A three-vehicle accident with at least two people injured is reported in Bergen at Route 19 and Peachey Road. It is blocking the northbound traffic lane and fluids are leaking. One person complains of chest pain and another has an unspecified injury. Bergen Fire Department is responding along with two Mercy ambulances.

UPDATE 8:11 a.m.: The second ambulance is cancelled. One person possibly will be transported to a hospital; two others are sign-offs. Route 19 will be shut down at Creamery and Sackett Roads and traffic control is needed.

UPDATE 8:32 a.m.: Two flatbed tows are requested to the scene.

Batavia police are looking for assistance identifying a DoorDash delivery driver involved in an accident that occurred on Wednesday, March 17 at about 8:30 p.m. on Norris Avenue in the City of Batavia.

(Norris is east of State Street and runs north and south between Hart Street and Fairmont Avenue.)

The operator was driving a dark-colored, older-model compact truck.

A motor-vehicle accident in the area of 62 S. Main St., Elba, is blocking traffic in the Village of Elba.

The location is by the Central School and Crosby's convenience store. 

It is apparently a noninjury accident but the car ran up the guy wire of a utility pole. A tow will be required.

A one-vehicle accident is reported in the area of 6369 W. Sweden Road, Bergen.

The initial call reported a person was trapped and Mercy Flight was put on ground standby.

A chief on scene reports the occupant is out of the vehicle and walking around and Mercy Flight can stand down.

Bergen fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

All units can respond nonemergency.

On April 10 at 10:12 p.m., Troopers out of New York State Police Batavia responded to Lockport Road in the Town of Oakfield for an ATV collision.

Further investigation revealed that a 2014 Can Am Outlander was traveling northbound on Bliss Road and crossed Lockport Road. The ATV exited the intersection and struck a rock embankment, causing the ATV to overturn several times.

The operator, Thomas S. Butler, 43, of Oakfield, was ejected and deceased at the scene. The 55-year-old passenger was also ejected with non-life-threatening injuries. The 55-year-old was taken by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.

Neither operator nor passenger were wearing helmets. An autopsy is scheduled for the deceased.

This is still an active investigation.

A rollover ATV accident is reported in the area of 2835 Lockport Road, Oakfield.

Two people involved. One possible serious injury.

UPDATE 10:25 p.m.:  Elba Fire Police requested for traffic control, to shut down Lockport Road. 

UPDATE 10:31 p.m.: Mercy Flight has landed. 

UPDATE 10:44 p.m.: Mercy Flight in the air, en route to ECMC. 

UPDATE 12:10 a.m.: Oakfield is back in service. Elba can reopen Lockport Road.

The driver of a silver sedan that rear-ended a semi-truck on Ellicott Street at the intersection with Swan Street, Batavia, was evaluated by a Mercy medic and declined further treatment.

The roadway was reopened moments ago.

A pole and wires are down at 13 E. Main St. in the Village of Corfu, in front of Buttercrumbs Bakery. Corfu fire is on scene and mutual aid is requested from East Pembroke fire. Unknown injuries.

UPDATE 9:24 a.m.: The road is shut down by a deputy stationed at routes 33 and 77. Mercy medics are on scene. Command says wires are hanging about 6 feet over the roadway so the roadway is closed to traffic. The power company was contacted and has an ETA of an hour.

UPDATE 9:32 a.m.: The roadway is also closed at Snipery Road and Route 33.

UPDATE 9:35 a.m.: An RG&E rep is on scene now. Tractor-trailers are going to be detoured to Boyce Road, a north/south connector of routes 5 and 33, east of Route 77. Barricades are being put up.

UPDATE 11:10 a.m.: Command reports the barricades will remain in place and the roadway closed/detoured for at least a couple more hours.

UPDATE 12:02 p.m.: Command reports that it is National Grid on scene and they will continue to their work, but a lane will be opened for traffic to resume. The Corfu fire assignment is back in service.

