Accident in Le Roy reported on Griswold Road

A motor-vehicle accident involving a tree, with one person sustaining a possible leg and neck injury, is reported in Le Roy on Griswold Road, just west of Route 19. The patient is conscious and alert. Le Roy Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. First responders report roads are icy.

UPDATE 11:15 p.m.: Chief on scene reports the patient is out of the vehicle.

UPDATE 11:17 p.m.: The Le Roy assignment is back in service.

Fire reported in living room of residence on Richley Road in Darien

A third-party caller reports a living room fire in a residence at 1781 Richley Road in Darien. Darien Fire Department and Ambulance Service are responding, along with Mercy medics. The location is between Colby and Harper roads.

UPDATE 6:58 p.m.: An engine and manpower from Corfu are called to respond as mutual aid.

UPDATE 7:04 p.m.: A chief on scene says units responding can continue in nonemergency mode as a precaution; a thermal-imaging camera will be deployed.

UPDATE 7:34 p.m.: The Darien and Corfu assignments are back in service.

Three-car collision reported on Veterans Memorial Drive

A three-car accident that is blocking traffic is reported in the area of 4140 Veterans Memorial Drive, in front of Planet Fitness. "Appears to be no injuries at this time -- a couple of people are shaken up," says a first responder on scene.

Town of Batavia Fire Department, law enforcement and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 12:36 p.m.: Fluids are leaking from the vehicles.

UPDATE 12:38 p.m.: Speedy Dry and some brooms and shovels are needed.

Head-on collision in front of Crosby's in Le Roy

A head-on collision is reported in front of Crosby's convenience store at 110 W. Main St. in Le Roy, between West Avenue and Royal Drive. A female was trapped, but has self-extricated.

Le Roy fire and ambulance are responding. Pavilion fire is asked to stand by in quaters; and an ambulance from Caledonia is also called to the scene

Fire police are needed for traffic control to shut down Route 5 at Gilbert Street.

UPDATE 7:17 p.m.: Caledonia's ambulance is cancelled.

Rollover accident reported on North Bergen Road in Bergen

A single-vehicle rollover accident is reported at 7285 North Bergen Road, Bergen. Bergen Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. The location is between Wood Road and West Sweden Road.

UPDATE 1:58 p.m.: Byron's rescue truck is called to respond. The lone occupant, the driver, is reportedly able to talk but is pinned inside and extraction is needed.

UPDATE 2:02 p.m.: Law enforcement on scene confirms the patient is conscious, entrapped, and bleeding from a head injury.

UPDATE 2:04 p.m.: The vehicle landed on its side.

UPDATE 2:06 p.m.: A first responder reports a utility pole was struck. There are no wires down, but the pole is cracked at the base.

UPDATE 2:21 p.m.: Mercy Flight was called, then cancelled.

Black Mazda zooming over 100 mph toward Le Roy on Route 5

A black Mazda is reportedly going more than a 100 miles an hour eastbound on Route 5 from the Department of Social Services complex on east Main Street, Batavia, toward Le Roy. It is said to be weaving in and out of traffic. Deputies are responding and Le Roy is notified.

Shed fire reported on Byron Road in Stafford

A shed fire about 50 feet behind a residence is reported at 8050 Byron Road, Stafford. Unknown contents of the shed. The location is between the Thruway and School Road. Stafford fire is responding.

UPDATE 3:07 p.m.: A first responder confirms this is a working fire, 60 to 70 feet behind the residence. Responders are told to come in non-emergency mode. There is no water hyrdrant available.

UPDATE 3:14 p.m.: South Byron fire is called to the scene.

UPDATE 3:16 p.m.: Shed fire is out, command reports.

UPDATE 3:17 p.m.: South Byron is put back in service.

UPDATE 3:44 p.m.: Command requests an investigator to the scene.

UPDATE 3:47 p.m.: It is agreed a Sheriff's deputy should respond to the fire scene first "to see what we have" before bringing in an investigator.

Accident with possible entrapment reported in Alabama

A two-vehicle accident is reported in Alabama at Ledge and Maple roads. There's possible entrapment in one of the vehicles. Alabama Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 1:29 p.m.: The accident is blocking traffic in the southbound lane of Maple Road, according to a first responder.

UPDATE 1:31 p.m.: There is no entrapment. A second ambulance is called and both can proceed in non-emergency mode. An occupant in each vehicle complains of pain in their lower extremities.

Pile-up on westbound Route 490

A multiple vehicle accident is reported on westbound Route 490 at mile marker 2.0. A car fire erupted and it was knocked down quickly with a fire extinguisher, but now it's smoking again, and an SUV is engulfed in flames. No one is trapped. One male is complaining of chest pain.

A first responder says "it's a mess out here," with multiple cars off both sides of the roadway. Le Roy and Bergen are both called along with Le Roy ambulance and law enforcement. A Mercy rig is called, too. Two people appear to have minor injuries; at least five people will need to be evaluated altogether.

Now there's another crash on the Maltby Road Bridge reported, and yet another a half mile from that.

UPDATE 12:21 p.m.: There are another five vehicles off the road on the eastbound 490.

UPDATE 12:28 p.m.: First responders say the roadway is slick and icy and it's snowing.

UPDATE 12:39 p.m.: Stafford is called stand by in quarters for Bergen.

UPDATE 1:22 p.m.: Bergen's assignment to the westbound 490 is back in service.

UPDATE 2:01 p.m.: Stafford is released and back in service.

Big rig and car collide on Cedar Street in the city, no injuries

A tractor-trailer vs. car accident is reported in front of the DeWitt Recreation Area on Cedar Street in the City of Batavia. No injuries; driver of vehicle is out, conscious and alert. There was air bag deployment and fluids are leaking. City fire and Mercy medics are responding along with police.

