Sande L. Vincent, 46 of Enola, PA, entered into heaven to join her sister, Brandi Vincent on May 10, 2022, after a long battle with cancer.

Sande is survived by her Mother, Joyce (Lester) Pilc of Enola, PA and Father, Danny (Debbie) Vincent of Corfu, NY. She is also survived by her brother, Philip (Cammie) Pilc of North Tonawanda, NY, grandmother, Anna Balicki of Batavia, niece Sierra Booker, nephews Codie Cronk and Trevor Booker, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sande had many loves in her life, one her cuddle buddy Odie (cat) and had a special relationship with two little ladies - Alannah and Lyric.

Family and friends may gather at the C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc., 4 East Main Street, Corfu, on Monday, May 16th from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by burial at Hillside Cemetery, Angling Road, Corfu, NY.

Ron Ginter, a devoted servant of Christ, departed this world April 28, 2022 and entered his eternal home surrounded by loved ones at Baptist Medical Center, Jacksonville, Fl.  He was 88.

Ron was born on October 22, 1933 to William Ginter and Bertha (Klane) Ginter in Detroit, Michigan. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Bernadine (Hinkel) Ginter of Jacksonville, Florida; brother, Leland Ginter of Clarkston, Michigan; daughter, Linda (Lynn) Eick of Batavia; sons, the late Mark Ginter of Florida, Stephen (Tonya) Ginter of North Carolina, late daughter-in-law Ronda Ginter, William (Cathy) Ginter of St. Johns, Florida; Grandchildren; Matthew, Jennifer, Daniel, David Eick, Christa (Tyler) Evans, Mariah (Matt) Horton, Arriel Campbell, Chad Ginter, Joshua Terrell, Alicia Terrell. Great Grandchildren, Edward, Maggie, Noelle, Grayson, Reese, Jordan, Jayden, Destiny, Caleb and Dillon. Devoted friends Connie Rogers, Jamie and Bella Laakman.

Ron graduated from Cass Technical High School, Detroit, Michigan. After serving his country in the US Air Force he followed his calling and received his diploma from Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Illinois.

Congregations served by this faithful man of God;  Granville, Ohio, Christ Lutheran, Oil City, Pa. Luther Memorial, Blackwood, NJ, St. Paul Lutheran, Batavia, NY.

He penned Lord, I Believe, a weekly article published in the Batavia Daily News. 

After “retiring” in 1995 he continued serving as a visiting or interim minister in St. Matthew, Rochester, NY, Faith Lutheran, Elma, NY, Concordia (Hope) Brockport, NY, Trinity Lutheran, Spencerport, NY, St. John, Hamlin, NY, St. Luke, Cheektowaga, NY, First Trinity, Tonawanda, NY, St. Johns, Farmington, NY. Despite suffering a stroke while on vacation in Florida he continued to serve his Lord by preaching the Gospel. He held Bible Class and Worship Services in the Senior Living Community of Calusa Harbor, Fort Myers and Brookdale Southside, Jacksonville, Fl. up until the week he left this life. 

“The ultimate last in life is eternity in heaven, God grant us all the grace in Christ Jesus to focus on the ultimate last, the day when we hear the Good Shepherd Say: Come, O blessed of my Father, and inherit the Kingdom prepared for you.” Quote from Lord, I Believe, by Rev. Ginter.

Riga - Kim Maureen McGiveron, 60, of Riga, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday (May 11, 2022) at her home.

She was born June 23, 1961 in Batavia, a daughter of Ronald and Mary Jane (Dillon) Heywood of East Bethany.

Kim was a graduate of Pavilion Central School, GCC, and she earned her bachelor's degree at Brockport State College. She was a bookkeeper for several local businesses, and an employee of Lenape.

She was a member and dedicated Deacon and Elder of the East Bethany Presbyterian Church, and also attended the Congregational Church of Riga. Kim was a loving, kind, thoughtful, giving person who always put others first; she will be sadly missed. We have lost a very bright light in our family, but she'll shine brightly in Heaven.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her fiance, Jerry Clark of Riga; daughter Danielle (Timothy) Dosch of Florida; son, Shawn McGiveron of Warsaw; grandchildren, McKenzie and Savannah; brothers, Doug (Peg) Heywood of East Bethany, and Richard (Melissa) Heywood of Tennessee; sisters, Bonnie (Ken) Morgan of Tennessee, and Linda (Randy) Page of Batavia. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive.