Batavia Police are looking to identify the driver in an accident that occurred at the intersection of Liberty Street at Ellicott Street on Friday Night (April 2) at approximately 11:08 p.m.

The vehicle is described as a white Chevy or GMC model 1500 with a light bar on the front grill and a black toolbox in the truck bed.

UPDATED April 5: "Batavia Police would like to thank the community for their assistance locating the driver and subsequent victim of a hit and run accident that occurred this weekend. The victim's vehicle was confirmed to be a GMC Sierra."

An accident with injuries is reported at East Main Street and Clinton Street in the city. Police and firefighters are en route along with Mercy medics. It is blocking the roadway.

UPDATE 4:33 p.m.: The exact address is 548 E. Main St. Two vehicles are involved.

UPDATE 4:42 p.m.: A black Buick SUV was parked on the south side of East Main Street and the driver pulled out to make a U-turn and did not see an oncoming black Pontiac sedan and the two vehicles clipped fenders -- driver's side front fender to passenger side front fender. Injuries are minor. Sgt. Mitch Cowen at the scene said he's not sure either driver will require transport to the hospital.

A car vs. tractor-trailer accident is reported in the eastbound lane of the Thruway in the area of mile marker 400.9.

One minor injury reported.

Pembroke Fire and East Pembroke fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 4:49 p.m.: East Pembroke fire is back in service.

UPDATE 4:59 p.m.: State Police are also pursuing a fleeing subject in the westbound lane at about 60 mph. The pursuit just passed the accident scene.

A two-vehicle accident with four minor injuries is reported at Judge and Alleghany roads in Alabama.

The only ambulance available to respond is out of Medina.

Along with Alabama fire, mutual aid requested from Shelby and Oakfield, which has a rescue engine available.

UPDATE 11:25 a.m.: A chief informs dispatch that they are set for medics at the scene and is requesting that Shelby shut down southbound traffic. "We're all set for medics. Right now I just need traffic control," the chief informs dispatch. Oakfield is standing down.

UPDATE 11:31 a.m.: Mercy Flight is requested to the scene.

A two-vehicle accident is reported at Randall Road and West Bergen Road, Le Roy.

Minor injuries are reported but one person is trapped in a vehicle.

Two ambulances requested to the scene.

Traffic is not blocked.

Le Roy fire and Pavilion fire dispatched.

A motor-vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer and van is reported at Route 63 and Route 19 in Pavilion.

Injuries are reported. 

The Pavilion fire chief radioed in the report of the accident.

One person is complaining of neck pain.

A head-on collision between two vehicles is reported in Downtown Batavia at the intersection of Main and Banks streets. Unknown injuries. City fire and police are on scene.

UPDATE 2:27 a.m.: This was not a head-on collision; it was a T-bone. One vehicle struck the driver's side passenger door of another vehicle.

UPDATE 2:30 p.m.: Engine #11 is back in service.

UPDATE 2:34 p.m.: No injuries. A white Ford Edge, which is a mid-size crossover SUV, was struck by a white four-door Subaru and the Subaru has heavy front-end damage.

UPDATE 2:42 p.m.: City police Sgt. Mitch Cowen said video of the collision captured by a camera the covers the intersection was provided to BPD by a citizen will be reviewed to determine what happened and whether any citations will be issued.

A Bergen resident was killed in an overnight accident on Dublin Road, Bergen.

Bryan S. Holland, no age provided, was reportedly driving eastbound on Dublin Road at 12:30 a.m. when his vehicle left the roadway along the south shoulder, struck several mailboxes, a utility pole, and a tree.

The utility pole was sheared from its base, according to first responders, and the tree, with reportedly an 18-inch trunk and 30-feet tall, was knocked over.

Why Holland's vehicle left the road has not been determined.

The call came in at 12:32 a.m. When the first Bergen fire chief arrived on scene, he found Holland unresponsive. Coroner Tom Douglas was called to the scene and he pronounced Holland dead from injuries sustained in the crash.

The accident is under investigation by the Sheriff's Office Crash Management Team. Town of Bergen fire and Mercy EMS also responded.

