolores (Caterino) Skill, also preceded in death by a brother, John Skill. 

Mr. Skill served our country honorably as a member of the US Air Force who was with the USO in Korea during the Vietnam War. A member of Resurrection Parish (St. Mary's), he enjoyed their cottage in Canada, gardening and the many trips to Las Vegas that he and his wife made. Phil was one of the area’s top DJ’s remembered fondly for his distinct voice and trademark signoff, “This has been a Skillful Production”. He later worked and retired from Drummer PennySaver in Batavia. 

Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Billie (Hoffman) Skill of Batavia; loving daughters, Jill of Charlotte, NC and Kelly of Brooklyn, NY; siblings, Dolores (Joe) Russo of Rochester, Joan Skill of Williamsville; sister-in-law, Joan Skill of FL and his mother-in-law, Shelagh Hoffman of Batavia. 

The family requests all to join them in celebrating Phil's Mass of Christian Burial 10:00am Monday April 25 Resurrection Parish (St. Mary's Site). Burial will be at Grand View Cemetery and memorials in his memory are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

Carla J. Wright, 47, of Alexander, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday April 20, 2016 in Attica. She was born on December 29, 1968 in Batavia, NY to Joseph (Diane) L. Bridge of Elba and Joyce E. Smith of Aliquippa, PA.

Carla was a member of the Alexander Fire Department and the Beachhead Veterans Club.  She was a Medic at the Western New York Gas & Steam Engine Association and a Medic at Darien Lake Theme Park.

In addition to her parents she is survived by her daughter; Andrea (Stephen Doty) Kirch of Batavia; son Steven Wright of Alexander;  5 grandchildren; Hannah, Shane and Sabrina Kirch, Elijah and Ivey Doty; sister Gina (Jerry) Delelys and brother Todd (Stacey) Gallup.

Ethel M. O’Geen, 93, of Brockport, formally of Batavia passed away peacefully on Thursday April 21, 2016 at the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Facility in Rochester.  She was born on May 25, 1922 in Hornell, NY to the late Lester and Lena (Northrup) Bailey.  In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Lester O’Geen and 9 siblings.

“Grandma O” loved her music and was quite a dancer.  She rode her bike until she was 79 years young, Independent at heart and a loving soul who now dances with the angels in heaven.

She is survived by her daughter; Gayla (David) Starowitz of Byron; grandchildren Jeffrey Starowitz and Cathy (Michael) Parsons; great grandchildren Nathan and Kelly Parsons, Ruger and Gunner Starowitz along with several nieces and nephews.

Batavia - Mr. F. Richard Grimes, 89 of Batavia passed away on April 19, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Grimes was born October 11, 1926 in Batavia, the only child of the late Francis A. and Dorothy (Merrill) Grimes.

Dick is survived by his lovi

ng wife, Mary Lou (Reigle) whom he married on May 12, 1956.

Mr. Grimes retired in 1992 after 44 years employed by the Genesee County Highway Department.  It was not far off the 47 1/2 years that his father, the late Francis A. Grimes logged with the city of Batavia Fire Department.

A longtime member of St. Joseph's Church, he was a member of the former Elks Club, Loyal Order of the Moose and St. Nicholas Club.  Dick was a member of Mighty St. Joe's Drum Corp since 1939.  He started playing horn and moved onto the baritone.  He also played with the Legion Corp and Brockport Grenadiers.

Dick served in the Philippine Campaign during World War II with the United States Army.  He was a member of the Veness-Strollo Post No. 1602 Veterans of Foreign War.

Dick had a deep love and passion for Fire Trucks.  Dick amassed a substantial collection of them over the years and took great pride in them.  He always had a story to tell and loved telling them to anyone who would listen.  Dick was a longtime patron of the Pok-A-Dot restaurant visiting on a regular basis.