  Gerard A Cote, age 77, of Attica passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the NY State Veterans Home in Batavia NY. Gerard was born on May 26, 1944 in Manchester NH to the late Arthur J and Germaine Desfosses Cote. He is predeceased by his wife Jacqueline Kingston Cote, his brother Ronald W Cote, his daughter Tasha Sergel and granddaughter Cassidy Garrow. 

He was a graduate of Manchester High School Central class of 1962. He served in the US Air Force during Vietnam from 1962 to 1966 as a jet aircraft mechanic. He earned his BS in Business Administration from the University of Lowell in Lowell MA in 1977. He retired from The Attica Correctional Facility in 2004 where he had worked for 20+ years. He had worked for Bluebird Bus Co. as a coach driver, Kollsman Instrument Co. in Merrimack NH as a Sr Engineering Planner and for Sanders Associates Inc in Nashua NH as a Material Planner. 

Gerard was a member of The American Legion Post 734 in Attica. He was also a member of the Attica Rod & Gun Club.

Gerard is survived by his children Piper (Dana) Sharick of Corfu , Melissa (Richard) Blake of NH , Sarah ( Danny) Hall of NC , Cheri Ruck of Attica, Bobby Maples of TN , Julie Maples of Attica , Thomas  (Lisa) Doucette of AR, Robin Doucette of MA and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jean L. Jackson, 91 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Friday (May 6, 2022) at The Grand Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born May 22, 1930 in Buffalo, NY, a daughter of the late Fred and Henrietta Huber Ebert.

Jean was a former social worker for Genesee Memorial Hospital, St. Jerome Hospital and Hospice. She also served on the Board of Directors for Crossroads House, which was very dear to her. She enjoyed swimming, talking books, gardening and her guiding eyes dogs. Jean will be missed by all who knew her gentle heart.

Survivors include a son and daughter in-law. Craig (Loretta) Jackson of Batavia. Grandchildren, Ashley Fauth of Batavia and Dennis (Jennifer) Alexander of South Carolina. Great-grandson, Derek. Nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Arlene Nuwer.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Irma F. Hurst , age 86, of Castile passed away on Monday May 9, 2022 at home. She was born on April 12,1936 in Buffalo, NY a daughter to the late Walter J. and Ella Viola ((Durkee) Fox.
Irma was a 1952 graduate of Fosdick Masten High School in Buffalo.

She was a sales representative for Avon Products for many years, worked as a realtor for the former Ray Baker Real Estate, former Librarian at the Wyoming Public Library, helped with her husband on running the Hurst Acres Dairy farm on Fisher Road in Warsaw from 1972-2000.  Irma was a member of the United Church in Warsaw where she played the organ from 1974-2010. She had a total of 68 years playing organ for churches in Buffalo to Honeoye. She was a member of the Warsaw Eastern Star for many years. She enjoyed taking care of all her grandchildren before the entered school. She enjoyed cooking, baking, the love of music and gardening.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years John R. Hurst whom she married on November 7, 1953, son: John W. (Debbie) Hurst of Wyoming, daughter: Rebecca S. (Thomas) Bush of Perry, 6 grandchildren: Amanda (Scott) Savidge, Jared (Jennifer) Hurst, Lauren Shearing, Colin (Andie) Shearing, Mikayla and Matthew Bush, 4 great grandchildren Justin and Brennan Savidge, Clare Hurst and Bryson Shearing, along with many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents she was predeceased in death by a son: Paul S. Hurst who passed away in 2000, siblings: Pearl Thompson, Inez Houseknecht and Leonard Fox.

He was born September 18, 1936 in Warsaw, NY a son of the late Harold Aiken and Louise (Safford) Griffith. He was a United States Navy Korean War Veteran and served from 1954-1958 and was a United States Air Force Vietnam Veteran and served from 1958-1966. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #1720 in Bliss, NY and was a former Commander, a member of AMVETS and the Bliss Masonic Lodge. He loved playing guitar, riding motorcycles and was a member of H.O.G.

He was a mechanic for National Fuel in Mineral Springs, NY.

He is survived by his children: Robi A. (Gregory) Aiken of Bliss, Tracey Olsowsky of Joliet, IL, Robert A. Aiken of Tucson, AZ, Becky J. (Todd Wallin) Aiken of Buffalo, Connie (Chuck) Embling of Mumford, David (Debbie Long) Gilbert of Bliss and Donna (George) Wright of Machias; also survived by 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wives: Sharon F. Conley, Eleanor J. Aiken and Sandy C. Aiken; his siblings: Loretta (Louie) Richnole and Lynn Aiken; as well as a grandchild.