A car has struck a utility pole in the area of 7634 Dublin Road, Bergen.

A person is trapped in the vehicle with possible serious injuries.

Dispatch is checking on the status of Mercy Flight.

UPDATE 1:44 a.m.: This is a fatal accident. The coroner is on scene. The Sheriff's Crash Management Team is on scene. Preliminarily, it appears the vehicle was eastbound and left the roadway, striking a couple of mailboxes before striking a utility pole and a tree. The pole was broken and the tree, with a trunk twice the size of the utility pole, was knocked over. It's believed the driver was the sole occupant.

The Batavia Police Department has completed its investigation into the two-vehicle collision on West Main Street, that occurred on March 14th at 9:09 a.m. Constance Lamilia, 81, of Batavia, was operating a 2006 Saturn leaving Tops Market, preparing to turn left onto West Main Street.

Town of Batavia Fire Department Fire Chief, Daniel Coffey, 41, of Batavia, was traveling west on West Main Street, responding to an emergency call with lights and sirens activated, in a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe owned by the Town of Batavia Fire Department. Lamilia failed to yield the right of way to Coffey while attempting her turn, causing her car to collide with the front right corner of the Chevrolet Tahoe.

Lamilia then continued east until her vehicle jumped the curb, struck a utility pole, and overturned, coming to a rest in the front yard of 389 West Main St. Lamilia was extricated by the City of Batavia Fire Department, and transported to ECMC (in Buffalo) for minor injuries.

Lamilia has since been released from the hospital. Coffey was not injured. No other vehicles were involved in the accident. West Main Street traffic was affected until approximately 7:30 p.m. The Batavia Police Department was assisted by the City of Batavia Fire Department, City of Batavia Public Works, National Grid, and Mercy EMS.

The Batavia Police Department would also like to thank all of the other motorists that assisted with the investigation by remaining in the area and speaking with officers. Constance Lamilia was issued a traffic ticket for failing to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle. Lamilia is scheduled to appear in Batavia City Court on June 16th at 9 a.m. No further charges are pending.

Previously: Accident involving minivan, fire chief's car and utility pole under investigation

A two-car accident is reported at 2784 Buffalo Street Road between Bowen and Townline roads. There are no injuries, but there is entrapment and the accident is blocking traffic. Alexander fire is on scene. An Attica deputy is called to the scene to slow traffic down.

Police investigators have yet to determine what may have caused a driver of a minivan to accelerate -- if she did -- after the vehicle struck a Town of Batavia fire chief's car that was heading to a serious injury accident on Galloway Road.

The minivan appears to have been exiting the Tops Market parking lot shortly after 9 a.m. with the intention of turning left when it struck the emergency vehicle, which was in emergency mode, driven by Fire Chief Dan Coffey. Coffey's vehicle sustained damage on the passenger side front fender.

The older female driver, whose name is not being released at this time, then proceeded eastbound on West Main Street Road. The minivan appears to have accelerated after the initial collision, Sgt. Mitch Cowen confirmed, but what may have caused that apparent acceleration hasn't been determined.

The minivan headed toward the West Main intersection with River Street where both lanes were blocked by cars stopped at the red light. Lynn Mucica was driving one of those vehicles and said she saw a car coming up behind her fast and thought it was going to strike the car next to her and possibly involve her in an accident. The minivan then swerved and struck a utility pole with three transformers on it, snapping the pole off near the base. The minivan continued east and came to rest on its side in the yard of 389 W. Main St.  

City fire responded and extricated the driver from the vehicle.  

The driver is being treated at ECMC for minor injuries and has not yet been interviewed.  

A citation is possible, Cowen said.

Coffey was uninjured in the collision and did eventually make it to the accident scene on Galloway Road.

At this hour, West Main remains partially closed. National Grid crews are repairing the pole. At least one of the transformers leaked its oily liquid onto the roadway and National Grid has also dispatched an environmental cleanup team to deal with the spill. The work is expected to be completed shortly.