Other survivors include:  Son, Gregory (Lois) Grimes of Oakfield: Daughters Colleen (Dave) Ronan of St. Cloud, Florida, Kathie (Chris Roberts) Grimes-Goras of Batavia. His grandchildren: Matthew (Molly) of Alexander, LS2(SW) Timothy S. Grimes, MCAS Cherry Point, NC; David (April) Ronan of St. Cloud, Florida, Daniel Ronan of Orlando, Florida, Megan and Nathan Goras of Batavia. His great grandchildren: Mae, Myles, and Maura and another Grimes baby due in early May 2016. Gunner and Gemma Ronan of St.Cloud, Florida.  Several Cousins, Nieces and nephews also survive.

Dick cherished all of his grandchildren, but he had a special bond with his only Granddaughter Megan. He loved visiting Disney World in Florida to see his favorite princess Snow White.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia. Marvin F. Talbot, 81, of Rochester, formally of Batavia passed away on April 19, 2016 at Unity Hospital in Rochester.  He was born on September 24, 1934 in Batavia to the late Edward and Dorothy (Buchman) Talbot. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his loving wife, Nancy (Mellanthen) Talbot; brothers Bobby and Kenneth Talbot and grandson Douglas Wandtke.

Dad loved playing baseball and bowling when he was younger. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran who was honorably discharged on November 13, 1961. He loved his family and missed his wife, Nancy after she died in 2013.  He loved spending time with family and friends. He was a kind and caring husband, father and grandfather who was always there to help everyone in his family. He will be missed deeply.

He is survived by his children; Theresa (Bob) Dearcop of Corfu, Kathleen (Cliff) Platek of Batavia, Marvin (Victoria) Talbot of Indianapolis, Lanny Talbot of Rochester, Jeannine (Jody) Balon of Attica; Brothers Melvin, David (Lori) and Harold (Jean) Talbot; sisters Carol (Arnie) Baker, Betty (Ronnie) Groff, Sandra (Howard) Brew and Elanor Kraus; 21grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Franklyn M. Knapp, 85, of Batavia passed away on Saturday April 16, 2016 at New York State Veterans Home in Batavia. He was born August 3, 1930 in Auburn, New York to late John (Vera Greenizen) Knapp. Mr. Knapp is preceded in death by his beloved wife Noreen M. (Baudendistel) Knapp.

Mr. Knapp served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a Lab Technician for nearly 50 years retiring from United Memorial Medical Center. Mr. Knapp was a member of the Model Airplane and Model Railroad Club along with being a Gun Club member and also the Alexander Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his son John Knapp of Batavia; daughters Patricia (Wayne Burgess) Knapp of Marcellus; Barbara Knapp of Auburn and step son David Merritt of Stafford; grandchildren Matthew Hawker, Chelsea and Aaron Holbein; a great-grandchild Austin Hawker and ex-spouse, Aletha Knapp.

KAREN A. LAMKIN

Age 66, of Batavia, died peacefully Friday afternoon April 15, 2016 at Strong Memorial Hospital, her family at her side. She was born July 8, 1949 in Batavia, NY, daughter of the late Nicholas and Sara (Bucceri) Church also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Biegas. 

Karen was a member of Resurrection Parish and a self-employed hairdresser for many years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, trips to the casino and was an avid bowler. Karen was an animal lover, especially cats, a sports fan who followed the New Yankees, Buffalo Bills and Sabres. Her greatest joy was time spent with her husband, children and their families.

Surviving is her husband of 39 years, Richard Lamkin of Batavia; children, Candi Biegas of Batavia and her daughter, Alexis Warfle, Brandi (Joseph Barbato) Lamkin of Batavia and their son, Blake Barbato, Christine (Pete Gravante) Thornley and her children, Matthew Thornley and Christopher (Trish Smith) Thornley, Paul (Christine) Lamkin and their daughter, Rachael (Jessie) Weaver, Richard (Michelle) Lamkin and their children, Raymond (Amy Schmidt) Feldman, Ritchie & Nicholas Lamkin along with 2 great-grandchildren. 

The family will be present from 2-4 & 7-9pm on Tuesday April 19, 2016 at the MICHAEL S.