  Jade Lynn LaForce, 29, of Dansville, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022. She was born December 24, 1992 in Rochester to Joseph R. (Pam Loncao) LaForce and Dawn R. Jakubaszek. She is predeceased by her grandparents, Bob and Jane LaForce, Isabel “Dee Dee” and Joseph Jakubaszek, uncles Jim Meter and Joe Chase.

Jade was artistic, and nerdy, awkward, yet fierce. She lived her life unapologetically doing what she wanted, like rooting for the Cleveland Browns even though she’s from a family of Bills fans. Jade had the admirable gift of seeing the beauty in things that others would not have. Whether that be her passion in helping animals big or small, or the joy she felt weeding her vegetable garden. But what most will say about Jade is that she brought love and joy to the lives of so many.

If you were lucky enough to know Jade, you were taken in with open arms to her own unique world filled with mom jokes, heavy metal and endless movie quotes. In Jade’s memory, continue ‘livin the dream’ and even if it sounds corny, don’t ever let no one tell you, you ain’t beautiful.

Michael J. Warner, 79, of East Bethany, passed away on May 9, 2022.

Michael was born July 17,1942 in Batavia, the son of the late LaVerne and Ruth (Nevin) Warner.

After his retirement from Kodak, Mike owned and operated his own business, Auldtech.  He was a Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed target practice and computers.  A veteran, he served with the United States Marines, with part of his service in Okinawa.

Surviving are his sons, Tim (Jill) Warner of Rochester, Barry (Jen) Warner of Batavia and Jeremy (Lindsay) Warner of LeRoy; grandchildren, Victoria Warner, Leyna Warner, Alexis (Tanner) Smith, Caleb Warner, Dylan Warner, Allessanda Warner, Brody Warner, Anthony Warner, Michael Warner, John Warner and Lia Warner; two great-grandchildren, Adaline Smith and Sienna Smith and two nieces, Amy (Nate) Johnson and Erin Albee.

Preceded in death by his wife, Linda Warner and son, Ryan Warner.

Batavia - Jason E. Phelan, 48 of Batavia, passed away on Wednesday, (May 4, 2022) at his home in Batavia.

Mr. Phelan was born September 12, 1973 in Binghamton, a son of Patricia A. (late Henry) Larson of Batavia.

Jason was an avid NY Jets fan. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his dog/best friend Max.

Along with his mother, Jason is survived by his children, Ashley (Phelan) Demmer, Christopher Phelan, and Richard Phelan all of Batavia, and Jason Phelan, Jr. of Geneva; his sister, Teresa "Trixie" (Raymond) Eighmey of Pavilion. Several grandchildren also survive.

Peter L. Bartz, 90 of Alexander, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Buffalo General Hospital. He was born December 26, 1931 in Alexander, to the late Alfred and Mary (Geitner) Bartz. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Clarice W. (Mower) Bartz, sister and brother-in-law, Catherine (Roger) Timm, son-in-law Hugh Graff.

Mr. Bartz was a longtime member of Sts. Joachim & Anne Parish in Attica. He began working on his uncles farm before going to Attica Lumber, he then retired as Head Janitor for Alexander Elementary School. Mr. Bartz was a very talented carpenter, he did electrical and plumbing as well. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his children, Paul (Janice) of Rochester, Daniel (Patricia) of E. Bethany, Steven (Della) Bartz of Byron, Barbara Graff of Corfu; siblings, Mary Ann (Richard) Scharlau of Alexander, David (Sherry) Bartz of Honeoye; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

Margaret “Margie” Mager, 75, of Alexander, NY passed away on May 7^th, 2022 at UMMC surrounded by her loving family.  She was born March 19, 1947, in Warsaw, NY, daughter of Lewis and Lucille (Richardson) Acomb.  She was preceded in death by daughter Kathleen and brother Clarence.

Margie will always be remembered for her brilliant smile.  She lived a life of kindness, care, compassion, advocacy, and love.  She loved her family deeply. 