Accident with injuries reported on Route 77 in Alabama

A two-car accident with injuries is reported in Alabama on Route 77 north of Judge Road. It is partially blocking traffic. A female has an ankle injury and another person has abdominal pain.

Mercy medics and Alabama Fire Department are responding. A second ambulance from Medina is called for mutual aid. 

Fire police are asked to divert southbound traffic to the west at Judge Road and northbound traffic to the east at Ham Road for now.

(Responders are advised that a second accident is in the area -- at 7006 Alleghany Road, just south of Judge Road. There is one patient with a minor injury in that accident.)

UPDATE 7:21 a.m.: One of the patients is a sign-off. Two flatbed tows are called.

UPDATE 7:59 a.m. (by Howard): All units back in service. The road is reopened.

Chimney fire reported on Harrold Square in the city

A chimney fire is reported at 6 Harrold Square in the City of Batavia. City fire is responding.

UPDATE 6:28 p.m.: A first responder says this is a one-story wood-frame house with embers coming out of the chimney.

UPDATE 6:32 p.m.: The occupants have exited the structure.

Tree blocking traffic on South Lake Road, Darien

On South Lake Road near Genesee Street in Darien a tree is completely down in the roadway, blocking traffic, according to a dispatcher. County Highway Department is being notified and a deputy is responding.

UPDATE 12:54 p.m.: A deputy reports someone has come along and cut up the tree and removed most of it from the roadway, although there some debris remains. County Highway's response is cancelled.

One-vehicle rollover on Clinton Street Road, Stafford

A one-vehicle rollover accident is reported at 5743 Clinton Street Road in Stafford. An elderly female driver complains of neck and severe back pain and difficulties moving extremities. There was no air bag deployment.

A first responder says the driver may have had a medical issue. Mercy Flight is called to the scene. Mercy medics and Stafford fire have arrived.

UPDATE 5:02 p.m.: Genesee County Sheriff's deputies are on scene.

UPDATE 5:14 p.m.: Mercy Flight was cancelled. A resident of the road who witnessed the accident, Darrell Wright, said the vehicle left the roadway at the site of the former Oderkirk Farm property at a high rate of speed. It went through the field where many sunflowers used to grow, became airborne a couple of times, went through a grassy area, and landed on its wheels between two trees in front of a house (but did not strike the trees). The patient has just been extricated and is being stabilized for ground transport to a hospital. A flatbed tow truck is called to respond.

UPDATE 5:25 p.m.: First responders say they believe the accident stemmed from a medical issue. They confirmed there indeed was no air bag deployment. The patient will be taken to Strong Memorial Hospital.

Caller reports Lab mix locked in crate since Thursday

A mixed Labrador retreiver apparently did not have a happy Thanksgiving. A caller to dispatch reports the dog has been locked inside a crate since Thursday. Batavia police are responding to a lower apartment in the first block of Oak Street.

Accident reported in Darien on Walker Road

A motor-vehicle accident is reported in Darien at 2198 Walker Road. A black mini van is in a ditch. Darien fire and ambulance are responding. 

A Mercy rig is also called in non-emergency mode. A first responder reports occupants are out; minor injuries.

The location is between Smithley and Simonds roads.

UPDATE 5:16 p.m.: A flatbed tow is called for the Chrysler mini van.

UPDATE 5:19 p.m.: Mercy's response is cancelled by command.

Accident with injuries reported on Ellicott Street Road, Bethany

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported at 5488 Ellicott Street Road, Bethany. The location is between Main Road and Clapsaddle Road. Stafford Fire Department and Mercy medics are also responding.

UPDATE 4:23 p.m.: Fire police are responding for traffic control.

UPDATE 4:31 p.m.: Injuries do not appear to be serious according to a first responder.

UPDATE 5:05 p.m.: A sedan was pulling out of a driveway onto northbound Route 63 and it pulled into the path of a southbound Chevrolet. No one in the sedan was injured. The two occupants of the Chevrolet were sitting up and talking with medics and were going to be transported to a hospital for evaluation. The investigation is ongoing. It is unknown at this time whether citatations will be issued.

Chimney fire reported on Cole Road

A chimney fire that is possibly extending into the house is reported at 6821 Cole Road. Le Roy Fire Department is responding along with mutual aid from Bergen, Byron and the city's FAST team.

Le Roy ambulance is also responding.

A first responder says the residence is evacuated and there's heavy smoke inside the residence. It's gone to a second alarm.

The location is between Sweetland Road and East Bethany Le Roy Road.

UPDATE 3:46 p.m.: Engines from Stafford and Pavilion called to the scene. Town of Batavia is to fill in for Le Roy. The city's first platoon is called to city fire headquarters.

UPDATE 4:06 p.m.: Caledonia is asked to stand by with Batavia at Le Roy's fire hall. Thermal cameras are deployed at the scene.

UPDATE 4:29 p.m.: City FAST team went back in service at least 15 minutes ago. And Caledonia was released from service as well.

UPDATE 4:33 p.m.: Pavilion is put back in service.

UPDATE 4:37 p.m.: Stafford is back in service.

UPDATE 4:40 p.m.: Bergen is back in service.

Car vs. bicyclist accident reported at West Main and Montclair Avenue in the city

A car vs. bicyclist accident is reported in the city at West Main Street and Montclair Avenue. City fire, police and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 2 p.m.: The bicyclist was standing up next to the bicycle when first responders arrived. The person has minor injuries and was taken to UMMC for evaluation. A female driver was southbound on Montclair Avenue and went to make a right-hand turn into West Main Street when the accident occurred. She says she looked both ways and it was clear, then the bicyclist suddenly appeared in front of her. The driver was not injured.