Margie attended Alexander Central School followed by the Wyoming County Community School of Nursing.  She began her career at Genesee Memorial Hospital as an RN in the Pediatrics Department eventually becoming head nurse before shifting her career to become a Certified Diabetes Educator.  She was one of the driving forces in achieving the American Diabetes Association (ADA) National Recognition of UMMC’s Diabetes Education Program and managed it until retirement in 2013.  She coordinated many annual Diabetes Alert programs for the community as well as ADA walks.  She served on the board of the Western New York ADA, was a founding member of the Western New York Association of Diabetes Educators, and served as president of the group for a time.  She was a passionate educator and advocate for those living with diabetes.  In 2007, she received the WNY Diabetes Educator of the Year award. 

Margie married the absolute love of her life, Frank, on August 16, 1969.  She enjoyed life with him including their many trips to the Thousand Islands.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and loved spending time with her family.  She valued her friendships and created many fond memories with her friends.  She will be dearly missed and always remembered.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Frank Mager; her children Cheryl (Walter) Hersom and Christine (Onur) Oz; her grandchildren Annaliese, Hope, Frank, Samuel, Eren, and Ethem, along with many nieces and nephews.

  Sean Edward O’Toole, 54, Lyons, NY passed away on May 2, 2022, surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer.

Sean graduated from Lyons High School in 1986 and continued his college education at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.  He lived in Florida for 10 years before returning home to be closer to family.  Sean started his sign business, Signtec and ran that for many years.  He met his wife, Meghan, in 2004 and they married in 2013.  They run their business 31Sheds in Lyons.  Sean loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles and snowmobiling.  He really enjoyed a good game of pool with friends.  Sean was a huge Minnesota Vikings fan.  Sean and Meghan have a beautiful camp on the Moose River, where they have enjoyed making memories with their children, family and friends.  Sean’s greatest accomplishment in life was becoming a father to his two daughters Ivy and Teagan.  If you know Sean, you know that he did not just follow the path of life; he blazed his own trail.

Sean is survived by his wife Meghan (Dash) O’Toole, daughters, Ivy and Teagan;  parents, Ted and Sharon O’Toole; sister Holly (Marc) Kreuser; nieces Megan and Grace; nephew, Ryan; and dearest friend Lucas Dobbins and many other friends.

  Arleen L. Mortellaro, 81, of East Pembroke, NY, widow of Frank S. Mortellaro went to be with the Lord on May 6^th, 2022. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank in 1991. Her parents Merton (Danny) Parker (2000) and Eva Vaughn Parker (2003) brother Robert Parker (1952) Stepsons Frank Mortellaro Jr. and Michael Mortellaro.

Surviving are her three sons; Dan and Todd Mortellaro of Batavia, Scott Mortellaro (E. Pembroke); Stepson David (Lisa) Mortellaro (Virginia); Grandchildren Brehana (Ben) Leyo of Tennessee. Nathan (Mariah) Mortellaro of Michigan, Melissa and Benny Mortellaro (Virginia) Aunt Alice Zacher; Brother-in-laws Tony (Shirley) Mortellaro, Joe Mortellaro, Dick (Kathy) Mortellaro, along with numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She married the love of her life Frank on April 9^th 1965.  Since Frank had three boys already Mom wanted a baby girl. After three tries they were blessed with three more boys. Her boys were everything to her. She was a devoted wife and mother. She will be dearly missed by her children and grandchildren. We are consoled that she is now at peace and not suffering anymore.

  Judy Ann Chapell, 80, of Oakfield passed away on May 5, 2022 at her home on Maple Ave. She was born on April 7, 1942 in Batavia, the daughter of the late Erwin “Curley” and A. Muriel (Jenkins) Chapell. In addition to her parents, Judy is predeceased by her siblings Erwin Chapell, Nancy Dersam, Linda Chapell, Jeanette (Richard) Moore, Roger (Carol) Kirkpatrick; brothers in law Oscar Kessler and Dayton Schultz Sr.

Judy was active in the Premier Genesee Day Program. They would do crafts and eat lunch together. She enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and watching Westerns on T.V.  Judy’s greatest love was going to Batavia Muckdogs Baseball games, and she loved singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”. Judy was loved by all the staff and residents where she lived and she loved them all back.

She is survived by her sisters; Carolyn Schultz and Norma Kessler; sister in law Carol Kirkpatrick, along with many nieces and nephews.

An 11:00AM Funeral Service will be held immediately following the visitation at the Funeral Home. Judy will be laid to rest in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Elba.
